I lost one pound. I don't know how to count my total because the weight I started at was not my highest, I think I gained about 7 pounds between when we started and the first of the year. Anyway, I am back to my original starting weight so I have lost the 7 that I gained.
I did pretty well all week. Ice cream once, pop only twice and one of those was diet and exercise 4 days. Not bad. I'm hoping next week shows bigger numbers as last night I went out with the girls for fondue and while it was delicious, you can't put a vat of chocolate in front of me and think I'm going to behave myself!
Goals
1. drink water every day (I almost never do when I'm at home)
2. exercise 4 days this week
3. NO ICE CREAM (this one is tough, we have all kinds available for free where I work)
4. lose two pounds
5. give myself proper credit when I'm achieving goals on a daily basis.
On the subject of scales, I bought a nice one last year...It is a Health-O-Meter. I got it from WalMart for about $30. It's one of the few digital ones that has lasted and works accurately. It allows you to enter your height, set your goal weight (for up to 4 people) and each time you weigh, it will show your current weight, amount lost or gained, how many lbs to your goal, and your body mass index.
Well I maintained this week. 223 and holding. I'm not surprised, my workouts got thrown out the window. Apparently you're not supposed to walk puppies until they have all their shots because of something life threatening called Parvo - what do I know, so no walks. And the house was sucking the life out of me so the gym/aerobics got booted to overhaul all the Christmas clutter we collected. But eating has gone well which is probably why I managed not to gain.
Shelbur I have nothing but sympathy for you. I have major neck problems most of the time (my head's not on straight - and I have the Xrays to prove it
) The only thing I could think for exercise is a pool. If you don't have access to one, you're kind of out of luck. Don't do anything to make yourself worse, oh and don't drink alcohol with the vicadin. DH accidentaly did this after he nearly lost a toe last year and I thought he'd dropped acid, he was so messed up. ![]()
My team cheerleading week is up. I think it was really good for me because every time I'd start to feel like cheating, I couldn't because I hate those people who are "do as I say, not as I do". On that note it is much easier when you're doing it because other people are counting on you, sad but true. SO....I'm electing Shelly as the new team cheerleader. You won't be able to get down if you have to put on a happy face to keep us going - something like fake it until you make it. ![]()

LOL Rambo!
Okay, that's not a bad idea...I'll happily accept. I think we should continue last weeks' challenges of the food journal and no bad talking.
One more thing...when you're having that internal struggle over whether to have the cupcake or cookie (or whatever), drink a glass of water (to fill your stomach) and go weigh yourself (when practical). If I had known I was gaining this week, I probably could have stayed away from that candy bar... ![]()
Personal victory today, I opened a twinkie for my son and he changed his mind and asked if I would eat it. I VERY QUICKLY wrapped it up stuffed it back in the box and we made a quick exit for afternoon preschool, ten minutes early, but I had to escape the temptation.
YAY, I feel so big and strong ![]()
Good job Rambo!! My son does that to me all the time too - he doesn't finish whatever he's eating & says "you eat it Mom." I thank him for sharing & then tell him I'm full and he can give whatever it is to the dog. What tempted me the most was his PB&J he had for lunch today. That peanut butter smelled soooo good!
Keep it up!

Awesome, Rambo!! Lisa, I bet your dog is loving that new policy!!
I hope we're all geared up for a GREAT weekend! I know we can resist temptation!
I have learned one trick for keeping myself out of the kid's snacks...I buy them things that I don't really like. For instance, I really can't stand Goldfish. And they love them. And I don't have to feel that I'm depriving them of anything because they don't need to have the chips and cheetos anyway. I'm trying to teach them better habits than my parents taught me, and the 'really bad' junk food is just for every once in a while. I did buy them some of those little cheap wafer cookies last weekend and I am so proud for just about forgetting we even have them (I love those things!!)
Is everyone remembering the food journal? I really think that's probably the most useful tool in losing the weight and KEEPING it off!
O.K now I know how some of you cookie addicts feel. I made over 3 dozen nfsc and decorated them in r/b/c/ and b/c and lots of sanding sugar! It took gigantic amounts of willpower not to taste every kind. Especially since this is new medium for me to work with. So let's get it going today Ladies!!! get them fat cells on the run!!!!!
CHARGE!!!!!!! ![]()
Great job Tuesday!! I am so proud of all of us resisting all the temptation that surrounds us!
WE ROCK! YAY FOR US!! ![]()
(putting on my cheerleader skirt...YIKES...putting back on the baggy jeans...LOL)
sorry, my medication seems to be making me a little silly today ![]()
Helloooo....need some extra strength today from my cc club! It's friday and it's the night I REALLY want to go out....usually for pizza or burgers! Now I have said that I think one or two meals a week as a treat should not be a problem, it should help you stick to your diet overall. BUT....seems like I must be cheating too much else during the week because the weight just isnt coming off like I want it to. So I am thinking maybe my craving to go out is just that. It doesnt have to be fattening food when I go out. I just LIKE going out! So maybe I can hit applebees for the ww menu or maybe subway. Anybody have any other suggestions of places that I could eat healthy???
Merissa, I know what you mean about just wanting to go out. Get out of the house, have someone else make the food and then clean up after you too. It almost doesn't matter what's to eat, not having to clean is such a treat! I went to Friday's earlier this week and they have a delicious salad on their low fat menu. Oh, it was so good. It was pretty spicey but had grilled chicken on it and it was about 500 calories for the whole salad. Believe me, if you eat the whole thing you would have to be REALLY hungry. I think your idea of Applebee's or Subway is good to though, depending on what you are up for.
I have been exercising a lot more lately and I have to tell you, I feel really good. The scale didn't move much this week and it doesn't even matter to me because I feel better when I get up in the morning and I have more energy all day long. It's absolutely amazing. Now, if I don't lose much next week, I might be singing a different tune but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Merissa I think we've hit the "presentation" thing again. I so understand about wanting to go OUT. Iit's nice to let someone else cook, serve and clean up, even if it's only throw away the wrappers. You really can eat out anywhere it's just a matter of making better choices and watching your portions. WW talking here, Grilled chicken or fish, stay away from anything that says 'creamy sauce' or you know is a creamy sauce (alfredo) get the steamed veggis instead of a loaded baked potato and ask for your salad dressing on the side. Most places will bring you lunch portions, or 1/2 orders. Little changes add up, it just takes longer.
I'm gonna try to insert a link. It's Dotti's weight loss and it has points values for tons of different resteraunts and even if your not doing WW (which I'm not at the moment) knowing the points for things kind of helps get it into perspective. - Just for a frame of reference my daily points (at 223lbs) is 26.
Hope this helps http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html
Thanks for the link, that is really helpful. I did do ww at one time and it did work. I stopped going because I missed a meeting or two and i didnt want to pay for them when I went back. So anyway my point is, I still know how many points I should be eating. Great resource ! Thanks!
It is all about me not cooking, cleaning up, running around after the kids. It is a BREAK! Since I am with the kids 24/7, I just want to be taken care of once in awhile too! Now I am not saying I wouldnt PREFER a burger or something, I can live without it. I always feel really proud when I leave a restaurant having made the healthier choice.
I love going to TGIFridays so I'm glad to hear they have a good, healthy salad.
I'm going to need willpower tomorrow night when my husband makes fried chicken for the football games. That's going to be our dinner tomorrow night, so maybe only one piece ![]()

