Oh, I forgot to say thank you to Amber for the challenges this week! They really got me through!
YAAAYYYY
Everyone is doing good. I was going to chicken out of weigh in because I didn't want to break the mood but I went ahead anyway and I too have lost 2 pounds. Double YAAAAAAYYYY!!!
I'm no longer on the rock bottom.
I'm going to keep waiting my hunger out since that's all I worked on last week and I'm going to make sure I get up and move around more than usual.
I'm so excited for everyone, now to find a way to bottle it. I'm passing the pom poms on to Otter. It's a good way to stay focused and a good initiation into the group.
Oh and Shellie your enthusiasm kept me going And I was supposed to be the cheerleader.
DIE FAT CELLS DIE!!!!!
okay so I didnt do so well. I was 151 which brings me right back to where I started in December! I started at 151 and at one point got down to 143 and now I am back. Okay I am going to get on this thing once again. I am going to writed detailed goals like I used to. I am effectively starting over.
1. Drink 64 ounces of water daily
2. Exercise 3-5 times a week to include both weight lifting and cardio
3. Start phase 1 of south beach diet. Take a small break on Sunday for my DH birthday, but dont go overboard.
Merissa honey (see that's my mother tone) I think your problem could be too many birthdays.
LOL I'm not certain but it seems every other week your party planning. OR maybe I'm confusing everyone together.
Don't feel too bad. I've been right back at the beginning for a couple weeks now. At least for all accounts you are healthy. I KNOW my BMI would have sent me straight to one of those programs. You can do it - you already have once. You just need to learn what we all do - how to lose weight so it doesn't find you again. ![]()
Thanks for the pep talk amber. You are right I have been doing birthday cakes left and right! And it isnt going to stop, it seems like birthday season is only just starting here for family and friends. The majority are in the spring and summer months! Of course I wont have to eat them all!
I am going to do this again and again and again! I dont ever officially give up. It is just sort of a cycle for me.
No worries, Merissa! I've started over, too, except I had actually gained 20 lbs from when we started. You'll get there, it wasn't too long ago that you were dropping weight faster than any of us on the SBD.
Hang in there...we're gonna kill off those fat cells SOON and FOREVER!!
Rambo, am I just to be a cheering section with the pom poms? What all is required? Sounds like everybody is doing great and it has been a good week for all.
I forgot the goals. I will have to write some down and then post later. I am at work right now so I don't have a whole lot of time for anything.
Just think up a challenge - like eat all your vegies or something we tend to forget. And check in and try to help anyone who sounds like they're feeling discouraged. It's pretty easy and it helps you dig deep to find your own enthusiasm. Well for me at least. If you're not up for it just yet I'll pick someone else. I don't want you to feel it's a "job" Having fun is what makes this group work
I will try it. Not making any promises about how good I will be. Give me a little while to think up a challenge.
Ok this is a good forum. I gained 10lb when I was pregnant and had a miscarriage and I haven't been able to loose the weight. I am a stay at home mom now. When I was pregnant I was in school full time and raising 2 kiddo's then I started working full time+. No I am kind of stagnant.
My goals will be similar to ellantehalima's.
I am going to try and run 2 miles 3 times a week
Eat my veggies and start yogurt
Drink 64+ fluid oz a day.
Good thing we have each other....I'm goona need the support.
Ok off to search for healthy meals....
Welcome Silver! I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage.
You're in the right place for support! Just jump on here whenever you're feeling discouraged and someone's bound to lift you back up! ![]()
My name's Shellie, but I'll answer to any form of that or my screen name. ![]()
Our only 'rules' are to be honest and supportive. We have No Cheat Wednesdays, Weigh In Thursdays and Recovery Mondays if you want to join in those days with us (don't have to if you don't want to). Otter is going to be our cheerleader this week when we need a little extra enthusiasm.
Good to have you!
Okay ladies I've been itching all day to share my news...but life happens and now it's 11:00 (Which means I'm tired and prone to rambling so bare with me).
So today I was comiserating with my sis about you know, back fat and the waving arm that goes on after your done waiving and I got a little bug, thinking about Shellie being competitive with her DH. Since you've had so much motivation from that, I challenged my sister to a friendly weightloss "contest" I guess you could call it. The deal is we have until May 31 (I'm hoping to renew then if all goes well) and who ever reaches the goal, or comes closest has to buy the other a pedicure. If we both make it then we go dutch.
You guys are going to be my secret weapon. I dusted off my WW books and started counting my points again. Uuuuugggghhhh I really didn't want to go back to that BUT it does work so here I am. I am actually excited again. And surprisingly I stuck to my allotted points and didn't even notice.
