Kim that was some great info! A lot of what's on that list I'm already doing! I was really interested in #6 & #7... it is talking about a twitch.. I was talking to my DH last night after we got finished working out. My whole body has these little electric thingies going all through it after I finish my work outs. It feels pretty cool too! Like I'm getting a massage!
From reading #6 & #7 they are called twitches? That's what I get out of it. Does anyone have the same thing happen to them & could that be what twitches are? I'm goofy but I think it's the same thing. SOOO... I'm loosing fat!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm working out right, that's great to know!!! Ok... I'm excited sorry!! ![]()

Ohhh I have some great news to share!! I've been praying for a work out buddy for a few weeks now. WELL last night I went to a support group weight loss meeting & met a great lady who goes to the same gym I go to!!! We started working out together this morning!!! God is Good!! We have a lot in common too! Now I'm not going to have such a hard time getting out of bed any more! (I had to share that with ya'll)
Oh, I lost 2 lbs this week ![]()
I have a cake order too... my first since my surgery.. It's for next week. A flip flop cake!
Thank goodness it's simple!!
Ya'll have a wonderful week~
Turtle- From what I understand, the "twitches" is in reference to your muscle fibers; you have two types of muscle fibers, slow-twitch and fast-twitch. High reps in weight training target your slow-tiched muscle fibers. That is, lifting a light to moderate weight for a lot of reps; 12-20. These fibers are predominantely utilized during continuous activities, sustained for long periods of time. Because of their endurance-oriented nature, slow-twitch fibers have only limited ability to increase in size. Thus, by targeting these fibers, you'll attain a lean, toned physique with little effect on muscle mass. These are also best at fat burning.
If you want to increase the size of a muscle, the use of moderate reps, with "heavy" weights for a few times, 6-10, stimulate your fast-twitch muscle fibers. These fibers are activated during intense, short-term activities. They are strength oriented and thefore expand in size in order to accommodate the demands of heavy lifting.
180 for me this week!
1 lb down, 9 lbs to go till I reach my mini goal!!!!!
I have gotten rid of all the "junk" kind of food in my house this week and have stocked up on good food and I am ready to go!!!
I watched "The Biggest Looser" 2 hour special with the two families competing against each other lastnight on TV, I want that to be me!!! They looked sooo different in their before and after shots that it made me want to go for a run at 10pm lastnight! I would have gone but my daughter woke up and by the time I got her back to sleep it was just too late!! That and my husband didn't want me to go by myself in the middle of the night!!!
I am stepping up my exercise this week, I'm off to the park now for a walk / run!
So how is everyone else going???
Well damn! I thought the "twitches" were all that tingley stuff I've been getting! LOL! Thanks for clearing that up for me!
socake~ YEAH FOR YOU!!! I know exactly how you feel!! I made my first goal a few weeks ago! I was soooo happy! I think I'm still running off all that good motivation!! Congrads!!!
Hey guys,
I haven't been able to get on CC since Wednesday, AAAAHHH!!! I think I had lost a little during the week, but on Wednesday we did a lot of traveling and that meant McD's and I also had a stromboli for dinner. So, my weight on Thursday was 213. That's OK. I haven't eaten at McD's in so long - YUCK!!!!!! I don't know how I ever liked that stuff!!! No more for me!! DD's bday party is tonight. We're having a cook-out tonight. But I got lots of fruit and veggies so I don't go overboard. I made a pillow cake with a tiara on it. What a pain in the arse!!!! The tiara was gorgeous, but the pillow really gave me a hard time - but I didn't "taste" the icing or scraps once!!! Ya'll have a good weekend!!
Kitti
So proud of you guys!!!
Isn't it funny when you haven't had something in awhile how it doesn't take as good as you remembered it tasting?!! That's a good thing!
Just sharing a couple of things from a couple of emails I have recieved. ![]()

Write Away!
Don't panic over what I'm about to tell you: You have some writing homework. Now, I'm not sending you back to fifth grade with this one, but I do want you to get comfortable putting your thoughts and emotions on paper. You may be skeptical about this, but journaling on a regular basis will play a key role in helping you meet your weight loss goals.
Let me explain. Your journal is a place for you to write everything down, to see it in front of you, and to work through your problems and toward your goals. Without a journal, it's too easy to avoid your hang-ups and stay in neutral.
