JHunt, welcome! We really don't expect you to read through all 50 pages of the thread, but if you ever get board and just need to know that others feel the same way you are, you can always go back and read some of it. There are some pretty good hints and suggestions tucked in here and there.

Sounds like you are off to a good start. Getting started I think is one of the hardest parts!

Melissa, I'm sending you a cyber HUG! I totally understand the depressed stuff. The last two days, I've been down. Today has been better, but I'm still not completely over it. Things will get better, Aunt Flo will make her visit and leave, and you will have three weeks before you have to deal with her again.

I may or may not deal with the rest of the clothes tomorrow night, if not it won't be until Sunday. Tonight I have class then I am stopping by a friends after it, so I won't be home until late. Saturday I have class this afternoon then that night I'll have my nephew since it is my brother's birthday and I offered to watch him so they can go out and do something. We shall see what Sunday brings.

I better run, gotta leave work early so I have time to get ready for class. Have a good night everyone.

Welcome JHunt!! You will LOVE it here! I homeschool our kids, too.

Ok, everyone got up and I had to fix breakfast. Now I'm headed out to Lowe's with Andrew and Jordan to pick up some drywall. Woo hoo!! Fun stuff. I'll try to check in as soon as I can - I know that y'all miss me when I'm gone icon_rolleyes.gif !

Have a great morning!

Still so busy here. icon_sad.gif After 2 weeks of not doing well with commitment to running, I have been running and exercising all week and my weight is hovering around 170....

Remember that I am several pages behind as I type this and respond! lol!

Congrats to everyone posting losses and sticking to a good lifestyle change! icon_smile.gif

Melissa, many hugs to you and I hope your marriage will be okay! You could try couples counseling but in my experience men are reluctant to give that a go. icon_sad.gif As for Kettlebells, do you use 2 at a time? I always hold on to one with both hands, if you went for a 5 lbs increase I think that would be a good start, you can do some exercises with dumbbells if you wanted to go higher and couldn't use that big weight yet! I'm just thinking in terms of money as I try not to spend too much on things I won't use for long...

Tracy, you are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for putting the time into this awesome post and being here with, and for, us all! I am so proud of you for getting to clean out your closet and get rid of all those large sizes! Yay you! icon_smile.gif

As for woman issues, I haven't had a period in about a year because I have a Merina IUD. It was costly but at the time my husband was still insisting on more children and I was against it... He's "fixed" now but I may get another when this one "expires" just for the savings on tampons and stuff! lol!

It is so insane looking at the nutritional information for restaurants!! It is completely scary how much calories, fat, sodium and lack of nutrition many things actually have! icon_sad.gif Some places are coming around... I hate it when we go out and places don't have whole wheat alternatives (pasta, bread or whatever....).

Welcome Jhunt!! icon_smile.gif It sounds like you are on the right track!!
We all come from different backgrounds and different body types and weights, and we are all here to support each other no matter what!! icon_smile.gif

Hugs to everybody feeling a bit blue! I hope to be able to be around more for the next few weeks before round 2 of meetings begins. I detest meetings, they really interfere with my social life (real life and online life!) LOL!

Mellisa, dry wall? Who put a hole in the wall? icon_wink.gif And of course we miss you when you are gone.

Katherine, I'm so glad to see you stop in. I've missed seeing your posts lately. Way to go with the exercise this week. I really need to do more of that myself. And don't worry soon you won't see that 17 in the first part of your weight.

I'm sitting at work all alone right now and will be for the next 3 hours. Three of them are leaving town to go to a hardware show and the rest are all out on job sites. I was hoping they'd tell me just to close down and go home, but no they want me here (with the door locked) until 4-4:30 to answer the phone. Not only that but I have to come over in the morning for a couple of hours. I was hoping I'd atleast get to sleep in, but when I asked my brother what time I needed to come over he was like 7:45 or so. Sigh. There goes sleeping in.

I want to schedule a hair appointment but I'm trying to figure out when I can fit it in. Guess I should just call and see what they have open and go from there. I haven't had my hair done since Dec, so I have roots! big time, plus even though I've trimmed my bangs serveral times they are in my eyes again.

