This is the cake I made for my daughter's 5th birthday. The carousel is made so that my girl can keep it in her room indefinitely. It's made from styro-foam, foam core and the center is piping. The horses are plastic with a lollipop stick through it. I covered the sticks with gumpaste (gold dusted). The carousel is covered in fondant and gumpaste and dusted with luster dust. I added mirrors, pearls and ribbon. The special touch to my girl is a music box I but into the base that plays "Butterfly Kisses". The cake is iced in buttercream and finished with her name done in gumpaste and luster dusted. It was so much fun to do something special for my daughter. The carousel was a labour of love and hopefully enjoyed for a long time.
