Lounge By TexasSugar Updated 28 Oct 2011 , 1:50pm by TexasSugar
YEA TRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Give youself a hug from me!!
Headed out the door. I'll check in on y'all later!!!!
Melissa
Margie, don't worry, I'm counting on you to give me a run for my money to the finish line. ![]()
KH, I hadn't looked at it that way. But you are so right!
Melissa, thank you for the hug!
Okay, I'm going back up to see what I missed since yesterday...
Melissa, yea for that .5 lbs. Those numbers sure do add up fast huh?
I've tried so many times to get up in the AM to work out, but I have just decided that I am not and never will be a morning person. I do understand how it is easier to get it out of the way earlier, and you are less likely to put it off or skip it that way, but my brain and body just don't function that well first thing. I've also heard people say you shouldn't exercise at night, because then you won't sleep. That doesn't seem to be a problem for me either, since I get get off the ellipitical and be in bed and half way asleep 30 mins later.
I hope you can work out the getting up in the morning and getting to the gym. I do like that you can get help to make sure you are doing things correctly there.
Up until my grandma had her hip replacement surgery she helped with the funerals at church. They would split it up and for 3 months someone would be in charge of getting everything together, bought and ready for them. I totally understand how much work it can be and glad you get to have help cleaning today.
Tesso, I'm really impressed you can go 2 and a half weeks with out carbs. If that was me I'd cave and make a huge pan of mac and cheese!
We are condition to eat everything on our plates, even if we know we shouldn't. I think it is great that you knew you were full and were able to say, even though I want these and won't get to eat them again for a while, I'm going to pass. That's a huge step and you will find you can apply it to other times, like when you are out to eat.
It really is okay if we don't eat all the food on our plate. When I baby sat my friends daughter I'd find myself nibbling off her plate, especially when she was done. Because we can't throw away that piece of chicken or hot dog or what ever right? Then you start thinking about all those things and how they add up.
My nephew loves that, now when I can't finish all of something, I will give it to him, if he wants it. He'll be 15 in May and is already right over 6' so he can use the extra calories. Plus it will gives me a way to treat myself a little with out having to go over board, because he will eat the rest.
He thinks it is funny that I say when around a toddler we tend to clean their plates, and when you are around a teenage, they clean yours.
Good luck with your sister's cake! I bought stuff to attempt sugar work last summer and it is still all in the plastic container it went in when I got home. I keep thinking how I need to pull it out, get my brother to build me the warming box and try it sometime.
Last night I started trying to clean my house. I went and stood in my cake room for a full 5 mins trying to figure out the best way to tackle all my cake stuff. Between it and all my kitchen stuff, I just have too much stuff. But I don't want to get rid of any of it, ya know? Sigh.
Oh and ya'll know that snow we had all afternoon yesterday? Well today it is pretty blue skies and sun! The temps are only in the 40s, but it is still very pretty to look out at. Looks like spring, until you step out in it with our your coat on.
I'm having one of those it sucks to be a woman days. I'm sitting here feeling icky and waiting for my stupid period. I wish it would just hurry up and start so I can get over it faster. But no I have felt icky since yesterday afternoon and I have class tonight, so that's just an added bonus.
How is everyone doing today?
The older I get the more symptoms I get before my period, when I was a teenager it used to just sneak up on me LOL.
I only have mine once every 3 months or so though, so I guess I can live with it! I feel for ya though, I get super icky feeling before during and immediately following. the older I get the worse it gets too!
I'm doin alright today, been watchin what I'm eating but haven't been writing it down (couldn't find a pen or anything)
been busy baking 3 sheet cakes and over 200 mini cupcakes and 50 mod mom cookies all due sat. and sunday and have a meeting tonight at 6 at church so I'll have to decorate the cookies when I get home once kids are in bed!
Sometimes I wish I didn't have ANY orders at all!! I could really use some down time from teh baking and decorating
Mine vary from month to month. The past few days I have just felt drained, and usually feel the same after. I've been having what I call crampies, which is just that weird feeling you get in your tummy when you know you are starting soon. Not full cramp but twings to remind you that maybe, any time, you could start your period.
