Ohara- I'm almost sick of the snow already. I have to go and buy some salt for the driveway and steps. Hope your back will be fines, snow sure is heavy when you have that much. Hope the kiddo's feel better too.

Lita- I don't mind the dentist, I just hate paying for it. icon_lol.gif Good luck on opening the new cake business. I'm wishing you the best!

Mightydragon- Good luck with school, how exciting. A career change sometimes is a good thing. In the old What's for Supper thread (before the CC crash) I was in culinary school. Everyone was so supportive of me here. There were many times I thought I couldn't do it anymore and people around me thought I was crazy. The table sisters kept me grounded and seriously helped me to stay focuses and push through. It's amazing to me that I never have met any of them, yet they all had something to do with keeping me sane when life was crazy.

Sparkle - I almost bought an airline package for Australia. I could only afford the air fair though, not the hotel - food or anything else. icon_lol.gif So that was a no go.

Kay- A Christmas Blizard! My goodness that's a way to start the holidays. I'm glad Mike is ok for now. It sucks that all his health issues though might resurface once again. You've all been through a lot.

Kellertur - CAll me anytime. I loved talking to you and it's so odd how much our families are alike.

And to my table sister in S. Africa - I hope all is well and your cake business is still booming.

*Today I'm so sore I can hardly move. I worked out really hard on Friday and was a little sore ( I did 4.5 miles on the eliptical on an incline with resistance and then over and hour of upper body). Saturday I worked out doing my first Krav Maga class. I loved it, but I can hardly move today. Don't get me wrong, I love being able to tell I did something but this is crazy. I'm never working out that hard on a Friday before a Saturday class again. The class was solid upper body. I split my skin open a little on my left elbow hitting the pads, but couldn't even tell till I was told. I have so much to learn and my form needs loads of work but it was fun. It's also useful because it's a form of self defense.
*I then went home and made 9 no-sew fleece blankets with my mom for project Linus. I really need a better pair of scissors. My mom has blisters on her hands for all that cutting and my hands are still sore today for all of the same cutting. It's worth it though because it's a good cause. I'm volunteering for the Disney Get a Day, Give a Day program. We made more blankets than needed but that's what we wanted to do. We might be donating our tickets because I'm not sure if we'll be going to Florida. (I'll hold off till we know though) I decided I'll be making a few blankets every 3 months since I like the cause and so does my DH.

I'll tell you all about what happened to my daughter later. I sometimes think kids are here to scare the crap out of us.

Dinner last night was a vegetarian dish that my mother in law made. It's good but I'm getting tired of it. Don't even know how to explain what it is either. It's kind of like a savory bar but you eat it with a fork and it's hot. Mac and Cheese and pasta noodles for the kids. I haven't been in the mood to cook that much lately.

First week of school down. Hopefully, next week will go a little better. The stuff we learned was really cool, but I started getting a migraine on Friday night during class and it ballooned into the mother of all migraines by Saturday. So, it was nearly impossible to be attentive and creative or anything else for that matter.
The coolest thing we learned to make were these little cream puff swans. They were so cute!

Ohara, I'm sorry to hear about the snow. If it helps at all, shoveling snow burns something like 450 cal/hour. icon_biggrin.gif

mkolmar, that sounds like a killer workout! icon_eek.gif No wonder you don't feel like cooking. The Linus program sounds really interesting. What do they do with the blankets?

Lita, if I had kids, I don't think I would be going to school or working. Fortunately, DH can take care of himself, and there are plenty of choices in the freezer. So he won't go hungry.

Last night was a savory galette--a rustic sort of pie with filling. I needed to practice my pie dough.

Well, I had better get back to work. Hope everyone is well! Have a great day!

Project Linus has chapters everywhere. They basically do hand made blankets and then send them to newborns/toddlers/teens who are seriously ill and in the hospital.

Mightydragon - Sorry about your migraine, I hope it's gone by now.
You mentioned pastry swans and I had to laugh. That is what I had to make practically every week for a semester since I could pipe them pretty well. I now make them for work every now and then (with creme puffs and eclaires.) People go crazy over those little things. The swans are really cute though.

