Baby Shower Cake 5-31-08
Here is an 11 x 15 cake I made to try to replicate the shower invitation. Got pretty close. We had a bout of unexpectedly hot weather and had to keep putting the cake in the fridge. Too late for my writing though, which I really wish I could do much better as it brings down the looks of my cakes......and I even use the press in letters! ARGH!!

Birthday Cake For Another Co-Worker
This was requested of me yesterday afternoon, meaning I had to go home and bake right away. Good thing it was cool outside (and not raining) that the cake cooled fast enough. Got this done (including baking, making icing, filling & decorations) in 4 hours.......hence the simple design. This cake is actually for an adult. . . ROO is an acronym for retail operating officer! LOL!!! White cake, chocolate mousse filling, chocolate buttercream icing. Thanks for looking!

Cake For My Reunion Committee Meeting
I am on my high school reunion committee and have not seen these folks in a couple of years since our last reunion and I took up cake decorating. So made this up quick. 8" cake with chocolate cake, oreo cookies & creme mousse, chocolate icing. Buttercream yellow roses (made over hershey kisses base).

First (Paid) Fondant Cake
This is a large (8" and 12" squares) cake made for a baby shower - not my choice of colors, but I worked from a photo they gave me as a suggestion. So disappointed in my fondant work as I know I have done practice cakes for myself alot better. Did enjoy working with SI fondant though, was easy to use and fairly tasty. Top cake is vanilla with french vanilla mousse, and bottom is chocolate with chocolatte mousse. Will see when I get to work what they thought of it.

Football Birthday Cake
This is for a co-worker's dad who's birthday is today, so she wanted a football theme. This is a 9x13 cake, buttercream icing, oreo mousse filling, and chocolate footballs for decoration. It was a smaller cake than I thought and feeling guilty charging her $40, so that is why I put in the filling. She wanted vanilla cake with chocolate icing, but used my regular vanilla buttercream.....but had chocolate cake scraps left over and used them like a spackle (al la Toba Garrett) under the icing for a coating.

Snowman Birthday Cake
This is my version of a cake I saw on here designed by mamafrogcakes (thank you!). One of my co-workers saw it and wanted it for her daughter's 3rd birthday. It is lemon cake with raspberry filling (also from this site) and buttercream icing. To date one of my better cakes - too bad I can't design one myself! Thanks again Mamafrogcakes!

Christmas Tree Mini-Cake
Here is the first of three mini (5") cakes made for the craft fair I did yesterday. These are all 5" round, 1 layer cakes, torted and filled with flavored buttercream, covered in marshmallow fondant with air-dried buttercream decoration. This was the vanilla cake with oreo filling. Deb

Star Wars Birthday Cake
Made for a co-workers' boyfriend. This turned out close to what I had pictured in my mind, but not quite (can't seem to get idea from brain to cake). Not happy with how the writing turned out either. At least the icing came out smooth! LOL!! The figures are actually M&M Christmas ornaments I found. Chocolate Khalua cake with buttercream icing and oreo cookie filling, stars are fondant brushed with sparkle dust. Any comments (and suggestions) welcome.

My First Tiered Cake
Here it is, the cake I made for my daughter's baby shower and my first tiered cake. Wow, what a project this type of cake is! Despite all the mistakes on the decorating side (thankfully white chocolate shells cover alot) was pretty happy with my first tiered cake. Bottom layer is lemon cake with raspberry whipped cream cheese filling, middle is chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and the top is french vanilla with cheesecake flavored mousse

Cupcake Shaped Birthday Cake
Needed to do a quick cake last nite for a co-worker's birthday, so decided to try the cupcake pan. Not that easy to bake as the large part is deep, but the other part is not........wierd. Ended up only torting the top part for a filling. My co-worker absolutely loved it! Yes, that is a white chocolate covered cherry on top. Banana cake, strawberry filling, buttercream icing.

Cake For Office Meeting
Here is a cake I made for a meeting at my office. 10" chocolate cake, cream cheese icing and cheesecake flavored mousse filling, with the company logo on top - only wanted a simple design. I am a bit disappointed in this as I still do not seem to be able to smooth the sides without taking off too much icing, no matter what method I use!

Farewell Cake
This was made for my husband's co-worker. Chocolate cake with vanilla mousse filling. The buttercream icing is one I found in an old Wilton yearbook called "deluxe buttercream". The recipient of the cake, who has had my cakes before, said it was the best icing I have made..........hmmm, may have stumbled on something here! Flowers & leaves are marshmallow fondant. Side note: the Wilton "extra special buttercream" recipe is the same as the "deluxe" one I found in the old issue. I just added 2/3C cocoa.

Baby Shower Cake 6-29-07
Here is a pic of the baby shower cake made for a co-worker (second cake in as many days. Copied from a Wilton yearbook. WASC cake, buttercream frosting. Turned out ok, but stil have to work on smoothing my sides a little better. Thought I had the right sized tip to do the yellow stripe, but didn't, so had to do it 3 times instead of once, which really messed it up a bit. Large bear is a chocolatge transfer, and the rest are candy melts. All in all the receipient loved it, which is what counts!
