I also had a big personal victory last night...DH and I were sitting down to watch a movie...I stopped by the pantry to find a snack, and while I was reaching for the Pringles, I suddenly realized, I'M NOT HUNGRY!! I skipped the snack and enjoyed some peace of mind.
WooWoo! I bet that felt good!

Hey Rambo we were down in your neck of the woods this weekend. We had to go to Costco and Albertson's, which we don't have up here. Then of course we always stop at WinCo, man you can't beat their prices. I wanted to get to Micheals while we were there but ran out of time.
.
I always go to WinCo any more, Wally's has upped their prices drastically, I think I'm paying for the new Pasco store. It's kind of funny to think one day we may be standing in line together and not even know it. Though I see Shelbur at the gym all the time
LOL Hate to see her gas bill.
My weekend wasn't too bad. I was working on cake and was so consumed I didn't have any temptations. Which makes me realize I am much more a "boredom" eater than and "emotional" eater these days. We did have friends in town last night and ended up at Olive Garden, and late in the evening at that, so I threw all my advice about healthy choices out the window and ordered the seafood alfredo
The happy ending is, I was so hungry I had double servings of salad, a breakstick and two glasses of water so I was stuffed when the meal came and only managed about 3 bites. It is now in my fridge but my kids love that stuff so I'm off the hook
Now if I can drag myself to the gym this week I'll be extra proud of my efforts. ![]()
I am SO SO excited!
I went to the dr about my back today and discovered that the culprit is an inflamed disc. So I'm on steriods now to take down the inflammation and I should be back to normal soon. NO SURGERY!!
I CAN'T WAIT to get my workout back on track!!
Congrats Shellie! How soon can you expect to start feeling better?
That is GREAT news Shellie! And good for everyone else doing so well over the weekend. I did pretty well I think, I had a big work out on Saturday and kept my snacking to an almost non existant level.
If I can get control of this headache I plan to work out when I get home tonight. I made dinner last night and stuck it in the fridge for us to eat tonight so I will have the time as it's heating up (and for the record, it's VERY healthy and low fat and I'm STILL excited about it).
I'm felling a big week for us. I hope so anyway.

So what's your big lot fat healthy meal you are having?? I am always looking for new things to eat that I dont feel guilty about!
I am making a beef stir fry tonight, lots of veggies! Yum! It it from the dr. phil cookbook. It says it is 175 calories, but I probably eat a couple of servings ![]()
I am not sure I have really been loosing weight, but i will say that I am happy that I am starting to form some good habits. Drinking water is getting pretty easy for me. I enjoy working out. I am starting to think about my food choices more, and making better choices. I know I still really need to work at this to accomplish my goals, but I feel good about my progress so far in that department.
We had oven baked chicken breast, corn on the cob, mashed potaoes, green beans and cressant rolls for dinner. I had chicken, corn, green beans. So that is a mager accomplishment for me. And no secounds either!!!!! YAY ME!!!!!
That is great news for your back Shellie! Surgery is no joke for sure. Did they say how long till the steriods decrease your inflamation? Ihope it very soon, back pain is merciless.
Ahhhhh (insert lightbulb) how about a healthy recipe exchange? I'm always looking for something different from our basic 12 (the average recipes a family actually uses)
I've got one so here it goes
Sizzling Chincken Fajitas (from Easy Everyday Cooking Cards)
Ingredients:
3/4 quarter cups fresh lime juice
1/2 cup vegetable oill
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts (about 1lb total cut into strips)
1 large onion thinly sliced
1 large bell pepper
8 large tortillas (use whole wheat for extra nutrition)
optional:
1 large tomato seeded and chopped
Low fat sourcream
Low fat shredded cheese
salsa
lettuce
Directions:
Combine lime juice, oil, garlic, salt, cumin, and red pepper flakes in a bowl. Reserve 1/3 of the marinade. Add chciken to bowl, cover and marinate in refrigerator for 10 minutes (I do this early in the afternoon and let it sit longer for more flavor)
Preheat grill. Heat a very large heavy skillet over med/high heat. Add onion and bell pepper and half the reserved marinade. Stir Fry for 3 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender
Grill Chicken, turning and basting with reserved marinade. Add to skillet and stir into vegetables.
