Sparklepop--no problem, I'd adopt you any day. My kids don't appreciate my meals anyway. It be nice to have someone else in the house who does besides DH. Of course I'd rather live in Australia so we may have to re-think this plan.

I'm not sure what's for dinner tonight, more than likely will be leftovers.

Hey Ladies,

Hope that everything is well with you all! Sorry I've been MIA for a while. I've been visiting my mom, working, and baking. I am so happy they kept me on at Williams-Sonoma. I get to work while doing what I love. That place is a foodie's paradise...and that I am icon_lol.gif

Thanks for the kind words regarding my mom. She is back in the hospital and is trying to keep her spirits up. I know she is in good hands because of the hospital she is in and the team caring for her.

CONGRATS Sparkle on placing in the cake competition! That must have been exciting! Your dinner sounds amazing....I'd love to try Kangaroo icon_biggrin.gif . I also love prawns. I'm happy to know that things are going well and that your are happy icon_smile.gif .

Mkolmar...your din dins always sound divine! Cajun home fries...YUMMO! Very creative. Did you attend culinary school?

Dinner for me was chipolte chicken over rice and a snickerdoodle cuppie for dessert. Yesterday was lettuce wraps with japanese chicken.

You Ladies have a Fabulous evening icon_biggrin.gif

Hi Guys!
I've missed talking to you all. As always, everyone's dinners sound sooooo delicious! We are still doing the freezer dive. Last night was stuffed peppers. I love having a nice chest freezer otherwise we would be eating a lot of cereal.
Classes are going pretty well. I made honors on my midterm! Wooo Hooo! This past week was chocolate week. It was great fun!

Ohara-Congratulations on DH's new job! I am so happy for you! You trip to Mexico sounds fabulous! I'm glad you had a great time
Sparkle-Congratulations on your cake! That is awesome. I need to look at your pics so I can see it. icon_smile.gif
Lita-I am sorry to hear that your mom is back in the hospital. I hope she is better soon. Glad to hear that your job is going well and that you continue to enjoy it.
Mkolmar-I'm glad to hear that you and the kids are feeling better.

Take care everyone and I hope you all have a fantabulous day! icon_lol.gif

Hey Ladies,

That's awesome, Mkolmar! I bet culinary school was so much fun. That explains how you can come up with such exotic and fabulous meals icon_smile.gif

Congrats on Ace-ing your midterms, Mightydragon...I knew you could do it icon_smile.gif . Sooooo...you all finished chocolate.....I am smiling just thinking about all the yummy things you all must have made. I am a serious chocoholic icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif . Godiva for eating... Ghiardelli and Guittard for baking are my favs. Your stuffed peppers sound great!

HA! I don't know about exotic and fabulous. School was great but I've learned more out of school I think. I wish I would have went for a baking pastry program sometimes but I enjoy cooking also. Not sure about the whole business end though, so much work.

My kids are better but I'm not. Tonight was cereal. Oh yeah! I just want to crawl back into bed. I have to call off work again tomorrow and I had to last week also. icon_cry.gif My son's b-day is tomorrow and I don't think I'll be making him a b-day treat for his class unless I can find a mask to go with my gloves. Other than that I'll more than likely be buying chips or a cookie cake or something.

Tonight was baked chicken (DH had BBQ sauce on his), honey glazed carrots, acorn squash smash with a little butter and brown sugar and parmesan-romano cheese risotto.

I'm going back to work tomorrow since I'm better, not sure I want to. Really miss being at home more in some ways.

I'm happy that you are feeling better, Mkolmar! I know it can really stink being sick icon_sad.gif . I'm sure you'll feel even better once you are back in the swing of things. Your dinner sounds yummy....I love risotto!

With my mom being in the hospital, I haven't been the healthiest eater lately. They had to go back in to clear another obstruction. She looks good considering she just had major surgery...again. The team caring for her is good so I am not really worried about her well being. Today I had fast food...I tried to make it healthy by ordering a grilled chicken sandwich with no mayo but I am sure that the french fries I had threw my good intentions out the window icon_wink.gif Yesterday's dinner was sauteed chicken breast, mixed Italian veggies and stuffing with cranberry relish on top.

Hope that everyone else is doing well.

You ladies have a great night!

I had my son Trents b-day party today for his friends. He's 8 and loves old cartoons, even the black and whites. He wanted his favorite cartoon on his cake, Tom and Jerry. My first time modeling any figures. Not to swift but I guess they were ok.

Tonight was cheese pizza, cheeto's and birthday cake from this afternoon.

