Habs Hat
This is the cake I made for my Husband's birthday. I did the Montreal Canadians (Habs) symbol freehand but if I had the knowledge then I would've tried the frozen buttercream transfer! The chocolate icing was a bit too thick to spread nicely, but the cake turned out good! I made this one in January, 2008.

Spiderman Cupcake Cake
My 4 year old said, "We have to make Daddy a Spiderman cupcake cake for his birthday because Daddy is a boy and boys love Spiderman!" And so I did! I'm very pleased, I did it freehand. The chocolate icing base was a bit too thick to spread easily though. This would make a great little boys birthday cake! I made this one in January, 2008.

Lilly's Christening Cake
While I had a great mental image of this cake, it really didn't turn out nice. We drove 4 hours over the highway with the icing, then I got the cake from my sister's and by the time I was able to start decorating (in a sweltering hotel room in January at 1am) the icing was pretty much liquid. It is supposed to have basket weave sides and an edible sparkle cross. LOL! I figured it is fair to show my failures as well as my success, we're not all perfect right? I made this one in January 2008.

Princess Cupcake Cake
This is my favorite cake to date! I made my first cupcake-cake for Julia's fourth birthday. She wanted a jungle princess party and I was afraid that the princess alone wouldn't feed everybody. I used a real Barbie in the cake and that was part of her gift. I made this one in October, 2007.

Swimming Party Cake
I made this cake for Julia's third birthday when she had a swimming party. I got the original idea from the Kraft website, but used icing for the water instead of the blue jello that they recommend. The kids all loved the teddy grahams "swimming" in the cake! I made this cake in October, 2006.

Gingerbread House
I fashioned this gingerbread house after "Jellybean Row," which is just a term that people use in St. John's (Newfoundland) to describe row housing in very vibrant colors! This was the first house I drew up the pattern myself for and it was the first time I "painted" with royal icing! It was a great project!! I made this in December, 2007.