Well I hope everyone is having a great Friday afternoon! We have gorgous weather, it has been in the 60s since Wed. So nice! Chances of rain Sun and Mon then Wed and Thurs next week, but atleast the temps will still be in the 60s. That's a plus huh? I getting ready to start thinking about flowers and if I want to tackle turning a part of my yard into a flower bed. Hmmmm!

HUGS!!

Okay so I'm sitting here needing to leave work but am still working myself up metally for a trip to Walmart.

On facebook this morning I had posted a comment about wondering if a donut was worth 180 calories. And yes I did eat it, along with a yogurt and boiled up and calorie tally was only 300. Not bad for a 'treat' and I still go protein so it wasn't a completely hopeless breakfast.

This afternoon I get a post on there that says "Nothing taste as good as loosing weight feels! One bite won't hurt either...it's all the other bites after that!"

And I'm thinking, do I agree with that? Of course I want to lose weight, and of course it feels great to lose weight, but at the same time I totally believe in not depriving yourself of anything.

Do normally skinny people never eat a donut? Do they always skip dessert or never eat out too? And are their meals really just fish and a salad?

And by normally skinny people I mean those people that don't have to think about what they eat, they either have great metabolism or just naturally eat regular portion sizes with out thinking about it.

Of course I have to play closer attention to what I am eating, but do I really think I'm going to go the next 20 or 30 or what ever years and never eat another donut? Is a donut ever so often really going to make me gain weight again?

Maybe I'm just in a mood, and I figure I'd vent it out here, instead of replying back with a tacky comment.

One thing I have always felt good about through out this whole journey is that I am trying to do now what I will have to do in 6 months from now or a year from now. I didn't drasticly just cut my calories to the bare bones. Yes I am only eating 1200-1300 calories a day, but at the weight I want to be at and my height, that is really close to what I would be eating. I'll be able to increase it a little, or just use the extra to treat my self with.

I feel like if I want to eat something, even if it isn't a "diet" food I should be able to, and I shouldn't have to freak out about it. Of course if I ate a dozen donuts that would be one thing, but if I have that not diet friendly food in moteration and keep it in consideration when I plan the rest of my food around it, I should be okay, right?

So tell me what ya'll feel about that comment? Am I just being pissy this afternoon?

Oh and on a side note, last night at Michaels one of the other employees asked me if I have lost weight. I was like yes I have. It felt good to say it. I had to laugh at her though cause I was like I've lot a little over 10lbs and she was says you short girls are lucky. You lose 10lbs and you can tell, I lose 10 lbs and you can't tell a thing. And I'm thinking, yeah but you can gain 10lbs and it doesn't show as bad as when I gain 10lbs. I guess that is one of the pros and cons of being a short girl. icon_smile.gif

Okay I am heading out of the door now. Going to Walmart, then I am coming home cooking dinner and cleaning up the kitchen. Right now I'm planning on talking my nephew into letting me cook for him instead of going out to eat. If he just insist, then we will go out and I'll make the healthy choice I can.

I'm considering going through the rest of the clothes tonight, but we will see. Going to bed early either way, since I can't sleep in.

And I got my hair appointment scheduled. Woo Hoo!!

Yes Tracy, you are just being pissy.................. icon_lol.gif ha ha ha, only kidding. Bet that caught you off guard, huh? Ok, sorry, just had to do it...
No, I absolutely agree with you. If you want a donut, you should be able to eat a donut. While trying to lose weight, of course we don't want to eat too many donuts. That's a given. I've been known to eat a half dozen donuts at one sitting. Yeah, can't do that anymore and don't want to. Again, all in moderation. I do not believe that we should deprive ourselves of cravings or sweets. Unless of course you are the type of person who can't stop at just one or two of these things. With some people, once they get started they don't stop. Know what I mean? No, a donut every so often sounds good to me. I can't imagine thinking that just because I'm trying to lose weight I can't eat anything but salads. Nope, wouldn't work for me. I've been eating a cookie, a small cake put up by weight watchers and popcorn each and every day now for two months (along with my 3 meals) and have lost 21 lbs now. Just can't go crazy with it, that's all. You're doing great.... Sometimes I think we just over think things.....

