LOL - the teeth comment cracked me up. I made it last night and thru dinner tonight with my friend without overdoing my points. That was a toughy, like I said she's pregnant and food and cravings were a major topic for conversation but I did it thanks to 1/2 a pack of gum AND the thought I'd get to give a good report back to my support group.

Hope everyone is hanging in there. DIE FAT CELLS DIE!!!

Hi Missyleigh! Welcome! Hitting that weight loss plateau is SOOO frustrating! Most of us here are just coming out of a bit of a slump, so you're just in time! We're getting geared up for bathing suit weather. Good to have you! Our only 'rules' are to be honest and supportive and our 'special' days are recovery Mondays, no cheat Wednesdays, and weigh in Thursdays. You can participate in these as much or as little as you want. Otter is our cheerleader this week, keeping us going. She's challenged all of us to eat a healthy breakfast every day.

Way to resist temptation, Amber! Last night was my 'cheat' meal for the week, and we grilled burgers and hot dogs. I made a bit of a pig of myself, I LOVE grilled hot dogs. But I was so busy getting ready for the cookout that I didn't have time to eat lunch, so hopefully it didn't hurt me too bad. Also, I made a batch of strawberry cupcakes filled with strawberry filling and whipped cream frosting...and I still haven't even tasted one! WOOHOO!!!

DIE FAT CELLS...DIE!!

Welcome Missyleigh. All I can say about plateaus is stick it out. This same time last year I was 20lbs lighter and after 3 weeks of the scale refusing to budge I gave up. AND I gained back 15 of those original 20.

My tips for cakes...get them out of the house as soon as possible. The guys at my DH's work love me and my hobby because if I want to practice I get my photo and send it to work with him. As far as keeping the licks and tastes at bay chug a big glass of water and pop a piece of gum. Mouthwash is good if it's just too tempting. (That's the diet I'm going to market. The Listerine diet. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif )

Shellie today was my cheat day too. I'm pretty certain I've used most of my bonus points. DH took us to the movies. Luckilly I have a tender tooth so I couldn't go crazy on the popcorn but then we had to have Taco time for dinner and Starbucks for dessert. There are only so many temptations a girl can resist in one day. - Ah well tomorrow is a new day.

Good morning, everyone. Welcome Missyleigh! Hope everybody had a good weekend. I already messed up my goal of only one Coke this week. I had a Coke on Friday night and then a small glass on Saturday and Sunday. I will be able to do betterr now that the week has started and I can be at work and think about what I am doing some.

Did a lot of yard work this weekend. We rented a car an went shopping for a few plants to put in the flower beds. Got mostly pansies because that is what Hubby likes.

I did walk across the bridge this morning but the cake I made for my class did not fare well. It was the Wilton Class 2 cake and has two two-inch-tall layers. the top one slid off and then the other slid off of the cake board and came to a halt against the side of the carrier. I was able to fix it but now have crumbs through it. It is presentable, but barely. Good it is just for the family.

Rambo, you just need to do things in moderation and there is nothing wrong with having a treat every now and then. You did resist the cake temptation the other day. If you never had anything good that would sabotage your diet more than anything else.

Well, need to go for now. It is getting late. After having cleaned the fish tank and fixed the cake I don't have much time before work starts.

Have a good day all!

Well, I did give in and have one cupcake yesterday. It was good, and one satisfied me. A few weeks ago, I would have ended up having two or three throughout the day. (like DH did!!) icon_surprised.gif

I still didn't do as well as I would have liked this weekend and this morning I'm feeling all bloated and gross. I'm going to take some green tea pills this week and see if they help me shed some of this unwanted water weight. Of course, considering my cranky mood this weekend, it might be my special week this week...I just never keep track! It's always a fun surprise...NOT!! icon_mad.gif

Morning ladies & welcome newcomers! My weekend was ok, I didn't eat too too much, but still snacked more than I should have. DS wanted ice cream last night & I had a few bites out of the container before I put it away icon_redface.gif I am very worried about this week - today I'm making my final cake for Course 3 tomorrow night. I don't have any time to do anything tomorrow, so I have to bake & cover both cakes today. I'm doing the top layer french vanilla & the bottom layer chocolate, both with chocolate filling. I'm hoping there isn't any extra batter leftover to make cupcakes with. Even if I don't eat any leftovers or scraps today, I'm going to have a giant cake to deal with after class tomorrow night. Some of each layer will go to my parents, who keep asking me when I'm making another cake (they were disapointed last week because I didn't need a cake for class). But DH & DD won't let me give away the rest icon_rolleyes.gif

Shellie, those cupcakes of yours are making me drool!

Hang in there, Lisa. Keep just a little bit of that cake for DD and DH.
My DH does his share of whining for junk food and sweets in the house... I told him he had a choice, he could have junk food and a fat wife or he could have a thin wife and eat healthy food. icon_surprised.gif A little blunt, but it got the point across. icon_wink.gif

My weekend was ok. Friday was the worst day.

Amber- I copied you and made a bet with my sister. Our goal is to see who can lose 10lbs first and whoever doesn't has to buy the other one lunch and a pedicure. So either way I get a lunch and a ped but I want a free one!

Shelly - You said you were consuming 1000 calories a day. What are you eating...or not eating icon_razz.gif I think I would starve on a diet like that but I'd probably win my bet with my sister!

And of course welcome missyleigh. Glad to have you here!!!

Hope you all have an excellent Recovery Monday icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Casey, I eat about the same thing every day and it gets boring...but what the heck, it's working!
For breakfast: Dannon Light n' Fit Smoothie
Lunch: The last few days I have been skipping, but when I do eat I'll have a salad or cottage cheese
Dinner: Baked chicken breast or fish, salad, green veggies
Snack: I'll have a low-cal yogurt or a rice cake. For a special treat, I'll have air popped popcorn and 100 calorie cup of pudding.

