Jade, I don't see why you can't post pictures. There are people that post pictures of their kids in the Lounge section. That is why it is a members only section. Post away.
If not give us a link to where you have some pictures!
You can lose those 8lbs! You have before. And this is just a reminder to all of us that no matter what, when we reach our goals our journey isn't over.
Katherine I'm sorry ya'll are all sick. I hope everyone recovers soon!
Shelley, glad to here the little ones are doing better. Congrats on the treadmill and don't forget to take care of yourself!
I'm about to head to the store so I can start my week with some healthy foods. I didn't do that last week and it really showed in my eating. Tomorrow when my brother asks me if I am eating Healthy I'm telling him yes! No fast food!
I really need to get serious about my eating and exercise. Yes I've lost weight, but man I know I could have lost more if I had tried harder. It is time to try harder.
Oh my goodness, I am less than 160 lbs! I hate how I got there and am not getting my hopes up as I'm sure when my appetite returns I will probably put on a bit of weight before starting to lose again... I have also lost a significant amount of inches. My husband says I don't look healthy though.
That is NOT what I want.... Influenza is no fun.

I'm so sorry to hear you're sick! I hope you feel better soon. I lost 5lbs after I had my wisdom teeth taken out. I was down below 140 for the first time in 6-7 years. I definitely put on those pounds once I was eating solid food again.
But if you could lose it in an unhealthy way, I'm certain you can in a healthy one. It'll just take some time and effort. ![]()
I hope everyone is doing well today. I'm not sure I've lost any weight, because this weekend I was baaddd with food. One last foray into endless shrimp from Red Lobster and DH wanted a date night in with pizza and a movie.
Pizza is kind of a weakness of mine.
I just hope I didn't gain!
You look great Jade!! Weekends are my hardest when it comes to eating right, so I totally understand you.
Katherine, we'll worry with the weight when you get better. I think getting better is worth gaining a few pounds back just so you can feel better. And as Jade said, you can definetly lose it again.
So far so good with me today on eating. Of course I still have another 10 hours to get through, and hopefully can ignore the candy on my desk (atleast more than I have been) for the next 5 hours.
As of last Wed, I'm 25lbs away from my first goal weight. In the last 4 years I've lost 30lbs, so I'm over half way there. I orginally lost 25lbs, then floated around the 20lb mark for several years. Of course I've lost the same 10 lbs (160-170) several times over the last two years. Right now I stand at the lowest I have ever been, so that is encouraging. I've actually worn jeans to work and been comfortable in them.
Even though I haven't been keeping track of it (and I know I should be) I have also lost inches in my waist and around my stomach area in gerenal. Or atleast that is my thought since my jeans are fitting better and my other pants are getting loose. I've actually worn jeans to work and been comfortable in them. I'll need to buy a belt soon.
Since I went to the store last night I'm stocked up on good food again. Tonight my plan is to finish cleaning out the fridge and to make my meal plans with what is left. I'm going to do some cooking, prepping and freezing so I can make healthy eating easier for the rest of the week. I'm not a morning person so I really need to gather what I want to eat during the day the night before. That way in the morning I can throw it all in my bag rather than having to think about what I want and then getting it all together. Same goes for the nights when I have class. I need to have quick easy stuff that doesn't take long to cook.
I do have some frozen meals on hand, but I really don't want to depend on those to keep me on track calorie and portion wise from now on. I enjoy cooking and while I am going through all these other changes, then I need to make changes in how I cook as well. That way I can continue those changes from now on and not just while I want to lose weight.
Hoping it is a good week...

Okay, I'm posting even though my weight loss is not from trying:
Sep. 16 - 169.8
Sep. 23 - 170.4
Sep. 30 - 171.0
Oct. 07 - 165.6
Oct. 14 - 172.0

Still not eating much, food just repulses me right now.