Hey y'all!

Tracy - I wish it was only one piece of drywall!! We picked up 8 1/2"x8' sheets. My hubby's renovating their 'new' house. He's been working on it for a little over a year now. Does that tell you what kind of shape it was in!? Of course he only has a few hours every week to work on it. But it has had to be completely stripped and redone. But it is SO nice now, or the parts that are finished are! We think it might have been an old army barracks that was moved to where it is now. It was built in the 40's and it's just this little rectangle. There's a sticker on one of the back walls that was under the old wall boards. I can't remember exactly what it says right now, something about being shipped from south Florida to Pine Castle Air Force base. Anyway, I think it is too cool!

Today has been a bad day for eating and exercising. I can't stop eating and I can't start exercising!! Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

If I thought that I couldn't eat another donut, chocolate bar, french fry or whatever for the rest of my life I would go straight to the store and buy everything I wanted and eat it all in my van!! When I quit smoking 11 years ago I told myself that I could start smoking again when I turned 60 - some days it's when I turn 50! If I thought that I could never have another cigarette it would be too overwhelming for me. I think the food stuff is along the same lines. And with eating I think anything in moderation is fine. And if you sit down and have 4 donuts for lunch you move on from there, you don't beat yourself up about it. I know that I have eaten too many calories for dinner. But that doesn't mean that I'm going to just give up. I get to start fresh tomorrow. I get another chance to make better, healthier choices. I haven't failed. We get one life here on earth - do I really want to miss all this chocolate!?! But that doesn't mean that I have to eat it all. But if I find some tonight, I'm eating it! And I'm going to feel guilty about it!

Sorry, I got a little carried away. But I am going to go look for some chocolate!

Tracy, I'm so sorry that you have to work in the morning. I'm hoping to get a bike ride in in the morning, but we'll see how that goes.

Three of the kids have bad colds. It's going to be a fun weekend! Olivia, she's our 6 yr old, was running through the house last night and fell. She hit her mouth on the arm of a chair, I just knew that she had knocked a couple of teeth out. Thank goodness she didn't. But I wouldn't be surprised if she does end up losing them, it's her two front, top teeth. Jack, our 8 yr ol, just lost a tooth last week and Olivia has been wanting a visit from the tooth fairy, she might get her wish! Sorry, rambling again. I must be lonely tonight. The house is pretty quiet (I like that!), hubby's at Andrew's house putting up drywall, Andrew and Jordan (his wife) are at a small group Bible study, William (12 yrs old) is upstairs watching wrestling, Callie (10 yrs old) is at a friend's house, Jack, Olivia, Sam and Joseph ( 4yr old twins) are watching the movie Ponyo. It must be pretty good, they're very quiet!

Tracy, congrats on your hair appointment. I hope that you're able to talk your nephew into eating at home. I don't know if I can ever eat at Olive Garden again!! I think the worst part is wondering how many calories my kids are getting. We only go out to eat when my Mom takes us so it's not very often. But still. Wow.

I guess I better go clean up the kitchen. No one else knows how to do that! I'm just going to wrap up the left overs and leave the rest for tomorrow. I hope that everyone has a great night!!

Melissa

Ok cake for tomorrow is done, I ate well, but it is almost 9:30 at night here and I just don't feel like doing 30 min on the elliptical...I'm trying really hard to get myself on there, but I just can't. I'm going to weigh myself in the morning and I am hoping for something, I really haven't felt deprived with my eating and I cut my calories quite a bit, I have stayed out of the doughnuts and cake for dessert so that is a big step. I almost feel like I'm getting a cold so I feel kinda crappy too...hmm I'll think about exercising icon_smile.gif

I know what you mean Texas about skinny people not going without, I feel that way too. I mean I get down sometimes and think the same thing do I really want to go the rest of my life eating fish and salad...but then I think I would like a LONG rest of my life so yeah, but that is really tough sometimes. The one thing I've learned in all my life struggles it that if I have that doughnut I will follow with a couple more so I just have to say no to godies right now, maybe later when I lose weight, but NO for now.