Wow that is a lot to bake! Hope you get it done and get some sleep in the process!
Oh and let me just add....
While in the last few weeks I can get through the day with out snacking, for the last two hours I have just wanted something, anything, preferably something salty. I could eat a whole bag of chips right now and not really care. Well of course I'd care, but you know what I mean?
Sigh. I just pulled a 100 calorie snack pack out of the drawer behind me. I guess it will have to hold me for a while. I won't have time to eat dinner before class but I might have to grab a cheese stick on the way out there door.
In my head I'm reminding myself, good days/bad days, and that this stupid I want to eat everything feeling will pass.
Okay, I'm done ranting. Hope everyone has a good evening!
hey y'all
Tracy, I'm sorry you're feeling yucky. I hope that you feel better.
KH, I know what you mean about wishing for no orders. I have an anniversary cake coming up and I really don't want to do it. I don't think I'll be taking any more orders. I think I only want to make cakes when I want to. Maybe I'm just feeling tired and overwhelmed. But I really am going to step away from it for a while.
Today hasn't been a very good food day. I haven't written anything down since breakfast, sorry!! I got too hungry and ate about 700 calories! Dinner has been two slices of bread!! I was going to have a salad, but I forgot that's what I wanted!
Today was pretty good exercise-wise. I got 12 miles in on my bike, I had to set up the fellowship hall at church-we're having Homecoming and dinner on the grounds this Sunday. So that was alot of moving tables and chairs. I did my kettlebell exercises and I did a couple of things on my son's weight machine. But I really expect to gain weight tomorrow. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for that. And tomorrow is the day I take my measurements - I really hope that has some good numbers!!
Ok, the kids are getting loud!!! I can't think, I have a hard enought time when everything is quiet!! I'll try to get back on after the kids are in bed!
Melissa
Well I'm not longer waiting, and still craving something salty today. I ended up having some pop corn this afternoon to help with that.
Class went well last night, and I went to bed early, which was a plus. Woke up feeling icky this morning and that stayed with me until about lunch time. Then after lunch I had to fight to keep myself awake. It's a rainy day and the phones are quiet.
I've already decided this evening I'm just chilly, even though I know there are things I should be doing. My body feels drained and I just don't have the energy to convince it, it shouldn't be.
Melissa, remember it isn't one bad days of eating that is going to keep you from losing anything. With all that exercise you are doing, you probably canceled out those extra calories easily.
Hope everyone has a good weekend! HUGS Monkey Sisters!
Hello everyone! I hope you've all had a great Friday.
Tracy, I hope that you're resting this evening. I know it's hard to just rest sometimes - especially when there are things to get done. But your body is telling you 'hey! I'm worn out, let's just relax for a while!'.
I'm taking the evening off from the weight machine and my kettlebell. Maybe. I'm not sure if I can skip the kettlebell. I might have to do a few of the exercises. And I want to do my ab work. Maybe I'll just skip tonight and double up tomorrow. I know you're supposed to let your muscles rest but I really don't want to do that. I don't over work anything. At least I don't think that I do!
I hope that y'all have a good, peaceful, restful night!
Melissa
Melissa, did you take a night off from the kettlebell?
My weekend was pretty uneventful. Friday evening I went home and slept on and off until it was time to go to bed. I was just completely drained. And ended up the day with more calories than I had had in a while. I did better eating Saturday and Sunday, so hopefully that wanting to eat and salt craving part of Aunt Flo's visit is over. It was worse this time around and I so didn't like it.
I went to Walmart Saturday night to get a few items that I need and I did pick up a kettlebell. It is of course still sitting in the bag on my coffee table. I need to get back into routine of working out again. I won't even bother with an excuse, I just haven't done it as much as I should be.
I'm looking at the calendar thinking, okay new day, new week, new month, and wondering what it has in store. Hopefully something good, maybe something different, and who knows maybe a little excitement will come. I'm getting tired of the same thing every week and weekend. I need something new to happen.
It is a cold rainy day here, but the temps are suppose to be in the 50s the next couple of days and 60s the rest of the week. It's time for spring now, right? Please, please tell me it is time for spring.