I return to work tomorrow and hopefully will regain some good eating and exercising habits, I figure as long as I eat well I likely won't go all the way back up to 165 again! ![]()
Oh, and I'm wearing jeans for the first time in a week and my size 32's are loose all over! Influenza is bad, but I like this.... lol
Welcome to the 150's Kathrine. Take care of yourself and get better.
I'm hoping everyone else is just busy and not avoiding the thread. Don't forget ladies even if you didn't lose, don't give up. This is only one week, 7 fast flying days. We all have so many more days ahead of us to beat the weight beast.
Yes, hopefully everybody is doing great!! Remember we should check ih, even if we are doing poorly, it should help keep us accountable!
I am feeling better, thank you Tracey! I am forcing myself to eat again (healthy of course) and walked to work this morning. It was a bit challenging with a lot of ice, but it felt good to be out, breathing hard, and doing something good for me! ![]()
Remember Jade, even those small numbers add up to a big number in the end. ![]()
Katherine I'm glad you are back up and at it, but remember to slowly get back into it. We want you well too. ![]()
Well, I guess I'm back to almost-normal. My appetite has returned, but I still can't exercise properly as my lungs can't seem to get enough air.
I was 163.6 this morning on my scales... I am saying now that I refuse to go back up to 165!!
I'm trying to remain positive, I hate seeing gains, but do know that my big loss was from dehydration and the inability to eat with influenza.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!!!
We all hate gains, but you are right you do have to look at what has been going on in your body. Almost 6lbs is a big drop in weight for a week, and your body was out of wack and is trying to get back to functioning properly. Don't give up. Plus remember 163 is still lower than you were two weeks ago. Hugs girl!
I went out to eat and drank Saturday night but thankfully my weight is still mostly down, so we will see what happens on weigh in day.
I have an oppurtunitly to do a diet program here. My mom started it two weeks ago and told me this weekend if I wanted to do it her and my dad would pay for the first month for me, for my birthday and Christmas. I have mixed feelings about it since it starts off as a drastic diet and is Adkins-ish, which is a diet that has always worried me. The pro of it is that it is doctored supported. They do a completely blood work up the first week and check your vitals and such every week when you go in for your weigh in.
There is a part of me that says I'm losing weight doing what I am doing now, and it is more realistic to how I will be eating the rest of my life. And there is that other part of me that says mmm, quick weight loss. So I'm very conflicted.
Right now I'm leaning towards putting it off until after the holidays. This would give me a chance to keep going at it on my own and see how it goes. Plus I don't think the holidays are the best time to go into a very strict diet. Sigh.

If what you're doing now is working, and working well, it might not be in your best interest. Also, if you're not going to continue eating according to that plan, any weight you lose you'll probably gain back.
That goes for any "quick weight loss" plan. Most of those are unrealistic in the long term, and people gain the weight back.
For me, I'm not doing Adkins, but rather Protein Power, but modified a bit. Could I lose more, and more quickly if I followed it to a T? Sure, but I'd probably gain it right back.
Do what works for you, and what you KNOW you can maintain in the long term.
And remember, I'm really only losing 5-8lbs, instead of 10-20 I could have gained if I wasn't able to stick with what works for me. ![]()
I think that is what has stopped me from just jumping on board with it, is that I know I can lose on my own. I have lost 30 lbs over the last 4 years on my own. But oh, wouldn't it be nice to lose a bunch at once and get it over with faster than to drag it out like I have been. Then I also know if I just focused more on doing what I know I should be doing, working out more, watching what I eat, I could be losing more right now too.
This diet she is on, focuses alot on the protiens. It reminds me of the adkin's diet because you don't eat any starches/carbs. The first three days are actually all protien then you get to add in some veggies off their list of the next two weeks then add in fruit on week three. They do have different phases, so when you get to where you need to just maintain you have a different eating plan.