Have a great weekend girls!

never eat a donut again !!! icon_surprised.gificon_eek.gificon_surprised.gificon_eek.gificon_surprised.gif are they crazy !!! Actually since i just watch caloires I can eat donuts ALL day for every meal as long as I do not go over my calories. I have actually made a frozen pizza cut it into 100 calorie slices .you cant avoid the math or food scale when counting calories, but it is worth it. and I ate pizza the whole day. I eat lots of 100 calorie meals each day. Sometimes I eat 12 meals like with the pizza. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. (at least for me anyway.) it took years to figure out how i needed to eat to get the weight off.

Ok so at weigh in this am I was down making my this week lost 2.2 lbs, this month lost 2.2 lbs and my this year lost 2.2 lbs.

I can't weight to see my month and year totals raise and I am very happy with 2.2 lbs this week.

Kay, that's the key is knowing what you can and can't handle. I let myself go so far that I just have no self control, I know it will come back over time, but right now just need to stay away. I keep chocolate chips around because I know I can eat just a couple and it gets rid of my desire for sweet.

One thing that I have noticed (as dumb as it sounds) is that I have forgotten what full is...full to me became overfilled to uncomfortable and I need to relearn hungry and full instead of bored and engorged. One step at a time right.

I'm so glad ya'll all understood it. I guess that the general public think think diet = losing weight. I'm not on a diet, I'm just eating better, ya know? I'm doing what I always should have done which is eat better foods, cooked healthier, and having smaller portions less often of the unhealthy stuff.

Even with the donut yesterday morning I still finished my day with a total of 1115 calories. That included the donut, boiled egg, and yogurt for breakfast. Lunch was a 200 Calorie Pizza Portion and a spinach and strawberry salad. I had a snack of a cheese stick, followed by a piece of dark chocolate, and a life saver later on. A handful of grapes while I as portioning them out into snack bags. And dinner was two pieces of talipia, cauilflower, green beans, and a salad. I didn't really want the salad, but I would have been under 1000 calories with out.

I probably could have had some fruit or something else on to bring me up to the 1200, but I knew today I'd probably go over a little. So for the week it will average out. icon_smile.gif

Very funny Margie! icon_wink.gif You did make me laugh though. Sometimes I think I let comments rub me the wrong way, hers for some reason did.

With the food journal I was able to look back and see that the last donut I had was on the 22nd of January. And as I sad, they are sitting in the office every Friday. One of our sells reps go and picks them up fresh that morning and drops them off, and let me say these are the kind that you walk past and just smell all day long. So think 6 weeks between them was pretty darn good. After eating it I really didn't want another one at all.

Thrusday night after class I was heading over to my friend's house and I never eat before class. So I'm thinking about what I want to grab to eat. There was a Whatabuger on the path I would take and I was tempted to just stop there. If I had I would had gotten the Jr burger, but I was like do you really want it? And how many calories is in it, which I would have had to guess. So instead I went a little out of my way to go to Taco Bell, where I knew I could get two chicken soft tacos for 200 calories a piece.

Making better food choices is getting easier to do. icon_smile.gif

Mellisa, wow that sounds like a big project but it will be nice in the end when they get to see the finished house. I grew up with renovation going on. My parents added on to their house when we were kids. It's always fun to see the before and afters of it.

Your eating sounds like me last week with my period. You are so right though, it's just a meal and just a day, it doesn't change anything in the long run, as long as we get back on track. Did you find some chocolate? If not I'll send you a piece from my stash. HeHe.

I made it to work this morning but not at 7:45. I just couldn't talk myself into getting out of bed for it, and really there wasn't any need. I'm here now but haven't clocked in since I wanted to check the thread. I think I will clean the bathrooms and sweep the floor, then maybe save the mopping for later after class. It is suppose to rain most of next week so I'm not too worried about the floor being clean cause it will just get tracked on again anyway.