Tonight is sausage gravy with biscuits, eggs, pancakes, home fries and yogurt. I have a meeting to go to so I won't be eating probably any of it. It's for the chefs association and I'm the treasurer. Not going to be a fun one because they are almost broke.

mkolmar what a great thing to do, making blankets for those in the hospital. My DH and I both have no sew blankets we use while we are watching tv. We love them. My DD wants one. I am going to get the material this week....I hope. I imagine that you have more snow than us. I am already sick of it. The weather man said today that today makes 15 days in a row with snow. Your dinner sounds wonderful. I love breakfast food.

mightydragon....I was counting on that snow shoveling to burn calories icon_wink.gif ...that's what kept me going. Ha! I'm sorry about your migraine. Do you get them very often? I am blessed that I don't. I have had one or two. I don't know how people who get them often deal with it!

Lita I hope all is well with you.

Sparkle...you are our warmth...you need to tell us all about your cooking on the barbie!

Last night I made roast pork, twice baked potatoes, green beans and Italian bread.

Tonight was hot pork sandwiches....slices of pork on bread with mashed potatoes in the middle with homemade gravy covering it. I of course did not have that....I had pork with peas and carrots and low fat cottage cheese.....almost as good icon_confused.gif

There is still enough pork left to make bbq pork sandwiches one night. I love with it works out like that!

Hope all are well!

Hey Ladies,

Hope that everyone had a great weekend. It is a wonderful thing you do, mkolmar, with Project Linus. I worked with a woman at Williams-Sonoma who did something similar but with pillow cases. I think that it is so important to let the children who are ill and their famililes know that they are not alone and that they are thought of. Keep up the good work. Your work out is more brutal than mine....I do 45 min on the treadmill (or 4.25 miles). YOU GO GIRL thumbs_up.gif .

Mightydragon....sorry to hear about your migraine. I use to get those when I was younger so I know that they are no picnic icon_smile.gif . Its good that you are enjoying pastry school. I love the idea of making cream puff swans icon_smile.gif . The galette sounds tasty!

Ohara...your hot pork sandwiches sounds sinful! WOW....Fifteen inches of snow icon_eek.gif . I know it is an awesome workout but be careful shoveling that snow. Its funny..we just officially entered winter 3 weeks ago and I'm already ready for summer (or at least spring). Here on the east coast its been frigid icon_cry.gif I'm ready for some sun rays that bring heat...not just light icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif I do have to say that snow is beautiful to look at before it gets all grimey.

Kay...hope that all is well with you.

Sparkle...hope that everything is going well in the land down under.

Dinner for me tonight was linguini carbonara. Saturday and sunday it was Chili and corn bread.

You all have an awesome night icon_biggrin.gif

Hi everyone. The meeting I went to tonight was brutal but I tried to stay positive.
Ohara- Yes!, I'm sick of the snow almost already. I got the ice and snow off my van and within 2 hours had to do it again.

*We all honestly shouldn't complain though. We could be like Kellertur and live in Maine. icon_razz.gif It has to be horrid up there right now. Come winter time I always look like this icon_eek.gif whenever I hear here talk about their weather.

Have to be up at 5am and it's going on midnight so I'll let you all go for now. Sweet dreams everyone.

As cold as it is over there we are the complete opposite. It was 40C (104F) plus humidity, here today which is pretty darn hot. Tried to avoid going outside sat inside the the air conditioner on it was even too hot to go swimming in the pool until about 5pm. Sorry ohara no BBQ at the moment it's to hot to do it outside.
I had a lady pick up a wedding cake and cookies today they are going to Narrabri (country NSW) which is a 8 hour drive from here. They have had so much rain lately a lot of the area is flooded but now its starting to heat up so who knows what the wedding day will be like on Saturday.

mightydragon - pastry swans sound so cool. Migraines are horrid my DH suffers from them. Hope you feel better.
Lita - believe me I'm not the sort of person who would normally fall asleep in the dentist chair. I had some horrid experiences in that chair as a child and get tense just hearing a drill but the valium obviously worked for me.
ohara - I can't even imagine 15" snow everything must look beautiful, it never snows here. Saw on the news heaps of snow in different countries in the Northen Hemisphere, at least it makes me feel cooler.
mkolmar - We'll come on down who needs money icon_rolleyes.gif we'll send you to Kings Cross I'm sure you'll make some money there icon_lol.gif We do something similar with blankets here but we knit squares for Wrapt with Love every year I knit a few squares. they certainly make a lot of blankets. BTW way what is sausage gravy? Sounds intriguing.