Fill tortillas with mixture and top with optional toppings.
I sometimes just short cut it and throw the marinated chicken into the skillet, merinade and all, cook thoroughly, drain off excess liquid, add veggis and reserved marinade and stir fry until tender but still crisp.
These are very light, there's no heavy sauce feeling to it and the lime is a nice refeshing kick.
Wow, sounds yummy, Rambo!
Thanks to all of you for your thoughts. I started the oral steroids today and I feel great already (still on the painkillers, though). I should keep seeing improvement, then when I get the epidural, it should be instantaneous. My dr. is trying to get me an appt with the neurosurgeon in the next week or so. I'm feeling so good now, I am hoping to get in at least a little bit of a workout tomorrow morning. (The steriods are making me SUPER hyper. DH asked why I am talking so fast...lol)
I had a bad dinner tonight, my pork didn't thaw in time, so we had baked ravioli. But only one helping for me. And yesterday we made a big pot of homemade chicken soup, so I'll be having that for lunch all week.
I see now that I didn't mention...in addition to the oral steriods, I have to see a neurosurgeon to have an epidural done with steriods. Hopefully an epidural is easier to administer when you're not currently having labor pains...LOL
Well I did it, finally! I got up at 5 am and worked out. Couldn't do the whole DVD, but it's a start!! Worked up a heck of a sweat. Who's with me for a FAT-CELL BLASTING DAY??? ![]()
I say we BLAST those fat cells right outa here! I did pretty good yesterday. Drank all my water and ate very reasonably. I only snacked on 2 plain nfsc after dinner but that's all. Plus I did alot of laundry which for me is an effort because my washer&dryer are down in my basement and running my 2 year old up and down the stairs with me everytime to change out loads and cleaning my whole house top to bottom got almost aerobic!
I did the dreaded on top the light fixture cleaning and washing, drying & ironing the drapes all over the house as well. But I was so busy I didn't think about food. Heck, I even forgot to eat lunch all together.
I will look for my recipes and find a good low fat/low calorie one to pass on for sure. I am off to walk my 2 miles before DH and DD get up. ![]()
Sounds good Rambo. I love fajitas! Thank you for a new recipe, I will definitely try them. When I think of a good recipe, I will post one.
Good for you shellie! I need to go to the gym this morning. I should have gotten up early like you, but now I have gotten sucked into another tv show (24) so I stayed up watching that and didnt feel like getting up early!
Way to go Tuesday, that's fantastic. I actually did work out last night before dinner but I don't think it was probably the best thing for me. I still had the headache and not it's in full force this morning. Anytime there is a big shift in the weather, I pay for it with a headache. Hopefully we will stay constant for awhile.
Sorry about the double post the other day, I don't even know how I did that! To answer your question though, I made a mini chicken ball and gnocchi with tomato sauce. It was fantastic. I had never had gnocchi before so that was a little different but I liked it none the less. Now, if only I hadn't ended my day with a giant bowl of buttered popcorn! Good news is that I woke up today and turns out, today is a whole new day. A fat buster day at that!
Good job everyone on their workouts! I too made it to the gym this morning. I did my lower body weights (which I havent done in awhile...so I might be paying tomorrow as well) and then I did about 20 minutes of cardio. Then the really great part is that I get to take a shower and get ready at the gym. It's great not to have to have the bathroom door open while you are taking a shower and do it at sonic speed while trying to watch the kids. That is my reward for going!
Thanks for all the support girls, it really helps! ![]()
imtrying: what is gnocchi? I love to try new foods.....
trust me I do! ![]()
Also popcorn isn't too bad for you even with butter and a <little> salt. I read it has alot of fiber and fills you up quicker and gives you that full tummy feeling that sweets don't. That can make you want to try a little more something sweet or salty. I like that kettle corn beacuse it's sweet and salty at the same time and there for I eat less junk but still get my sweet/slaty fix. Beats chips and peanutbutter M&Ms! That was a usual in my house as a snack combo, one after the other.
