Bridal Shower
This cake was REALLY tall, probably 6"! It was 1 devil's food torted w/buttercream, and 1 white cake torted w/BC. This is one of my favorite borders, although some people might think it's old-fashioned. The wedding color is "clover", apparently a big hit this season. This was for my friend who's hosting a shower for her niece.

Volunteer Celebration Cake
This is for the Volunteer Celebration luncheon of a charity I'm involved with. Unfortunately, their logo is purple and red (my daughter says it's like the Red Hat Society, LOL!). I started running out of frosting, the cake isn't quite rectangular, and I realized too late that the cake wasn't centered on the board. Luckily, I'm not charging them for it!!!!!!!!!

Lay Speaker Commissioning
This was to celebrate the commissioning of 50 lay speakers in the United Methodist Church (including me!). It was a 15" hexagon scratch white cake with buttercream to feed 80 people. I had a great idea for each side of the hexagon, but that didn't work out, but I had already put on the teal arches. What to do, what to do??!!! I decided to write the name of each class in the course in an arch. Plan B, but no one knew but me. ;)

Melting Snowman Cookie
I finally got around to trying these! Thanks to Stacey for the great tutorial on her blog. I was short on time, so I used a storebought shortbread cookie -- YUUUUCK!!! I now remember why I bake from scratch ;) To save more time, I used melted white chocolate discs for the snow and buttercream for the accents, instead of royal icing. The cookies were smaller than expected, so the head's a mini marshmallow.

Teenage Boy's Birthday
A cake for a teenage boy in the local group foster home. I have no idea what his interests are, so I just did a design. Notice the slight cracks -- I will NEVER use Wilton cardboards again, just foam core! This one had 3 boards under it, and it still caved under the weight. Ugh! Scratch milk chocolate cake with buttercream.

Winter Birthday
This is for my father-in-law. I realize that the igloo looks more like a hand grenade!!! This was my first time modeling a figure, thanks to the great penguin tutorial by Liis. Also, thanks to Spills for the cake idea! Scratch white cake with buttercream, ice shards and penguin are modeling chocolate.

Birthday Disaster
I was attempting to copy this gorgeous cake http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1374237 in buttercream. Needless to say, I didn't succeed!!!! In my defense, I got literally dozens of interruptions while I was working on it, so my buttercream had crusted too much by the time I got a chance to try to smooth it. That was only one of the things that went wrong, though. I don't charge for my cakes so, luckily, my friend can't complain!

Choo Choo Train Cookie
A friend asked me to make 3 dozen cookies to match the napkins for a baby shower. I did my best, but they sure don't hold a candle to other cookies here on CC. Not to mention that my shoulder and wrist are killing me!!! She'd better like them after all this work . . . I'm just sayin'. ;)