Tonight DD cooked again (I'm in shock) she made a pasta salad and chicken schnitzel from scratch. It all tasted good. Maybe she'll get there yet.

Talk again soon.

Hey Everyone! We all have been MIA for the last few days icon_sad.gif I've missed our discussions. I hope that everything is ok with all of you. I have been out of commission because my one tooth decided to act a fool icon_cry.gif. I ended up having some of my dental work sooner rather than later. I have to say that the dentists were awesome and I didn't have an anxiety attack with the novocaine injections...yes thats right PLEURAL....I'm hard to numb. I guess that my traumatic childhood experiences with the dentist (like Sparklepop) and the knowledge that I am not going to get only 1 injection leads to the anxiety. I have to give kudos to the dentists, though, because they were great.

Dinner for me tonight was triple chocolate ice cream. Ahhhhh...the benefits of having messed up teeth icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Lita sorry to hear about you tooth. Glad you got it taken care of though. I like your dinner! thumbs_up.gif

mkolmar you are right. I am thankful I don't live somewhere that gets tons of snow. I washed my vehicle yesterday. It was so nasty with salt and dirt....everyone's coats get dirty from brushing up against it.

Sparkle....your summer sounds wonderful right now. How great is it that your DD cooked again. Does she clean up after herself or do you get that honor?

Mightydragon I hope school is going well for you. You must be busy...hope to hear from you soon.

Been busy all week....just like usual. Hard to believe it's Saturday. It's a long weekend. No school on Monday for Martin Luther King day. We are going to a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese on Sunday. Not my favorite place. I usually end up there at least once a year. We have something scheduled twice this week there. What are the odds. Oh well, our daughter LOVES to go.

I did cook this week....

Wednesday I made stuffed green peppers.
Thursday was left overs.
Friday we had roasted chicken, angle hair pasta, green beans and cottage cheese.

Today I am making Italian vegetable soup and fresh bread. That way I can enjoy the college basketball on tv and not have to stop and make dinner.
icon_wink.gif
Quiet day here today....(at least that is the plan)

You'll have to let us know how the Italian Vegetable soup comes out. It sounds like its going to be good. Is it anything like the Italian Wedding soup? I love that soup icon_biggrin.gif

Its going to be a quiet day in my neck of the woods today. I may make some RI decorations for a cake...or I might wait until tomorrow icon_redface.gif ...it depends on how I feel later today.

Hi Everyone!!!! I've missed talking to you all and hearing all your goings on. Lita, I am so sorry to hear about your teeth, but I am so very happy that the dentist wasn't like Frankinstein or anything. icon_smile.gif

I've been so freakin' busy!! School is a lot more involved that I ever guessed it would be!!! Between that and work, I don't know if I am coming or going. icon_smile.gif I am really glad I thought ahead and prepared a bunch of meals though, as I have no time to cook, at least not real food.

Ohara, your dinners sound soooooooo good. I hope you and mkolmar are thawing out a bit. The weather here as been absolutely gorgous! Very sring like. That said, come spring, it will be very winter like since that is when we tend to get most of our snow.

Take care you guys! I'll try to do a better job of keeping up. icon_smile.gif

Lita how is the tooth doing? Did you have a good weekend? I hope you are able to eat more than ice cream by now.
The Italian vegetable soup was really good! I am such a soup person in the winter.

I hope the rest of the table sisters check in soon.

Last nights dinner....ham steaks pan fried, baked macaroni and cheese, green beans, applesauce and biscuits.

Tonight I am baking a turkey breast. Not sure what will go with it.

Have a blessed day!

Ohara, I totally love classes and all the cool things we are learning. I did underestimate just how difficult it would be to manage both work and school though. It has been a great experience so far, and I expect that it will continue to be so. My class has 15 people, and we all seem to work very well together. There is only one person older than I am. I kind of like being one of the elders though icon_lol.gif It is very cool to have some of the youngin's asking me questions, like I actually know what I am doing. Ha ha. icon_biggrin.gif It does keep me on my toes and motivates me to study, though. I would feel terrible if I gave them the wrong answer.

Last night was potatoe/brocoli and cheese pie. I had to practice pie crust for my practical last Thursday, and I just can't throw perfectly good food out.

Well back to work. Talk to you guys later icon_smile.gif Have a totally fabulous day!

Hey Ladies,

Thanks for all the well wishes regarding my dental issues. I am happy to report that I am able to eat more than ice cream now icon_biggrin.gif Heck...I've been chowing down the last few days icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif .

