Oh Shellie honey (see there's that mother voice again) You poor thing. Sometimes doesn't it feel like the world is just against you. Hang in there, what's that saying? Oh man I'm drawing a blank, the ending is God'll get you thru it. (insert eye roll) I'm not doing very good at this inspirational pep talk am I?
I had a week moment at the gas station and bought some TGIFridays tater skin chips. I got them to the car but managed to not eat them. (Phew that was a close one) But guess what my darling DH is eating right this minute - I told him I was going to tattle. How long before the cravings subside? I hope it's not like quitting smoking or anything that drastic. The true test is tomorrow... Chocolate Spongebob cake due on Friday morning so I'm going to be baking.
Good morning all! Hope you had a good Wednesday.
I would like to report that my supervisor did not disappoint. No lunch, no gift, not even a card. And the only reason he said happy administrative assistant's day was because the other secretary browbeat it out of him.
The second supervisor bought flower baskets for each of us and handed me a $20 for lunch (which I bought allergy pills and tissues with. The allergy pills did not work, by the way. I was miserable all day, but the other secretary decided she needed to go home early so I couldn't leave.
Anyway, at weigh-in this morning I was 160, up one pound from last week.
My goals for this week were to have only one Coke for the entire week, to walk across the bridge from town every morning instead of taking the bus, and to eat breakfast every day.
I have made two of these three goals. I have been having a small glass of Coke at home in the evenings with dinner, but not the three 20-oz bottles that I was previously having. I even turned a Coke down when one of the guys here at work offered to buy me one.
I have also taken my vitamins every day. I feel much better (except for the allergies), and I think the vitamins are a factor in that, along with the warmer weather and the presence of the sun. I had almost forgotten what the sun looked like.
Well, I am done rambling on now. When do I pass on the pom poms? And is there a specific order that they are passed on? I'm sorry, I don't think I did too well of a job with them this week.
Karen
Well, I am up 2 lbs this week. I really don't understand it because I ate extremely little this week. There's no way I went over 1000 calories on any day, not even the day I had the cupcake! I guess some of what I lost last week was fluid and now it's fluctuating. I'm not too bummed, though, because I am noticing a difference in my clothes.
My goals for the week (I'm going to be lazy and just remember them the best I can instead of look them up) were to lose 5 lbs, failed! Also to have 6 no-cheat days. Well, there were some days I ate some very non-healthy food, but when I did I was always certain that I'd had 600 calories or less through the day, so I don't really count that as cheating. I mean, who can live on 600 calories a day? All in all, I'm happy with my week, even though I gained, I am getting used to my new eating habits and it's becoming more natural for me to turn away those 'bad' foods.
So my goals for the week are:
Stick to my 1000 calories per day
Keep drinking water
Resist the hunger pangs that the steroids bring!!!
Otter, you did a great job cheerleading! The most important part of it is to be around when we need a pep talk and you were always here!! Thanks for doing it. You can pass the pom poms to whomever, there's no particular order.
Hey, has anyone seen Merissa this week?? Don't tell me I'm going to have to track her down...
I am down To 175 this morning. I have lost 25 pounds and have 35 more to go to my goal weight!! yeah But i made cream cheese frosting last night and had a few tastes of it. But other than that I did really well yesterday.
Oh no Shellie!! That just plain sucks about your back!
I had a horrible week & am up one pound from last week
I didn't expect anything different though, after eating so much cake....drool.....
I don't think I met any of my goals this week, I didn't even treadmill 6 times, only 5. But I did get to the gym to lift yesterday.
New goals - treadmill 6 times, no more cake!!!!!!! Note to self - do not eat all of the remaining cake today to "get rid of it."

Okay ladies, I need help!! I'm going to be pressed for time after work tonight and I need some ideas for a quick healthy dinner that doesn't include plain baked or grilled chicken. DH is getting tired of so much chicken!! Maybe some sort of salad or pasta? Any ideas? Since we've been dieting I've made a couple of meals that he went nuts for, chicken quesadillas and pasta with garlic spinach, mushrooms and black olives. I need to get better at packing that flavor punch into low cal meals. Any ideas?
Well all that craving fighting and the scale didn't budge. But giving in to the possibility of water retention I'm still hopeful. My goals are stick to the WW, try to spread out my goody points all week which means I'm going to have to WRITE things down. And since my ankles are feeling better I thought I'd try walking, just not so far.
Otter you sound so miserable. Have you tried Claritan. My DH swears by them. What a lovely boss you have. Does this mean your off the hook when Boss's day rolls around?!
Lisa hang in there you've come so far since we've started - which is SO encouraging for the rest of us.
Shellie LOL, I so understand your quest for healthy meals. I'm the same way - Chicken seems to be about it for options. Have you tried anything with fish? If you take a paper grocery bag and soak it in olive oil for 1/2 hour you can put it on your grill and grill fish fillets. Clean up is a breeze, just throw away the paper and it is sooo yummy. But then of course you still have to come up with side dishes. ![]()
Have you tried pasta with an olive oil sauce on it? Or spaghetti with the extra lean meatballs (not too many meatballs)?