So how is everyone else doing?
Hey Tracy,
I really don't remember if I skipped the kettlebells or not!! I have a horrible memory. I hope that you like yours. How much does it weigh? I still really like using mine. Just try a couple of exercises and see what you think. You don't have to commit to a whole routine. Remember, just move. Even a little to get started again.
I think I must be a 'pasta-holic'! I ate so much this weekend and it was showing on the scale. I am keeping a food journal today. I never really ate a meal over the weekend. I was just cooking and munching.
I'll write more later, I'm headed out to the store with one of my girls! I found another exercise 'toy' that I want. Who needs to pay the power bill!?
Melissa
The kettlebell I got is 10lbs. I'll probably do something with it tonight. I have 5lb weights I was using for arm exercises, but they have been collecting dust this last week or so.
I also looked at some of those arm/leg weights, I might get some of those when I do the leg lifts and such.
I've been in a pasta mood myself. Last week I cooked some spaghetti noddles. I cooked 3oz of dry noodles, which was 1 and a half servings. Did you know that once cooked they weight 3 times more? I split them up until three 'servings' that way instead of 200 calories they were only 100 calories. I used them twice with my turkey meatballs, then another night I made a sorta stir fry dish with green onions, bell pepper, and brocolli. I added precooked chicken breast, a dash of soy sauce, a little bit of a stir fry sauce and then the noodles. It turned out good and wasn't bad on the calorie count.
This week I've thought about making some baked zita. I'm thinking of adding mushrooms and maybe some zuchini, that way I can use less noodles but still have it filling. Of course then I have to figure out what to do with the rest of the tomato sauce.
And let me just ask, do you know how long it takes one person to eat a head of cabbage? A small head at that? Apparently forever! I have had six servings of it in the last week, and still have more in my veggie stash. I also still have some cauliflower I need to eat up. Sigh. I like fresh veggies, but I sorta get tired of the same thing over and over.
hi guys.. i am back. I never even got to work on my sisters cake !!! I ended up house/dog sitting for my niece this past weekend. I am covered in bruises!! Great Dane a whopping 165 pounds thinks she is a lap dog. and that i would not notice her sneaking onto the couch when she jumped on me !! Yes, i was lying on it at the time. DH thinks the paw print bruises on my arms, legs and stomach are funny. she also has waimainer? spelling is atrocious i know.. she only weighs 100 pounds and likes to pretend to be a lap dog too.
i did have fun and i stayed within calories all weekend !!!
Totally shocking !!!! off to read and catch up on posts.
Good morning!
Tesso - I can't imagine how bruised up you must be, if my little chihuahua hits me just right it hurts. I can't imagine how bad it must be to have a great Dane or weimaraner (I had to look up the spelling!) jumping up on you! OUCH!!
Tracy did you try the kettlebell? Did yours come with some exercises? Mine had some, but I found a couple more online. Actually I found a lot more, but only a couple that I'm doing!
I was pretty good on the food yesterday - until I decided to put the leftover coconut cake in a smaller container!!!!!!!! Why don't I have any self control!?! But my weight was down this morning, so I am re-losing the 2 1/2 pounds that I put on over the weekend. And, I'm supposed to start my period this weekend. This will be a bad week for weighing. Maybe it will motivate me to work harder and really watch my food. And I am SO glad that The Biggest Loser is back on tonight, I really like that show. Although I think they're adding too much drama to it. Show me the exercises, the food, stuff that can help me. I have enought drama in my life!
I'm going to go fix the kids some oatmeal pancakes for breakfast. I'll report back in later - if I can get custody of the computer from my kiddos!
Melissa
Tesso, those kinds of dogs should not be house dogs! My brother had a great dane and before she was even full grown stood higher than me. They seem to be overly friendly dogs, too friendly actually. I had to go over to feed her one day for him, and she would raise up from behind and put her paws on you and if you weren't braced for it could knock you down. Then she decided to give me a "kiss" on the cheek and I swear I thought I was going to have a bruise from where her nose hit me. That HURT!! Needless to say I never went in the yard with her again.
