I am just stressed over having no phone and needing roof repairs and phone repairs all at the same time! The phone company said they would give me a 1/2 hour courtesy call before they came over!!!! Good luck since I have no phone silly people!
I had to remind them that's why I called in the first place! ![]()
Hi everyone, sorry for being late, I was at the dentist. No cavities! I was a little worried since taking up cake decorating. I tend to do a lot of BC licking and I can FEEL all of the sugar on my teeth. OUCH!
Start: 150.8 Last week: 150.4 This week: 150.2 Lost so far: .6
So not much of an accomplishment. Like I said I think I have learned how to maintain weight! At least I am not GAINING anymore. I am going to have to toughen up this week. Here were last weeks goals and results.
[quote="merissa"]
1. Drink 64 ounces water daily: I think I met this 6 out of 7 days
2. Stick to my diet plan 6 out of 7 days: Mostly, but I did cheat and had a few things I shouldnt have
3. Exercise 4 times, 2 of which need to involve weight lifting.: Not met, I did go 3 times, and only 1 session of weight lifting. Good workouts though.
4. Dont eat off of my kids plates!!!: not met, but getting better
5. Loose 1-2 pound by next weigh in: not met
6. STOP CHEATING ON MY GOALS!: Still cheating!

This weeks goals:
1. Drink 64 ounces water daily
2. Stick to my diet plan 7 out of 7 days, but allow myself a piece of my son's 4th birthday cake (batman!) on Sunday.
3. Exercise 4 times, 2 of which include weight lifting
4. No eating from my kids plates unless it is vegetables (That doesnt mean fries or potato chips
)
5. Loose 1-2 pounds by next weigh in
6. Complete the challenges that I post for the group.
That being said, I welcome the opportunity to be your boss...um I mean cheerleader this week!
Thank you Shellie for a job well done last week! You really helped keep everyone motivated and gave everyone a lot of good tips. Let me think of some good challenges for the week and I will post them shortly.
BTW, happy late birthday lisa! How old 32? Isnt it funny that most of us are the same age?
You guys should go to your profile and put your b days, in so we dont forget!
Shellie, sorry to hear about the bad news about your back. But if it is what it takes to help you recover, then maybe that is what you need to do. And I was watching extreme makeover one time and the guy they use for diet and fitness said he believes the 80% of loosing weight is the diet alone.
And I was watching extreme makeover one time and the guy they use for diet and fitness said he believes the 80% of loosing weight is the diet alone.
I know that's probably true, I was just loving the workout because I could eat any old thing I wanted and not gain weight...but I'm sure that will catch up with me sooner or later anyway, so better to eat right AND work out (when I get better, of course). Nights are my hardest time...especially when DH isn't there (he works nights two weeks of the month), I get lonely and convince myself I'm hungry. I really need to get some healthy snacks in the house.

Thanks! I am now officially 34
DH is now 36, and he seems to be having a harder time with this aging thing than I am. I'm thinking it's payback for all those years when he could eat what he wanted without gaining weight, while I have always struggled. Now that's he's not as young as he used to be, he's starting to realize that he can't do that anymore ![]()

*THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGES!*
okay I did some thinking and here are the challenges I put before my dedicated weight loss friends!
1. Find at least one additional way to measure your weight loss besides the scale. This could mean taking measurements, photographs (*eek
but pretty effective and easy if you have a digital camera) Body fat measurement (calipers or some scales have this feature), or even trying on clothes that are just a little too small for reference. I would recommend checking these things on a monthly basis. It is kind of fun, I did it last year. (but my diet was actually working then
)
2. Think of your most difficult goal that you have written for yourself. One that you havent been able to meet, or really struggle with. Dont think of an easy one.....! Okay, now I want you to have this goal in your brain above all other goals this week. This is the goal you are committing yourself to meet this week. WE CAN DO IT!!
COMMIT TO IT FOR AT LEAST ONE WEEK!!
3. When you know you are going to eat something unhealthy, try to upgrade it to something just a little healthier. Such as, you know you have pizza night. So make yourself a big salad and just have one slice of pizza. Or you want to go out for a burger, get a chicken sandwich instead. You want buttered popcorn for a snack, Air pop some or get the 97% free kind instead.
4. Exercising (if you are able): Try to push yourself just a little harder than you have before. Run or walk just a little faster or longer for example. You will feel great when you are done!
okay so I am committed to following my own challenges this week. For number 2 challenge I am planning to commit to the diet portion of my goals. Eliminate the mindless snacking, avoid unhealthy meals!
good luck everyone! I want to see what you say for your number 2 challenge as well, it will help to keep you accountable.
No kidding about the snow. Wow it almost doesn't look like a desert wasteland around here, well now all the tumbleweeds are white. ![]()
I'm gonna be quick because I may not stay connected long.
I weighed in at 221. That's two more lbs this week, which is odd because I fell hard on Tuesday and landed at McDonalds with a quarter pounder in my mouth. Picking myself up and dusting off for yet another round. I'm getting sick so thankfully the last few days the only thing that's tasted good is hot tea.
Off to unpack the blizzard supplies LOL Good job everyone and keep up the good work ![]()
Ok, for challenge #1 I'll get out my jeans that are a size smaller than the ones I'm wearing right now & see how they fit. I know they won't fit by the next weigh-in, but they'll be extra motivation.
Definitely my most difficult goal is the no mindless snacking one. Sooo hard!!!
-Lisa
I wouldnt really expect to see measurable change with challenge #1 in a weeks time. i would probably just reassess on a monthly basis.
Well me reasoning behind this is just to have an additional way to track your progress. The scale isnt always friendly when perhaps you are retaining water or have been gaining muscle and loosing fat. Muscle weighs more than fat and also takes up less room that fat...but the scale doesnt know that!
I wish it did!!
Last year I did body for life. While I didnt feel like I was shedding the pounds, he wanted you to take pics and measurements. I could really tell by my photos that I was getting slimmer, even though I hadnt lost that many pounds. I could feel my clothes getting looser. It was encouraging for me to see some results.
But I agree, that you arent going to see quick results like the scale does!
We finally started getting snow here too. But it's COLD! I think I am getting old, I dont like the snow as much as i used to, but it makes the summers even more enjoyable! You guys have tumbleweeds in Washington? I wouldnt have thought it! I would love to go to Washington some day, never been. I know a few people out there near seattle.
What part of virginia are you from Shellie? I took a vacation in virginia beach a few years ago. LOVED IT!! I had just always wanted to go there and there was so much for our family to do. We had a blast. Then we drove north to ocean city, MD, which was nice too, but I liked Virginia beach better.
Merissa, I'm on the southern border of VA, almost smack in the middle. About 3 hrs from the beach. DH has some family that live at the beach, but we don't associate with them these days... VA Beach is really not my favorite, we always make the trip to Myrtle Beach in SC, but then, that's always where my family went when I was a kid, so I guess I'm sentimental.
I have family that live in Seattle, it's green and gorgeous but you can only see that when there isn't any rain, which is about twice a year.
We got enough snow to make everything white but you can still see the grass blades peeking out, so I'd guess 2-3 inches, I'm lousy at estimations. It was enough that I shoveled it off the drive, (there's a work out)
As far as the challenges go. I have a pair of jeans taht are one size smaller than the ones I wear now, they are the exact same brand and cut. I'm actually between the two sizes
So that's been my other way of measuring my progress.
I have to think on the others. Like I said I crashed and burned big time so I'm kinda back at square one. (If only I could have bottled all that enthusiasm when I had it
) I think I tried to over haul too much at one time....AGAIN ![]()
BUT I haven't given up all hope. ![]()
Hey Rambo and Katie, I'm over here in Port Orchard. The snowfall we've been getting lately has been the most I have seen since my 21st birthday! Yeah, it was practically blizzard conditions. That was back in '92!!!!! I had to take my husband to the ship during this last snowfall Tuesday morning around 5:30!! That was fun! I did fine though. It's those who think they have four wheel drive when they are driving a Geo!!!!!
Anyway, I haven't kept up to date on this topic in a week or so so I am just going to jump in. My challenge to myself is to lose 22 lbs before my husband comes home. I'd like to lose enough by the time I go to San Diego for the cake show in March to have another set of boudoir photos taken. I had some taken six years ago when he was on his last deployment. I had just lost 24 lbs. Now it's six years later and two kids later!!! That's going to be my incentive! The boudoir photos!!! Oh, I also have a size 12 Gap jeans I haven't fit into in just about six years soooooooooooo, I'd like to fit into them by the time the ship comes home!!!!
Amy
Rambo: That is what we are here for, to help pick you back up if you crash and burn! Dont give up! I know you dont want to give up because you all still keep coming back here. So you had a meal at McDonalds? So what? You should allow yourself something occasionally, I think that is what KEEPS you from crashing and burning. You have to be realistic. Just like the body for life book says (and I know you read it
) , if you think you can never have another jelly bean again, than you just wont stick with the lifestyle. Plus didnt you say that you actually lost weight this week anyway!
I have had this motto running through my mind a lot lately. I try to say it when I am feeling weak, when I need some encouragement with my diet or exercise. I heard Bob Greene say it on the Oprah show (I think he's her trainer?)
"what kind of life do you want to have?"
I know what kind of life I want to have and I will have to work to get it.
Good luck today and this weekend if you dont check back in!
Amy:
Glad to have you back! I love your challenge! I have a similar goal to buy something a little slinky for my husband. He is always complaining that my wardrobe doesnt contain anything too tantalizing! I keep saying I will when I loose weight...well and it just hasnt happened! I was hoping to feel good enough about myself by valentines day. So that gives me time, but I have a lot of work to do by then. I have to work harder. Like I said I am getting the hand of MAINTAINING my weight. I need to take it to the next level. Since it is my "cheerleader" week, I feel the extra push to commit to my goals.
I am sure you must miss your husband, Amy. I couldnt even imagine! But there will be something fun about surprising him with your weight loss when he comes home!
I am sending big hugs and extra good vibes to all of you! ![]()
We have accomplished only a little compared to what we will do here. We have eachother to inspire, to confess to, to cheer along with and to cuss those darn fat cells with. That says something. So buck up girls, no down in the mouth critisims today. We are gonna make this one fat burnin, energy explodin, water drinking, eatin right blast of a weekend. WHY OR HOW YOU MIGHT ASK???? Well,
TOGETHER!
What could be better? I am proud and desparately glad to be a member of "THE PUTTING DOWN THE CAKE CLUB!" ![]()

