I think I'm going to try that tomorrow, although I'm scared to do it over the weekend! I know my weak time of day is the same as yours - between 2 & 3 pm when I have gotten off the treadmill or gotten home from the Y & am waiting for the kids to come home from school. I just *want* something to eat! Keeping a journal will also help me remember what I've eaten so I won't double up on snacks like I did today icon_redface.gif This afternoon I had an apple, then about an hour later I forgot I had a snack already, so I ate a cereal bar icon_rolleyes.gif

Great ideas Rambo! I actually started a journal yesterday, so that one will be easy for me. It does seem to help me from eating extra snacks if I feel like I have to write it down. For those of you who said they have a difficult time of day, a tip I learned from Dr. Phil is to do something during that time that is incompatible with eating. (like use that time for exercise or clean the bathrooms, or do your bills, or your laundry, do errands, etc. None of that stuff sounds fun though does it icon_lol.gif ) Another thing that helps me is to chew gum.

I will take the pledge and no negative self talk!

Hi guys. Sorry I was absent for awhile. Sick babies and hubby make for a busy and distracted Mommy. But I weighed in at 125. So I am up 1 lb from last week but total weight loss is 4lbs. so I guess I'm still on track. The rolled buttercream cake I made for the last few days didn't help either! I am in love with that taste. icon_rolleyes.gif Have to get rid of that stuff......FAST! thumbs_up.gif But I was reading the idea on a cheerleader!!!!!
So Rambo I accept your cheery challenge and I will keep a food journal with the fatest pic of me right on the cover to remind me why I doing this and what I am trying to fix.
I also will not trash talk myself!
So girls here we go preparing for our weekends....I got my fingers crossed and I tip my water bottle to ya! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

Rambo, I love your challenges! I have done the food journal before, but when I was doing it I was counting calories, so I listed my total calories for the day. Well, needless to say, it became a hassle looking up all the calories. BUT, it is shocking sometimes how much we eat without realizing it! icon_surprised.gif
And I am a big believer in the power of positive thinking! I think DH has had a rare moment of senstivity, because he has starting calling me 'beautiful' and 'sexy' instead of by my name. icon_lol.gif I tend to want to roll my eyes, but I guess I am lucky, I have a perfectly thin and beautiful friend whose DH calls her fat and lazy all the time. icon_mad.gif

First that brought tears to my eyes for your good fortune but hurt my heart to hear someone else has to endure a mean spouse. You are supposed to be there to love and support eachother. I am fortunate enough to have a loving hubby and I just can't imagine putting him down....ever!

Oh and congrats on all those 10 year ann. How wonderful!!!!! party.gifparty.gifparty.gifparty.gifparty.gif

I know what you mean, Tuesday. My DH and I have had some very rough times in our relationship, but the love and respect was always there (far beneath the surface sometimes, but still there...)
But, I didn't mean to hijack the thread with a sad story...we are all very lucky to have such sweet DH's. Of course, my DH told me last night that he's tired of cake and cookies, now he would like to me to experiment with cheesecakes...oh, I will need all the self control I can get!!!

I read that book too. Paint your nails. The process will distract you, then you have to wait for them to dry and every time you glance at your perfect manicure you will remember your triumph.

Shelbur when you said your husband has been calling you sexy and what not it reminded me of my sweetest husband moment and I have to share, because they seem to be few and far between. icon_wink.gif My husband listens to a lot of rap and tends to forget he's a nerdy white engineer, and starts talking like he's an Mtv star. So a few months ago he started calling me Boo. Now I've heard this term many times and had NO idea what it was supposed to mean, but I used to be the nubian (sp?) goddess (ps I'm THE whitest white chick you will ever meet) so I didn't think anything of it.
Well a couple weeks ago he sent me an email and he closed it saying, "Thanks Beau" and it dawned on me all this time he's been calling me Beautiful. Needless to say that is my very favorite pet name.

Okay special sharing is over. My motivational quote for the day...."you do not need to see the top of the staircase to take the first step." thumbs_up.gif

Am I annoying any one yet?! icon_razz.gificon_lol.gif

Hi everyone...finally I went to the scale for the new year and I weigh 161. Not too happy but I figured before I start I have to see how much I weigh.
Anyway, got a call from a lady at work that goes to WW (we have it here at work on Wednesdays), she wished me a happy new year and told me that the instructor gave out new WW books for 2007. Wow, that is nice so I went over to see her and got my new stuff. She asked when I was going back (our classes got extended till 1/24) and I told her possibly next Wed. The problem is last time I went was 11/1 !!!! over 2 months ago and I never returned. I kinda wanna start again but how do I face those people? I will be so embarrased icon_redface.gif How do I answer any negative remarks from the group b/c I dropped out?

What do you think? do I go back?

Thanks,
Naty

Naty-
I hope they wouldnt be giving you negative remarks because you havent been there. If they do question you, you can just be honest about why you havent been there. The group of people should be encouraging and motivating. If you find they are negative, I would just find another meeting to attend. You shouldnt be embarrassed, good for you for giving it another try. I am sure everyone there has tried diets before and not stuck to it. Definitely go back and see what you think, if it's not for you try something else. And you have to follow this week's team leader, Rambo, and stay positive...it's a rule icon_lol.gif

Sounds good Rambo. I'm too late for the trash talk though. I made the obvious mistake of taking a bath instead of a shower last night.

Oh my, I not only got an eyeful of myself naked but all squished up in the tub too. I looked like one of those conveyor belts with all the rollers! icon_surprised.gif

Showers from now on!