On a side note I was told that baking cakes and bringing them over to her house for her family was DEFINATELY cheating. ![]()

And before I forget - Welcome Silver
The more the merrier.
DIE FAT CELLS DIE!!
Good morning all!
Hope everybody had a good week. Did everybody weigh in?
Thanks so much for bearing with me. Your challenge for this week is to eat a good, healthy breakfast (thought of this challenge because I struggle with it).
Welcome, Silver! Rambo, it is great that you found a weight loss buddy in your family!
I drank all of my water yesterday and did not have a drop of Coca Cola all day! Hoping to keep it up. I bought a bottle of milk on the way to work this morning and a six pack of water.
My goals for the week are
1) Only one Coke all week (as opposed to 3 20-oz bottles per day)
2) Breakfast every day, even if I eat it after I get to work
3) Walk over the bridge in the morning instead of taking the second bus (unless it is raining/freezing)
Gotta go! Starting my weekly challenge with a bowl of oatmeal!
I love the challenge, Otter! When I've dieted before, I've always noticed a big difference when I eat breakfast (I'm never a breakfast eater.) But it really kick-starts your metabolism.
Amber, you and your sis are headed for big success. I know you always dig deep for your motivation to keep us going when you're our cheerleader, now you will be losing weight not only for yourself, but to keep your sis going as well. I think that's a great move for you!!
Now I have a question for everyone. I know many diet plans advise against drinking coffee. WHY??? I drink black coffee with no sugar, and caffeine is an appetite suppressant. So is my daily coffee hurting my diet? (please say no, please say no....)
I've never heard anything to say that coffee will hurt your diet. Usually a diet will mention a non-caloric beverage and coffee is often listed along with tea. Although everything in moderation.
Now if I drank a lot of coffee it would hurt my diet because I put sugar and creamer in it. That is probably what most diets are warning against. People who use creamer and turn their coffee white or use two or three spoons full of sugar in it.
If you enjoy coffee, I see no reason to stop drinking it.
Could be worse, could be 60 ounces of Coke a day!
I feel ya, Otter. I've had to wean myself off of Diet Dr. Pepper. As I've spent the week trying to explain to DH, even diet sodas 'feed the sugar monster.' I've had much more luck staying away from sweets altogether, now I don't want them anymore. (and my sweet tooth is normally bigger than my head.) He has a little something sweet every day and can't get enough.
Last night he asked if I wanted some ice cream. I said no. He said "WHAT?" Crazy guy. I think he's tired of dieting already.
Me, I can't get enough. I got into a pair of jeans today that I haven't been able to wear for the last couple of months. ![]()

Thanks for the info on the coffee, that's kind of what I was thinking, how can it possibly hurt if you don't add anything? Plus I only have a cup or two a day. We all gotta have our vices ![]()
Otter, you must be related to my DH. He is addicted to Coke, and substitutes it for breakfast & lunch. He whines if there isn't any non-diet soda because "what am I going to eat in the morning."
He takes 3 sodas to work with him and some Ritz Bitz & those are his meals for the day until dinner. He keeps saying he needs to switch to diet soda because he wants to lose weight, but because he doesn't eat breakfast he feels he needs the calories from a regular soda. I don't understand that logic at all, but, he is a man ![]()
I am addicted to Diet Pepsi & refuse to give it up! I have one in the morning (it's my coffee) & one in the afternoon after the kids get home from school, but before I had kids I was much worse. I'd drink a 6 pack a day easily. Now I drink more water than soda, & that's gonna have to do ![]()
-Lisa
Thanks everyone for having me.
I am so glad that I have never really been a soda or coffie drinker. I love coffie with carmel and chocolate with whipped cream on top. Not your average coffie but a liquid desert. Yummy but sooooo not healthy. My vice, now that it is getting warmer, is sweet tea. I have some every day. I am glad that I have 2 small children that drink juice. Ever since they have been drinking it I cut it with 1/2 water. I have been doing this now so I can start to get more water ever day. Now I think Juicy Juice is way too sweet. Funny that I think something is too sweet! LOL.
Ok time for breakfast...Rasin Bran no sugar ![]()
Ok I'll let everyone know how the day goes....
Hi, ladies! Sorry I've been MIA...again...I hae been really busy, and not actually counting my points, but I have been watching my portions and I have lost 2 pounds! I'm down to 162 for a total weight loss of exactly 60 pounds!!!!! YAY me! I had to share my news with y'all!
I am working a little more and I tend to get busier and busier as the weather warms up. I think if I were an animal, I would hibernate during the winter, I hate the winter. Anyway, I think about you guys a lot and hope that everyone is doing well.
I was 193.5 yesterday. I didn't want to come on so I waited. I've been busy and not good. I haven't been watching what I eat or exercising.