Ok, since we are going with newbies for the cheering section I will pass the pom poms to Missyleigh.
Everybody needs to remember that they need to have enough calories to live. If you stop eating it will not help you to lose weight.
My goals for this week:
Continue taking my vitamins every day
Drink my 64 oz of water daily (or more)
Stay away from the excessive Coke
I also need to continue eating breakfast
Everybody needs to remember that they need to have enough calories to live. If you stop eating it will not help you to lose weight.
Okay the first time I read that thru I got - If you stop "living" it will not help you lose weight. LOL which of course, me being a die hard smart A$$ I was going to say - "Well yeah it will but...well...you'd be a nasty corpse."
All right no Merissa?!!! She's been pretty discouraged may have to go get her!!
awww....you guys were going to track me down...how sweet! I have been discouraged. I think mostly because I keep saying I am going to do this and I dont. I dont like being that person. I am a person who usually does what she says she is going to do. I feel like I am not living up to my word. It makes me feel bad to be like that! No, I am not quitting though.
I did weigh in, 151 which is the same as last week. I didnt eat a lot, but I didnt always pick the best choices. I can see why americans are getting fatter these days...we are too busy! Now that my kids are getting older we have things to do in the evening, practice etc. and I see why moms are always driving to mcdonalds! Anyway, i know there are ways around that, I just need to do it.
I dont think I met any of my goals last week, but i did work out 3 times I think.
Goals for this week:
1. drink 64 ounce of water
2. SBD phase 1
3. Get to the gym for some cardio and strengthening 3+ times
4. Dont quit!
Merissa!! Glad to see you, we were starting to worry. Hang in there... it's tough to focus on eating right when you barely have time to run by the store, let alone go home and cook. Just do your best and you'll get there!
You're lucky you posted Katie. I was sitting in the car (I spend A LOT of waiting time there) and it dawned on me we hadn't heard from you either. Thought I was gonna have to get Shellie and gang up on the two of you.
Glad you guys are still with us. I feel like such a hipocrit sometimes after all those weeks of wanting to jump ship. But I feel so good this time. Different than before, so if this isn't the big hike then it's definately coming in the next round or two.
Keep attacking the hill if nothing else you learn what doesn't work.
I weighed myself this morning but am just now remembering to post. 191.2 down 2lbs (i think) from last week. I don't know how. I have been eating pretty good. I even resisted the cake balls that have been in my freezer and the left over whipped cream frosting that is still in my fridge (i so need to get rid of that).
I did walk 5 miles on sat. at a fundraiser I was doing and next sunday I'll be walking 13 miles (yikes!).
I drank all my water on tuesday!
I'm not going to list goals, I never do them. I'm just going to do what I can!
Just stumbled by this and see that it is still Thursday. As of this morning I was at 148. Had my second baby exactly 1 year ago. Isn't that the rule? You can't call it baby fat anymore after the first year. My goal is 10 lbs. for now. That would be where I was when I got pregnant this last time. Then we will re-evaluate. I'm trying to exercise 3-4 times a week. Mostly walks with the double stroller or when I'm lucky, jogging with just the baby. My diet consists of.....try not to eat everything. If you want something bad, just have a bite or two. We'll see how far this system gets me.
It's good to see the "little lost lambs" back.
I am going to skip breakfast this morning because I don't feel like eating at all. I still feel miserable. I took the afternoon off yesterday and today I am going to see if I can get in to the doctor's.
Welcome gladds!
Rambo, I am glad your ankles are feeling better. You take it easy!
Welcome Gladds! I don't know about that one year rule, I called my extra pounds baby weight from my first until I got pg with my second!
Good to have you!
Sorry to hear you're feeling so bad Otter. Allergies are the worst. I'd rather have a cold any day, at least that GOES AWAY!! ![]()
Well last night the steroids hit and I disgusted myself. I had some chips (baked, but still...) a WW popsicle, some sunflower seeds and the shame of the night...a Cadbury Cream Egg. ![]()
But here's something interesting, I weighed this morning and am down 4 lbs from yesterday. I know the scale is a fickle beast, but I have to thank Otter for calling me on the not enough calories thing. Apparently, my body is not prepared to live on 1000 calories EVERY day, since I seem to lose weight when I fall off the wagon.
So I'm changing my calorie goal to 1200 and we'll see how that works out!
Hey Merissa, just a second ago, your cake in your avatar was on the home page in the most popular cakes!!!!
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!! ![]()
Welcome gladds. It's been 2 years since my second baby and I was really hoping I could still call this baby fat =(
Shelly - Do you have a crockpot? I love mine but don't use nearly enough. That way you could throw it all in the night before and leave it in the fridge until you leave for work and then by the time you get home voila! dinners ready. And clean-up is a breeze.
I think even 1500 calories a day is good but 1000 was definitely too low.
I do have a crock pot, but almost never use it. DH likes his food to have that crispy crust you get in the oven.
He's too darn picky... I told him last night that if he didn't like what I cooked, he could come up with some meal ideas or just shut up and eat!!
(yes, I was cranky last night!)
Last night we ended up having grilled chicken cutlets smothered in sauteed spinach, onions and mushrooms on a bed of cous cous...I thought it was delicious!

