doz, I've been wondering the same thing ever since the site was abandoned!  If no one else wanted it, the group of us who still enjoy it would take it over.  In time, I think members would return.

I'm sure many would return and like me would be willing to take part in it and also be willing to help fund the site if necessary. I think this is one of the best sites there is and am really sad it's going down the tubes.

Sorry Sandra, doz, MerMadeBakedGoods   I hate to be wet blanket, but these particular sites have had there day.  And again, most of the information here can be found either in a fb decorating group page, on the web or YouTube. And CC hasn’t had a lot of traffic in the last couple of years. To sell a site, it would have to be thriving.  Which CC isn’t. I’m a member of CakesDecor, and past member of CakesWeBake, as is Sandra. CakeWeBake was very vital, busy site, where I was also a Moderator. CWB died too. CD is still running, no spam, but absolutely next to nothing in involvement from members. CD started in 2011, and it is languishing as well. Use to be up to 100 cake pictures were posted per day. Now, it’s more like 20, or 30 on a good day. The owners of CD have tried contests, guessing this would encourage members to return. Nope, didn’t work. Also another reason these pages have died is that many members, probably anywhere between 50-70% aren’t even cake decorating anymore. I can tell you many of my cake friends from CD, many, many aren’t decorating anymore. They have moved on and cakes are a occasional thing. And a few aren’t even doing occasionally or hobby cakes. As I have said the BIG cake craze that we knew, sadly, is over.

There's Got to be some way to keep a Group together, in a form of a chat room or a forum.

I, for one, am here for the conversation, and wisdom of the members who have been here longer than I.  I never was a 'Decorator', or serious baker....just did everything for fun, or to show myself that I could accomplish a particular project.  And if I lose this place, I won't have anywhere else to go.  That's going to really make me sad.

How do you guys keep people together?

Peace!

Christie, you can join Keep Calm and Cake On, a FaceBook group formed to help keep members together after CakesWeBake fell apart.  Many of the CC members are already members.  Here's the link.