Congrats on staying on track with the calories! Weekends tend to be the hardest for me to keep on track.
Melissa, the kettlebell I got is a Danskin brand and did come with a paper that had like 5 exercises on it and a dvd that I think has three work outs on it. I haven't put it in yet. I thought about it last night but by the time I got dinner cooked, the kitchen cleaned from ignoring it too long, and banana bread for the office baked I was tired.
I did unwrap it and do one exercise with it though. I held it infront of my body with both hands and left it to chest high. I think I may like it. I'm thinking the thicker 'handle' will either be good or bad for me. One of my problem with hand weights is that with my hands closed up tight like that it bothers them. I think I either have carpel tunnel or the begings of arthritis, since certain things really bother my hands. Since the handle on it seems wider then I don't think my hands are going to be closed so tight and might make it more comfortable.
Maybe I'll look up some exercises for it online and then while watching Biggest Loser play with it. Good time right since I know I'll be planted in front of the tv. I made the mistake of watching American Idol last week, and now tonight while BL is on I'm going to be wondering what is going on in it. But I'd rather watch BL. I planned my class schedule around BL, how bad is that? I refuse to teach on a Tuesday night until it is over.
I'm not sure what my weight is going to do this week. I'm coming off that big number (for me) last week, the couple of days where I let the salt carvings get the better of me, and Aunt Flo is on her way out the door. I have found that the week after her visit tend to be wild cards on the weight loss scale. I'm okay with it though, because I did have a good loss last week and hit that mile stone. I'm happy with where I am now. I've worked hard, and mostly have stayed on track. Of course I can make improvements, but I'm about to end the 8th week and am still losing weight.
Last week I decided I would make a serious effort not to buy anymore clothes for a while. Mostly because I am in between 10s and 12s and thinking maybe could be sitting in between medium and large. I have plenty of clothes that fit well right now, so not shopping is a smart move (if I can hold off on it.)
I'm figuring before I get done that I will have to get rid of atleast half the clothes in my closet. Kinda sad since there are some things in there I really like (and a few things I never even wore), but then kinda fun to think about going shopping. Guess I need to save money for that.
Not sure what I will do with all the clothes. I still have all the 16s and 18s packed up in boxes in an extra closet. I guess I will either finally get around to a garage sell, donate them somewhere or craigs list them. Too bad there isn't a I'm losing weight clothes exchange place.
Of course I'm on the shorter side and since most of my pants have to be hemmed they won't just fit anyone.
Well after that novel I guess I better get off here and go sweep the office. If only people would learn to wipe their feet off on the matts outside. Sigh. Hope everyone is having a good morning!
hi guys... okay...
tex there is a weight losing clothes exchange place !!!! i will search through my favs and find it for you.
I thought i would post it here. we were talking about egg roll wrappers i n your other post. do you know you can make chips out of them !!! yup, use a cooking spray like pam butter spray. 0 calories. then get some cheese sprinkle like you use on popcorn. 0 calories, you spray the baking sheet, place wonton wrapers on it, then spray wrapers, then sprinkel a little salt and cheese flavoring on top and bake at 400 for about 5 minutes. and presto. kick butt chips !!! I make them all the time. my favorite meal is the fat free 40 calorie hotdogs, hot dog chili at 10 cal a tablespoon, i use the 45 calorie bread instead hot dog buns, add a sprinkle of cheese, with home made wonton chips. and ta-daa a great very low fat/calorie meal.
i found the sites. I had two in favs.
http://www.voy.com/64221/
http://www.weightlossclothingexchange.blogspot.com/
i really like the second one because they have pics of the clothes.
happy shopping/exchanging ![]()
Gee Tracy, I was going to have you send me all your old clothes! That's right where I am, a 16 or 18. But I am curious to check out those sites, thanks Tesso. And I want to try the wonton recipe. I have some wrappers in the fridge I hope they're still good!
