1St Time For Everything
A friend of mine and I were trying this for the first time. I had never made my own fondant before (or the MMF we used on this one), never painted on fondant before, and had only tiered, not stacked cakes before, so a first time for everything with this cake.

You did a very beautiful job. I did a cake recently with the MMF and it started crackin also. I just added some crisco and it made it all better!
I'd really like some honest critisizm/instruction on this one, please? My MMF when painted, looked very flawed in certain areas. The MMf had some cracks in it, which the paint highlighted very nicely. Any ideas?
For first timers, you have passed with flying colors!! That is pretty, great job!!! I love the colors. No criticism from me.
That looks great! What do you use to paint on fondant?
we used clear vanilla extract, but I read that you can use anything oil or alcohol based (including rum! :P), but rum or burboun could melt flower edges.
So you just mixed the vanilla with the gel colors or ?? I think it's gorgeous!!
Ok you want honesty. I love it and am totally amazed YOUR FIRST TIME!!! Can you teach me how to get mine to look this AWESOME
Awesome job!!
I think it looks lovely! I love the flowers on top and sides. Great job!
Looks great!
Cracks? What cracks? I don't see any cracks, I think it looks beautiful!
I used the brush-on colors you would use with stamps (Wilton sells it), which you don't have to dilute to get a stronger color, but we did dilute it for the grass and sky. The top flower, I just dipped my brush in the vanilla, scraped off excess and used it to paint with luster dust (burgundy). As far as the cracks go, they're on the other side. I'll upload it so you can see what I mean, and maybe give me some advice?
Really nice job! I want to try MMF.
That's a gorgeous effect...like a watercolour! I've never seen that done, but I really like it. I don't see the cracks, they are so minor!!
You need to quit being hard on yourself! The cake is beautiful! Really it is!!
