Lynne - I don't know what's worse - finding out there's a food problem or finding out it's from last month and people are only getting notified now!

Hope everyone had a good day - our small Thanksgiving was definitely better than advertised!  Of course a nice dinner just me and P is always welcome.  We did the stuffing-plus drop at one of my sisters yesterday. One brother and his wife also came and we had a nice short masked visit, then my sister took our other sister's care package over to her.  So it was stuffing (yes, I had some for breakfast too - it's required!), mushroom gravy and apple crumb bars - uncut so you can cut your own size (insert pig noise here)!  Mu other brother lives in Arizona so no curb side!!

Before I got married my Mom bought me a Corningware set - there were 5 dishes and covers - she said she was keeping the largest one.  After she passed away I just took it from my Dad's (he of course was fine with it).  A few years ago I realized there was really one for each of my brothers and sisters and I would keep the big one.  So I make the stuffing in the big one. My local-ish brother and sisters then put their portion in theirs at home.  That's what made the holiday for me!

So here's a few photos!

Hi Ladies, I hope you all had a blessed thanksgiving. I'm just sharing a sample of what we had. Potato-herb rolls by my sweet teenager, Saint Honoree, homemade cranberry sauce and gravy. Sweet potatoes (for the rascal!) and green beans casserole, Southern corn dressing and turkey galantine. I'm Venezuelan...I have no clue how to roast a whole bird that size. We had a lovely dinner, hubby, kiddos and me!

Will you share how did your gathering go...? post pictures if you have any!

Reggis!

theresa — love the stuffing drop update but especially sweet is the corning  ware story! sniff — made me nostalgic —

my little sweet mom passed 18 yrs ago today in fact — that yr it was the day before thanksgiving —

but this year we had a lovely meal with my daughter and her sweet husband — I cheated and had a Diet Coke — my daughter poured it into a wine glass for me — I swirled it around the glass like they do, inhaled the ‘bouquet’ and sniffed the cap for good measure — had a real nice fun time —

had excellent gluten/sugar/ dairy/egg free pumpkin pie — and chocolate cheesecake also g/s/d/e free — and a wonderful cranberry tart that did have egg and sugar in all the right places! wow wow wow it was So Good!

Oh my goodness ladies, if I wasn't so stuffed (again) from Thanksgiving left-overs, my mouth would be watering at these pictures and descriptions!  Here are a few shots of our dinner with neighbors.  I prepared all the food and Andy supply the house.  As you can see, she has a wide open space so we were not on top of each other.

Kate thinking of you and your Mom! No matter how old we are or how long ago they left us, it's the same feeling!  But they are with us, especially at holiday times!  And your pie looked so good!!

And I see that Sandra's super table has my same Corningware lol!  Everything looked great - and plentiful!

Talenti ice cream comes in a perfect size plastic jar with a screw on lid.  We did our pandemic part by eating too much ice cream early on (we had to slow that down after a while!!)  so we had a little stockpile of jars.  But they start to melt/deform in the microwave so I had to put the warning label on my gravy!  I don't think your St Honore desserts would fit Regina but I'd like to dream one of your samples would arrive in my mailbox!

reginacb -- I'll get back to you on that picture...hahahaha

theresa -- yes for sure -- just for the record, my daughter made the 9" cranberry tart, I made the 6" chocolate cheesecake -- the pumpkin pie was 'store bought' from "raw girls" a vegan food business here,  -- the chocolate crust is made from almonds, the choco filling from cashews --

sandra, what a spread! I can't tell if I'm drooling more from the food or the counter space!!! hahahahaha

p.s. the best part about the chocolate cheesecake and the pumpkin pie that are both sugar/gluten/egg/dairy/free is that you don't go back for seconds! they are incredibly easy on any weight issues -- one small slice and you're satisfied, all the nuts  and they taste great -- the cranberry tart with sugar, I went back for seconds --

My my my everyone’s turkey spreads look  sooo great.   It never occurred to me to take pix.   I had a very pleasant afternoon getting to know my aquatints from church & another couple -friends of theirs.   And talk about a spread!!  There was sooo much another 1/2 dozen could have stuffed themselves & I think there still would have been leftovers:)  All the usual Thanksgiving dishes.  & of course I made a pig of myself.    Only drawback to the nice time is there was no offer to share any of the leftovers:(  but I made Stove Top stuffing at home so I’m enjoying that with a slice of ham I bought.   Found a chunk @ a store I seldom go to for just under $12 which I sliced into 6 pieces.

