Chocolate Sponge With Peanut Butter Buttercream Filling Believe It Or Not This Was For A 25 Year Old Man Not A Child Lol Still Whats
Chocolate sponge with peanut butter buttercream filling. Believe it or not, this was for a 25 year old man, not a child, LOL! Still, what's that old saying? Little boys don't grow up - they just get bigger!!

Mary Poppins Themed Cake
This was ordered by the mum of a friend of mine. Anyone who knows Sharron, knows how she's a real Mary Poppins and the children she looks after adore her! Now, if she could just pop her brolly up, fly over here and tidy up my kitchen, spit spot, with a clap of her hands, that would be marvellous!!! Apart from Mary herself on the cake, there are the birds at St Pauls, kites to fly and sweeps' brooms popping out of chimneys! 9" chocolate sponge covered with marzipan and then covered with sugarpaste. Inscription hand-piped with royal icing. Sorry I don't know who to credit with the original design, but I was given a photo of a cake....

Diy Graffiti Cake
I had to think whether to post this picture or not. You see, as a cake maker, I feel it's expected that I'll make my children large, extravagant cakes. But sometimes, they don't know what they want; I don't know what to make them; and - to be very honest - time doesn't always allow for such creations! Yet, it's my elder son's 16th birthday and he had to have SOMETHING, right? So I had an idea. Not big. Not extravagant. But FUN! And that's what birthday cakes should be all about. I baked then iced the flavour that he said he'd love to try (he does like me to try new flavours out on him!) and after covering with a layer of ganache, I iced it. Now, in an ideal world, this would have been done 24 hours ahead of when I needed it (not an hour and a half!!) so that the icing could set a little bit. But once his friends arrived for lunch (before they all headed off to football - Come on you O's!!!!!) I called them into another room and asked them to write a message or draw a pic on the cake using edible markers. It wasn't easy as the icing was so soft... but they had such a laugh making it! And Matthew loved reading all the messages. Someone on my Facebook page even suggested doing a tiered version for a small, information wedding reception which could then be photographed before the happy couple cut the cake. I love that idea! Anyway - happy 16th birthday to my beautiful boy, Matthew!

Hip-Hop/street Dance
I was asked to make a pink cake with hip-hop/street dance silhouettes, musical notes, a pair of shoes similar to Converse boots and two models of blonde girls with their hair in a pony tail, wearing black trousers and a black t-shirt with their dance school logo! It's off up to Blackpool tomorrow, as the girls are celebrating their birthday whilst competing in the finals of a dance competition! Good luck girls!! x

Name Place Cookies
My son's Bar Mitzvah party had a Monopoly theme and instead of name place cards on the table, I decided to make name place cookies... all 140 of them! Each table had a name corresponding to a place on the Monopoly board and was colour coded accordingly and each table had a matching cookie, personalised!

Surfboard & Camper Van Bar Mitzvah Cake
Surfboard Bar Mitzvah Cake! The theme of Josh's party was surfboards and camper vans and so I incorporated both into this colourful cake. Josh has a few food allergies (including egg and nuts) and so the bottom tier was chocolate biscuit cake (a bit like a huge piece of rocky rock!!) and the top tier was a rich, egg-free rich chocolate sponge!

Wedding Cake 'maria'
My very warmest congratulations to Maria and Hayden who were married today at Orsett Hall Hotel. Maria chose a pearl/champagne highly lustred cake with white royal icing damask stencil decoration finished with edible pearls, which complemented the gold accents of her decoration perfectly. With the bottom tier a light vanilla sponge with jam & buttercream; the 2nd tier zesty lemon sponge with lemon curd buttercream; and the top two tiers chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream, there is something for everyone!
