Phineas And Ferb Birthday Cake
Printed a photo from the net of Phineas and Ferb, poked holes in the outline with a tack, then pressed the cardstock I printed it on to the cake to form the outline for the characters. Then drew them in with buttercream frosting. A tad tedious, but still easier than a FBCT since they were relatively easy and small characters.

Cub Scouts Lagoon Campout Cake
Cake for our cub scout pack's annual lagoon camp out. Sea weed and coral made from royal icing and colored with spray food coloring. Fish & turtles are made from fondant. LOVE doing this theme. Time consuming on the prep work, but the effect is so worth it. Made cup cakes to go with this (will post those in a few).

Confirmation Cake
Cake for Confirmation ceremony for my daughter's graduating class. All buttercream. I cut out the dove design and pressed it into the cake to outline, then free hand filled in the dove 3D with buttercream frosting. The wings and tail feather's are done with a #18 star tip then piped in the body/head with a #12 and used a brush to smooth it to the dimentions of the body. The eye is actually a deco candy ball.

Sweet 16 Bday Cake
Triple chocolate cake for my daughter's 16th birthday. She originally didn't feel we would do a cake since we weren't having a traditional party, but decided at the last minute maybe she wanted a cake after all. Chocolate roses are one of the easiest things for me to make, so I was glad she was receptive to the chocolate cake with chocolate roses. The 16 is made from royal icing.

Cub Scouts Blue And Gold Awards Cake
Saw a similar design online and can't remember where. Fondant with edible images for decorations. In hindsight, I should've made the side discs smaller, but I forgot I was going to have them at an angle when I did all my measuring. It turned out pretty good over all. ANd everyone loved it so that's really what counts in the end.

Birthday Cake - Eclectic Themes
Friend of mine was celebrating her 70th bday party this weekend and wanted a cake that incorporated exercise, birding and travel (since those are the three things she loves the most). It was not an easy task, but I think I got it all in there. Stick figures exercising around the cake. Road, car and birds in the trees are fondant. The rest is butter cream and royal icing flowers along the road.

Basic Chocolate Super Bowl Cake
Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. The football is made from candy melts using a William Sanoma cup cake pan. Worked pretty good. My daughter was disappointed at how basic it was, but everyone else liked it. I guess when a kid grows up with elaborate cakes, a basic cake is just not exciting anymore...

Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby Cake
Stacked/carved two full sheet cakes to make a ramp. then covered in fondant. Fondant roads and cup cake cars covered in buttercream. wheels are fondant. Used icing writer for the lines on the ramps and the sign on the front of the cake. It was fun to see the boys reactions when they saw their cake.

Tinkerbell Cup Cake Birthday Cake
Cup Cake Cake I made for my 6 y/o to take to school. I used the square silicone cup cake cups, put regular cup cake liners in them to bake cup cakes. The "square" cup cakes fit nicely together with minimal gaps (and gave more of a real cake appearance to it all). Tinkerbell is a FBCT. I could NOT get the fine details of her hands right, so I put flowers over the one that was really bad. Everyone loved it. A few teachers actually freaked initially thinking it was a "real cake" they had to cut.

Ben 10 Alien Force Birthday Cake
My son has become totally addicted to the Ben 10 saga. I usually don't use toys on my cakes, but decided it was time to stray from this tradition. I constructed 2 buildings out of cake (one choc and one vanilla), covered them in BC frosting, used an impression matt to create the brick work, sprayed wilton spray coloring to intensify the red & blue, then fondant windows & streets. Icing writers for the lines & writing on the street. 1st time using satan ice fondant & OMG, it was incredible to work with!

Chocolate Cup Cake Cake With Chocolate Roses
I bought the square silicone cup cake liners, but regular cup cake liners inside them and baked up a few dozen cup cakes. Then took them out of the silicone liner and made a cup cake cake. I was hoping to get a "perfect seal" between the cup cakes for my cup cake cakes, and this definitely did the trick! No superfluous frosting fell between the cup cakes. Mini- Roses were made with the 101 tip. the girls on my daughter's team loved them.

Sports Theme Birthday Cake
This was a lot of fun to put together (albeit stressful!). The bowling pins are actually molded out of rice crispie treats and covered in Masrhmallow Fondant. MMF faces. The football & bowling ball are covered in chocolate frosting with MMF faces. The baseball is covered in fondant with BC frosting stitching and MMF face. BDay boy LOVED his cake.

Tweety For Bird Camp Cup Cake Cake
Cup cake cake for Audubon Camp this year. I didn't have time to go get a tray, so I used a cookie sheet instead. It actually worked better as it held 7 rows of 5 cup cakes PERFECTLY and snug so I could frost them for this cup cake cake. Tweety is a FBCT. I don't do mine the "traditional" way. I keep the sides very thin (about 1/4 inch around the side) so when I put it on my cake, I can press the sides flush with my base cake. Makes more of a 3D effect that I prefer.

Flower's Butterfly's And A Bird's Nest
I created this cake for our local Audubon Chapter's annual BBQ event today. Very basic design compared to the one I did last year, but I think it turned out nice. Eggs are robin egg candies. Leaves in the nest are sour apple fruit strips cut with a leaf cutter. Nest sticks are fondant. Butterfly's are rice paper & royal icing. Flowers are all royal icing. The rest is all buttercream. I hope it makes it to the site in one piece tonight!

Pool Party Birthday Cake
From one of the wilton year books. The umbrella is not as easy to make as they make it seem, but it didn't turn out to badly. The mom of the birthday girl will pick up the flip flop candles to go on the cake so it's more like the photo in the book. Flowers are royal icing made on a flower nail (I'm not fond of the drop flowers, so I make these instead).
