YAY! Good for you!

I KNOW that it's so easy to gain weightt, but why is it so hard to lose the weight. I mean, you'd think it should be just as easy to lose as it is to gain, right?!?!?! Maybe we should try to change the laws of physics or something.

We are going to the zoo on saturday...I'm already worried about what I will eat. Anyone got any ideas on how to keep the fat away?!?!?!?!

You could take a tub of salad! You love tomato's so you could take some tomato soup as well.

Take some fruit for snacks for the kids as well, they always want snacks and if you have to buy them junk food you might be tempted to get some for yourself!

Have a great week!

great mmdd! I think that the hardest thing about losing weight is to get your mind there. But later when you start loosing and feeling so different it gives you more energy to keep it up.

i have to weigh myself tommorrow in the gym because my kids put my brandnew bathroomscale in the bath icon_cry.gif so i am without the scale again. i don't think i will be buying another one soon.
so i will report tommorrow icon_smile.gif

mmdd - along with fruit, take some baby carrots, celery sticks, raw cauliflower and broccoli - great for dipping and gives you that crunch if you need it. If you feel like a treat, get some of those low-cal snacks by, I think, Nabisco. I think their only supposed to have 100 cal per bag - I believe the flavors are like Oreo's, Ritz crackers, choc. chip cookie. Those should cover any sweet tooth that comes up.

Weight gain is sooo easy because it requires us to do nothing but sit there and feed our faces.

It takes more to lose it because not only do we have to break old habits but we have to get up off our bottoms and do something about it. But just remember, when you lose the weight you can be proud to say you did the work to get the job done.

It is hard work, but that just makes it more worth it in the end.

For your trip to the zoo, be sure to take several bottles of water with you, so you can sip on those to help with the hunger. Also why not pack a healthy family picnic so that you don't have to worry about concession stand food?

Please everyone remember, that when you take way things from your diet that are unhealthy replace them with healthy things. So you aren't eating potatoe chips any more, well how about some raw veggies instead. No more sweets? How about replacing them with fruits. There is such a variety out there that you don't have to eat the same ole same ole all the time.

Plus remember, dieting does not mean you can't have things ever again, it just means you need to evaluate what you are eating and how much of it. With some things you may want to eat less often, and find a better for you version.

Do you love ice cream? Just because you are dieting doesn't mean you can't ever have it. Sometimes totally cutting something that you love out will cause you to cave in and overeat it. So instead of the high calorie fattening ice cream, get one of the versions 1/2 versions or a good for you froozen yogurt. And instead of eating it every night, why not make it your weekend treat or ever other week? Just remember when you have it to cut back on the other things you eat that day.

My grandmother is a diabetic and she's told me when she wants something sweet she will make some sugarfree jello. It gives her something sweet, with out the sugar. I've done the 100 calorie packs, they work good for a snack. I also like the sugar free puddings, they taste just as good as the others do to me.

Thanks for the heads up on Sparkpeople. I was skimming through this thread last night and saw the link and gave it a click. What a great website! Lately none of my old weight loss 'tricks' seem to work anymore, so I'm ready for a fresh approach. I'll let you know how I do.

I'm going through E-mails and here is another I found about things that are good for ya. icon_smile.gif

Recent research suggests that you might be more successful at
weight loss if you eat more fresh citrus and other fruits and
vegetables high in vitamin C. It's not that vitamin C is the new
weight loss wonder drug, but the discovery that consuming an
inadequate amount of the vitamin can hinder weight loss.

According to researchers from Arizona State University, individuals
consuming sufficient amounts of vitamin C oxidize (burn) 30% more
fat during moderate exercise than those who consume insufficient
amounts. In addition, too little vitamin C in the bloodstream has
been shown to correlate with increased body fat and waist
measurements.

The US RDA (recommended daily allowance) of vitamin C for adults 19
years and older is 90 mg for males and 75 mg for females. Since our
bodies can't manufacture vitamin C, we must obtain it through our diet.

Roughly 40% of men and 38% of women 19 and older don't get enough.
But the good news is that it's easy to get adequate vitamin C from
an assortment of fruits and vegetables:

1 medium tomato, 23 mg
1/2 grapefruit, 44 mg
1/2 cup cooked broccoli, 58 mg
1 medium orange, 70 mg
1 medium kiwifruit, 70 mg
1 cup of strawberries, 82 mg
1/2 cup sweet red peppers, 141 mg

So keep an eye out next time you head down the produce aisle.
Getting enough vitamin C is another example of how eating a
healthy, well-balanced diet will help to keep you slim.

Healthy regards,
Megan Porter, RD

I was just reading in a health magazine that it takes us 21 times for us do something before it becomes a habit...so it may take us a little to get that ingrained behavior into us, but it's not impossible.

Hey everyone, I lost 4 lbs this week. Sorry i haven't kept up but my kids were gone for a couple of days and made myself not turn on the computer. it was actually really great.

I am really loving the weight watchers online. I love coming upstairs and filling out my points sheet. It makes me feel like i'm doing a good job.

Also, i have been taking organic, unpasteurized applecider vinegar everyday 3 times. This has made a HUGE difference. I have done this before in the fall and lost 9 lbs in 2 weeks. I have taken it on and off since then, but i have been very consistent. My mom has lost 45 lbs and swears this has made a big difference. (Of course she has been eating healthy and excercising also) Let me know if anyone wants any info. It sort of detox's your body, and takes that terrible bloating feeling away. Makes my skin more moist and clear up, it also is suppose to have many health benefits!!

