Ford Woody Baby Shower
Baby's nursery has a Ford Woody theme. All edible. MMF over chocolate cake with cheesecake/amaretto mousse. Finished cake was 19" long by 6 1/2" wide. Painted with confectioners glaze for shine. Sand is brown sugar. Water is piping gel. When I thought of this design I checked CC (as I always do) to see if it had been done already. Sure enough, SweetTcakes has an adorable cake with this theme and it inspired me to be less literal and to "scale" with my car which I think suites this design much better. Thanks SweetTcakes!

Volcano Cake
I'll admit to being not overly thrilled with making a volcano but once I got started it was actually a lot of fun! 10", 9", *8, 7", 6" (mostly carved out to make a hole for the styrofoam cup). Found at literally 20 minutes before leaving to put dry ice in styrofoam NOT tin foil so I didn't have a chance to airbrush the cup black. The kids LOVED it as did the owner of the venue. 100% inspired by CCers Melchas and mamakinloch's volcano cakes. MMF, candy rocks, piping gel waterfall.

Military Gift Box
Requested by Army Mom for her son who is being deployed. Family having a big party in his honor to celebrate his birthday in May (he'll be deployed), announce that his wife is pregnant (they just found out) and it's his going away party. Here is the cake I came up with to include all three events. Mom mentioned she was having t-shirts made that had a yellow bow and read Army Mom/Dad/Wife, respectively, so I put baby in the onesie and added the bow. MMF. Gumpaste accessories. 3 layer 10" square cake. God bless our troops! Box design and instructions from Sharon Zambito's Boxes and Bows DVD.

Lamborghini Cake
Groom's Lamborghini Cake. This cake took me a looonnngg time to do! That's what happens when you are obsessed with details. Finished cake was 23" long x 11" wide. Not really happy with how my tires turned out but it was the second set and late in the night (or rather early into the next morning) so they had to do.

Hogs & Kisses
I wish I knew which decorator to credit with this original cake design. I saw it in the currently happening CC Valentines Cake contest pics and loved it so I made it for my son's teachers. As soon as I know who the original artist is I will surely credit him/her here. MMF over chocolate and pink velvet cakes. Chocolate on the board. I used the Wiltons sports ball pans for the head and body then built up the cheeks and nose with cake caulk (cake scraps and icing mixed together). Airbrushed with superpearl. Bow painted with water for shine. Thanks for looking and THANK YOU to whoever did this first. It's sooo cute!

50Th Anniversary Vignette
I can honestly say that I NEVER wanted this cake to end. I enjoyed it THAT much! MMF, all gumpaste & fondant accessories except for the frame which is white choc candy melts and edible image. Bottom cake is a 9" x 13" three layers (about one inch each). Credit to Sadsmile's Mon Amour cake as inspiration for the ink bottle, love note and feather. Color on ink bottle is "II NERO" which is black in Italian and a nod to their heritage. Mother is really religious so the cross is there for her. And pink roses are her favorite flower (she is wearing one in the book pic). Thanks for looking!!

Turtle Baby Shower
Done for a "Sweet Little Treat" themed baby shower (complete with a full candy bar). Baby's nursery will be a turtle theme with this turtle on the bedding and walls. Colors and polka dots are to match baby shower invitations. MMF and all gumpaste and fondant pieces except the ribbon with dots in the space in between the turtle and second tier. I screwed up the PVC measurement (first time working with it) and couldn't redo it since once I affixed the cake onto the PVC it wouldn't budge. Wracked my brain and finally just glued on the ribbon. Turtle head and feet are RKT. Turtle is 8", 7", 6", tiers 2 and 3 are both 6", top tier is 5".

Magnolia Wedding Cake
Done for a friend who was having a very small reception at her home for her brother. She wanted a small cake to serve 15 and to freeze the top tier. 7" single layer, 6", 4". Sugar magnolia flower as taught to me by John Jennison. Initially I was going to put roses and carnations on top but once completed this cake HAD to have the magnolia. The side placement was far more stunning than on top so I had to cover the hole I had made and placed them on the side. I really like the look of this cake.

Bundle Of Joy
8",7",6",5" cakes make up this baby boy shower cake. Chocolate duck, gumpaste everything else. Super pearl painted on the bow. Silver tag is from a stamp and reads "baby". MMF. I had initially carved in the shapes of arms and legs but it really looked look creepy so I smoothed them out. I love the little baby feet though. My 5 year old said, "Mama, it looks like a volcano with little baby feet sticking out." Great! I just so happen to have a volcano cake coming up....

The Beast!
Okay, now I know my limit. This was a 7 tiered beast for 250 people. From top to bottom: 5" carved round, 7" round, 9" petal (single layer), 10" round carved, 12" round, 15" petal, 16" round carved. I use a stiffened buttercream dam and suspected it was a bit soft but used it anyway and the freeway route I took with allllll of its maaannnny continuous bumps - at every concrete joint - took its toll and I got bulging from the filling. I HATE bulging!!!! Anyway....the cake still turned out pretty and thank god cake civilians would never notice the bulging. The bride and groom had no complaints about this - I just would rather things perfect, of course. Sugar flowers & MMF with airbrushed super pearl

Holiday Cake
Done last minute for a friend's holiday gathering. I had to bring a dessert and had just happened to have already had this cake assembled as a practice cake to practice piping scroll but the RI was too runny hence the snow drips and quick change up in design (forgot I had initially made it to pour on cookies...yadda yadda). 2 layer WASC w/ MMF. Snow is dessicated coconut (I don't know what that means but its at my cake decorating store).