My daughter has a slight fever though and decided not to eat which was a good thing. She puked on me.

Wow doesn't time go quickly I thought I only posted a couple of days ago and you guys have been so busy posting away.
The weather here is wet and humid at the moment we've hit autumn (fall) and waiting for the cooler weather to arrive. Though we won't get anywhere near as cold as a lot of you guys have had.
We're planning a beer tasting night at our place which involves all things beer icon_wink.gif . We'll be trying beers we've never tried before and all food will be cooked with beer or beer related. So we've got a little group together of "maybes" and worried not enough people would turn up and the date was getting closer, I asked my son if he and a mate would like to come (bad move icon_eek.gif ) so now my daughter is upset she can't come (she doesn't even drink beer icon_confused.gif ) as she has a wedding on that day. My DS and DD have a lot of friends in common, DS has got 3 people coming. So now I'm not sure whether I've got to change the date just to keep DD happy icon_cry.gif originally it was for only DH and my friends icon_cry.gif. Think I'll drown my sorrows in a beer icon_wink.gif
icon_biggrin.gif go mightydragon - honours you go girl, and any left over chocolate well my hands up.
I haven't posted any photos for a while but will put the Harry Potter one on soon. Thanks for the congrats but it wasn't all that good.
mkolmar you can move down here not a prob as long as you and the family are feeling better.
DH and I just had our swine flu shot as a precaution the kids are going during the week, hope we've done the right thing.
Tonight we had a BBQ (again) beer marinated prawns on asparagus skewers, pork spare ribs, home made potato salad and green salad.
Have a great week everyone

Mkolmar, I'm afraid if my daughter puked on me, I'd probably puke right back on her. Not on purpose, it would just happen. That is one of those bodily fluids I cannot handle! icon_razz.gif I hope she is feeling better. I was glad to hear that you were better.

Lita, how is your mom doing? I hope she is better soon. That has got to be so hard on you. You both are in my prayers.

Sparkle, You did the right thing getting your swine flu shot. That is a nasty flu, and you don't want it. I got both the swine and seasonal flu shots last fall and felt fine. Never got sick. I can't wait to see your cake.

So, last week was cake week in class. You would think that this would be something that I would really excel at, but not so much. I think I spent too much time helping other people level fill and frost their cakes that I ran out of time and didn't get all of my cakes done. Oops. icon_rolleyes.gif We are doing fondant and tiering this week. I am going to try to do a topsy turvy cake. I've never done one and I can't think of a better time to try it.

Still doing the freezer dive. Last night was a savory gallette.

Hey Ladies,

Hope that all is well in your neck of the woods. I'm happy that the table is getting full again. I know that everyone has been busy with life. I'm sorry to hear that your little one was under the weather, mkolmar. I'm the same as mightydragon when it come to vomit but I know that mommies have to do what mommies have to do in order to take care of their children.

Sparkle...your diner sound yummy. I can never have too much BBQ thumbs_up.gif

Mightydragon...your gallette sounds yummy! Its good to hear that you are enjoying and mentoring in culinary school. Thanks for the prayers for my mom and I. She is still having some issues while in the hospital but I think that they won't have to operate again. She is starting to have periods of feeling a little down. You see..my mom has always been a worker bee. She's always on the go so being ill and hospitalized is really hard on her. I just told her that we come from a long line of strong women and to fight like hell. She has been through a lot in life and nothing has broken her. I think she'll be ok. Even though she may feel a little discouraged now...she is a tough cookie.

Dinner for me was on the run...double cheeseburger (Yup...I said DOUBLE icon_wink.gif ) and onion rings.

Y'all have great night!

Hello table friends! Sorry it has been so long since I posted. My computer is still not fixed. DH says this weekend. Here's hoping.

Life is busy here. The sun has been out the last few days and that is a GREAT thing. It actually seems like spring may be on the way. I hate to think it because chances are we will get more snow before we actually get spring. I am enjoying it while it's here though. icon_wink.gif

We have picked up another virus, that is making it's way through my family. As like mkolmar, my little one threw up on me Friday night.
It seems to have settled into a cold.

The baby got a new tooth on top of the virus. So he want's the mama all the time. I love to sit and hold him....just not much gets done that way. Ha!

mkolmar I hope yours are all better soon. Did this little bit of spring make it all the way up to you?

Lita I'm sorry to hear that your mom is still having a hard time. I know that adds a lot to your plate (so to speak). And your double cheese burger sounds yummy!

Mightydragon I can't wait to hear how your topsy turvy cake comes out. I am so glad that you are enjoying school.

