I posted this one yesterday 1PM (Saturday), only 11 hits. I really love doing this one.

I LOVE this thread. I missed a lot of amazing cakes. I'm glad I came here and was able to see them.
I'm posting one that I uploaded back in March when there were many server problems. I should have waited to post it, but I was anxious. Anyway, I made it for the Queen City cake and sugar art show. It won first place in the beginner novelty category. I am proud of it and wish more people had viewed it. TFL

Here is one I did recently for a friend. It is just a simple cake, but I really like how it turned out.

I think cakes are being 'passed' over when they are posted lately because, for some reason, the front page is 'stuck' for long periods of time. They aren't rotating like usual at times, so many of the cakes are not being seen.
I posted this cake Saturday night. It was my first fondant cake and I was inspired by kells_bells baptism cake. I copied it almost exactly...can't improve on perfection. I was thrilled with how it turned out...and so was my customer! She said the cake was "wonderfully moist" and her son thought the filling tasted like "warm ice cream"...which according to her is a very good thing!
This is another cake I though will get many comments, it was a big hit at the party.

Thanks for looking!
I'm so proud of these, I made these both for my boys birthday party, and it took me forever so I was kinda bummed when they weren't noticed this morning
I know they are nothing compared to the other beauties here, but I was still proud...

I love this thread. I'm always amazed at how many wonderful cakes I miss even though I feel like on here all the time!
Here's one of my more recent cakes I was really proud of. It only got a few comments, but I appreciate that. There are so many cakes uploaded each day, it's hard for them all to get noticed. That's what makes this thread so great.
Thanks in advance for looking. I would love for some real feedback too about what could be improved...seriously...I can take it. I have a thick skin and I really want to get better.

I love this thread it was such a great idea who ever thought of it. Thank you!!!
I love watching others cakes and I'm so impressed by how many beautiful cakes I missed. And I just want to say how many hard working ladies out there with great talents.

Here is mine.

I really liked it, and doing it was a bit of a challenge, but it just didn't seem to get much notice.
I have two. Both are very simple disigns. Maybe they're just to plain. The one listed below is a simple white GP orchid cake. The one that is attached is a GP poppy which I deleted because it barely got noticed.

I was so sad this gum paste figure I did got no notice at all. I had done one of my father just a couple days earlier and it has like 300 hits and several favorites. My mom.... nada. And she was soooo much more difficult!
Anyway, she's my 2nd gum paste figure. I'm prepping for my mother's 60th Birthday Cake. It will be a swimming pool cake and my mom will be "diving" into the pool.
Can't wait to put the rest of the cake together but in the meantime, here's my mom.

thanks, and keep the unnoticed cakes comming - there are some amazing cakes that just get passed by here!
Ok so I am not trying to say my stuff is great or anyting, becuase I KNOW there are WAAAAY talented people on here. But do you ever look at the home page and under the most popular added today, do you ever stop and think to yourself why is that one popular?
Many times I have seen waaaaaaaay better cakes that only have like 1 or two favorites.
Does this cross anyones mind also?
It has crossed my mind also. A lot of times I think when people put a cake as favorite it's not always because it's the best cake they have ever seen but rather something about it really strikes them, maybe they like the idea, the colors or it's just plain funny. But who knows, it's really unpredictable how a cake is going to be received.
I fav. because I like a aspect of it. I might like the decorations on one cake but the color of another.. everybodies favs are different
I love this thread. I have just seen so many amazing cakes that I missed before! I often look at the last loaded photos, but sometimes forget, or just don't have time. Thanks everyone for posting here. I too put cakes into my favorites because I like a certain element of the cake and might want to refer back to it at sometime. But I also save a cake just because I think it is amazing.
Here is a link to my cake that I am most proud of. It was my 1st sculpted and 1st large cake covered with fondant. I put my heart and sole into this cake. I almost cried when I had to take it apart and throw it away! It was my entry in the Mid-Atlantic Cake Show and because it was scuplted I had to use a real cake instead of a dummy.

I know when I stick something in my favorites it is usually on a search for ideas. I have a project in mind and am looking for ways to handle certain things. When I find an approach that I like, I save it so I can find it later. I've also saved ones that I just LOVE and WISH I could make or had a reason to make.
Here's a pair I sculpted for my boys teachers. I'll finish the cake on the 2nd but I am really proud of how they turned out. I've been doing a lot of prepping lately and not a lot of baking but I have 2 cakes due in early June right after I get back from a week away so I'm trying to get as much done ahead as I can.

I posted my cake this morning and it never got to the front view home page
I was hoping to get little more comments. I was so happy about my cake and excited to do it because this is the fist time I've used Sugarshack's recipe. I'm going to use this recipe all the time and recomend to enyone who is having trouble smoothing their cakes. It works like a sharm

Here's one that I did last week. I watched like a hawk and never saw it on the home page. I really enjoyed making it and went through heck to get it done and delivered in one piece as I delivered it assembled...that's right...a 5-tier cake delivered assembled. I must be CRAZY!