Congrats to everyones weight loss, reading all that is really motivating even though I planned on getting back on track it helps.
I love coffee. I only have 1 cup in the morning with flavored creamer...I'm not giving it up. I know Michael Thurman says something about the caffeine in coffee having an affect but I don't remember what.
Welcome Silver always nice to "see" new faces!!!
Goals:
64 oz of water everyday.
Walk my 3.5 miles the days ds is at preschool, work on abs, arms and legs the other days.
WW, I have all the stuff and a couple of cook books I really don't have an excuse not to and I know it works.
Amber, I thought of doing the exact same thing with my sis. Think I will. She's better at losing weight (doesn't have the sweet tooth that I do, lucky b**** =D) so it would be a good challenge for me.
Okay have to share the Good news about caffeine. According to the lady who wrote the Good Mood Diet (good nutrition book, not so much a diet) Any way she says Caffeine is good for you. It ups your brain waves making you more alert and well, Happy. The key is not to have TOO much caffeine because it has the opposite effect. You'll get the jitters, get scatter brained and have trouble sleeping, which will make your brain function slower.
So she says 2 caffinated drinks a day - before 12:00. Of course if your a 12 cup coffee/soda drinker you should scale yourself back slowly, it's like any other drug rehabilitation there are withdrawl symptoms. (Happened to me when I was pregnant - not pretty) I have my mocha at 2:00 because it staves off snacking, curbs my chocolate craving and gives me a second wind and that's at least 7 hours before I'm ready for bed from the time I finish it. What works for you works for you, so don't fix it, if it aint broke!
The lesson is.....As with all food and other aspects of life......Too much of a good thing is Bad......Moderation Moderation Moderation!!!
Otter I love that challenge. Breakfast is one of those things I tend to think about ten seconds before we have to hit the road so I'm saying goodbye to all things wrapped in cellophane. Who am I kidding - at least for breakfast.
Are we Ready for the weekend?? I've got a hot date with my best gal pal for dinner and a pedicure Saturday. Got to have pretty toes for Vegas here soon. Thank heavens she's done the WW thing with me before (she 'sPG now) so she's up for someplace "safe" for dinner.
Hi everyone, welcome newcomers! Okay so better day for me so far. I got to the gym this morning and I ran 2.5 miles, plus a little walking. I felt pretty good about that. Maybe I can do that 5K run a friend is trying to talk me into....
So far today I have done fine on the eating. Okay so I had a couple of chocolate chips, but they were the dark kind, supposedly better because it has less sugar.
Anyway the only thing I know about caffiene is that you should have too much. I learned this from the south beach diet. It can raise your blood sugar (which is bad for weight loss.) But in moderation it is fine. I wouldnt stop drinking it because of that. But if you drink caffiene all day long it might have some effect. I dont like coffee, so i am all set!
We call the Coke a "breakfast Coke." I need to stop that. It is the one thing that I think is keeping my weight from going down some.
Glad to hear that everybody is doing well. How many are in the club?
Don't forget your breakfast every day!

You better belive it is! That is roughly 750 calories a day, which is over 5200 calories a week. There are 3200 calories in a pound (I think) so that is more than 1.5 pounds a week! Just to put it into perspective!
This is all easy for me to say, because "drinks" were easy for me to give up. Diet is an easy substitute for me. Now greasy fries and pizza.....somebody do the number crunching for me! LOL!

Ooooh (the ultimate SAHM phrase coming up here) Didn't Dr. Phil do something on that. LOL The first runner up for ultimate SAHM phrase is ....Didn't I see that on Oprah.
There was some VERY large girl on and he calculated if she gave up her cheeseburgers (which she ate 3x's a week) Just the cheeseburgers in one year she'd lose like 60lbs. Hmmmmmm I may have to calculate Pizza that's a biggy in this house.
Hmmm, I must have calculated wrong. My ticker says I've only lost 59....
Yeah Dr. Phil LOL! Hey if you calculate that pop in one year, that is 78 pounds!
Dr. Phil rocks!!
Tonight I discovered a pretty low cal dinner that felt like an indulgence...chicken quesadillas! Thin sliced chicken simmered in taco seasoning with a sprinkle of cheese, scallions and black olives. You could do tomatoes & lettuce, too, but I was being lazy. I felt like I was cheating!
All right now I know why I don't spend as much time in the galleries. I'm so craving CAKE right now. Time for a big glass of water, a generous swig of Listerine and then I'm off to bed.
By the Way Shellie - I LOVE Chicken quesadillas may have to look into that for a lunch option.
Back cravings - back!! (insert whip and chair) ![]()
Be strong, Rambo! You are stronger than that cake craving.
Everybody in this club is going to have really healthy teeth (lol).