Oh and I wouldn't worry about the kid's eating out too much. I've never seen a small one actually eat everything on their plates, and as long as you are cooking healthy at home and they are getting exercise (up/out playing and such) they should be okay. I think they burn calories alot faster than we do. icon_smile.gif

Jhuntl, one thing I can say, is when you are paying attention to calories it gets you to thinking more about what foods are worth what. Plus when you know how many miles on the elliptical or treadmill it takes to work off those calories that helps too.

It is like the dark chocolate pieces for me. Oh yeah I could so eat more than one of them, easily. Who couldn't right? On the back of the bag it says a serving is 6. Okay so I could eat a serving right? But then it says that there are 210 calories in a serving. And I'm like do I really need 6 at 210 calories? Am I going to enjoy the 6th one more than I did the first? Probably not. So instead I'm like okay I will have one for 35, on bad days maybe I will two, but I never eat more than that. It's a mind game.

Now I do buy the ones that come wrapped in the foil, so I grap one and that is it. If I was breaking squares off a bar, I'd probably have a harder time eating just one.

Something else I've noticed is that when you eat healthy you get to eat more food. You can have a plate full of veggies and a serving of meat and not have a huge calorie count to go with it. When you eat unhealthy you really have to limit how much you eat because the calories add up very quickly with it.

Tesso, I'm pretty sure if I tried to eat just donuts all day I'd be like Michael on the Biggest Loser the other night. Even the thought of it makes me a little quesy. I'd miss veggies and fruit. But I get what you are saying. You can eat what ever, as long as you are paying attention to calories and servings. Alot of people say eat several smaller meals through the day, because it keeps your blood sugar level and keeps you from getting overly hungry. That's why they also say it is okay to snack as long as you snack smart, and add those calories into your totals.

Okay I really better go do something, or I'm just gonna go home, which I wouldn't mind doing either. Later this afternoon I need to portion out a few things I bought and between this evening and tomorrow I am going to try to plan my menu for next week. I'm stocked up on healthy eats for now. icon_smile.gif

Happy Saturday ladies!

JHunt, that is fantastic news that your numbers are going down! yay YOU! icon_smile.gif

I cannot keep chocolate chips handy, or peanut butter.... I have to make both very difficult to get to otherwise I dip my spoon in PB, then in chocolate chips, and repeat way too many times. lol!!!! It is good that you can have just a couple to satisfy that sweet craving!

I think it is important to not only look at calorie intake, but to also look at the fat and sugar and lack of nutrients and fibre that you get with eating some foods... So yes, technically you could eat donuts all day, every day, and remain within your calorie limit, but all that fat and sugar and likely salt as well, does not leave your system as easily as if you just have a donut every now and again! If you go above your calorie limit when eating healthy foods, well the lack of saturated and trans fats and stuff in those foods will benefit you more and will leave your body easier if you gain a bit of weight by pigging out on the good stuff!!

I'm a big snacker! I always have breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, supper, and very ocassionally an evening snack too. I find I feel better and more energetic for that!

I haven't caught Biggest Loser yet this season, I may start watching it but have found that I have cut back on my tv time dramatically so that I can get to bed and read at a sensible hour!

Have a great week everybody! I will be checking in on Wednesday with my weight and stuff! icon_biggrin.gif I'd love for it to be 16_, but we'll see....

JHunt, I missed your posted Saturday, I guess you replied while I was busy typing mine up. Congrats on the 2.2lbs. I think that is an awesome number. Yeah we all want the big numbers, but I do think that 1-2lbs is a good realistic goal. Of course we will all take larger when it happens. icon_smile.gif

Those numbers add up fast, so you won't have to wait long to see them grow.

Katherine, to me it is amazing when you eat better how much better you feel. I think when everyone tries to lose weight they cut calories, but don't always consider exactly what it is they are suppose to be eating. Think about all the diet programs that go to the extremes one way or another. Sure you can lose weight if you eat mostly protiens but what does that do to your body in the long run? Sure you can lose weight if you cut out all fats, or eat nothing but grapefruits, but again how healthy is that.

I'm a firm believer in the food prymid. We need grains, veggies, fruits, meats/protiens and yes we even need (healthy) fats.