Sparkle congratulations on the cake! Thanks for the happy dance on the job. We are very relieved.

Kelletur....good to hear from you. I hope you and yours are well.

Well I have been cooking and cooking.....some days it seems that is all I do. That and all the dishes I used to cook.

Last night I roasted a pork loin out on the grill. I also made garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet corn and Italian bread.

I hope you all have a blessed day!

I thought I would pop in. The table needed dusting off. icon_surprised.gif I know everyone is really busy. I hope all is well in your worlds. It has been beautiful weather here the last few days. I am encouraged that spring really will come.

Dinner last night was tater tot casserole, sweet corn, green salad, Italian bread and pecan pie sticky bars. Was just going to be those of us who live here, then oldest daughter called, then it was 8 of us, then my oldest son called and said that he was bringing his friend home as well...ok, 9 of us for dinner. Thankfully there was enough to go around. It was a very loud dinner!

I have no idea what I'm cooking tonight. I have kind of hit a wall on ideas. I am going to read some recipes for ideas.

Have a blessed day!

Lita- I'm glad your mom is back home!

Tonight is breaded chicken, pasta, garlic bread, glazed carrots and chocolate-choc.chip cookies.

I'm doing well, no complaints, family is healthy so that's a plus. Saving up for vacation so I'm working a little more right now to prepare for that.

Ohara- We are going to Orlando, Florida. I've been putting money aside for a while now. I still don't have enough saved for everything but my goal is to try to not use the credit card. I have enough right now saved up for all of the theme park tickets for 7 days and also the hotel. Glad to see that we are getting back in the swing of things. I am sooo happy that Spring is here icon_biggrin.gif . Your vacation sounds like its going to be a blast, mkolmar. I haven't been to Disney since I was 17 but I know that its an amazing place....so much to do. Are you all going over to Universal Studios, too? I've never been there but its on my "to see" list. I don't blame you for wanting to pay for the vacation in cash. You're a wise woman.

I love Hot Dogs, too, Ohara. I have been on a hot dog hiatus for a while but I broke down and bought a pack a few days ago to make corn dogs and now I can't seem to stay away from them icon_lol.gif

I'm with both of you on needing a vacation. I may try to go away this year...don't know when but its is now officially a goal for 2010...to take a vacation icon_wink.gif

hello again... is my seat still here? if it is i'm sure it has at least an inch of dust on it icon_smile.gif

Seeing you girls talk about vacations is making me envious. I want one too! But not this year, I was laid off again and we're expecting baby#2 in July so no traveling this year. Maybe next year.

As for meals.... well since i've become a SAHM the last month been playing around with some new things. Although last night was our weekly meal of Spaghetti and french bread (family favorite, can't go a week without it around here)

Our baby girl is starting to eat a lot more table foods so i've been trying to make more rounded out/balanced meals, does anyone have some suggestions for vegetables? My BF and I typically only ate corn, green beans (which she loves) and broccoli. I have gotten spinach into a few meals, but i'm at a loss for other vegies. Any recipe or ideas would be appreciated!

And I promise to try to visit the table more often icon_smile.gif

Hi Everyone!

Hope that everyone is doing well with everyone! Welcome back, Leily! Congrats on baby #2....how exciting icon_smile.gif . For you, being laid off is a blessing in disguise. You get to spend time with your little one and also get to prepare for #2. As far as new veggies go...maybe she'd like some mashed yams seasoned with a little butter and cinnamon. I eat baked yams with nothing on them..but that just my taste. Or even pureed carrots with maple syrup. For green veggies...she might like broccoli and spinach seasoned with a little garlic and EVOO or cooked in chicken broth. I truely believe that children can be taught to like veggies...its all in the preparation icon_wink.gif . Good Luck!

Dinner for me was mall prepared sesame chicken and green tea.

Lita, Thanks for the suggestions! I believe that too. And I have had NO problems at all in getting her to eat any of the veggies that come in the baby food area. But most of them i've never cooked (i grew up in a meat/pototato/corn household) so really looking to try something new for all of us.

Your welcome, leily! My taste buds get bored easy so I like to try new things in the culinary world. I am a self-confessed foodie icon_wink.gif . I also plan to train my children to eat all sorts of food and, from what I've read, the earlier you start that training the more successful you'll be. You can do the same thing. Just introduce them slowly and give her time to acquire the taste of the veggies. If she doesn't like them the first time she tries them..try again a little later....she just might need a little time before she decides that she definately hates (or loves) that food.

