This was for my son's first birthday. It was the first time I make a "person" figurine. It's not Perfect but I am really proud. I wish I would have taken more pictures!

I am a newbie, and this cake was THEE cake that actually gave me confidence as a decorator. It was my 6th cake and I was/still am so incredibly proud of myself for accomplishing it. I squealed a few times after it was finished.

I only had 200 viewsicon_sad.gif but....I am new and I understand that it likely isn't THAT good! I will always be proud knowing that this cake is the one that made me fall in love with 3D.

every cake I've put on here has gone on the home page immediatley but I had trouble adding my favorite cake whenit was finally added, two weeks later, it ended up way in the back and barely got noticed. Then another cake similar was added a couple of days before mine and got all kinds of hits and favs, so frustrating.

I have loved looking at these cakes. Some I remember already looking at. When I 'save' a cake picture, it is usually because I like the idea and I may want to try it at a later time.

So many fantastic cakes on this thread! It's funny which cakes get saved and which don't...sometimes you can totally predict which ones will end up on the home page and other times I'm blown away by the ones that get overlooked. This is the first cake I made after finishing the Wilton classes. Wait...no that's a lie. I made my husband a birthday cake but it was just thrown together with left over decorations. icon_rolleyes.gif I know this wasn't the most imaginative cake ever but keep in mind that I arrived for my sister's wedding 4 days early and was informed at that time that the design had completely changed. It went from a three-tier square cake with dummy layers covered with gumpaste roses between each tier to a round cake on a three-tier stand with round posies on top of each tier...oh, and an extra tier for the kitchen since round cakes have less servings. I tell you, if it hadn't been my sister....

I thought that this came out really well. I was very happy with the witch. I entered this cake in a contest here on CC and no one even commented, good or otherwise.

maudie, i love your cake! I just commented icon_wink.gif

I hope I can say this nicely...I think you could do your cakes more justice by a better photo and/or a better backdrop. I like to put something up if I have a mess and make sure I have a good camera. I know everyone can't afford a really great camera, but I see graininess in your photo...which could also be the case of the very bright light off to the left of the camera. Its better to light from the front of the cake. this would also help to see more detail of the cake! Cuz you do really nice work icon_biggrin.gif HTH!

Here is a cake I did for my manager's 40th birthday. It was my first time making a mold and making sugar bottles. Overall I'm happy with the way the bottles turned out. Of course I would have liked for the ganache to be smooth for a cleaner look, but everyone who saw it in person was impressed icon_smile.gif.

I did a 1st anniversary for a Chic Fil A. they wanted a large cow, big enough for 300. I downsized a little on the cow, so I could fit it in my fridge and added additional chic fil a "food" cakes

This is a cake I made for my son's movie themed birthday party. I spent a LOT of time on this and really like the way it came out especially the popcorn and candy.

Thank you for your comment and suggestions. Since this photo was taken, I have purchased a good camera ( still getting the hang of it though) But you can definatly tell which cakes were taken with my old camera phone. I do agree that I need to get a better back drop. Thanks again for the advice icon_smile.gif

I picked up one of these, cut it to fit between the stove top and range hood, and spray painted it black (they do come in black, but not all stores carry them in all colors, where I bought mine they only had the green):

When I want to take a pic, I set it up on the stove top with the 'wings' open (if you don't have a flat top you'll need to get another piece of cardboard as a base), turn on the light on the range hood, set up my cake and click away. when I'm done it folds up for storage. I plan to get another one and paint it white so that darker cakes will show up better.

This "beer" bottle cake of mine got MUCH needed kudos in my area but not much with C.C. It was very time consuming and intricate.

I spent a lot of time figuring out supports and such for this cake.... http://cakecentral.com/gallery/2177861 I had to travel a few hours by car with it. It was only my second 3' or taller cake.

Here are some of my latest cake, I was surprise the Godfather cake did not get any comments, but I was more surprise of the amount of people that have not even seem the movie "The Godfather" or did not remember the scene for the idea for this cake.