Writing about your goals will also help you think them through: Do you want to be healthy, confident, physically and mentally strong? Are there clothes you want to wear that you can't now? Do you want to see and feel yourself in your ultimate body, living a new life, playing with your kids, going on a date, getting compliments from friends or coworkers? Whatever your ultimate goals, physical and emotional, write them down in as much detail as you can, and refer back to them often. They will help you stay motivated on your journey.
If you have easy access to your computer every day, take advantage of the online Fitness Diary commit for one week to recording an entry a day in your diary. It's easy do it when you log in to get your daily workout, or use it to organize your thoughts before you hop on the Boards. And it's a great place to record what's going on with you where food is concerned, too!
JILLIAN'S TIP OF THE DAY
Plain Paper?
For those times that you aren't in front of you computer, choose anything from a simple lined notebook or a leather-bound blank diary. Besides writing down how you feel, you can include photos of yourself to chart your progress, pictures of clothes you'd like to wear, new recipes you'd like to try, and more. The sky's the limit! The most important thing is to find a journal that suits you.

The Risks of Rapid Weight Loss
http://www.caloriesperhour.com/
Hello Tracy,
Should you be congratulating yourself for losing weight quickly, or
checking with your doctor?
Rapid weight loss can be harmful to your health, and must be
monitored closely by a doctor. When losing weight, it's safer to
lose at a rate of no more than 1-2 pounds a week. By doing so, you
will be more likely to lose the weight you want to lose, without
side effects, and keep it off.
Quick weight loss can increase your risk of gallstones, mineral and
electrolyte imbalances, arrhythmias, changes in blood pressure, and
low blood sugar -- all of which can be life threatening.
As I discussed in the newsletter Hitting a Plateau (available on
the Newsletter page at caloriesperhour.com), rapid weight loss
usually leads to rapid weight gain. This is mostly because it
increases the breakdown of lean tissue, resulting in a lower
metabolic rate.
And starving yourself leads to stuffing yourself. It causes the
release of neurotransmitters that override your feelings of satiety
and lead you to eat beyond the satisfaction of hunger.
When dieting, make sure that after the initial 2-3 weeks you aren't
losing more than 1-2 pounds a week. If you are, increase your
caloric intake slightly until your weight loss slows. Be sure you
are eating healthy, nutritious foods, and should any health
abnormalities occur, be sure to report them to your doctor.
Healthy regards,
Megan Porter, RD

Where is everyone? I haven't been on much either. I miss ya'll! Hope everyone is doing great!! I lost 2 lbs~
I'm still here. I didn't post a weight last week because I didn't get an accurate one, or one I liked.
Well okay on Tues, my normal weigh in night I had eaten right before I weighed and got a really high weight. I figured it was more from the food than actually gaining and had planned to weigh the next day. Well when I did weigh Wed, it was later than my usually time, and seemed awefully low. I almost found a middle point but decided to wait for this week instead.
As of 9pm tonight I am currently at 161.2.
Hi all
I have returned from my vacation and had a wonderful time. I was no where near a computer for the whole time so couldn't check in or post. I will post my weight on Thursday, but don't hold out much hope for a loss or even to stay the same.
Since my heel has been feeling great I am going to start to work out now. I hope to start on the down hill (loosing).
My scale is on the fritz!!! This morning it said I was 262 - I KNOW I didn't gain almost 50 lbs in a week!!! I'll get a new one this weekend and post it again next Thursday to stay with my weigh-in day. If only it said 162 - HO HUM!!
Hi all! I haven't posted for a couple of weeks because I couldn't bear to write down the same weight again and again. This morning I am down a pound to 148. It is sure going slow, but at least it is going.
Cancelled our YMCA membership and joined a new gym this week. Costs half as much and I have an exercise buddy for sure for the summer and hopefully beyond. Probably can't do both the gym and Jazzercise, which makes me kind of sad, but we'll see.....
I am at 196, slowly going, but at least its going in the right direction. My husband and I have started Yoga and Pilates classes, weight lifting, and we swim nearly every day. I am very very hopeful that I will keep the downward trend, and be 15 lbs lighter by the time school starts!
Yeah for everyone's losses!
I started to eat better in the morning again...I've been eating granola, straberries and vanilla yogurt mixed together at least 5 days a week (usually when I am at work). I have really noticed a difference in my thighs and my stomach area.
Hey everyone!
I hope you all are doing well!
I just wanted to note that I've been having a few health problems and I haven't been on the computer much.