Hope that all is well with the other tablemates!

Dinner for me will be chipolte chicken breast and salad with Pomegranent Vinegarette.

Hi everyone! Welcome back Leily and congrats on baby #2! I'm really happy for you and your budding new family.

Lat night was leftovers. Tonight will be honey BBQ porkchops, smashed red-skinned potaotes, honey-glazed carrots and rolls.
I'll have something different like a nice salad.

Ohara- I wanted to go over spring break but I have to work Easter and then had an event to do the following weekend, which is now canceled.
Anyways, we will be there the first week of May. I have to pull the kids out of school which I'm not happy with. However, I asked all of their teachers and principal before planning and they told me to take them since they are still in elementary school it's not as big as a deal as say middle/high school. I figured we better go now otherwise we may not be able to go again any time soon. I'll be picking up another 1 or 2 days at work next month to help us finish paying it off. I really hate using credit cards and my goal is to not touch them. I'll pm you with some stuff I found out to help you with your trip.

I will start this out by saying, when it's Spring finally, and you wake up and are surprised to see snow covering the ground it may not be your best day. I hope I'm wrong....because there is snow all over here this morning! The good thing is I know it won't last the day out.

mkolmar at least it won't be so crowded the first week of May as it probably is over Easter break. It sounds like great fun!

leily your seat is always waiting for you! Congratulations on expecting baby number 2 party.gif It is great to have you back at the table.

Lita I hope you get to take a vacation this year! How's your mom doing?

My dad has been here visiting this week. I so enjoyed his visit. It does make for a busy week though! My older children want to spend time with Papa to! So we had big family dinners both Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Which means lots of cooking. I also try to spoil my dad with the foods that mom used to make. She was darn good at it and he misses her so much.
The last couple times he was here my angle biscuits just didn't turn out great. Very frustrating. So this time I went out and bought new yeast and new baking powder. They were great this time. Dad thought so to. I think he had 4 or 5! He and my son were comparing what went better with them....blackberry jelly or strawberry jam! ha!

So let's see....

Monday was roasted pork loin, homemade macaroni and cheese, peas, Italian bread and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Tried to make mom's shortcake. Mine was a little heavier than hers. It didn't stop dad from eating the whole thing though.

Tuesday I made beef stroganoff, noodles, green beans, applesauce, angle biscuits and Italian cream cake.

Wednesday I made lasagna, sweet corn, cottage cheese and garlic bread. We also had left over cake. I was going to make a new dessert, but we went to an Amish place for lunch and none of us were to hungry. Also the cake is dad's favorite.

Thursday night....just DH, myself and the babies for dinner. We ate leftovers. Including that darn cake that keeps calling my name. I can just feel my butt getting bigger with each bite. icon_redface.gif

The babies have a nasty cold. I guess it's going around here. I hope all our table family is well. Have a great day!

Hi Ladies,

Hope that all is well with everyone! Ohara...snow icon_eek.gificon_confused.gif . My goodness. I thought that mother nature would be kind and let that last snow storm in February be it for the season but I guess I was wrong icon_sad.gif . Hopefully, you all won't get too much. It has been rainy where I live. I guess if we want those May flowers were going to have to put up with being a little soggy. Your dinners sound awesome. I LOVE baked macaroni and cheese. I'm glad to hear that your father came over and spent time with you and your family. Even though I do not have a relationship with my father (its really complicated) I do know the important role fathers play in our lives..even though mine didn't play it. From his absence I know what I missed. Its good to hear that you are staying connected with yours. Hope your little ones feel better soon.

Leily...your enchiladas sound great. So does the Angel food cake.

Mkolmar...your dinner sounds yummy.

Thanks for asking about my mom. She is doing much better. She came home from the hospital a week ago and her GI system is working well. Her only complaints are that she doesn't have much of an a appetite and that her food doesn't have any "taste" but its just he antibiotic she is on. I told her to wait until she completes it and her taste buds should wake back up again. She caught one of those SUPER hospital acquired bugs after her surgery so they still have her on one of the heavier antibiotics.

Dinner for me was tossed salad and a slice of pizza. I haven't done much cooking over the last week because I've been working....I've been eating on the run.

You all have a great day!

Hi everyone. Love to see the table in action. Hope the missing members can come and dine sometime soon.

Tonight was leftovers.

I've been busy working. Trying to decide if I want to go full time in the fall or go for a culinary teaching job opening up. I just want to do what's best for my kids so I'm trying to weigh out my options.

It's cold and rainy here today. I prefer the warmth.