That's exactly what I was going to say about WW. If your group doesn't say something along the lines of, Welcome back, we missed you, then you need a better group. Every time I get back on the weight loss wagon I just try to remind myself at least I found the strength to get back up.

For all you country music listeners you'll totally know where I got this quote...."if you hit rock bottom you've got two ways to go...straight up and sideways." I warned you all, I'm so in the motivational zone it's disturbing. Now if I could just bottle all this enthusiasm I've got oozing out, it would come in handy when my wagon loses it's wheel.

Oh wait Now I have you guys icon_lol.gif

This is awesome. Why is it considered such a bad thing to say nice things about yourself? (being conceited, etc) We all should take the time to recognize how many wonderful qualities we have!

Here goes:
1. I am a loving wife and mother
2. I am the best at my job
3. I make people laugh

OK, but this is hard! Only because I was taught not to voice good things about myself (yes shelbur10, my mom said I would sound too conceited). But you are absolutely right, there is nothing wrong with it.

1) I have a sense of humor
2) I am a good teacher

ummmmmm

3) being a little heavy gives me bigger b icon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gif bs!

I guess I have to step up since I posed the challenge.

#1. I am always willing to try new things.
#2. I try to always be completely honest, even with myself.
#3. I take good care of my family and friends.

okay and I just can't let the boob comment go. That is the one thing my DH commented on when I managed to lose that 20lbs last year. I was telling him my accomplishment and he gets all quiet and says, "That's great, I noticed you were slimming down....Just wish your boobs weren't getting smaller too." icon_surprised.gif I went from a D to a C for crying out loud!

Now see what I mean about the sweet moments coming few and far between - icon_rolleyes.gif Men icon_rolleyes.gif

Hey, I just happened upon this! The thread title caught my eye! Can someone please catch me up on all the requirements of the club. I've caught a few here and there spot reading but I'm so sorry didn't read everyone's input. Like I said I spot checked!!!

I am a 35 year old SAHM of two boys, 4 and 2. My DH is about ready to deploy for 7 months on the 15 of Jan so I really really need to have some support so I won't turn to chocolate every time I get depressed. We've been through three deployments already the last one being 4 years ago when my first was just 9 months old. Now we have two creeps, ER I mean boys so I know I will go nuts.

I am still losing weight. When I had my second boy in Dec. of '04 I weighed a horrifying 232!!! I put on so much water weight in the last month. I lost 30 pounds in one week. So far I have lost 53 pounds in the last two years. I have 19 pounds more to go to reach my goal weight of 160! I am 5'9" so people tell me that I don't look like I weigh 179 lb.

I am up for any support needed to help everyone here!!!

I have a goal of 160 lbs by the time my DH comes home Aug 16th.

To not stress eat

Hi amy! Welcome to our fun group! There are no real requirements for the group, but to be honest and encouraging! Here is a rundown of what we have been up to to catch you up.

Thursdays are our weekly weigh in. So if you feel comfortable state your starting weight, current weight, weight lost so far and your goal weight.

We are also writing ourselves measurable goals for the week (here is an example: I will drink 64 ounces of water each day, or I will exercise 3 times this week etc.) On thursdays we will also report on how we did on our weeks goals and write new goals as needed. This is all to help up feel accountable!

We also just started this week with a weekly team leader/cheerleader. They will come up with some challenges for us the coming week and help to keep everyone motivated. Might be good way to try out new ideas and tips from other people! This week is Rambo's week. She will select the next leader next Thursday!

Stop by any time though for fun and support!

And to add to merissa said we have been checking back on Monday to get a lifting word of encouragement and advice to fight off any weekend boo-boos we were subjected to. Like awesome cookies and cakes to be tasted, pizza fridays and sunday dinners from hickory farms!!!!! icon_lol.gif In other words we recooperate from our weekends. Then we have been doing no cheat wed. to help over that mid week hump. But welcome and come on in!

Thank you both!!!! icon_razz.gif

Okay, well my first confession. I just opened up a small box of Animal Crackers for my 2 year old and had about five of them!!!!! icon_cry.gif Man I love those. They do say don't take the box but a few out of the box and put the box back or the bag!

Here's a tip I do every morning before breakfast and every evening before dinner. I drink 1C of water with 2 tsp. of apple cider vinegar. It helps rid the body of excess sugar therefore helping to reduce water weight. It totally works but you of course can't each snack foods and expect it to work. Right now I am on a high-metabolism diet and just lost three pounds of water weight in one day. It works really well! That's the plan I am using!

Thank you Merissa....it has been a rough couple of days (Mom issue) but I have to take care of myself before I take care of any else!!! I will go on Wednesday and report here.

Three good things about myself:
1) I'm a good wife - I am putting up with hubby's midlife crisis (sports car and new "car friends" 1/2 his age).
2) I'm a good listener and humble person.
3) I think I'm a good mother and definately a good daughter.

Resolution for 2007:
1) To try not to control anybodyelse's life...just my own.
2) Be healthy for myself and my kids, not for hubby - - he has his car.

The ACV is not that bad if you are used to the taste of vinegar. You can mix it with apple juice at first to get used to it. If you don't like sour bitter foods then you might not like it. I don't "love" it but I definately tolerate it. I've been drinking it in water for a few years now. I just recently started using it with this high metabolism diet and WOW!!! It does really work. Two tsp. isn't that much in a cup of water. You can add more water to dilute the taste of the vinegar if you just can not stand it. You'll also find that you're going pee icon_rolleyes.gif quite a bit more during the day. More that what you take in!!!! That's you getting rid of all the excess water in your body!