If I do it at all I won't do it until the first of the year, so I have time to watch and see how she does and back out. She has lost a little over 8lbs the first two weeks and is disappointed with that. I can understand how she feels cause you just want to lose and lose big, but I also told her she has lost more in two weeks than I have in three months. I'm afraid also, if I do get on it now with her, that it would become a competition between us, and I don't want that. I want her to lose cause she needs to, and because she wants to. I also don't want to either of us to get frustarted or depressed cause the other is losing more.
The first visit is $175 or more depending on what all options you pick, then it is $50 a week after that. They'd pay the first month for me, but then I have to consider if I really want to pay $200-$400 more after that. I'm hoping it wouldn't take me more than 2 or 3 months since I only have around 25 more to lose. But that is still alot of money. I could spend that money on a nice piece of exercise equiptment that I could use alot longer.
I think I know which way I am gonna go, I just don't like the temptation of doing it the quick way. ![]()
Hi-
When I had my kids I weighed 200pounds. Just recently hit my goal of 110 pounds. I am 5 feet' 1.
I worked with my health care provider and am on a no flour no sugar diet. I gave up cake decorating because I know I will eat sweets.
I walk 30 minutes a day. Since I live in NY I don't own a car and take public transportation everywhere.
Losing the weight has helped me alot. I do not have high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, my knees and back don't hurt. It is worth losing the weight.
I attend weight watchers for support once a week at work and also online.
My suggestion is give postive support to anyone here and keep up the good work.
Just take one day at a time. Before you know it you will lose the weight.
Hello everyone!
I managed to loose 1 lb this week. Such slow progress. My DH purchased that treadmill and I have been walking 30 minutes every day at 3.5 mph my highest speed.
This treadmill has options for 4 different workouts and will go up to 10 mph. I don't ever see myself going that fast. LOL
I do feel better after walking a while.
Have a great day ladies!
Congrats on the 1lb! I have always heard that the slower you take it off the more likely you will keep it off. That is why alot of the fade diets don't work, since you drop alot of weight really fast but then gain it back cause you haven't addressed what causes you to be over weight. Plus the big drops and big gains aren't healthy for your body in the long run.
As I told my mom yesterday, remember that is one pound less than last week, which is better than staying the same or even gaining!
Be proud of your pound!
My weigh in probably won't be good tomorrow since I've been craving salty the last few days. UGH! I also have what I am afraid is the beginning of a cold. Double UGH!
BundtDiva, thank you for your postive words! It is good to hear from other that have done it and know the hard work it takes. ![]()
Welcome bundtdiva, congrats on the awesome weight loss!!!
Congrats Shelley on the loss.
I have to be up at 4:30 to catch a flight so probably will skip my weigh in tomorrow... Chances are I will sleep in and won't get to the basement scales... lol! ![]()
hey everyone its been a while .....alots been going on good thing with this though i can read and catch up.....unfortunely since i been off here i havent been doing my diet and am back to my highest weight again ...the cycle continues.....

I have to share. Three months ago when I started working at my dad's office I bought some size 14P pants. They were very comfortable, not tight and easy to wear all day. Well in the last few weeks they have been practically falling of me. I can literally pull them off with out unbuttoning and unzipping.
So tonight at Walmart I decided to try some new ones on. The once I had previously bought were on clearance and I took a 12 and 10 to the dressing room. The 12s fit well, but I decided to try the 10s on as well. The 10s were tight, but I could get them on and zip them up. So I returned both to the rack and finished my shopping.
In the end I left with 4 pairs of size 10 pants. I decided that I'd rather work a little to get into these, than to buy some that I will just have to replace again in the near future. I'm sure I will soon get tired of pulling my pants up all the time. When that happens I have some size 12 jeans that were tight until recently that I can wear to work while I work my way more comfortably into the 10s.
I can't even tell you the last time I could have even gotten in to 10s and zip them. I was mostly a 14 in middle school and a 14/16 in high school. So this is definetly a nice accomplishment for me.
WOW! Congratulations, my friend! I can only imagine how good it feels to be so close to a comfortable 10!
I am still in my 14's but certainly feeling them get more lose around the waste and legs! You are an inspiration!