May I ask for your prayers?  The drs office cancelled my appointment 2x so my ear infection is hurting & no Dr appointment openings for another few weeks:(    That will make nearly 3 months with the infection plus of course it means no hearing in that ear.  I’m concerned that will be permanent:(

That's crazy, Lynne!  Why are they cancelling your appointments?  Do they think covid is the only illness affecting people right now?  I am so sorry you are in pain.

Andy, the neighbor who's house we used for our get-together, made the pictures.  I was too busy getting everything ready so folks could eat.  I told everyone to bring their to-go boxes, so everyone had all the left overs they wanted.  We still had too much to bring home.

K8 I found some oil of oregano capsules. Do you mean to invest them or poke a hole in & squeeze drops into the ear?

lynne, only take as directed on the bottle — no, not directly into the ear —

the zinc is also taken orally —

you should just show up as a walk-in at a minor medical place for an ear infection — you may need some antibiotics

Seems tho everyone had a marvellous thanksgiving. Good to hear. We’re getting concerned here because way too many people between 20-40 are breaking rules....congregating....mostly get togethes/parties in private homes. Our Premium has now given the green light to police to levy a hefty fine of $10,000 if you’re the host, and $1000-2000 for every person attending the illegal gathering. But that’s if you can actually catch them. Which is difficult. Three restaurants in my surrounding area have been closed and padlocked because they refused to follow Covid guidelines. Too many customers, no masks, no social distancing and private parties. All of these have sent Covid in too the community, especially long term care homes. I’m hoping and praying we can still see our family at Christmas.

Oh my kakeladi/lynne

My doctor squeezed me in a week ago because I was in so much pain. Even had x-rays the same day. And of course, our walk in clinics are 100% free, as in paid for by OHIP ( Ontario Health Insurance Plan) . We just show our health card, and zippity boo. I know it may be expensive Lynne, but you’re health is worth it. You will most likely need antibiotics. I hope you went to the clinic.

I’m starting to decorate my house this week....outside lights are done. Not 100% sure I’m putting everything up. Considering it may only be hubby and I that will see it. We’ll see. Think the worse is removing what already exists and putting in boxes....I loathe that part. But I always enjoy the house when it’s Christmasy...

Lynne I hope you went to the walk in too!  Ear pain is bad news - whenever I have an earache I always say this is why babies cry!  I hope you get relief soon !

We got a new fake tree this year, from Overstock.  I wasn't planning on setting it up until the weekend but then I was a little worried what if something was missing or wrong with it. But my Covid-inhome-office desk is in exactly the same spot the tree goes in.  So I had to move a bunch of stuff around and now I am typing this to you all sitting next to my tree!  Not decorated yet. but it does have 600 lights pre-lit so that was its selling point lol!  I plan on decorating the rest of the tree and house this weekend.

June - un-decorating is the worst time of the season.  I don't mind that the decorating part is basically for me and P!  The Canadian covid spread is just as disheartening as here in NY.  They just broke up a party out east on Long Island where a guy rented a house for the purpose of hosting a 500 person party.  The neighbors on the block started calling 911 when 200 cars were lined up on their block.  How irresponsible.  And criminal.

i'm glad we're talking about decorations -- I got a 7.5 ft pre-lit small footprint tree last year -- it is so pretty and sparkly it doesn't even need decor but I got some anyway this year --

I got carried away with pearl garlands, pink and leopard velvet ornaments, sequined roses, pink glitter spiral ribbons all over, lots of iridescent icicles, dancing snowman ballerina and a bejwelled polar bear -- and forgot to get all the branches all pulled out and happy before I decorated -- and pretty much ain't no way I'm doing that mess twice! hahahahaha so I'll be more careful next year -- it's really purdy blush

our cat is being such a good boy too! christmas_tree

I spent the day resting after neck therapy yesterday  then I baked a cake for Cake4Kids  have 2 in a couple weeks.  Spent forever mixing colored batters as ea cake is a unicorn/rainbow.   Changed the bed sheets —ooohh my that is a neck killer so I’m sitting here with ice on my neck .