It is interesting when you pick up a book that doesn't just tell you how to do this or that fad diet, but that tells you how your body processes food and what the different things we eat are used by our bodies. Our bodies need fat and carbs, we do use them. It is just when we eat them (or anything) in excess amounts that we gain weight or feel sluggish.

I've been watching the Biggest Loser this season, but it is the only show that I really make a point to watch. It is easier to get a few more things done when you turn off the TV.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you see the 160_'s! Maybe that will help?

This morning I was .4 away from seeing another new number in the middle. We will see if it is meant to be on Wed. Even if I don't, I'll still be happy. icon_smile.gif

I did talk my nephew to staying in, so I cooked for him and we ate healthy. I also took him to Sonic for some ice cream that night. I got the plain vanilla dish and only ate half of it. It isn't super friendly on the calories, but when you average out the last three days I'm still well with in my calorie allotment.

I also went through the clothes baskets yesterday and pulled out some more to go clothes. I actually saved out some pants that are baggie, I'm thinking I can wear them around the house. And if I don't wear them in the next month, out they will go. Now I just have the dresser left to deal with. I don't even know what is in there, my guess is more stuff I don't need since I don't seem to get alot of things out of there.

I have a class tonight, so maybe tomorrow night or Wed I'll get that done. Then I can move on to cleaning the rest of the bedroom up or somewhere else in the house. We shall see.

We are having a rainny day here. icon_sad.gif Suppose to rain most of the week, so I guess I better get use to it.

My weight is still fluctuating all over the place. Can't figure out why it's doing this. I've had it fluctuate a bit in the past but not to the extent its doing it now. My sodium intake is close to the same each day so I don't believe it's that... Who knows... Anyway, still doing great. Staying within my alloted points and I started walking again yesterday. The knee was sore this morning but I'm gonna try to work through it. I at least need to walk every day at a minimum. All in all, I'm very happy with the direction I'm going. Feeling more positive every day!!!!

Thanks Katherine. I went through physical therapy a couple of years ago. It did seem to help for a while. I need to get some injections in it now I believe. Whenever I move my knee up or down, you can feel and hear the bone grinding against the other. I tried doing an exercise video the other day where there were a fair amount of lunges. BIG mistake. Even doing the hoola hoop hurt it. (not that I was successful at it anyway) icon_lol.gif I'll figure it all out. I might just try the eliptical today and see how that goes. Where there's a will, there's a way!!! Right?

I'm doing the happy dance for ya Katherine! See we knew you could do it! Awesome job.

Margie, sometimes our bodies don't play by the rules, as long as those numbers that are jumping around are working themselves lower I wouldn't stress over it too much.

My news for the day... I'm sitting on the verge of a new number myself.

Week 8 weight - March 3 - 141.4
Week 9 weight - March 10 - 140.0

- 1.4 lbs lost this week.
- 13.6 lbs lost this year.
- 13.0 lbs to reach first goal.

As I get closer to the first number I keep thinking about what number may be my next goal. It is exciting to see the end in sight though. It is still months off, but that's okay. I'm doing the slow and steady thing. icon_smile.gif

Hello everyone!

Just a quick note, busy day - but they all are!

Congrats to everyone that's losing! y'all are doing great!!

And a big hug to those of use who are stuck or trying to lose the same pounds over again!

I gained about 4 pounds over the weekend - it was a feeding frenzy all weekend!!! And it's very slow to come off. On Feb.25th I was down to 191 1/2, on March 7th I was up to 195 1/2! This morning I was at 194 1/4. I'm headed in the right direction, but I HATE having to re-lose those same pounds. I lost all motivation for a couple of days. Thank goodness for the 1000 mile challenge, that's the only thing that has kept me moving. I'm back on track and hoping that the weight comes off quick. I so want to be below 190. Until I wrote the dates down I didn't realize that the pounds had crept back on over several days. But that was when aunt flo came to visit. She's headed out the door, thank goodness!

I have to go get some school done with the kids and some chores. Why does life have to interfer with my computer time?!