I made the banana oatmeal pancakes for breakfast yesterday. They were very yummy. Alot like banana bread. And probably very low cal - oats, lowfat milk, banana, 2TB sugar, salt, baking powder. I'll have to figure out how many calories they have. Definetly something I would like to keep on hand. They have some flour in them, too. I want to try them with whole wheat flour. And maybe add some wheat germ. They could be really good for you. I like them without syrup. I think they're sweet enough. Or maybe just a little powdered sugar. I'm going to make them again this morning. And I'm going to make a batch with applesauce instead of the bananas.
My weight was up a little this morning - rats. And I only got a 6 1/2 mile bike ride in. I'm going to have to really push myself today. I'm tired and achy. I think I'll go eat a rice cake with a little peanutbutter and then do my kettle bell exercises.
I hope that everyone has a great morning!
Melissa
Tesso, well it is good to know there are sites like that. My only thing is that I have learned that clothes to me are something that need to be tried on. Just because it looks good on the hanger...
I have had chips like that, I was thinking this resturaunt fried them, but it is cool to know that you don't have to fry them up to get them in chip form.
Mellisa, my 16/18s have been boxed up for a while so I can't honestly remember what I have in there. I really need to pull them out and see what all is in there. I do still have some of the larger size skirts that are still in my closet that I thought I'd get my mom to make smaller, but right now I'm not sure.
Me and my mom were talking about clothes last night. She's a size behind me, but really isn't aiming to get as small as I'd like to be. Trading pants with her, or anyone is going to be a problem for me since 95% of what I have is hemmed. Apparently I have shorter legs than some. Even petite or short pants have to be hemmed. I'm hoping alot of the large shirts I have I'll be able to keep, but we will see.
Oh so I was over at my mom's so she could pin up all the size 10 pants I have so I can start wearing them. I have a pair of Danskin, work out/comfy pants, and they were a large. And I was showing her how it was lose around the waist. She tells me to go look in her closet cause she thought she bought a medium pair. I guess that was in her opptomistic moment. She has a large pair already, but bought the smaller size because she really liked them and thought maybe. So I try on the medium and they fit me, so we are trading and she'll have two large pairs cause she doesn't think she will get any smaller.
I also offered her another pair of gray ones I had, because once hemmed they won't work for her. And I'd rather her be able to wear them for how ever long than me just where them for a short period (hopefully), especially since I can get into the medium versions with out them looking bad.
Those pants use to be my staples and don't get me wrong when I'm at home I still like to put them on, but I try not to make them my 'uniform' any more. I told her it was kinda nice to be able to wear jeans all day and they not be uncomfortable.
So after trying on the medium pants, that helped reinforce the no shopping for clothes. Lets hope I can stick with it, especially when the cute spring clothes come out.
Of course I was thinking this morning I need to keep an eye out for a black polo shirt. I have two XLs and one L, but I've had them for a couple of years so they are getting faded. The black polo is for the uniform for Michaels, though, so I'm looking at it as a need buy, not a oh that's really cute buy. That's logical right?
Melissa, I posted a good blueberry oatmeal pancake recipe I think back at the end of Jan or being of Feb. I liked it and the calorie count wasn't outragious. If you can't find the link for it among all out posts, let me know and I'll look the link up again.
Week 7 weight - Feb 24 - 143.0
Week 8 weight - March 3 - 141.4
- 1.6 lbs lost this week.
- 12.2 lbs lost this year.
- 14.4 lbs to reach first goal.
I said at the beginning of the year I wanted to lose atleast 6lbs a month. I finished Jan at - 5.8lbs and then this month at - 6.4, so it averaged out for me. I'm right on track. Pretty cool huh?
I really didn't expect to lose that much this week, but I will take it, you know. Maybe this is a sign I'm doing something right. ![]()
Hey everyone. Once again, I apologize for not being on much the past week. It's been another really busy one.
Great job Tracy!!!!! You are without a doubt on a roll.....Yeah, I'd say you are really doing something right!!
I decided to do my weigh ins on Wed. now with the rest of my group here, sooooo, here we go...
Jan 4th, ![]()
183.0
March 3rd
162.4
Long way to go but so far a loss of 20.6 lbs. All in all pretty happy with that. My weight has really started fluctuating. More so than ever before. Therefore, once a week is all I'm weighing. Too frustrating trying to figure it out when I weigh more often than that.