Do you take, like, tablets? Or you drink the vinegar? How much?

I drink it, but i mix it with water. My mom mixes it with 8 oz of water. Like 1-2 teaspoons. But i cant handle the taste. I like to get it over with. I actually put it in a shot glass!! icon_smile.gif Like 1 teaspoon, and add about 1-2 teaspoons of water and then down it and drink LOTS of water afterward. You have to dillute it and drink lots of water because the vinegar in your mouth can eventually take the enamel off your teeth!!!!

You HAVE to buy the ORGANIC UNPASTEURIZED!!!
It also have to have "the Mother" ??dont ask!! I buy Braggs brand. www.bragg.com i think is the website. You can buy it at most health food stores. I buy mine at wild oats. HTH

i have heard about this applecider vinegar. i believe you can buy it in a dry form from the pharmacy as well. i just couldn't drink it. yuk!
but now you gave me idea to go and check the pharmacy tommorrow.

Actuallly the diet section is so big that you don't know what to buy and what to leave there. latest thing i noticed was something like an instant coffee and it would make you loose weight. icon_cool.gif hmmm...i just sdn't really believe in this stuff and who knows how unhealthy these thinkgs actualy are.

my report is 65 ,5 kilos. (145) thumbs_up.gif only another 10 to go and i have to start keeping it stable. for some reason i believe the last 10 will be the hardest to go.

did uphill threadmill for 1/2 hour. i was soaking wet and tired. unbelivable i just have realised how unfit person i really am. legs are so tired now. powerplate going well too. i am very happy with my new lifestyle. one more thin to stop is smoking icon_redface.gif ...maybe in september after i have lost my kilos thet would be my new goal.

but thanks for the luck i need it icon_smile.gif good luck to you too.

as for smoking thread i just feel i am not ready. but i will work with myself and i know i can do it. It is really hard here because everybody smokes. we just had a trip to the states with my husband and oh, it looked like a perfect place to stop smoking because it wasn't allowed anywhere. and i liked it.

Nice to see you, Liis! And, good luck when you're ready to try to quit smoking! My fil smoked since he was 13, he just put them down and never picked them back up in 2004. He'll be 65 this year! I don't know how he did it, but I'm glad he did. Now..............if only we could do that with weight loss...ya know, not pick up the chocolate....not go through the drive thru.........oh I wish!!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Congrads Snicker on your 4 lbs loss!! Fantastic!! Keep it up!!

Liis, I think your pic looks great! I'm supposed to be loosing down to 135 (dr's say that should be my weight) but I think that's too skinny for me (not that I've ever been that small so I really don't know LOL). I'm shooting for 150 for now. If I look like you do if I get to 145 I will be sooo happy! You look great! Good luck on quitting smoking! I quit in 1998!! I'm so glad I did. I put the cigs down & never had a craving since. Now I can't stand the smell & I hate it when children smell like smoke. That is so nasty. Much luck to you girl!!

I'm near Syracuse NY. Syracuse University is about 35min from my house and then we have the Turning Stone Casino 10 min east of me. Albany is about a 3hr drive East of me. Ive been to Albany Once. It's funny cause when you say your from NY everybody thinks of NYC. NOooo that's NOT me I'm from total cow country.... never even seen the statue of liberty icon_cry.gif

I love it here. BUT.... when I retire I want to move to Virginia....OOHHH it's soo beautiful there. My dad lives down in Chilhowie VA and it's super close to Bristol Speedway.

bodaisy~ Upstate NY is so beautiful! I never saw so much beautiful country before!! We go to Lake George or Crystal Lake everytime we go to NY. Crystal Lake you can see the bottom of the Lake! Amazing! We have red dirt lakes in LA so we don't have pretty waters here. It's nice up there. I enjoy watching the NY Giants in training! They do that in Albany. It's fun to watch! You know my hubby has never seen the Statue of Liberty either. Upper & Lower NY are two different states. VA is another great place to live. We lived there 3 years when DH was in the AF. It actually has 4 seasons! That's what I loved about it!! My DH folks want to move out to NC. They love it there. I wish they would, they'd be a lot closer to us!

mmdd~ Enjoy the zoo today! Don't get a sunburn!

212 this week.

Ok. My weight is 201 this week, which is a 2 lb increase, which would probably be discouraging if I was only tracking my weight. BUT, since I am also tracking my body fat percentage, I know that I have lost half a pound of fat, and gained 2+ in lean body mass. I am also supposed to start this week, I always gain like 5 lbs the week before. I have been keeping track of my food intake; but, since I started the gym this week, I have noticed that it is harder to stay on the low calorie side. Last week I did good staying below 1400; this week, since I am working out nearly every day, it is very hard for me to stay low like that. But, I did burn a little fat, and did gain muscle, and plus all the cravings, I think I did pretty good this week. My goals for this week are to add additional days of working out, and to come up with a strength training schedule for specific muscle groups.

We did! It was a blast! I had the digital camera and dh had the video camera.

DH is now working seven 12's, so I'm glad we went on this trip now.

Our 5 yo wanted to go go go!!! He didn't want to stand still very long to look at anything, he wanted to go see everything RIGHT NOW!! LOL! But, we finally got him to slow down. And, our 4 yo had to have his map with him AT ALL TIMES!

It was a lot of fun!

They have a different "display" every 2 months or so and they were having a "down under" display this month, and we got to see kangaroos & koala bears, etc. They didn't have the kangaroos behind anything except a rope that our boys could easily step over!