I hope everyone has a great day filled with healthy choices!

Melissa

Alright Tracy. Wow, look at you go!!! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif You have consistently lost now for weeks. That is absolutely AWESOME!! Almost in the 130's.... WOW
I just love it when we reach another level (10's) I'm getting closer to the 150's.... I'll celebrate by getting my hair cut. Hoping that will be next Monday but we shall see. You've really found what works for you and you're doing soooooo well. Keep up the great work and wow, you'll be at your goal before ya know it. Congratulations!!
Yeah, not really concerned about all the fluctuating. Just a little confused of why it's doing it all of a sudden. But as long as the scale keeps going lower each week, I'm happy. icon_lol.gif

Melissa - try not to think of what your weight was on Feb 25th. Just think of the fact that you lost weight since March 7th.... We can't go back but we can go forward and just look toward your goal weight. If I think of all the times that I've lost weight, gained it back etc. I'll get really down. Can't do that. Just take today and look forward to your positive results tomorrow. You can do this, I know you can...
Do you guys eat clementines? Man oh man, I've found some that are soooooo good. I get them at Costco (warehouse). They are the clementines from Israel. I've tried others that were from other places and let me tell ya, they don't compare whatsoever to the ones from Israel. They are so sweet and juicy. Also, the honeydews have been wonderful. I don't know how many of you have a Costco near you but I thought I'd share.

Melissa, we have all had gains and loses and gains and loses. The 160s were that for me. I swear I lost those atleast 2 times, if not a third over the last few years. Keep at it and you'll get there. And we all waiver from time to time with motivation. I'm glad to see you jump back in and finding it again!

Margie, I was hoping I'd had lost another .2 so I'd hit the 130s, but when that didn't happen I just said, "It's okay, I'll be there next week." And I'm pretty sure I will. icon_smile.gif I've lost every week this year, just had those two where I lost very small numbers. I think what was happening there was that I wasn't paying as close attention to food measurements. The last three weeks I have weighted everything out, so I know exactly how many calories I'm eating. It think that is really what has made the difference in me saying above -1lb the last 4 weeks.

I've got to go to my mom's this evening so I'm going to get her to take my measurements. I took them two months ago, so it's a good time to do it again.

I told her she needed to get busy on hemming my pants or I'd pass that size up and wouldn't need them. Hehe.

I have a hair appointment this Friday. I haven't been since the first of Dec, so I'm way over due. That's the only problem about coloring your hair, it shows really fast when you need to get it done again. icon_smile.gif

Wow, you sure have had a loss each week. That is really awesome. Yeah, weighing your food out does sound like it's really worked for you. I try to do that all the time. My hubby just looks at me and laughs. But ya know what? I laugh right back at him and remind him that we started watching what we eat on the same day and I've lost 22 pounds and he's lost 11. icon_lol.gif hee hee, I've got a little mean streak in me, don't I?
Oh boy, can I relate to hair coloring. I've got this gray thing going on and I'm having to color every 3-4 weeks. I can't afford to go in that often to get it done professionally so I do it myself. What a pain!! I'm so tempted at times to just let it go gray. Some women really look great with gray hair but I don't think I'm gonna be one of them. icon_rolleyes.gif

Tracy, congrats on another successful week!!!!!!!!

Melissa, it's a new week right? icon_smile.gif Aunt Flo can really wreak havoc with women's weight, and I'm happy to hear you're still doing the 1000 mile challenge! You'll get below 190 before you know it, I KNOW you will! icon_smile.gif

I buy whatever fruit and veggies I can at Costco but I have no clue where any of it comes from. LOL! I'll have to remember that, but I have a feeling that we don't have the same produce as Costco carries in the US. I buy the already cut up tri-packs of cauliflower, carrots and broccoli all the time since it is a huge time saver for my raw veggie servings! icon_smile.gif

I have decided that once I get to 165 I'm getting my hair colored, and after I run my half marathon in May I'm getting a tattoo! One reward for continued weight loss, another for a huge running accomplishment! I did my first set of hill repeats today, I ran up a 0.5 km hill three times and was so happy that I kept my pace below 7 minutes a kilometer! I have to say, running down the hill was like being at a spa, it was such a relief to run back down after the difficult run up! lol!