I wanted to ask if any of you have tried the Ruby Tuesdays new line of meals under 550 calories? Hubby and I went there last week and we got the Asiago peppercorn steak. It was really, really good. It comes with some potatoes and veggies and has a total of 390 calories and 8 W.W. points. It's just the right amount of food. I didn't have a sald with the meal but hubby did and he said that he was totally full when we left. So, thought I would pass that along.
Ok, have a great day everyone. Think positive......
Awesome Margie!!! Wow, I'm so impressed and proud of you!
We don't have a Ruby Tuesday's here, but I'm glad that more and more resturaunts are doing this. I really wish they would put calories on the menu's.
Aww, thanks so much Tracy.... I'm so sorry that you don't have a Ruby Tuesday's in your area. That dinner really was good and pretty low in calories. Yeah, I think that a lot of restaurants are starting to try to serve dishes that are lower in calories and healthier. I so welcome that and I know you do too. It's also been super great to go into a restaurant and it be totally smoke free. Yep, looks like restaurants may just be going in the right direction now.
Ya know, I bought quite a few W.W. Smart Ones dinners when they were on sale a few weeks ago. I've got to say that in comparison with the Lean Cuisine dinners, they aren't very good. I really don't think the Smart Ones even come close to the Lean Cuisine. Just my observation but was wondering what you think? Which ones are your favorite? I love the Country Herb dinner by Healthy Choice. That's probably my favorite.
So, what are you guys having for dinner tonight? I've got to get busy and try out some new recipes that I got from the W.W. site. I've just been so busy and haven't even had the time to get to the store and get the ingredients that I need. Maybe this week end.. I'll post any that come out good.
I'm suppose to take my nephew out to eat this weekend and he wanted to go to Olive Garden. Want a quick way to depress yourself?
http://www.olivegarden.com/menus/garden_fare/nutrition_information.asp
And our other favorite resturant?
http://carinos.com/content/documents/Nutritional-Info-Guide.pdf
Some of those calories in dishes are 3/4ths to all or over of my calorie allotment for the day, THE WHOLE DAY! That is just crazy. Even if you split the dinner in half some of them are still way to many calories for anyone.
I couldn't find our favorite mexican place's nutritional info online. Which is probably a good thing because I probably wouldn't want to go in there again.
Right now I think I'll ask my nephew if he would rather stay at home and have me cook for him. He likes my cooking and I'm thinking he'd get a kick out of KH's egg roll wrappers ideas.
I think I probably buy more of the LC meals than the others. I really like the Linguini Carbonara and the Saulsbury Steak (I'm sure I totally mispelled them). They are two I always get when I go. I like some of the Healthy Choice ones too. I probably buy less of the Smart Ones. I usually eat them at lunch and pair them with a salad. For dinner I'm trying to cook more, beacuse I don't want to eat just frozen meals.
Tonight I think it will either be chicken or tuna, and since the tuna would be faster to make, that is winning right now. I kinda need to go to Walmart since I need fresh lettuce. If I don't go tonight I won't be able to go again until Friday. I do have spinach though, so I can always use that for salad. Or course now that I think about the spinach, and omelet sounds good. Hmmm....
Oh yeah. It's kinda like sticker shock when you go to buy a new car. WOW!! It truly is amazing how many calories are in foods that seem so simple. It's like what in the world did they add to this food to make it so high in calories and fat????? Unreal!!
Yeah, I eat a frozen meal for lunch about 3 days a week. I've never eaten one at dinner time. I've got some of the Lean Cuisine meals that you mentioned in the freezer. Several I've not tried yet. Never tried the Salsbury steak one so I'll have to pick one up next time I'm at Walmart. Actually, that will probably be tomorrow if this rain ever stops. So what did you decide for dinner? I absolutely love spinich. My only problem with it is that I wash it and wash it and it still feels like it's got little specks of dirt in it. Not sure why that is. I love the canned spinich but that's so darned full of sodium. Hmmm, wonder if they have no salt spinich in the can? But then again, I'm trying to get away from a lot of canned food. Hmmm, what to do, what to do.