Mightydragon...I'm sure that you must feel swamped with work, school, and family. It reminds me of when I was in nursing school. I had NO social life outside of schoo, work, and my live-in boyfriend. I wouldn't have seen him if we didn't live togather. My advice to you is to keep your eyes on the prize..the craziness won't last forever. You know there is an endpoint and when you reach it....its smooth sailing thumbs_up.gif

Ohara...I'm with you on being a soup person in the winter. I'm happy to hear that your soup turned out yummy! Your dinner last night sounds like it was also delish icon_biggrin.gif I used to eat panfried ham when I was young. My grandmother LOVED it...she used to make it with grits and red-eye gravy.

Hope that everyone else is doing well.

Dinners over the weekend were Lean Cuisine on Saturday and Wild Mushroom and ham risotto with pineapple upside-down cake for dessert on Sunday. Last night was left over risotto, sauteed chicken breast, and sauteed spinach.

Y'all have a great day!!

Edited to add dessert.

Hi everyone! I've been busy and then got sick. I'm still not 100% but I'm able to function.
Tonight was black forest ham, baked potatoes, french bread and applesauce.
Yesterday was carrot sticks and cheese pizza.
Monday was Chicken breast (DH put BBQ sauce on his), smashed garlic - pepper- salt- onion potatoes, green beans, sliced peaches, french bread with fontina cheese on the side.

I've been mainly eating applesauce the last few days and some bread with plenty of liquids. I had to take Monday and Tuesday off of work. I went in today and that 9 hour shift about killed me. I have to work from 6 am till 8 pm tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it at all. (I know I'm whining and I just don't care icon_lol.gif )

Glad to see everyone is alright at the table. Even though you all have been crazy busy.
Lita - glad your dental work was better than you expected.
Ohara - How was Chuck E. Cheeses ( I don't like that place either).
Mightydragon - Keep up the good work, your table sisters are pulling for you.
Sparkle- Yeah, I'll head straight to Kings Cross. icon_lol.gif I'll make sure it's at night though, I've heard that's the best time to make money. icon_surprised.gif I love your sense of humor.

Hope everyone else is doing well and can check in soon.

mkolmar thanks for asking Chuck E Cheese SUCKED!!!! both times. Actually my daughter had a great time. It is just so busy, and loud. It will be a long time before I'm back there tough! Thank heavens that they have a salad bar.
How are you feeling? I hope you are doing better....doesn't sound like you got to rest much though.

Lita my mom used to make red eye gravy. I love it....not my DH though! And I could eat grits every day. I bet your grandma used to make great biscuits to go with that as well! I know my mom did. Yum....makes me hungry just thinking about it!

Mightydragon I am so glad that you are enjoying your classes. How did your pie crust come out on Thursday? Looking forward to hearing about your week.

Dinners...
Tuesday was pizza.

Wednesday was roasted turkey breast, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, stuffing, peas and carrots.

Thursday DD and I went to Chuck E Cheese....husband and son had turkey salad sandwiches. The only reason my son thinks a turkey should be used for. Ha! They love the stuff.

Friday I made meat loaf, baked potatoes ,sweet corn and Italian bread. I had ground chicken instead of meat loaf.

I hope you are all having a great weekend.

Hi Everyone!

Hope that everyone had a great week and is having a wonderful weekend. Sorry to hear that you were under the weather, mkolmar. Hopefully, you are feeling better and back at 100% icon_smile.gif . Your dinners sound delish...especially the smashed garlic potatoes.

I agree with both of you...Chuck E. Cheeses isn't one of my favorite places. I used to go to many birthday parties for the children of women I grew up with. I'm sure that the children enjoy it but it is way to noisy! I used to always leave with a headache.

Ohara...I'm with ya on loving grits. I eat them plain, with sugar, with all types of cheeses, or with plain old butter and salt. My grandmom was an outstanding cook....I really do miss her and her cooking. I'm sure your mom could burn (in a good way), too thumbs_up.gif . Your meatloaf din din sounds yum. I haven't made a meatloaf in a while. Hmmm...you've given me an idea for dinner next week icon_smile.gif

Mightydragon...I hope that classes are going well and that you aren't too crazy busy. Remember what I said....keep your eyes on the prize. How did your pie crust come out? Keep us informed of all the interesting things that you are learning to make icon_smile.gif

Hope that everyone else is doing well.

