Dana's 40Th B-Day
This is my Fri nite cake club 6/225 project:: 12" and 8" choc cake w/raspberry cream filling. Fondant dusted with silver and violet sparkle/disco dusts. Diamonds are sugar/isomalt from GSA. It really sparkled and the bday girl wanted bling. Not pictured are the rhinestone broaches that were placed in the center of the top bow.

Mardi Gras Birthday
This was so fun. Everything including the 3 pointed hat is fondant except for the foil pics. The hat was the hardest part because I basically made as though I was making a real hat" 3 cones, cut curved pieces out then joined together and added a rim. Dried by gently stuffing with paper towel balls of different sizes. Birthday girl loved it.

Veterans' Day '09
I made this for a bake off at work to benefit veterans. Fondant (first time doing a fondant flag w/13 stars), represented all 5 armed services, marble (yellow and chocolate). I am very happy how this came out for a first. All the vet employees loved it and it twas so moist. Oh, and yeah, I did win most creative and most patriotic. But it was the only decorated cake; lol

Sarah's 18Th
I made this for my daughter's 18th Bday. When she turned 16 I painted, at her request, her bedroom 3 walls this color green and one wall black. Her fav color is one specific shade of green. It is satin ice fondant and royal icing on marble cake tiers. I gave no hints and she was so surprised and LOVED it I used it as an excuse to practice scroll/swirl work. I think I could do better, but this was a first try. Feel free to comment, TFL.

Camp Cupcake
These were made for the Bsic troop camping training team for my GS council. We were having a meeting at one of our camps, so I thought these would be festive. Tents, flowers, leaves and trefoils (GS symbol) = fondant, tent poles, flower stems, signposts = pretzels, dirt = graham cracker crumbs, buttercream icing. For the flag poles, I wiggled out the standard toothpicks and replaced with bamboo skewers. Each tent had a flagpole + teddy graham. Council initails = food-safe markers. Feel free to comment.

Hex-New_Years_Clock_A-Resized.jpg
This was made for Boss' family. The base is 9" hex, with buttercream and Satin Ice fondant. Top is also fondant. Each cake is 2 layers, marble (vanilla/choc swirled), buttercream fill. It was a quickie (what I call a 'throw-together' cake. I think I did pretty well. Feel free to comment. Thank you for looking.

Pop Corn Cups
These are my experiments at making marshmallow pop corn. I put them on cupcakes that were baked without wrappers, that were then wrapped in fondant. I only coated the tops with piping gel to make the "pop corn" stick. I didn't have any white icing and I wasn't going to waste a batch if they didn't work. Otherwilse, ideally, you would not see cake in between the pop corn. I love this and can't wait to make a whold batch. Just a warning to those of you are going to try it yourself: Allow lots of time!!

Chelsea's 17Th Bday
This was for my daughter's best friend. It is 2 hex sizes and buttercream basketweave all the way up to the top edge. The roses were royal icing that I had left over from a wedding cake. (royal icing almost lasts forever) and the leaves were fondant left over from another cake. I think the cake was lovely, but somethimes I still write on a slant when I'm tired. The cake was choc (every teens favorite).

Sea Cloud Sail-Abration
I made this cake for my Girl Scout Troop's year end court of honor (award ceremony). We are mainer scouts (high school age with nautical focus) and sail so I made each girl a boat lollypop. I molded the name plaques, boats (top boat is solid choc, including sails), GS lollypops and lettering. This was my first attempt at MMF and I have to tell you, the lollypops were easier to work with!!. The cakes are marble. Each girl got a slice with her name and a boat. Feel free to comment, I can take it. Thank you.
