A groom's cake consisting of 12x16x2 sheet & a 9x4" heart - all covered in buttercream basketweave. Chocolate dipped tux strawberries.
There really wasn't a section for this occasion. Since a minister is considered a father of his congregation I decided to put it here :) The tiers are 12, 10, 6 displayed on the floating tier stand. There are two satellite cakes - each is a 12x4 sq topped w/an open book cake. All are iced in buttercream. The tiers are decorated w/fondant cutouts - people representing his family members (bottom tier) - their names are on top of this tier, then the minister & sheep (center tier) and the top tier is 'celebration' with streamers & stars. The book cakes have frosting sheet pix along w/scriptures written.
This small wedding cake is iced in buttercream with fondant daisies and fencing. The top tier is wrapped in tulle. Tier sizes are 6, 8, 10.
All buttercream icing. Orange blossoms are piped with RI.
10 & 6" rounds in green and pink for a birthday. Fondant flowers and stripes on buttercream.
This idea can be used for many occasions. It's simple, generic yet feminine. Fantasy gumpaste flower with fondant leaves & fern adorn the 6"x3" round iced in buttercream. Reversed shell border.
Fondant Diamonds, stars, circles in blue & green decorate this pineapple buttercream iced 6"x4" round cake. Simple, to the point, generic for those times they give you nothing to work with.
This 8x3" round is iced in buttercream. Wafer paper butterfly flutters among some swirled drop flowers along with some fondant 'free-formed roses(?)' to give a nice floral balance. The cameo is fondant from a mold dusted w/shimmer dust. Borders are 'c' shells. This feminine design could be used for most any occasion including Mother's Day.
When you don't have a theme......."Oh, just do whatever!" says customer :( use something like this. Stars are fondant dried in a cup; center plaque is also fondant.. All other icing is buttercream. I usually use some combination of blue, green, and brown for cakes for men. It seems to work well ;)
A single layer 12" round. All icing is buttercream. Roses formed with air-drying b'cream. Cornelli piped with tip 2, as are bows. Side swags are zigzags from tip 86. Complete the design with simple shells from tip 20. Can be used for any feminine occasion such as anniversary, birthday or Mother's Day.

9"x3" heart is iced in buttercream. Roses are air-dried buttercream then airbrushed deep purple. Stringwork from tip 2; borders are reversed shells from tip 69. Base board covering is a lavender plastic tablecloth. As many of my designs are this basic idea could be used for several different occasions such as an anniversary, birthday or Mother's Day.
Simple fondant stripes around a single layer buttercreamed 10" round. This could be used for several occasions like Father's day (pipe 'dad' where the 18s are) or birthday as shown.
This 6"x4" round is iced in buttercream. Flowers are fondant. This could be used for any feminine occasion....birthday, Mother's Day or some kind of congratulations. Borders are stars from tip 18; bottom has additional dots from tip 3. We tend to forget how pretty a properly made star border can be.
This 12" sq is a single layer, torted & filled. Buttercream iced. Wafer paper and Edible Image decorations. Background buildings are airbrushed thru a stencil.
This design is sooooo well suited to graduation cakes. 2 layers 10" sq with a corner cut out and stacked on top. The all buttercream design uses chocolate molded diplomas, plastic cap and gumpaste ivy strand.

Many times we are called upon to create one cake for several occasions. This is one idea I often use. Each 8" round is a single layer & set side-by-side on one board. All icing on this one is buttercream. Rose buds are royal. Butterfly is a frosting sheet creation.
After having great success w/cookie cakes for Valentine's Day I thought I'd offer them for Mother's Day......didn't catch on as well ;( These are sugar cookies baked in the small oval pan. Iced &/or decorated with buttercream. Fondant lace and flowers.
With very limited equipment and notice I created this single layer 8" round iced in buttercream w/fondant accents. The diamonds on top are held up with toothpicks :) This greneric design will work great for a man or older teen boy; I've done similar in several other color combinations of blue, green, &/or brown.
In an effort to keep from making the same cake over and over I often will suggest using a different shaped pan. This time I used the largest oval pan - single layer. It is all buttercream.......the roses air-dried before being set on a bed of leaves & grass - ala: Roland Winbeckler style.
A gal gave me her shoe to copy! I took pix of the shoe, made a paper pattern, then cut the shoes out of a sheet, a small sq and small round, pieced them together & covered with fondant. She was delighted :) Here's the link to the pattern: http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1405916
It was hard to pick a catagory for this 6"x4" round cake :) It is iced in buttercream. Decorations are: wafer paper leaves; gumpaste & fondant flowers & fern; and chocolate molded hearts It could be used for a shower, birthday or other event.