Quinceanera Cake
Five tiers, two layers each. 5", 7", 10", 12" carved, 14". MMF, gumpaste stars, bow and initial. Colors and stars to match the birthday girl's dress. The birthday girl watched a Cake Boss marathon and knew exactly what elements she wanted in her design so...there they all are. I had to keep reminding myself it wasn't a wedding cake but was for a 15 year old girl (I was so not excited about this design with the bow and stars) so it SHOULD look like it's for a fifteen year old and NOT a wedding cake for an adult...ahhh the internal struggle of the cake decorator. My biggest cake to date she was happy and called it the the cake of her dreams.

Tinkerbell Cake
10" contoured lemon cake (carved), two layers over a 3" high, 15" single petal layer of strawberry cake both with vanilla filling. Gumpaste figures of Tinkerbell (ugh...replicating such a iconic figure is hard!) and the birthday girl in the costume she wore for her party. Gumpaste bees and butterflies. MMF leaves, ribbon and bow over vanilla BC. Choc fondant over cake board.

Bratz Cake
Done for a family member who loves these dolls. I really wanted to practice carving this shape since I want to use it in some upcoming wedding cakes so who better than family to practice on?!?! Chocolate cake, 10" round, two layers, MMF. Gumpaste Bratz figure painted with food color/vodka. Gumpaste and fondant jewlery. All edible.

The Fedora Hat
60th Birthday cake for "Papa". 100% edible. Hatbox is about 70% gumpaste 30% fondant (to allow for working time). Hat is cake with additional cake underneath to make up needed servings. Hat box lifts up over cake for cutting and serving. His daughter just waned a life sized Fedora hat cake because her dad wears them all the time. I, of course, figured it should come in a hat box like a real hat, right? Right! I bought the leopard hat from Target to use as a model (it's being returned today...not my style. ha!). Was going to cover the top rim of the box with a black strip of fondant to match the bottom and cover the tops of the stripes but after adding the stripes the fit was too tight to add it. Choc cake w/ coffee buttercream (he loves choc and coffee), MMF.

Mastercraft X45 Cake
The client's boat was totaled in a fire so I recreated it for his son's birthday. The birthday board loves wake boarding and Ace of Cakes so he FLIPPED over this cake. I got the "WHOA! I didn't know WHAT to expect but I didn't expect THIS!" from dad. hee hee hee it was great. Chocolate cake and MMF. Finished boat was about 19" x 7". All edible except for the wakeboard bar (floral wire covered in fondant).

Sunflower Cake
Done for a fall/sunflower themed backyard wedding. Chocolate and WASC cakes under chocolate MMF (recipe here on CC - it's a great one!). Sugar sunflowers. All cakes on 1/2" foam core. 12" round (2 layers), 10" round (1 layer), 9" hex (1 layer) 6" round (3 layers), 4" hex (3 layers - I carved this tier and butchered it! NOT happy with it). All sugar flowers w/ satin ribbon.

Chinese Lantern
Done for the first birthday of a little girl adopted from Korea. Sugar flower hibiscus. This variety is the Korean national flower. "Metal" topper is floral wire and fondant (not enough time for gumpaste to dry -BIG BUMMER! I absolutely prefer ALL edible!). Two 6", 2 layers, doweled and stacked (strawberry and lemon) . I made the table from simple precut wood pieces found at Michael's (a plaque and glued on napkin holders for the legs - cost me about $9 to make). Glued down 1" of foam core as the lantern "base" with 1/2" foam core as my bottom cake plate. I wanted to screw it to secure it but didn't have any washers. Dowel running through all to the wood - perfectly sturdy for this size of cake). Covered in MMF. Branches and flowers are MMF. Dry dusted with antique bronze luster dust. Thanks for lookin'!

Fall Theme Wedding Cake
6"/10"/14". Chocolate MMF (recipe here in CC - it's a great one!) over chocolate cake. Branches and leaves are fondant dusted with edible powder and old gold luster dust. Topper provided by bride (at her request, I dusted the hair dark to match her and the groom). Inspired by a Jennifer Dontz fall cake.

Curious George
A bigger version of a previous George cake I did. The client loved it when she saw the picture nine months ago and wanted it ever since. I tweaked a few things. The big yellow hat on top of this one was cake and was the birthday boy's smash cake. Bananas, Man and Hundley are gumpaste. George is a store bought topper. 6"/8"/12" chocolate and yellow cakes.

50Th Birthday Cake
The birthday girl shares her birthday with Christmas but is tired of that so she celebrated her 50th birthday in September with a "Christmas In September" party complete with a tree! Party theme was black and white with all of the guests wearing black or white and the birthday girl wearing red. All sugar pieces and all edible. 6"/8"/12". Purse is cake. White satin and chocolate cakes.

Mickey Mouse Smash Cake
What the top half of a two tiered cake becomes when the cake comes at the end of an overwhelming cake week and yours truly makes all kinds of bad decisions with the bottom half ie: oh, it's still a tad warm but what's the worse that could happen if I put it together and ice it now??? How about it totally imploded from all of the condensation when the fondant went on?!? How about that! And no time to rebake....yes, exhaustion and cake making do not good bed fellows make. Luckily it was for a friend so they got a store cake and this became the smash cake. : (