Now I want to go home and walk till I drop!
Great News!
Glad I can help inspire. The really lose clothes is one of the few ways I can actually 'see' that I have lost weight. Even though I know the numbers on the scale are getting lower, just standing in the mirror is hard to tell for me, but when your pants start falling off you can't ignore it.
When I lost the part of the first 25lbs I couldn't really see the progress. It wasn't until a friend of mine told me to look at two different pictures. One new and an older one and started pointing things out to me, face looks smaller, cheeks less puffy and more defined, collar bone more noticeable, that I finally clued in for the first time and could see the differnce.
It is also nice when people who haven't seen you lately comment as well. My best friend did the other night when we went out. Plus when I was at my grandma's on Sunday she had me stand up (she's got a halo on now) in front of her so she could check me out. She says I'm really getting a figure now.
I've always been curvy but now I'm really getting a figure. Plus I'm dressing to show it off more. I've learned that baggy doesn't really hide anything, it just makes you look shapeless. Getting the right fitting clothes can really make a difference. I still have a love/hate relationship with clothes shopping, but I've learned to go into it in the right frame of mind. I can go into the dressing room with many things and only like how one or two fit and not be depressed afterward. Just because something looks good on the hanger doesn't mean it will look good on me, and it doesn't mean there is something wrong with me.
For me I avoid most things that have a bunch or elastic at the bottom on the shirt because it often sits at waist level or right below the stomach, which draws more attention to an area that doesn't need it. I've also learned that tops with shape, that curve in at the waist, do accent me in a good way because they help give a better allusion of shape to the body. I do buy some straight fitting tops, but most end up being more shaped.
My number one rule is if I don't love it as is when I try it on I don't buy it. No more well if I lost a few pounds. No more well it doesn't look bad. No more well I don't completely like this but I'll get it anyway. Because I have found if I don't love it when I try it on, I won't really wear it, and it is money sitting in my closet.
I went shopping with my friend about a month ago. We have totally different body types, which makes shopping interesting. She is very tall and is a healthy weight, where as I am very short (there is 10ins between us) and obviously not a healthy weight. I made her try on some things that she probably wouldn't have and she picked some things out for me. We even were able to try on the same size of some things and boy did they look totally different on us. I actually ended up buying a dress that she had tried on (before I made it to the Mall to meet her). It looked good on her, but was almost too short, where as on me it was a great lenght. She'll also where some of my tops sometime when we are going out, and they always look totally different on her.
If you are short and you go shopping with a tall person you learn to appreciate your height. I can always shorten clothes where as you can't really add more material on.
It is a good experience though to go shopping with someone that has a different body type, because even though she doesn't have the weight issue like I do, she still has to discard clothes that she liked but didn't look great on her. And you realise, tall or short, thin or fat, just because they make it in your size doesn't mean you are meant to wear it.
Sorry didn't meant to get off in a tanget about clothes shopping. ![]()
I hope everyone is having a good week and gearing up for the weekend.
It took me 4 years to lose the weight.
You don't have to join a gym. I walk everywhere. If the weather is too cold to go outside or its snowing. I exercise at home either cleaning the house, organizing a room, or just do move.
I believe you will be healthier if you lose the weight slowly.
I also kept a diary of every piece of food I ate. I can see if I ate because I was hungry or just be bored.
Oh I have been losing slowly, I took off 25 lbs two to three years ago and kept off 20 of it for the longest. I totally believe in slow helps keep it off better. But fast also sounds nice too. ![]()
Where I live it isn't feasible for me to walk everywhere. I live outside the city limits so I can't just walk down the road to the grocery store. I really can't even walk in my 'neighborhood', because I live on a very busy road that isn't safe to walk on.
I'm not sure if I will ever join a gym. It is something I said I would wait to do. I do need to do some exerices at home though and am looking for ways to make myself do that. And if I get to a weight I like but still need to tone up then I may do the gym. Who knows.