Dinner for me tonight was pizza. Friday was cheeseburger salad. Thursday was penne pasta with lemon-artichoke pasta sauce.

OMG Chuck E Cheese like a horrid name for a place, couldn't see it working over here. I've only ever heard people laugh about it on American TV shows. I am curious as to what sort of food they actually sell!!!!

Lita glad to hear the dental stuff worked OK and triple chocolate ice cream for dinner icon_biggrin.gif love that. OK and I'm freaked out by hearing you eat red-eye gravy icon_confused.gif what the....?? and grits?? Sounds a bit like witchetty grubs!!

mighty dragon - you sound like one very organised person with school and preparing a bunch of meals in advance I always think about it when I know I'm going to be busy but don't actually carry it out, you'd think I'd learn but I don't icon_rolleyes.gif . Oh and your always welcome to send any of your "test" pieces over here.

mkolmar - Hope you're feeling better and remember your allowed to whine when your crook. Apparently night is the best time to make money at the Cross and also in the dark alleyways - so I've heard icon_lol.gif

So we've had some of the hottest days here yesterday was 43C , which is pretty warm at least it was a dry heat for once and not humid. Thank goodness I've been in and out of the pool and air conditioning while watching the Australian Open (tennis).

We've been eating a lot of salads lately (I wonder why?) last night we had BBQ chicken with salad and I made potato salad.

Tonight we had BBQ steak & Angus Beef snags (sausages) salad, left over potato salad, tomatoes and onion.

Big day for us in Oz on Tuesday Australia Day so we have a public holiday and usually see family or friends for - you guessed it a BBQ and a swim.

Sending warm thoughts you way.

Hey Ladies...

Hope that everyone had/is having a great day! Sparkle...grits (hominy grits) is a white grain that is cooked until it is a porridge-like consistacy(similar to polenta). It is a popular food in the southern USA but it is sold all over the country. Its really good. Red eye gravy is gravy that is made from the pan drippings from fried salted ham steak. It gets its red color from the drippings that have been deglazed into a thin gravy. Its looks like a "red eye" when you serve it on top of grits.

43 degrees C...thats 135 F icon_eek.gif Man 'O Man I hope that my math is wrong!! Thats sweltering icon_surprised.gif If my math is right...be careful in that heat and try to keep cool. My goodness...I've never been in heat like that. I thought our measly highs of 100-104F (38 C) was hot icon_wink.gif Your salads and BBQ sound yummy...has me ready for summer.

Tonights din din was homemade beef stew and biscuits.

Hope that everyone has a great night icon_smile.gif

Hi everyone, I took my kids to the cheap theaters to see Where the Wild Things are. Then we went to Bob Evens. The kids had pancakes with bacon and juice/chocolate milk. My oldest split a chicken broccoli alfredo pasta with me. She had the all the chicken in her pasta and I had the broccoli in mine.
My DH is on his way home from work so I'll cut it short. I have to go and hurry to mop up the kitchen floor. (told him I'd do it before he got home.)

My math WAS wrong....I just couldn't believe that it could be 135 Degrees. I did the calculation like this (C+32)X1.8 when it should have been (1.8XC)+32. So...I am guessing its been somewhere around 109.4 Degrees F there in your neck of the planet. My God...that is still hot. Try to stay cool, Sparkle.

I hope that everyone is having a good morning!

Lita I've heard of grits but never knew what they were, the name just doesn't sound very appetising but I like polenta so would definitely give it a go and red eye gravy icon_wink.gif hmm think I might have to come to the US to try these things.
As far as the heat goes yup it's pretty hot and I cheated and went to a converter online to check the temps, you were right.
Today is Australia Day, Public Holiday here, lots of stuff happening in Sydney but it's going to be too hot for that 38C (100.4F) and it's really humid. So swimming, BBQ and air conditioning with the family is definitely the way to go. Not sure what we are actually eating but I'm taking potato salad, and a strawberry mud cake (it's a trial run for a wedding later in the year) and I know we'll be having pavlova for dessert it's at my BIL's place. There will also be a few beers thumbs_up.gif and water and we're taking a Sparkling Shiraz which is served cold and very light.
mkolmar - funny how that works kids never seem to like the "little trees" - so is Bob Evans a pancake & pasta place?
Happy Australia Day everyone

Sparkle I had to look up two of you things....pavlova and shiraz. Is the pavlova served room temp or chilled?
I also cheated and used the online converter to figure the temps. icon_wink.gif
Chuck E Cheese sells pizza, bread sticks, wings, and they have a salad bar.
I hope you have a great holiday.

mkolmar did you like the movie. We haven't seen it yet, but really wanted to. It was my son's favorite book while growing up.

