Double Cheese Burger Cakes
More double cheese burger cakes. Tomatoes are candy melts cut with the large round cookie cutter. Cheese and lettuce are fondant. Hamburger patty is all chocolate frosting and of course, ketchup & mustard are frosting. I think I'm getting better with the burger/condiments, but the bun still needs work. Can't seem to get that shade of brown right.....

3D Sail Boat Sugar Cookies
Trying out my new cutters. I made four trays full for the High School Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. Transporting fully assembled is a bit of a trick. Sugar cookies break easily too. Not fun. Royal icing pole and flag. Fondant hull for each of the boats. Added brown sugar to make a base and some fondant fish & royal icing sea weed left over from a previous project to add to the ambience.

Hearts & Bow Wedding Shower Cake
Fondant covered cakes with fondant accents & fondant bow. Then I used luster dust to "dust" the entire cake. My friend is helping to host a shower for her boss' bridal shower today and she wanted it to "sparkle". I think the luster dust really added a LOT to this cake.

Ocean Theme Coral Reef Cup Cakes
Cup cakes for a going away party (they are moving to Australia). Dolphins, sea horses, fish and turtles are fondant with candy eyes. Coral and sea weed are royal icing. I drew these out and showed them to my husband, but I normally don't end up with what I drew. So this was exciting for me to actually create exactly what I designed! 6 dozen cup cakes.

Lizard Cake For A Prehistoric Pets Birthday Party
My friends daughter wanted a lizard cake, but the lizard had to be a girl and sitting in a flower field. So this is the cake I did for her party. Scales are MMF pressed into little discs and applied one at a time. Royal icing flowers. Bow is actually an Airhead candy cut in half lenghtwise and folded. I think it turned out fairly well despite the fact that it looks more like a baby t-rex to me.

Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby Cake
I saw jennianne 's nascar cake and used her basic design to make this one. I really didn't think I'd succeed carving a cake, but freezing it first made a tremendous difference! Cake is buttercream frosting. Road is fondant. Got it all in one pc by cutting it long on wax paper and then rolling it up like a fruit roll up and rolling it out onto the cake! Cars are cup cakes using a William Sanoma cup cake pan. Filled in the frosting and brushed smooth. Each car was time consuming, but the effect was worth it.

Pastel Circles Tiered Birthday Cake
This is a design from the Tiered Cakes book. My niece picked this out but wanted her own color scheme (which I assured her was totally doable). Just finished this for her party today. I'm still not the best at working with fondant (keep getting bubbles) but practice will hopefully improve that.

Bird-O-Poly Game Board Cake
This is a cake I'm donating to the Audubon for their annual appreciation dinner for the Junior Naturalists. The kids play Bird-O-Poly (a version of Monopoly) at the summer camps, so it seemed only appropriate to make a cake they could play on first. The board is an edible image printed on a frosting sheet. The cards are edible images placed over MMF.

Mad Hatter Tea Party Cake
This was basically my 5 hour cake challenge cake. Finding my dtr's cake destroyed the morning of her party, I had 5 hours to re-create it (including baking a new cake as there was no salvaging what remained from the old one). This was half the size and not topsie turvey, but the same theme, and, I think it turned out better anyway. And the party was a huge success.

Whinsical Birthday Cake
My first attempt at a whimsical cake. Unfortunately, what ever mistake it was that I made in the design/creation of this was terminal. Came down the morning of the party (yesterday) to find the entire cake had slit into pieces. My 5 y/o was initially devistated but then replies "I bet it still tastes good". What can you say to that? It was 8AM and the party was at 4pm. Being the nice mom that I think I am, I baked a whole new cake (just half the size and not tilted). she loved it. Will post that one next.

Flip Flop Shoe Cakes
My first set of flip flop cakes. Definitely need to make the straps further in advance. Thank you (can't remember who posted) for the templates for the shoes! Saved me time not having to make my own templates. The right shoe is chocolate and the left one is white cake, so everyone has what they want. For some reason the color got clumped in the BC frosting.

Bowling Cake
Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. The bowling pins are made out of sugar cookies (made my own template) with royal icing and the bowling ball is a HUGE cake ball (my daughter's choice). The black candy melts are not as smooth as the chocolate, so it's more lumpy than I'd like, but I think the over all visual effect works. She's having her first "co-ed" birthday party at the bowling alley later today.

Lavendar Rose & Butterfly's Wedding Cake
This is my first "official" wedding cake. I did one for my brother a few years back and one for course 3 final, but this was my first paid cake. Fondant/gumpaste roses (thanks for all the input on how to fix those!) rice paper butterfly's. Using the new Wilton pillar set with a center support system (which was interesting to work with to say the least!).

Pokemon Stadium Birthday Cake
Just finished this one for my son's birthday party tomorrow. He's been a big fan of Pokemon for several years now, and I guess his enthusiasm isn't fading! This was a challenging cake, but he's very happy with it, so I guess I did ok. All buttercream except the board is covered in fondant with BC walkways and grass along the base of the cake.

Butterfly Garden Cup Cakes
Rice paper butterfly's with royal icing bodies on royal icing flowers with edible candy liners made from candy melts. I made both white and chocolate (3 dozen) of these cup cakes for my daughter's Audubon day camp last day party. Needless to say, they were a pretty big hit.

Audubon Camp Cake
This is a cake I made & donated to our local Audubon chapter for tonights BBQ event. Base cake is a full sheet cake two cakes high covered in BC frosting. Book cake for birding "field guide" with frosting sheet edible image. Camp hat cake covered in MMF with fondant bill. Binoculars are moded from rice crispie bars and covered in fondant. Not totally professional looking, but I think they'll like it (my girls are happy with it-they are the ones that participate in the day camps run here locally).

Disney Pixar's Cars Themed Birthday Cake
MMF cake board. One 14 inch round chocolate cake + one 14 inch round white cake trimmed and placed together to form a figure 8 for the base cake. MMF covered and MMF street w/royal icing outline. Grass is BC frosting. Cars toys for decorations. I put the stars (MMF) on the front as a result of the MMF green ripping on me. Large cakes are hard to cover in MMF I've discvered....

Blackjack_Bday_Cake-4Web.jpg
OK, I have to say, this is the best cake I've made thus far (despite all the errors I know are there!). MMF base with the wilton black fondant (since I knew I was not going to be able to make black black fondant). Cards are edible images on MMF. Poker chips are fondant as well (the only thing I could find to impress the middles was a tip cover, so they all say Wilton backwards on them too!). Oh, and this is based on the design in one of the wilton yearbooks.

Fondant Flag Star Cake
Practicing with fondant. This is the same design on the wilton web site. I learned (from this cake) that the fondant needs to be a tad thicker to work with. I ripped a few of the stripes (small tear right there smack dab in the front!) and totally ripped the blue, but was able to cover that pretty well with a star. This was a fun cake to make. Now that I have the hang of it, I am liking working with fondant! I can't wait to work on my next project! (which is baking as I type).
