Here is a picture of one of the largest cakes I have done. Delivered it yesterday, and the mother of the birthday girl was very happy (whew)! Bottom tier is chocolate cake, chocolate mousse; top tier is vanilla cake with vanilla mouse. All covered in fondant and fondant decorations.
Always wanted to do this from the Wilton book and an opportunity came up. Not as pretty and neat as in the book (fondant not happy with this summer weather despite A/C), but will taste great and hope the recipient likes it.
This is a design from one of the Wilton yearbooks I made for my niece who is getting married in Las Vegas next week. My first time doing the gumpaste/fondant decorations, and must say am pretty proud of most of it. what happened to my writing on the front sign, geesh! This is for a co-worker's second baby (yes did her first cake too). It is a WASC, however I forgot to put in the sour cream! Was just not as dense as normal. It has blueberry flavoring & blueberries in it, as well as a cheesecake mouse filling with fresh blueberries, buttercream icing & decorations.

Well here it is, for better or worse, my first HUGE topsy turvy cake, which I delivered yesterday. An hour after this picture was taken, the thing collapsed. I am mortified! Spent the last day and a half going over in my brain what I could have done to prevent this..........live and learn I guess.
Here is a cake made for a co-worker who received his MBA this week (nice kid). This was actually practice for my real big job next weekend (a third tier on the bottom). Was not as hard as I thought, but learned what I needed to do. Not the design I had in mind, but I am not that good an artist. Also, had trouble with my fondant, so have to work on that too. This was a quick, 1-layer cake (was too hot to bake any more yesterday) for a co-worker's birthday, who does not know we know how old he turned! The decoration was one of my boss's idea! Banana cake, buttercream icing.

Only had three orders this year (probably because I raised my prices). Two Easter Egg Cakes and a half dozen cupcakes. Egg cakes are one vanilla and one chocolate, and the cupcakes are carrot cake - all covered in buttercream.
One of the ladies at work will celebrate her 30th anniversary at the bank tomorrow. This cake was inspired by one I saw in CC - Beach Wedding Cake By: CraftT. Now mine is not nearly as neat as hers, but it was fun to make! Chocolate cake, oreo filling, buttercream icing, chocolate seashells and used ground vanilla cookies, graham crackers and some sanding sugar for the beach sand.
Lemon cake, raspberry filling, whipped cream icing and vines/leaves, and fresh raspberries on the outside. Not a traditional birthday cake, but had both a male and female co-worker with the same birthday today. Was a big hit!
This is a baby shower cake for one of the guys in my office. Was not thrilled with my decorating, but I just had surgery 5 days before and obviously my hand was not steady, but I promised a cake for the office. One layer, no filling. Used an idea from the "gourmet flavor" thread, a strawberry-lemonade cake (strawberry cake and lemon cake swirled). Let's see what the office gang thinks of it. Buttercream icing and decoration.
Made for a co-worker of one of my sons, who has been real nice to him. He asked her what she wanted - so this is chocolate cake, chocolate icing and the filling is whipped cream with strawberries. Even the baker at the store where they all work loved it better than the store cakes! LOL!!! Now, to work on my writing (stil) to get it nice and straight.
Made this for my grandson's 3rd birthday. No laughing now, it is not as good as most I have seen on this site, but my first time doing this type of thing. My grandson knew who it was, all that counts(see his fingerprints in the icing). Used the football pan and an oval pan underneath, did a little sculpting, rice-krispie treat engines and fondant wings. Doctored "funfetti" cake with buttercream icing - decided I hate making red icing, what a pain! thanks for looking!

For same co-worker's husband as last year. Very disappointed in my chocolate transfer (have done much better ones), but this was a last minute order and actually made this cake (including making icing, filling & cake) in under 3 hours! Chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream icing, oreo cookie filling.
Here is the second cake in as many weeks that I decorated at my camping trailer for a party for a fellow seasonal camper. 12x12 square, WASC, filling is pastry cream flavored with peach oil, peach pieces and peach schnaps, buttercream icing and decorations. Was not sure how it would go over, but everyone wanted seconds! Made me feel good!
Yes pumpkin roll! One of my co-workers' son loves my pumpkin rolls (he turned 12) and that is what he wanted for a birthday cake!
A friend at the campground asked that I make a cake for his wife for their anniversary. Well being tired to doing 8" round cakes, went out on a limb and did this one! Yes more than he ordered, but I enjoyed doing something different. Lemon cake, with whipped cream & fresh blueberry filling, buttercream icing and flowers.
Just a quick, simple cake made for my cousin's baby shower. Lemon cake, cheesecake flavored mousse with cherries, buttercream icing. The little duck is actually one of those you put in the baby's bath and if the water is too warm, the word HOT appears on the underside of the duck. His hat is MMF with buttercream details.