Boy have my waist and thighs paid for that one. But I really think this thread has helped me feel more inspired and more accountable also. Double trouble for them ol' fat cells! ![]()
Is everyone working hard today? Tomorrow is weigh in! I am doing well so far today. I went to the gym this morning even though my buns are pretty sore from my lower body weight training yesterday. So I thought I would just take an easy run on the treadmill. I slowed it down a little but I actually ran for 30 minutes straight and also did 15 minutes walking. I dont ever think I have run that much in my life. I have been running pretty regularly for the past year even though I am really a terrible runner. I guess I am getting better! So I feel pretty good about that.
I just have a feeling though that I havent lost any weight. I think I am realizing that what I am doing is only enough to maintain my weight. That is kind of a scary thought to me, but I see why I have gained weight the past couple of years. It would probably be working if I could just stop cheating on the diet part. So I think I am going to have to rethink my plan of attack! Has anybody tried the south beach diet? My mom has the book and I thought maybe I could borrow it and give it a go. Maybe something new might get me excited about the food part. Or what I should do is actually take a week and REALLY commit, see if I loose weight or not, then I will know if it is the diet or me! (its probably me!)
Have a good day everyone!
Good morning ladies! It's good to see the website up and working well in time for our weigh in! Well, I lost two lbs this week, which takes me back to my start weight of 188. After my great news from my dr. about my back the other day, I saw the neurosurgeon...bummer. I guess my first clue should have been when she sent me to a surgeon...he thinks he will have to operate. He will try the steriods first, but doesn't think they will work. BUT, I'm not going to get down about it, I just need to manage my eating habits in order to lose weight, since I won't be able to work out for a while. If I try it now, I am likely to do more damage, it turns out I have a (and I quote the dr.) "huge ruptured disc" ![]()
So...for my goals last week:
1. Serve food on the smaller, kids' plates (smaller servings) - not met---I totally forgot!
2. 64+ oz of water every day - MET
3. Don't let my back problem get me down, and don't EAT when I'm feeling blue!! - MET, I had a great week emotionally!
New goals:
1. Serve meals on small plates
2. 64+ oz water per day
3. Healthy evening snacks
How did everyone do this week? Are we all ready for a FAT BLASTING fresh week?? As much as I have enjoyed my cheerleading duties this week, I am now going to pass the torch to Merissa...KEEP GOING LADIES, WE'RE DOING GREAT!! ![]()
Well I can't weigh in again as I have not bought a new scale yet. I forgot when I hit walmart and have been fussing with the roofers and the phone company all week. We are in the middle of getting our roof fixed from a leak and early yesterday our phone went out and the phone company hasn't shown up yet to fix it! ![]()
![]()
I keep having to use my husband's cell phone to try to get them moving,
I don't have one since I am at home most of the time we had forgone the expense of another phone. Now my DH will surely see the small expense of buying another phone is well worth it!
Maybe he will!
O.k. I did pretty well on my water and my child portions too. But my exercise has been hampered by having to be at my home non stop due to waiting on repairs...
But I feel like I have stayed steady. I haven't lost any inches for sure, I checked. ![]()
But I am optamistic.....new goals are as follows:
1. keep up with water intake
2. keep portions controled.,sp?
3. get my exercising done at least 4 xs this week I did so good with running the other day!
4.longer term goal:be at my goal weight of 120 by my birthady feb.14th.
I really want this birthday to not be hampered by my weight and having to watch every morsel that passes my lips. I want to go through this big 32 happier than any other birthady!
So come join me ladies and let's bust those fat cells right off the earth!!!!! ![]()

I gained one pound this week
I can't say I'm surprised at that, considering all of the birthday cake I ate over the past three days and my almost complete lack of exercise. Oh well. It's a new week (so to speak) and I'm going to get back into this NOW!
New goals:
1. exercise 5 times this week
2. dessert only two times this week (and small portions when I do have it)
3. no mindless snacking
-Lisa
I lost one pound this week. Not bad. I did fairly well, exercised five days, maintained portion control. Now, the snacking I have no excuse for.
My goals are going to remain the same I think, exercise, water, portion control and this week I am actually going to stay away from mindless snacking.
Here's hoping for another great week for all of us!
