My local micheals only sends out flyers and coupons to specific postal codes. They wont give the flyers out at the store. they told me to call Micheals> I did and micheals told me they would mail me the flyer, it would take 2 week. Havent had anything yet, that was over a month ago. the store is over an hour drive and I am not going to go if I know other people are getting coupons and I cant if just because I cant live in the correct postal code!! icon_cry.gif

I just wish there was a Michael's closer to me. The closest one is an hour away.

Can you buy the Sunday newspaper in a grocery or convenience store? Near the actual store. Will they put the flyer in those?

Is there a JoAnne's near you. I think they have flyers right in the store.

I don't get the flyer either.. you can go in and use it still.. tell them you do not get the paper and they HAVE to honor it.
they have a sheet that you put your name and postal code on... although i can't count the number of times i've given them that info and havn't gotten the flyer lol

Which area do you live in? I have seen people that live in T.O. go to Michael's in Ancaster and they never have a problem using just giving their postal code.

Just use the books they have at The post office and find a postal code That's in the area and use it. That's what I would do if they gave me any flack.

Hi, I am in Ottawa. Same boat though, the closest one to me is about a half hour's drive, but there is one scheduled to open close by, next spring. Haven't been in Michaels in a few months, but they always had the flyers at the cash and would give on, if you asked.
Where are you in Ontario?

Michaels also has a website that allows you to look at flyers according to area. All you have to do is put in a postal code and it'll give it to you

They used to allow you to print the coupons from the flyer online, but not anymore. Didn't see the 40% off coupon that you can use for Wilton on this flyer online, unless I am losing it....

Maybe you don't need a coupon because it gives you the option to buy it online!!

But I am not seeing the 40% off all regularly priced items available, are you? That was the reason why we would use it, it worked on the 1 higher priced item you would buy that was at regular price.

Michael's accepts competitors coupons from places such as Joanns. Go to Joanns website to sign up for their mailing list.

The Michael's in Markham, Ontario, told me that if you don't live in the area, you can just give your postal code and initial a sheet and they will give you the 40% off.
They also said, that as long as there is a flyer for that week, there will be a 40% off coupon in it.
You can check on their website to see if there is a flyer or not each week. When there isn't one, the website usually says that there is no promotions available and to check back next week.

I'm seeing the coupon (although it doesn't look like a "clip this thing out" coupon) on the back page, right side column. I'm looking at the Burlington flyer, I expect it is likely be the same as yours. It reads:

Half off tuition for
Wilton Cake Decorating Class!
Course 1, 2 or 3:
4 Classes for $17.50.
Classes start the week of
Nov 6. What a deal!

Nov 6th!! I can't schedule time off for that with such short notice. Pooh.

I was in that store last week and I didn't see any signs anywhere promoting classes, just a pamphlet with general "We hold Wilton classes" info.

I also got rather put off by the prices they have on stuff: the large 30" Wilton rolling pin was $29 while the same thing was $24 at Bulk Barn. 8" Preferred pan was $11.89, at Bulk Barn: $10.49

Haha, I see that one, I thought she was looking for the 40% off any item in the store, that covers Wilton items purchased.
I agree, most things are cheaper at the Bulk Barns, but not everything. What I like is the Bulk Barn out in Gloucester, close to me, usually also has old stock that is discontinued and sometimes great prices on it too! The Party Mart also carries Wilton, not cheap though.

thanks for everyones info, I think my micheals is just difficult. i know last fall when I took the classes the teacher gave us a flyer with a coupon nearly every week. She said that the store wouldnt give you a discount without the actual coupon (some were 40% off the odd 50%)so she would collect them for us. I guess I dont like paying full price for somehting when I know that other people in front of me in line are getting 50% off!!! I think I will change micheals though that would mean a very long drive!!!

Bulk Barn is a franchise chain of stores where you can get stuff in.. um.. bulk! icon_wink.gif

They have bins and bins and bins of stuff like nuts, candies, sauce mixes, sugar, spice, glacé fruits, and so on that you scoop out and drop into a bag. You'll likely have seen the "bulk" section in your local grocery store, this is like that only much much bigger with way more stuff. They also carry other items like material to make your own soaps, jars and bottle s for spices and, well, whatever you want to jar up, vitamins, and a ton of other neat goodies.

They carry a selection (not huge, but certainly serviceable) of Wilton products including a decent collection of tips, colours, cardboard rounds, piping bags, rolling pins, torting cutters, cake boxes, lots of pans (regular and character), etc..

Cakey things I've found there:
Meringue powder, about a third the price in bulk than the packaged version
Pre-mixed fondant (I haven't got that yet, no idea if it's good)
Candy making supplies
Bulk chocolate in several varieties (pure, white, semi-sweet, etc.)

It's very cool. Check the site I linked above to see if there's one near you.

It's not noted on the web version , but on the one that was delivered with the local paper, there's a 40% off coupon on the bottom right of the front page (where the web version says "Over 4000 free project ideas") but in the coupon's fine print it sates that this can't be used for class fees.

So if there's a half-off offer (good to Oct 28 only) but the coupon won't do it, then you "should" be able to just go and get a class for $17.50 without problem - unless you can't go because you didn't find out about this until too late and can't change your work schedule. Grrr.

Bah- just called them and level one at the local store is full for November anyway.

I have used the 40% off coupon for the class kit when the class is on sale. That way its way cheaper. If you luck out you can use the coupon for the class kit when they have a buy the kit get the class for free! then you only pay for half the kit- thats why not getting the coupon ticks me off. why pay 40.00 for the kit and 35 something for the class when you can get everything for around 20 bucks icon_twisted.gif

In the Toronto area, you have Golda's Kitchen, www.goldaskitchen.com
www.creativecutters.com
There is another store, cannot remember the name. If it is the Greatest Cake Decorating Store or something similar to that. Apparently they have a lot of stuff too.

I've been there its the best store I have seen, great prices, great staff (more than willing to give away secrets) and they have fondant thats way better then Wiltons... (although I think I will try MMF next time) The lady even let me watch a few classes before I decided if I wanted to sign up or not... They do not have a web site though..

Thanks for the help

I usually go to the walmart on Keele/Lawrence or the one on highway 7 and I noticed that they don't have too much selection but they still carry some wilton items. Which one do you go to??? I hope they don't take wilton out completely because I really like going to walmart. Some of their items are really reasonable.

Actually, they pulled Wilton things out of Walmart more than a year ago. So you may be seeing old stock.

neither of these had any wilton products, when I started to decorate cakes, you used to be able to get cake pans and everything from there. icon_cry.gif
