Okay I just got this little qoute in my inbox and I had to share it because it was too cute to keep to myself.

HOORAY, HOORAY!! I love quick results! I have lost 2 lbs since Thursday! Of course, this is probably a result of my body reacting violently to so much roughage, but I'll take a loss any way I can get it.
I'm not afraid of the scale anymore! icon_lol.gif

I'm taking Ambers advice and trying to think about hunger in a different way...When the hunger pangs hit, I'll look at the clock and think "oh, well, it will be lunchtime in an hour, so no big deal, I can wait"
Now here's hoping I can keep it up through the hectic work week!

Oh, and here's my favorite product of the week...Dannon Light n' Fit Smoothies. It's a great portable breakfast (meaning I can take it to work) and only 60 calories. Kind of expensive, though...
I've also started taking One A Day Weight Smart vitamins (well, really the Walmart version of these). I'll let you guys know if they help any.

Who feels like if you're not self sabotaging than someone else is doing it for you. Just when I think I'm getting back on track dh brings home cookie dough and cheesy bread from papa murphys. Seriously, he asked if he could bring home chocolate chip cookies for the kids. So I figured 2 cookies. I immediately thought I'll just resist but did I have any will power...just one cookie....no like 3 cookies and cookie dough last night and like 5 pieces of cheesy bread for lunch today. If I could just do this alone, it's be so much easier.

I hear you, Casey! As long as my family insists on bringing junk food into the house, I just can't lose anything. I have NO self control. The only way I can do it is going completely cold turkey. One bite of a cookie is enough to completely derail me. It's taken me about 6 months to convince DH that we need to start eating better and BOTH of us need to lose weight and get healthy.

Ditto!! That is so my house too. DH wants a milkshake or cookies or fast food for dinner, goes and gets whatever he & the kids want, and then I'm screwed. I have no self control either and it's just pathetic. DH is the kind of person who can eat just one cookie of piece of cake, but not me. HMPH.

P.S. I am so ready to have a good 3 days before weigh in!!! My weekend was actually pretty good, so I hope I can keep it up.

Okay ladies it's Monday and by the sounds of it we need a little get up and go. I have a little homework assignment. If I'm not mistaken most of us have our hardest time in the evening when sitting on the couch after a long day and snacking away sounds like a great way to relax. SO...I want you to paint your toenails tonight. Then every time you look at your polished piggies you'll be reminded summer is just around the corner (open toed shoes) This will trigger thoughts of shorts and bathing suits and perhaps you'll find that little bit of restraint that seems to slip away when your tired and bored.

And if nothing else you've done something nice for yourself reminding you, you are worth all the love and affection you give so generously to others. icon_biggrin.gif

I love that idea, Amber!! I'm going to take a pass on the toenails, since I still can't bend over that easily, and paint my fingernails. I should do this every night, since they chip so fast!!

Cute idea! Just may have to do that! Hey it is behavior modification. You think of food, you do something else. It is hard to eat while your painting your nails. maybe then if you can resist the urge for 15 minutes, you can resist it for another 15 minutes.

How was your class, Otter? Isn't it wonderful and terrible when you don't have time to eat?

Do we all have pretty fingernails and toenails today?
Thanks for the assignment, Amber! My nails look great and all I ate last night was a 45 calorie cup of yogurt.

I didn't have time to do my nails last night because I got on the treadmill instead. I've been exercising after the kids go to bed a few times a week, when I can't fit it in during the day. That definitely doesn't allow me to eat! By the time I'm done, I drink a bottle of water, maybe watch tv for a little bit, & go to bed. Tonight I have my course 3 class, but I'm always hungry when I get home because I don't have time to eat dinner (I go straight from DS's swmming class to Michaels). I need to plan ahead so I have something healthy to eat when I get home...and I'm not very good about that.

DH & the kids will be making pizza tonight from DD's Joe Corbi's fundraiser - I wonder how many calories are in that?

-Lisa

P.S. Weekends will be a great time to do my nails - especially when DH is home and frying chicken or eating potato chips, etc. icon_rolleyes.gif

Lisa, could you grab a light snack sometime before your class (even if it's in the car on the way). That might help you to not be so hungry when you get home. I've found that I always overeat when I'm super hungry. And of course, I always have to clean my plate, because the food police would come get me if I threw food away... icon_rolleyes.gif
Kudos on the treadmill! I've done a little on my exercise bike this week, but that's still a little rough on my back. The weather has been yucky, but I have a 'walking date' with my sister this afternoon.

I usually take a granola bar with me & eat that before class, but then I come home and eat whatever's available - usually nothing healthy because DH has made chicken fries or gone to Wendys for the kids dinner icon_rolleyes.gif I'm planning on making a salad this afternoon so I'll at least have that when I get home.

Have fun on your "date" today icon_biggrin.gif

Well my tootsies were neglected too. I know... I hate those people who are "do as I say not as I do." But My inlaws were over working on the fence with DH last night and I had to keep the kids and puppy out of the way. When we ran out of daylight I put the munchkins in bed and dropped into my own. I think I'll do them this afternoon and watch one of my tivo'd shows around 2:00 today, that's my weak time of day.