I'm with you, Tuesday!! I am SO thankful for this group. I haven't made much personal progress yet, but having the support here is going to mean the difference between success and failure. Who else can I tell...hey, I blew it, I just had a piece of cake...and expect them to CARE, let alone get me back on the right course??
I conquered the evening snack demon for the FIRST time last night! I was very thirsty for some reason and just kept drinking bottle after bottle of water, so I wasn't even a little hungry or tempted. HOORAY! ![]()

Look at it this way, no one has really gained weight right? Or at least nothing substaintial. That could be progress in itself. Before this group we were all on the path of GAINING right? Now we are at a crossroads, which road do you want to choose?
Congrats Shellie on conquering your snack demon!
Nighttime is the toughest time for me! It's hard to focus on something else besides snacking. It's not that I'm hungry or at least my stomach isn't telling me I am, it's the fact that I want something to do while I watch my evening shows. I don't watch tv during the day. I watch my recorded soaps (just two!
) in the evening. During the day it's all about my kids and of course house hold chores ![]()
Right now I am eating my high-metabolism breakfast to get my day started. In the last two days I have lost 5lbs. in water weight on this high-metabolism kick! This time I'm going to lose as much water weight as I can and THEN work on the Fat Burn!!!!!
Oh oh oh, yesterday I bought a protein shake mix by Kashi Go Lean. They make a chocolate and a vanilla. I bought a vanilla! It takes two scoops shaken with 1 cup of non-fat milk. Boy oh boy was it thick and delicious! After I drank that, I wasn't hungry for a while and had NO desire to snack! I didn't even think about it. It's just 300 calories mixed with the 1 cup of non-fat milk and .5g fat, no trans, no cholesterol, 130mg sodium, 550mg potassium, 33g carbs, 7g fiber, 23g sugars, 21g protein, and all the vitamins and minerals in a multi vitamin. I love it!!!!!! The container was in the health foods section and cost $12.00. I was hesitant to spend that but I wanted a protein shake to substitute for a meal on some days!
Alright, time to get in the shower and get my son ready for preschool!
Have a positive day all!!!!!! ![]()

Welcome Heather! Everyone is welcome here, so please consider yourself a member of one of the most supportive groups I've ever seen...
We have no rules except to be honest and supportive. We do Thursday weigh-in, at which time you can post your weight (if you're comfortable doing that) and your progress toward your goal weight. Also on Thursdays we post weekly goals for ourselves, and report on if we met our previous week's goals. We always try to have no-cheat Wednesdays and extra-support Mondays as we recover from the weekend. One member serves as 'cheerleader' each week...this week Merissa has given us some challenges and is keeping our motivation strong.
Welcome, welcome!! I'm so glad you've joined!
Welcome Heather2780!!!! We welcome all. We started this to boost eachother along the way and help eachother keep the hope and motivation flowin. I personally have lost 100 lbs. and I know the dedication and hard work involved there. So don't ever feel timid to tell us something or just rant and rave, we all do. We are all different sizes, shapes and at different fitness levels here. We are here for everyone and everyone is here for the good of all. So hop on this fat cell destroying train and hold on for those pounds to drop! ![]()