Honestly, I haven't been hungry much. I just eat A LOT of veggies. Even though they do have calories, I consider things like cabbage, broccoli and spinach freebies, because I know it's stuff my body needs and will use for energy.
I do think last weeks big loss was setting me up for a letdown, so far this week the scale isn't budging!

Unbelievable... icon_surprised.gificon_eek.gificon_surprised.gif
Today I started taking Green Tea pills with Hoodia. Mostly for the diruetic benefits, since I'm all bloated up like a blimp. I CAN'T believe how well they work!! I had my smoothie for breakfast, skipped lunch because I just wasn't hungry and just ate dinner, just a salad with some sliced chicken in it and I am STUFFED!!
I'm not a big fan of appetite suppressants, but these things are amazing. I don't think I'll take them all the time, but surely it couldn't hurt if I only take them once in a while.

I saw that the old brand of diet pills (Dia-something???) has a supplement out now to boost metabolism and suppress the apetite. Has any one tried these?

I haven't tried them, Monika, but I've been taking the (walmart brand) One a Day Weight Smart and they seem to be helping a little. They have chromium to boost metabolism. The Green Tea pills are unreal. They do have caffeine, which is tricking me into thinking I'm not tired, but at least I'm not so run down like I was last week. I think I'll take them this week, then stay off of them for a few weeks.

I've never tried diet pills myself. My mother used to take appetite suppressants sometimes and they never seemed to work for her. I did hear that Hoodia is good and works and does not have any side effects.

You do need to make sure that you are getting all of the nutrients your body needs. If you stop eating enough to fuel your body you will go into "starvation mode" and your body will hang on to every bit of fat and calorie that it can. That is my problem. I don't eat enough to keep my body from thinking that I am starving.

I am starting COQ10 supplements, Calcium suppplements, and Flaxseed supplements. Also I have eaten breakfast every day. Skipped dinner yesterday, though. I had my final Course 2 class. Starting the Fondant and Gum Paste Course on May 7.

Hope everybody had a good Monday!

I was talking about these

But I also found these and they are decaff:
http://www.chattem.com/products/dexNaturalDecaf.asp

I wonder if they work...The green tea one seems simple enough and is decaf. It is probably similar to what you are talking about, Shelbur. I have gotten more sensative to caffine and try not to add it whenever possible.

Well, I think I've thrown my body into starvation mode this week. I'm up 2 lbs (prolly fluid, though) and the scale isn't budging even though I've eaten very little the last few days.
I usually go through this when I diet, it takes a week or so for my body to get used to the lower caloric intake.
I won't that darn scale get me down!!

I was reading about a detox diet and there was a lot of flaxseed invovled just curious why.

Let's try to see if this works. Here is a website to check out.http://ga.essortment.com/whatisflaxsee_pfy.htm

Flaxseed is a good source of Omega 3 fatty acids. It also contains Omega 6 and 9 essential fatty acids. It also coantains B vitamins, potassium, magnesium, fiber, protein, and zinc.

You can run it thru a coffee grinder/works like a charm. Flaxseed was a big deal in The Good Mood Diet. Boosts your brain power - and a bunch of other stuff. I'll post more after I find my book - If you're all interested? It's really not that hard to add to your diet. I put it in my cereal, or oatmeal and into smoothies or yogurt. It doesn't have a real strong taste so I don't even notice it.

Good morning all! Hope everyone is doing well.

I think I just told the crossing guard that I would do a wedding cake for her daughter at the end of June. She just wants a simple cake with roses for 100 people. Part of me hopes that she will decide against it but part of me is hoping that she will decide to have me do it. I told her to make sure I had time to do a practice cake so that she can see it beforehand.

Other than that, I am doing well this week. I have had a breakfast every day and am taking my vitamins. That and the weather and I am doing well.

Oh, I had a terrible night last night. I had popcorn, a cupcake AND a mini-snickers.
But today is a new day and I'm feeling much better. My clothes are hanging better on me and I've lost that puffy, bloated look I had started to get. It's a beautiful day outside and I'm feeling great!
How's everyone else getting through the week? Are we ready for a FAT CELL BLASTING NO CHEAT WEDNESDAY???

Well the PMS cravings have hit full force. I kept having visions of stuffing chocolate and salted treats into my mouth all night last night. I ate 4 of those little easter eggs and hid in my room ALL night long. Then DH informs me he's watching one of our shows so I emerge to join him and he's got a brand new bag of chips on the couch. I sat on the floor and played tug of war with the dog - and my will power. I did it though I resisted. I kept hearing my oldest boy telling me he knew I was going to beat Aunt Wendy. (My boys are VERY competive) Now I just have to make it thru 'til tomorrow when I get my bonus points renewed and I can have a small treat.

Otter good luck with your wedding cake. I have had a couple people ask and though it thrills me it also scares the H-E-double hockey sticks out of me too.

Say it loud for No cheat Wednesday

Glad to hear that you were able to resist temptation. It is not easy when your DH won't be supportive. But they all want a slender wife, right?

Shelly, we all have to realize that today is a brand new day and we can start over. Unfortunately, it is also Administrative Professionals Day and I am not sure if we are going out to lunch or not. My allergies are killing me, too. And I can't find an allergy pill to save my life.

I got the grilled shrimp skewer salad. (hope I'm not posting too late for dinner!) It was really good, even though the dressing looked nasty, it tasted good. It filled me up, too. I ate about 12 and six hours later I'm not hungry.

I got terrible news at my checkup today. The dr. thinks I've ruptured that darn disc again. So here we go again...I'm now on another round of steroids. Ugh. I am stronger than them!!! I WILL NOT gain weight this time!!!