See this is the problem in my house too. Everyone has their specifications and nobody has any input, until, of course, it's on the table and they want something else. I've stopped making my daily call to DH wondering what he wants for dinner, or checking to see if what I've picked is okay. Now I just "inform" everyone what we're having and shrug if they have complaints. Can't please everyone all the time and I'm the one cooking so...I make me happy. ![]()
I hear ya, Amber!! If they request something specific, I will try to make it, otherwise they get what I serve.
I do make some extras for the kids that I don't eat, like mac&cheese or mashed potatoes. If I didn't, they both might waste away, DS is already skin and bones as it is! ![]()
Hey Merissa, just a second ago, your cake in your avatar was on the home page in the most popular cakes!!!!
I saw it too! It was fun! Actually the one on my avatar is slightly different, but similar anyway.
Okay i did pretty good yesterday and today up until this afternoon. I went the the gym and ran and walked 3.5 miles and I felt really good. I am working on a cake for this weekend and ate some cake scraps...plus some icing and filling to go on it. Now I feel a little blah. But I am going for a walk tomorrow am to make up for it. I HAVE to go because I am meeting a neighbor.
No it's not. Anyone is welcome. We just ask that you be honest and supportive. Feel free to cry, vent or celebrate... the more the merrier.
Great! ![]()
I could REALLY use some support!
I injured my knee several years ago, and have been not-so-gradually gaining weight ever since. I would like to lose 125 lbs. Yep, you heard correctly, 125!
I do eat cake occasionally, but for the most part I eat really healthy foods. My biggest problem is that I eat too much of that food, and I'm not able to be nearly as active as I used to be.
I recently joined a gym, and have been taking yoga classes, working on the elliptical runner, and lifting weights. The gym just opened, and they're still working on a few things, but the pools are supposed to open this summer, so I'll be doing a lot of swimming, too.
I feel like I'm on the right track, but I could definitely use a cheerleader (or 10!), and I think it would help me to have somebody checking in to make sure I'm doing what I'm supposed to!
well, the doctor was off yesterday I learned after I took the day off.
He was having a "wellness meeting."
I should really find an allergy specialist anyway. But I am feeling somewhat better today. ![]()
Shelly, your dinner sounds delicius! Wish I could have spinach. My family refuses to eat vegetables except carrots, and those they cook to mush. Any veggies in this house are strictly for me. Took me years to train DH to eat onions, tomato sauce that wasn't completely pureed, onions, peppers, and the soggy carrots. I do keep frozen veggies in the freezer for quick stir fries.
Welcome Nannaraquel! Glad to have you and would like to offer as much support as we can. Good to hear that you found a gym and that they will be putting in swimming pools so that you can exercise without putting too much stress on your knees. Good luck with the weight loss! ![]()
Way to go, Marissa, to have your cake on the front page! I hope to be there one day but so far have only one cake that I felt comfortable with posting and it isn't anything special, either.
Make sure to diet sensibly, ladies. Remember, you CAN have too few calories, too little fat, and I am not sure quite sure about the low carb thing, you are taking out an important food group entirely.
"Moderation In All Things"
Welcome, nannaraquel! I feel your pain, I've been going through some back problems lately and gaining weight steadily. This group is a BIG help!!
Hope we're all ready for the temptations the weekend may bring. I have a batch of chocolate cupcakes in the freezer, but DD is sleeping over at a friend's house tonight, so I think I'll fill & frost them and send them with her. I don't know why I even made them!!
I was going to get on here and confess how horribly I did yesterday when I started totaling up my points and found I only went over by 4 - which would be bonus points anyway. They weren't the best choices I had a cheeseburger from McDonalds and a Chicken soft taco from Taco Time (we spent our day running cirlces.) But then I realized I had a regular cheese burger (not a 1/4 pounder) and I didn't have any fries or tater tots. WOW I was already to hang my head in shame, but really it could have been a LOT worse. Gonna have to start writing things down.
Welcome Nanaraquel. I too would like to lose about 100lbs so you're not alone. Right now I'd be tickled with 10 though. I used to gage how well I was doing when I could get up the stairs at my gym without huffing for air LOL. Everything you listed off as your work out is exactly what I was doing when I lost 25lbs (fell off the wagon and gained it back) But you are definately on the right track.
Okay now one time real loud - like you mean it.
DIE FAT CELLS DIE!!!!!
Morning All!
Monday and it is time to start all over for the week. I am still slightly improving but I had a terrible weekend. I was sedentary for the most part, did not take my vitamins, and did not eat breakfast.
Did do just a bit of gardening yesterday before I started huffing and puffing from the exertion, and I am still struggling from the walk in this morning.
I did take my vitamins this morning but I cannot get myself to get out of my chair to make any oatmeal for breakfast. By the way, I am also drinking a Coke. It does seem to help my throat. That is the only one today, though. I get weak when I'm not feeling well.
I am still getting gifts for Admin Professionals Day. I opend my drawer and there was a card with a Macy's Gift Card in it from one of the guys. It was a very nice surprise after this weekend.
Enough about me. How is everybody else doing? Looking forward to hearing all of your news!
Karen
