Pirate Treasure Chest
I hate that I didn't get a pic before the candles. This was a 9"x12" cut into thirds. Two layers on the bottom, one layer for the lid. All edible on the chest. My friend drew the map (this was for her son). Sand is brown sugar. The coins and jewelry are non edible. Skull was from a Wilton choc mold and I just used some tools to make it a bit more fierce and added the crossbones. Lots of fun to make! TFL!

Tail, wings and propeller are fondant over foam core. Client had to transport it on a two hour drive so I didn't want risk any sugar breakage and put fondant over the foam core. Everything else is sugar. Plane was about 12" x 3 1/2". Thanks for looking!

Scroll Cake
My bride brought me a picture of a cake with this style of thick fondant scrolls that she wanted replicated in an eggplant color for her cake. It's not really "my" style but it's not really "my wedding cake" either. It redeemed itself at the reception surround by the decor in complimentary colors. MMF scrolls. Fresh flowers provided by florist. 14", 12", 9" hex (3 layers), 6" round.

Pink Black And White Bridal Shower
Colors and damask pattern to match shower invite. Used my Cricut Cake for the center of the damask and cutters for the outer part (it was too LATE to continue my learning curve with the Cricut). MMF. Purse is cake. Shoes are fondant. Bottom tier is styrofoam (they didn't need that much cake and I wanted this look), 8" two layers, 5" one layer, 6" square two layers. Dress matches bride's dress. I'm really happy with how this cake turned out. Box lid is fondant covered foam core. The gumpaste lid I had made in advance turned out to be too small so I had to improvise quickly. It's bulkier than the gumpaste and I don't like that but I needed it. Ring and flower are gumpaste.

3D Dragon Cake
Sadly, this dragon JUST missed the deadline for the contest....sigh. Done for my best friend's son's 16th. He wanted a scary dragon. All edible. Head is RKT. Everything else is cake with MMF. Gumpaste links. Dragon is ripping off his collar ready to strike. Took pics before adding the birthday banner because I thought the banner might take away from it but it actually looked good after I added it. Both parents are artists and thoroughly appreciated the detail. The dad actually airbrushed the backside so I had to "try" to replicate what he did on the front side. Easily my best work to date!!! They DID NOT want to cut this cake. So much so we forgot to sing happy birthday as the bday boy cut it...hahahaha! But, alas, the dragon was slain and we had cake! 24"long x 22" wide. Stand is 3' long by 2 1'2 wide for scale reference.

Dr. Seuss Birthday Cake
100% edible. All made from sugar and edible (except the fish bowl and smash plate cake). Green eggs and ham (baby's smash cake) and goldfish are on a rotating topper. Hat is four 4" layers stacked then 6", 9", 12". MMF. Baby also had Christening today so I put a small little cross in his hand. This cake took a LOT of time and it didn't help that I got sick early on in the week so ended up having to rush everything. I'm happy with how it turned out and they LOVED it!

Lady Bug Baby Cake And Cupcakes
For a lady bug themed baby shower. All fondant and gumpaste pieces. Lady bugs are from a candy mold. Sugar baby design idea from CCer: jennysgoodys. Cupcake wrapper template from CCer: dynee. This is my first cupcake order and I'm quite certain my last. Much more work than a cake with all of those individual pieces...whew! Red velvet cake w/MMF, choc and van cupcakes. I built the stand from foam board. Toothpicks underneath the bow removed after transport. Thanks for looking!

70Th Birthday Cake
I was asked to recreate a previous cake I made in more masculine colors since it was for a man. This is what I came up with. Gumpaste flowers and foliage (twisted sticks are real sticks - it's all bound together with floral tape and inserted in a bubble tea straw). MMF top and ribbons with BC sides. I took the paper towel bits out of the bows for the photo (dumb) so they sank for the pic. I should've just left 'em in...you guys would've understood (haha!). This cake was for a private party and ordered by their chef so he adjusted the sticks to be upright once he got to their house and removed the paper towels. I had to rush to finish this cake (was a rush order) so I just didn't have the time to correct some minor defects (ugh...that scroll work!). I almost didn't post this pic but - hey, it could inspire someone so here it is! Thanks for looking ya'll!

Crouching Spider Hidden Shame
First - thank gawd this was my own son's cake! Second - Spidey-dog was practice on carving a 3D character for a paid 3D Mad Hatter the next weekend. Third - all of the five year olds LOVED it. Fourth - Having to slice into his prominently displayed rear end made for some great stifled laughs from the adults. And lastly - Spidey's reduction to what amounts to a mishapen dog was a great lesson for me so the 3D Mad Hatter was a raging success! I will include the picture of my son posing (my carving guide) so you have an idea of what was supposed to be. CAUSE OF FAILURE: Carved too much from the base so cake lost footing and began leaning forward. I should have built the arms out instead of trying to carve into the cake to create them. Second cause of failure: used cardboard cakeboard to separate layers inside. Cardboard absorbed moisture and gave way. Should have used foam core (as I usually do). You can see the dowels that were holding up that cardboard jutting out of his shoulder blades. A spidey gargoyle!

3D Mad Hatter Cake
Done for an adult who is a HUGE Alice in Wonderland fan. Table is cake (two 9"x13" side by side). Mad Hatter body is cake, arms, head and hat are RKT. Everything 100% edible. Finished Mad Hatter stood about 2 1/2 feet high so on the table the whole cake was over 3" high. Time on watch set at birthday girl's actual birth date. Piping gel tea and oreo cookies for the dirt. This pic is taken before transporting and setting up so you can see the foam core underneath him. That was later covered with a purple strip of fondant once he reached his destination and corn syrup was added as spilled liquid for the bottle.
