Cupcake Cake For Ivy's First B-Day
I made this in late June for my granddaughter's first birthday. It was humid and about 110 degrees and the party was outside in a park. I'd had major surgery 10 days before and the cake held up better than I did. I thought a cupcake cake would be a LOT less mess in this setting and was I right! I was thrilled that my bc didn't melt at all. Cupcake cakes are a hit in my book! The cake was WASC and I also made single cupcakes in dk chocolate and spice. Cream cheese bc on all.

Basket Weave Hearts Wedding Cake
This is the wedding cake I did for the Saturday after Thanksgiving. UGH!! Talk about stress. It was for the granddaughter of a good friend. I was pleased with the outcome, but it leaned slightly to the left. I use the stress free support system and had the legs screwed down as short as they'd go. Guess I need to check their length. WASC cakes done all in bc. As much as I love doing basket weave, doing this much in a sitting was a bit much. Weddings are too stressful. Give me an anniversary any day. The bride was thrilled with her cake and I was soo pleased. She was the sweetest bride I could imagine. Made it all worth while. And I thought the cakes really did a lot to dress up the gymnasium/auditorium (which was as cold as a meat locker). LOL

Morgan's B-Day Pumpkin
This is the cupcake cake I just made for my granddaughter's 8the b-day party at school today. It's white cake tinted purple, with bc icing and mmf eyes, leaves and tongue. To finish it off I sprinkled it with edible rainbow glitter. It was fun to make and a huge hit at school! I was totally inspired by a wonderful cake posted here by tripletmom. Thanks Mom!!

50Th Wedding Anniversary
This is for my sil's parents 50th anniversary celebration this evening. It's all white w creme bouquet flavored bc. Very delicious icing. I did the round with three torted and filled layers (3" total) to stay in proportion with the sheet cake underneath. The sheet cakes are also torted and filled, to give more servings per cake. I'll be serving 1"x3" on the sheets and 1"x2" on the round, since it's taller. I used hershey's kisses for the base of the roses and that worked GREAT!

Oval Bridal Shower Cake With Rose Framed Script.
This was of the palest pink and champagne white.My friend didn't want much green for leaves so I used the white for the leaves. It's white cake with buttercream icing. I used my new Americolors and you really do only have to use a smidgen at a time. I think I'm going to like these colors!

I made this to try out a new cake an icing on friends at my former work place. They're my more than willing guinea pigs. It's french vanilla with dream whip icing. The icing was a little grainy when I made it but hope it's not when it's cut. The icing was also a little soft for the drop flowers but they came out okay. One of those things only the decorator knows. I took this after it was tented in plastic, to explain the shine.

Bundles Of Joy Baby Shower Cake
This is a simple cake I made for a baby shower at my daughter's school. I made a lot for them last year and wanted them each to be totally different since all the same people would be seeing it. That was a challenge. But I love using my oval pan sometimes instead of the usual rectantular, and a two- tone cake looks good for a baby shower. I made the blocks with candy melts. The cake is just classic white with buttercream icing.

Blue Basket Weave With Daisies
This was for my father in law's 88th birthday. The weave is one of my very favorite looks so I am thrilled to be learning it finally. I was intimidated by it for a long time, silly as that may sound. I didn't complete the second Wilton class so missed the lesson on doing this technique. I love it but it's hard on my hands. Maybe my icing is too stiff. I'll get it right one day.

Laundry Basket Baby Shower Cake
I made this for a baby shower where my daughter teaches 1st grade. The credit for the pattern goes to Amylou who posted her cake pic a couple weeks ago. She posted and the next day I got a plate with the theme which was a clothesline. It was a big hit, thanks Amylou. Anyway since my daughter was putting all the gifts she'd bought into a wicker laundry basket I made a big oval cake and did it in a basket weave, my first attempt, to match her basket. I'm pleased with the result.

Hearts And Roses
This is the faux fondant method using Crusted Buttercream II recipe from this site.The roses are real. I made this in Oct 04 for my niece. It's white cake with buttercream filling. I used the faux fondant technique and Crusted Buttercream II icing. (icing recipe and tecnique found on this site) I got a lot of comments from people about the icing not being as sweet sweet as they have on many wedding cakes and I have to agree. I love the icing method because it gives the smoothe elegant look many brides want and the great taste of a nice buttercream icing.

Barbie Doll Cake
I made this in october for my grandaughter's 3rd b-day. It was my first appempt at a doll cake and I was pleased with the final result. I used a real Barbie rather than the doll pic that came with the pan. I used a 10" round 3" high for the base. I made a hole thru the dress cake (and filled it with icing) to accommodate the doll and had to backfill with icing to form a midriff because the doll was pretty tall. But it was pretty easy and Maddy's reaction to it made it worth the work.

Faux Fondant - Dressed For Fall
This was my first wedding cake. My friend wanted the smoothe fondant look and the taste of yummy buttercream. This was perfect for her. I used the faux fondant technique with the Crusted Buttercream II recipe. The cake itself was 14, 10 and 6 inch classic white rounds with buttercream filling. The flowers are silk.

Sample Wedding Cake Using Faux Fondant
This is my first attempt with the faux fondant technique I used the Crusted Buttercream II recipe posted at this site. I was so pleased, as were the 2 brides I am making cakes for in October. I sure do reccomend this technique! I won't be messing around with rolled fondant anymore.
