Monkey & Spots 1St Birthday Cake
This was supposed to be an order for a 3 tier cake and 25 matching cookies. Unfortunately, however, the customer cancelled due to a family bereavement. She knew that she wouldn't be getting her deposit back, but asked if that could go towards a small cake for the actual birthday. I couldn't really say no. Here's what I did for her (original cake was monkeys and spots, too).

Marshmallow Pop Bar Mitzvah Cake
Customer wanted a cake for her son's Bar Mitzvah, but didn't know what! There wasn't a theme as such for the party, but they just wanted something colourful, fun & funky... She and her husband looked through my website and they loved the marshmallow pops. This is what we decided on... I was worried it would just look like marshmallow pops stuck into a cake (which, basically it is!!!!) but it does look good. Of course, the photograph emphasizes the fact that some of the sticks aren't absolutely perfectly aligned... but you don't notice as much in real life! ;o) The pops are just marshmallows, brushed with edible glue and then dipped in coloured sugar. The crunch of the sugar and the softness of the marshmallow is really lovely!!

Wedding Cake 'noreen'
4 tier wedding cake. Customer only actually paid for three tiers, but it just didn't look right and she was SUCH a lovely girl that although my head said "she's only paid for 3 tiers", my heart said "but you've got that little dummy tier not doing anything..." My heart won! ;o) The 6" top tier was just too big, considering there wasn't any topper. Based on a design by Zoe Clark.

Customers Son Loves The Film Back To The Future So She Ordered A Cake With An Edible Image I Did The Inscription To Try And Mimic The Fi
Customer's son LOVES the film Back To The Future, so she ordered a cake with an edible image. I did the inscription to try and mimic the film title and there are little flames all the way around the cake to represent the trail of flames left by the car when it time travels! 9" square chocolate orange cake.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar 2 Tier Cake
2 tier Very Hungry Caterpillar cake. The customer sent me a photo of the cake that she wanted me to make, so I'm afraid I don't know who to credit for this original cake design. 10" vanilla sponge cake with jam and buttercream + 6" chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream - both covered with marzipan and sugarpaste and all decorations hand-made from modelling paste.

3 tier cake (6" vanilla sponge cake with jam and buttercream, 8" rich fruit cake, 10" chocolate sponge cake with chocolate buttercream) separated by Wilton hidden pillars and blocked with fresh irises. I put cellophane on top of the cakes so that the flowers weren't in direct contact with the cake.

Sushi Cake
My son wanted a cake that looks like a giant piece of sushi!! Here is my version of a brilliant cake by Rose Sen. Not as good as hers! But my son is thrilled with it. His friend is here and her dad owns a restaurant that specialises in sushi - and she thinks it's fab! LOL!! Next time, I would probably carve the top of the cake slightly, to give the impression of the prawn being thicker - mine really is *very* flat. I was losing the will to live, doing all those individual grains of rice!! My son also requested the cake flavour - a new one for me to try - chocolate and raspberry. It's divine!

50Th Present / Parcel Cake
8" lemon sponge cake filled with lemon curd buttercream and covered with marzipan and sugarpaste. You can't tell from the photo, but the white is REALLY sparkly... I used Squires Kitchen 'Sparkles' lustre - totally edible lustre which is waaaay more sparkly and shimmery than normal pearl.