Lita...YUM! I wanted beef stew today. But not what I decided to make.

A good friend of mine took me out on Saturday. She surprised me by making reservations for afternoon tea at a cafe down town.
This was the menu....

Miniature Scones
Served with Devonshire Cream and
Fruit Preserves

Canapés:
Curried Chicken Salad
Smoked Ham & Swiss
Tuna Salad
Cucumber & Dill
Smoked Salmon
Portabella with Herbed
Cream Cheese

Pastries:
Vanilla Petit Four
Mini Marzipan Peach
Chocolate Petit Four

We also each got a pot of tea so we choose two different ones so we could taste. We had a great Raspberry and a Chamomile Lemon. Both were really great. They served each of us all of that. I left there so full!! What a great treat. I must say that the Marzipan Peach was amazing.

Sunday night dinner we went to a pot luck at our pastors house. I took lasagna.

Tonight I am making bbq ribs (in my oven.....way to cold to do them outside). We are also having oven fries, ans some kind of veggie. Not sure yet....but time to go and finish dinner.

Have a good night.

Sparkle - It's a restaurant that serves a variety of different foods but pretty much everything is a home style type of dish. Hope things cool a little down for you soon. It's cold here and was snowing a little today.

OK, the H on my keyboard is not working right and I keep having to go back and hit the key a little harder than normal to get it to show up, so if I'm dropping H's that's why. UUGGGG, so annoying.

Anyways, tonight we had stuffed shells with spinach and ricotta cheese (as well as Italian cheese and seasonings) and garlic bread. Totally lacking a veggie, but ehhh....not so concerned about it right now.

Ohara - that sounds like a good time. I love scones and could eat my weight in them.

Hope you all have a great evening and wonderful meals in your stomachs.

Hi everybody!!
I've been trying to get something posted all day. I hope all my table friends are well and happy.

Ohara, the only place that serves pizza worse than Chuck E Cheese, is Ci Ci's. icon_razz.gif I'll at least eat the pizza at Chuck E Cheese. Your afternoon tea sounds so wonderful! One day, when I have my life back again, I would like to host a tea party.

Lita, OMG! Red-eye gravy is one of my all time favorites. I love it plain or mixed into tomato gravy, and I will eat both on just about anything. Okay, maybe not cake. That would be gross, but toast, rice, potatoes, and so on.

Sparkle, that is some kind of serious heat. I don't think I could live down under. I am such a wuss. Your salads and BBQ sound fabulous!

Mkolmar, stuffed shells YUM!!!! I hope you are feeling back to your 100%.

Well, I didn't do so well on my last practical. icon_mad.gif I have to keep practicing. It was pate sucree tartlets. If it had been a tart, I would have done much better, but those stupid little tartlet pans are a bugger! I did better with the pie shell, but still didn't get honors. GRRRRRRR! This week it is pastry cream. I might actually stand a chance at getting honors on this one. We made bread this past week in class. It was such fun. I discovered about a thousand reasons my bread has never turned out. Did you guys know that when the recipe says "punch down the dough" it doesn't mean punch. It means gently fold. Why don't they just say that in the first place? icon_confused.gif

We are having the little bread things stuffed with spinach, feta, onions and dill.

Talk to you guys later. Take care and have a great night! icon_biggrin.gif

Hey Everyone!

I'm happy that the table is back in full force again icon_biggrin.gif . It looks as though everyone is having a grea day! Ohara...I'm happy that you had a great luncheon with your friends...the menu sounds devine. I'm with Mkolmar...love those scones icon_biggrin.gif . I bet your stuffed shells were awesome, mkolmar!

Sparkle...glad to hear that you are handling the heat well. Happy Australia Day to you! What are shiraz and pavlova? I've never heard of those foods. The strawberry mud cake sound super yum, also.

