veejaytx - So YOU"RE the one who did the 1st PPE!!!! lol The day the contest them was announced, that was the very first thing that popped into my mind!! I kid you not!
But it took me a few days to figure out and plan exactly how I was going to do it. So one evening after supper I checked in on CC, just before going to start on the cake.....LO & BEHOLD! There he was in all his glory, already entered into the contest. lol I thought..ARRRRGGGGHHH!! Somebody beat me to it! HA!
Oh well....maybe next time. So maybe that's all it was....both of you just happened to have the same idea (as I did) and since the other person undoubtedly had already at least done the planning for it, they decided to go ahead with it so their efforts weren't in vain. I have to say, though, that what I had planned for mine was very different from yours.....but since someone else had already entered one, I didn't want to enter mine & have them (you) feel like I stole your idea and was trying to show you up or something....just didn't feel like that was good cake or CC etiquette. I was a little bummed at first, but then realized that it must have been divine intervention!! hehe Because over the next few days I got so busy with our house plan changes and such that I really wouldn't have had the time to execute my "cake plan" as well as I would have liked to....so it worked out fine. And I kept my drawings & notes...I'll probably do it for my dad's birthday one year...he used to sing that song to me when I was little, so it's fitting!
Get over it and move on! Even if every cake in the contest was the same - only one would win!
Another idea I had and haven't seen yet was edible cupcake liners (weird I know) but I read about some people who liked to chew them...especially as kids and then I read about all the cupcake litter outside of Magnolia's and the idea just popped into my head. They could be made out of some kind of rice paper...edible. Kind of a fad/novelty idea since it would serve little to no purpose. Well I'm way off topic. Just having fun...
I did notice that on the Cupcake Challenge on Food Network that one of the competitors did a chocolate cupcake "liner". (The girl with the short brown hair and wearing the striped tights) But one of the judges noted that it made eating the cupcake a little difficult because of the hardness of the chocolate and the thickness of it at the bottom. I didn't see how she made it, though...wish I had. I'm pretty sure she didn't bake the cupcakes in it, though!! HA! She must have made the choc. liners and then placed the cupcake inside it, maybe with a little frosting to keep it from falling out? But the choc. was pleated, just like a paper liner...must have used those as a mold. So maybe that'll get your mind going on your idea a little bit.....MMMMMMM chocolate!!! hehehe ![]()
Get over it and move on! Even if every cake in the contest was the same - only one would win!
Were you referring directly to my statement?? Becuase that's how it appears. If so, maybe you should re-read it....I'm not upset about anything. I just read veejaytx's initial post and responded to it...but after reading your post (directly after mine) I had to go back and read all 5 pages to see if I had missed something..I thought obviously I must have with such a short & rude comment. If you read my post correctly, my attitude towards this is more "live & let live" than some of the others. I could care less if someone entered a cake like mine in the contest....but I was just stating that I thought there might be others out there who are maybe more sensitive about that sort of thing, so I chose not to make mine/enter it. I know I came in a few days late on this thread, but all I was doing was sharing my viewpoint...sorry if that bugged you.

I don't think it was directed to you... I think It's more like come one everybody let move on. That's how I took it.
The comment wasn't directed at you or at anyone else in particular. It was directed at the entire disruption going on here.
It's amazing how such a great, helpful, sharing group of people with such talent and ability can go so far overboard on something so trivial. Sorry if you took it personally.
I'm done wasting my time and everyone elses. This sort of thing is going to be the downfall to an otherwise wonder place to visit and share.
There have been some mean comments in the post
HOW SAD!!!!
OK first of all I am the one who made the spider cake. I did not see your cake which is very well done. I am withdrawing my cake from the contest. I never ment to upset anyone. It was a quick cake i did for my nephews bday not even made for the contest just thought i would enter so i could participate. Its not exactly the most original idea out there Not to worry though i have plenty of ideas of my own i dont need to "copy" yours. Once again i am sorry to upset you.
NOw thats done with i would like to say something very quickly.......... last time i checked most of us were adults here. I graduated from high school 6 years ago i thought i left this childish and foolish name calling behind. I have more important things to do in my life than to get upset over a cake or who said what about me. This is the only post i will ever make about this subject so continue to bash me all you want if it makes you feel better then by all means do it.
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!! Well said Susan!!!!! The name calling needs to stop!!!!!!
Jackie or Heath,
Would you please lock this post? I think it has caused enough damage. Susan is a great person & I know she would have never posted her spider cake IF she would have seen the other persons cake. I never saw the other spider cake posted in the contest either? I'd like to know when it was posted. So please lock this post too. Thanks!
I have locked this thread.
I have started a new thread here:

Where you can find my comments on these topics.
As for Susan's spider cake, I personally would not like to remove it from the contest, simply because I think it has just an equal chance of winning as all of the other cakes in the contest.
Susan, if you would like me to remove it, please send me a PM, however I sincerely hope you change your mind ![]()