Lisa congrats on the treadmill, that takes true devotion to go at it that late in the day. About your crunched schedule try stashing some Almonds in your car to eat even on the way home. They're high in protein so maybe they'll curb your hunger so at least you won't over eat.

Now I'm going to go pull out the hula hoop. I'm more determined than ever. My mom came over yesterday and at 57 she can still do it. Gonna have to keep practicing.

Okay Shellies right, it's no cheat Wednesday. So everyone fill your water bottles and haul out your bag of tricks to ward off cravings. It's just one day so if things get too tempting write down all the things you "think" you REALLY want today and then give yourself permission to eat one Tommorrow. LOL I usually look at my very long list on Thursday and feel sick.

okay, there is something seriously wrong with me. I need to stop eating!

Yesterday I had to get my BMI done (you know the body mass index) because for my our health insurance it is health by choice. It keeps our costs down if you maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you are overweight or smoke etc. you have to enroll in programs and stuff. So I had to get it done. It was 23. Up to 24 was considered normal. Fortunatley! If it was over 30 you are required to enroll in a program. But still I weighed more than ever! Of course I had my clothes on and it was at the end of the day, but weigh in isnt looking good tomorrow. Afterwards my son had soccer then it was late so we went out to eat. Did I make a healthy choice you ask? Nope.

The other day a friend asked me if I would do this 5k run with her in like 3 weeks! A month ago I probably would have said yes, but I have been rather sedentary for the last month. I went to the gym a couple of times this week (that is the good news) but I have slid way way down on my endurance. I dont know if I can get it together to do this or not. I thought about doing one in August, but 3 weeks might be pushing it. I know I can at least walk it, but I dont really want to do that.

Okay, hope you are all having a super duper no cheat day! I have already cheated. I am really disappointed in my ability to do what I say I am going to do.

I forgot about no cheat Wednesday. Of course I had my Coca Cola, way too much of it. I need to dig my water bottle out of wherever it is, too. I swear I live in the Bermuda Triangle or have a Black Hole in my house.

I had salad for lunch but it was an antipasto, which means cold cuts on it and cheese. I am having a hard time getting myself to stick with the plan, too. I am just going to have to go cold turkey on the Coke, and I will start tomorrow!

Tomorrow night I will tell you how many bottles of Coke I had for the day (lol). Weigh in tomorrow, right? I will get with the program yet.

Drill sargeant would only work if she followed me around and slapped me upside the head. I have this little voice in my head that as soon as you tell it you "can't" do, have, or want anything that is exactly what it will set out to do, have and want until I cave. I wasn't rebelious enough as a teenager I guess, so I have to make up for it now. My inner child is a brat.

I'm super motivated this week. I owe it to DH for agreeing to go on this diet with me and getting me going. He's cheating already, but I've already seen results, so there's no going back. I'll slightly alter the saying "Nothing tastes as good as losing weight feels." I've been strict with myself all week and it's paying off. party.gif
Come on ladies, we can do it! After only a week of staying totally away from all starchy and sweet foods, the cravings are starting to subside. Say it with me....DIE YOU STINKIN' FAT CELLS!!
Maybe as a motivation, you could demand icon_surprised.gif that your family go on the diet with you (within reason for the kids, of course) at least for a week or so.

Nice going Shellie!! You have the best attitude...I need to borrow it icon_lol.gif I did pretty well the past few days, but cheated big time tonight making cookies for DD's science fair tomorrow. Even though we took pictures of the ones we made last week, she wanted to have a few samples there for people to look at and compare. So today we made 2 more batches of cookies, and "had" to taste icon_rolleyes.gif Good thing I don't like one version though, and I'm sending the rest of the good ones to work with DH tomorrow. But I think I ate 4 before I put them away icon_redface.gif

I've been good with my treadmill & made it to the gym to lift today too. I'm crossing my fingers for weigh-in tomorrow!

P.S. Merissa - congrats on your BMI!

Well, at weigh-in this morning I was 159. Down 5 lbs from last week? Guess it must have been having weighed myself after eating and "other factors." Anyway, it was the same scale, so I guess.

On the way in to work I stopped and got a bottle of water instead of Coke and I did have something this morning to eat. I really need to eat before leaving for work, though, instead of after getting here. Maybe I should take my time a little more in the mornings and not be in such a rush. That might help with my overall outlook towards work, too.

Sure wish I could afford a gym membership. That might get me moving some.

Woohoo!! It's a great Thursday for everyone so far! Congrats ladies! thumbs_up.gif
I am down 8 lbs from last week. Since Saturday, I've been on a drastically reduced calorie diet and it seems to be doing its thing. icon_lol.gif
My new goal is to lose a total of 45 lbs. If I can keep going at this rate I may be able to get into a bathing suit this summer after all!
Goals for this week:
-Lose at least 5 lbs
-Walk or ride exercise bike every day
-Allow myself one cheat day and 6 no cheat days
-Stay under 1000 calories every day

I don't think I actually set goals last week, so I can't report on how I did. We've gotten away from reporting so much on our weekly goals, but I think it helps me to be accountable for it.

New goal - lose another 10 pounds by the time I go to my annual Dr. appointment in July.

Weekly goals:

NO SNACKING unless it's a fruit or vegetable
treadmill 6 times
continue with food journal