Isn't it just great to see everyone planning on how we are going to manage the temptations that the weekend brings? Facing the realistics challenges of our lives will bring us success!
My family instituted 'pizza night' last week, so we'll be making pizza on Saturday. But, it is homemade, so I can choose healthy veggie toppings, and a thin crust. (instead of that huge, four meat deep dish DH made last week...)
No worries, Tuesday, one misstep won't ruin your week. At least meat and cheese is technically good for you...another one of my wacky theories, if you're going to 'cheat', it's better to eat things that your body can actually use, instead of just straight junk food.
We made it through the weekend!!! I had a couple of missteps, but I also had a big personal victory last night...DH and I were sitting down to watch a movie...I stopped by the pantry to find a snack, and while I was reaching for the Pringles, I suddenly realized, I'M NOT HUNGRY!! I skipped the snack and enjoyed some peace of mind.
I was so-so this weekend. I went out to eat twice and both times I chose a healthy meal. So that was a victory. but I dont feel like I was truely commited to the diet this weekend. I dont think I went overboard, but I still have a part of my brain that tells me I could have done a little better. I was planning to hit the gym this morning, but now that it has snowed, my kids just want to go outside. I think they will throw a fit if I take them to the gym. Hmmm I will have to figure something out.
Good luck this week! 3 days until weigh in!
Merissa, I think snowball fights and chasing kids around in snow could be counted as a workout in a pinch...or maybe you could do like I do, bribe the kids...if they can behave nicely at the gym, they can play outside afterwards for x amount of time.
(yes, I know you're not supposed to bribe your children, but sometimes you just gotta do what works...)
oh I totally bribe them all the time about going to the gym. I missed my opportunity this morning to go because my oldest is in pm kindergarten, so I have to have them fed and ready to get on the bus...no time now. Then I hate to go in the afternoon because my youngest takes a nap! Then when he gets up I dont have enough time to go because I have to wait for the bus. You know how this goes right, moms? so my best bet is to get up at 5 am and get back before my husband leaves for work or get there by nine. Maybe I can still work it in this evening. I really wanted to get there today! I know I can make it work if I really want to!
I totally understand time crunches, I have a 2 year old and a 13 year old! There's school games, activities, play dates, shopping,(just grocery not fun stuff!) and don't forget the dog's vet app. the cat vet app. Plus I do things for my husband's business too.
I make, bake and decorate to have time to myself and use my creative energy in some way other than coloring, fixing hair issues, and printing out invoices and calling to confirm business appointments. All that should keep weight down you would think! ![]()
I'm not going to be able to go to the gym at all this week
The kids have off today (MLK day), tomorrow, and Wednesday (teacher workdays). While they're off I have two doctors appointments to go to and the usual errands to run. When they go back to school on Thursday I have my hair appointment (getting shaggy!) and Friday I volunteer at school. I am so glad we bought a treadmill last summer because I will at least be able to do that in the evenings.
I did fairly well over the weekend - only one piece of fried chicken each day, but I did eat quite a few biscuits (I make a pretty good biscuit if I do say so myself
). These next few days will really test me - yesterday my daughter & I made our (mine & DH's) birthday cake, which, you know, must be eaten
I had one piece this morning and will have another after dinner tonight. From then on I'm going to limit myself to one small piece per day and hope DH eats the rest very quickly!