Glad to know that you are surviving school icon_smile.gif Don't fret over the tartlets..I'm sure you'll get it. The important thing is that you are learning and enjoying yourself while you are doing it. I'm sure your family and friends love that you are in school....they get to eat all your assignments icon_smile.gif

Me...I spent the day back and forth at the hospital with my mom. She had her gall bladder removed today. It's funny (well maybe not) but as rocky and strained as our relationship is....she is still my mother. Its weird seeing her looking weak and sickly because she can be heck on wheels when she is well. She made it though the surgery fine and will probably come home tomorrow. People think that I am strong but I don't have anything on her strength. She's a tough cookie. Yes..she did seriously abuse me emotionally and has done me dirty as an adult but I understand her and why she did the things she did....it doesn't exuse it but I understand her actions and her as a woman. As long as she doesn't decide to sabotage my life anymore....I'll always be there for her. Its weird how seeing your parent looking weak and helpless can make you see them in a whole different light.

Dinner for me was double cheeseburger, french fries, and a coca cola from McD's.

Y'all have a great night.

I miss you people...

Tonight~
Salad (really huge, with homemade asian vinegrette and LOTS of fixin's)

I'm off for my ritual midnight (late night) pot of tea and recorded episodes of "Grey's Anatomy"... I finally caved and watched it a few weeks ago... now I'm hooked! Dempsey's family still lives here & he's around from time to time, very approachable. I met him when I was in High School. To me he's "just a nice guy" with a Maine accent who happens to be on TV...sort of like Stephen King. Regular famous people, not snobs.

I'm coming down with a cold... I hope everyone's well. Night.

Hi Everyone. Kellertur - we missed you too!!!! Hope you are feeling better

I'm still a little weak but I'm doing much better. I actually went to the gym today and did 5 miles even though my time sucked and it about killed me. However, it's a good sign I wanted to go back to the gym.
I've been working a lot this week and have to be up again at 5am. You'd think I'd be use to it by now but every morning I struggle for at least 15 minutes wanting to jump back into bed.
My job is going well but I've been there for only 7 months and the honeymoon period is ending. I'm getting bored and finding it hard to advance my skills. The people there are older and don't want anything too fancy. As fancy as I can get is creme brule, crepes to order or cream puff swans without them having issues that they don't want it because they don't know what it is. I want to do more than this so we'll see. I won't quit my job but I'm looking for a creative outlet that's for sure. I get to expand my *very little* bit of knowledge about gluten free though since 2 people have gluten allergies.

Mightydragon- don't worry about your practicals, you'll recover it in no time. Just shake it off and keep o moving girl, you can do it!
Lita- hope your mom is doing better. Isn't it odd how families can be so distant but yet so close when it comes to caring and emotions for each
other.

Dinner tonight was baked chicken and spaghetti o's (fine dinning tonight ladies, don't be jealous icon_lol.gif ) I'm really not into eating meat right now so I had carrot-pineapple-raisin slaw and applesauce with some bread. I'm getting ready to drink some rice milk and go to bed. Sadly, even my favorite decaf tea's are keeping me awake at night.....or it could be the insomnia. icon_lol.gif

kellertur it is good to hear from you! Sorry to hear that your not feeling well. I with you on loving Grey's Anatomy. We have them dvr'd....so I am behind. Nice to hear that Dempsey is a nice guy.

Mightydragon I have to agree with you on CiCi's pizza. I don't know what it is about that place but I do not like it.
Hang in there with school...you'll do just fine.
Thanks for the information on the bread. I always punch mine down. Next time I will try the fold method and see what happens. Your right if we are not supposed to punch it down....why say that?

Lita I hope your mom is doing well. Sounds awful....but you double cheeseburger sounds SO good. I have been wanting Mcdonalds. I love their french fries when they are hot!

Mkolmar glad to hear that you are feeling better...although it sounds like your very tired. I'm sure being sick, having 4 kids, a job and a house to take care of isn't helping that situation!
I love carrot pineapple and raisin slaw. YUM! I very rarely get to have it...I'm the only one here that will eat it.

Last night for dinner I made sausage stew and Italian bread. Another soup night. icon_wink.gif

I hope you all have a great day!

Hey, hope all is well with everyone.
I am fighting a very annoying head cold... I never got sick until this year, and now I'm getting slammed. Doesn't last long, but you know the drill... sinus headache, backache, neck in a vice grip... drink lots of tea and fight it like Hell!! "my head is hurty" as my daughter would say.

Tonight is going to be Indian Food ~ very nice treat.