Two weeks ago I had a doctor visit and now this fri. I have an ultrasound, but I"M NOT PREGNANT!!!! They gave me a pregnancy test at the last visit. It was negative, lol! I just knew it was anyway, but the doc. wanted to go ahead & clear that up!
I've been having some pain & messed up menstrual cycles......really really messed up.
So.......hopefully I'll get back on the ball soon!
And, hopefully everything will be ok!
I hope this wasn't "TMI" or anything. I just wanted to let everyone know...............especially you, SOCAKE!!!!!!!
I AM SOOOOO glad I found this post! I have been agonizing about how to lose weight while making and loving cake!
woops, double post! OK, I am around 240, have to go upstairs and weigh and would like to be 140, I am 5' 5" and have HUGE boobs, fat tummy, big butt and huge thighs. I have equal opportunity fat! I have been really struggling with giving up the cakes, decorating and all because I love cake, but I can't afford to really eat any more. How do you make the cakes and not eat it too? I can't see myself ever tiring of it! I will vow to start exercising more, sis we start with 1/4 mile or 1/2 mile? Thank you for the support you are offering! I will go get a specific wieght for a starting point. My real goal is to be able to buy clothes in the misses section instead of the big girl section. BTW I am 34. THANKS ALL!
Hi everyone. I just wanted to share my excitement. No I have not lost any weight, however those of you who remember I have had problems with a heel spur and have not been able to work out for over a month or more. Since my heel has been feeling much better I thought I would try it and I just finished working out for the second day. My heel will only allow a 20 min work out, but that is better than the nothing that I have been able to do. I know it's not alot, but I am very happy that I can and sure do feel better when I work out even if it is for a short time. ![]()
Can I join in too? I way the same I did after having dd#2 2 yrs ago and never lost the weight from dd#1.
I weigh 270 and am 5 ft even. I would like to get back to the 145 I was when I met my dh 8 yr ago. I am giving up all sugar, vowing to eat more fresh veggies, and getting rid of all the crappy junk food that tastes great. I am also putting the family on a diet too, my dh is a diabetic and we're worried about dd#1 becoming one also. I will need lots of support due to no will power.
180 again for me this week! it is only a matter of time until the results of all my efforts will show!! I think if it was not that time of the month then i would have lost a bit!!!
I have a song running through my head all the time now, I don't even know who sings it but it goes........."Get up, get up, get busy do it. Come on and move your body" so i have been!!, I have been walking, playing football, skipping and playing with the kids using then as weights!
I want to reach my mini goal of loosing 10lbs!! the only was to reach it is to keep trying!!!
Hey Ya'll~
Sounds like everyone is doing great on their weight loss journies!! Sorry I haven't been on for awhile. I've been painting my livingroom. Oh my gosh I'm crazy!!! It turned into a bigger chore then I thought it would be! Tomorrow I will be done & I'm SOOO happy!! I need to put one more coat on!! Yeah!! Then I have to clean up all the boo-boo's I made! I have white crown molding & I kinda accidently brushed some paint on in places!
Nothing soap & water can't get off!
Anyway... I wanted to post my weight. I've lost 2 lbs. I'm at 188!!! I'm staying on the track of 2 lbs a week. Under everyone's advice that is a good weight loss every week. So I don't think I'm loosing too fast. I have started eating a protein bar every day. Dr advised me to so he knows I'm getting enough protein. If any of you have cravings for chocolate this would be a good way to eat it (I haven't had any cravings so far, thank God), most of the protein bars are choc covered sooooo that would be a good way to get chocolate & get your protein & vitamins too! Just some FYI~
I have 2 more cake orders!!! I did good on the flip flop cake! I didn't put the icing or the batter to my mouth at all!! Never tasted any of it!! My goodness was I surprised with myself! I've changed my whole way of thinking & that's what's helping me! It's not worth it!! I think I'll be ok with cake decorating again!! Yeah!!
Sorry I've babbled!! I'll sign off now~ Everyone take care & remember... You are special!!! Exercise is your friend!!!!! And YOU CAN DO IT!!!
I'm at 253.5 this morning.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been more active and I'm always up busy busy busy!!!!! I've found things I've neglected....I mean, do you ever dust the top of your doors? Well, they do get dust on them!!! LOL!!!
Hope everyone has a good weigh in day!!!
Just one pound down this week. We are finally getting the work done on a wall that was damaged by a roof leak. Once that's out of the way and one more bday party until August, No more excuses for me!!!