Margie, I think people look great gray! We are all our own worst critics after all, but we also have to feel good about ourselves and sometimes coloring hair is the key to helping out in that department! icon_smile.gif

I don't color my hair permanently because I can't afford to get it re-done, but every now and then I go dark...

Katherine - on the front of the bags of clementines, it says where it is from. These are just so good, it's unreal!!

I don't have a Costco here. icon_sad.gif Sniffle sniffle. Sam's here tends to have really good fruits, but the problem is I don't need a big bag of apples or a big container of strawberries. It is really hard for me to buy food products in there since it is just one eating at my house.

I do want to go to Sam's though. I want some of those 2oz cups. I saved quite a few from take out places (since I used them in class) but I think now I'll have enough reasons to spend $40 on of them.

My uncle commented yesterday that he had never seen anyone label their food with how many calories was in it. I was having tuna salad for lunch and had written how many calories on top of the container. I was like how else are you suppose to know what you are eating? I didn't tell him I weighed the onion, pickles and mircle whip light out when I added it. I'm sure he would really think I'm weird. I also didn't want ot say oh, and there are bags of fruit and veggies in my fridge with the calories written on the individual serving amounts.

Gotta do what ya gotta do, huh? And once you get use to it, it really doesn't feel to me like it takes me much more time. My nephew was telling me the other night I should write down my recipes. And I was like well they aren't really recipes and they aren't anything knew. But after the last couple of nights I have realised that I could start myself a calorie cook book. Yeah I like trying new recipes, but I'm tired of finding tons of them online with no nutrutional facts, so most of what I cook is things that are just thrown together. A little of this and a little of that. Though I do weight this and count that now. I thought well you can make your own recipes with your amounts that you use and now the numbers already done for you and you don't have to do it every time you make that. We will see.

You'll would be proud of me. That last three nights I have washed all the dirty dishes in my kitchen (this is a weakness of mine) and have gone to bed with breakfast and lunch ready to go. It has been nice the last three mornings to just grab it and bring it with me instead of having to stand there and think about what has what calories and adding it up to make sure it is enough food, but not too much.

I've been coloring my hair since I was 16. It started with hightlights, but then of course I went to all over colors. I usually stick to brown and auburns nothing too wild, though I was red red for a while in there. I've had blond highlights but never went all blond and never would. It wouldn't look good on me, and talk about roots! I just like the change though. I have drak brown hair natually, and with my brown eyes sometimes I felt 'boring'.

I almost always get the do it yourself stuff. In the last two years it has only been professionally colored/highlighted twice, both times was for my birthday. I was going to go back to the bottle color I was using, but this last time she colored it light brown, and I like it. I can't afford that expense every 6 weeks, but I feel like treating myself again, I mean I've lost over 13lbs since the last highlights.

Katherine, I said years ago if I ever got to my goal weight I'd get a another tattoo. Some times I go back and forth on it (mostly because I know my parents will freak out, again) but in the end if I can figure out an area that wouldn't be effected by a pregancy I may do it. I was thinking about it this week actually and had told myself I'd get to my goal weight and if I can keep it off for a certain lenght of time I'd really consider it. I think I know in my head that I can get to the goal but that I know it won't be the end of the journey and that I will have to work at keeping the weight off. To me those are the best kind of tattoos though, the ones that mean something personal.

I can't wait for you to run your half marthon in May! I'm excited for you. icon_smile.gif

Tracy - I've always pretty much used Loreal Excellence Creme for coloring my hair. However, over the last 5-6 months I've been using Nice N Easy color blend. I've had so many people tell me that it looks like I had my hair high lighted. I really like it.

I have used Nice and Easy the last two or three years. The one I use last was 110 I think, and it was either 111 or 112 before. I've gotten many a compliments on it. When I used it I had been asked if it was my natural color.

The highlights I have now are more on the bolder side, which is what I wanted at the time. These are a light brown almost a dark blond on brown hair.