Margie, what is really scary, one of the kid's meals at Carino's was over 1300 calories. For a kid's meal!!
Have you looked at the frozen spinach for the sodium content? It is pretty cheap.
I found the chicken 200 calorie pizza portions at Walmart this week. They didn't have any of the cheese and tomato one in stock, so I'll have to look for those next time. The pepperoni ones were okay to me. I mean they were good, but I'm not a big pepperoni fan, so I would probably stick with the cheese personally. I'm curious about the chicken and pepper one. Maybe that is what I will have for lunch tomorrow.
When it comes to the frozen meals I'll look at which ones look good on the box (yeah I know they don't look that good when cooked) but you have to start with something. Then I read what it is, and if it still sounds good I'll get it. If I try it and don't like it, then I usually remember not to buy it again. There are some that I just didn't care for, even in the LC brand.
You know how when you start a project and you get half way through it and realise that maybe you really shouldn't have started it? Well that was me last night. I decided while I was listening to American Idol I would pull clothes out of the closet and try them on. After I got started I figured out I wasn't in the best mood to do it.
I've been going back and forth trying to decide when I wanted to do this, because I knew I'd have to do it again in the next few months. I realised I haven't gone through any of my clothes since I lost the original 25lbs. There were actually many extra large shirts tucked into the back of the closet, so I guess they were the inbetween stuff before.
It was going pretty good, until I realised that the to go pile was actually getting larger than the keep pile, and that got even worse as I got further back in the closet since the first stuff I went though is newer or clothes I wear often.
I know this is a good thing, it means that I have lost more weight, enough weight to really make a differnce in how clothes fit me and look on me. It is so much better than having to go through clothes that are too small because you gained weight, ya know?
But as I looked at the stuff going into the to go pile I was like this is ridicules, look at all these clothes you bought that you can't wear. There are many that still have the price tags on them, and others I wore maybe once or twice. I know I can sell them and make some money, but I still wasted alot of money on clothes.
And I think that is what really got to me, the waste of it. Plus there were some cute tops that I really liked that went into the pile. Now there were a few that were just huge on me. Those were easier to take when it came to putting them in the to go. It was the ones that didn't look bad, but didn't look good either, ya know what I mean, that bugged me more. I do still have several I need to retry on, and get someone elses opinion on.
I was overly tired last night, didn't get much sleep the night before, so instead of going through the clothes I should have just gone to bed. But I did it, and I still have other clothes to go through. I have everything in/on my dresser and two large clothes baskets of clothes left.
I guess the good news is that I now have more closet space, so instead of having clothes piled in the clothes baskets cause I was out of room for them, they will be able to be hung up. And I will know that what I get out of the closet I can wear. Over the last couple of months I've pulled stuff out to wear only to have to choose again since it was too big.
I haven't talked to my mother yet, since it was late when I finished and apparently she isn't home this morning. I need to find out what size she is wearing now, so I can go through it and pull out what she might want. I have another couple of tops I am going to see if either of my SILs can wear them. Maybe I can find good homes for it.
Melissa, when I get done we will have to talk and see if I have anything you might like.
The other good thing that came from cleaning the closet out, was that it encourages me even more to not to shop for clothes right now. I still have plenty to wear, so I'm not in need of anything. I can realistically wait until I get to my goal before I go shopping for fun. That should only be about 3 months from now.
That said I do think that I will have to make some new bra purchases in the near future. I have noticed that the ones I have are fitting different in the cups. If I can go smaller I won't buy a bunch of them, just enough to get me by for a while. I never really lost any of my boobs in the first -25lbs, but in these last -15 I did. And everybody says that's the first place you lose. Go figure for me huh?
So how was everyone elses evenings?
Hello Everyone!
Tracy - don't worry about me and your clothes. Right now I feel depressed and HUGE!!! I'm supposed to start my period this weekend and I haven't been on my bike ride or done any exercise today. We found out that my son and his wife missed the deadline to file for homestead exemption for this year and their property taxes are $2500.00!!!! Poor kids. I can't imagine having to come up with that kind of money. Thank goodness for income tax refunds and wedding gifts! So I feel pretty lousy today. I need to go take a nap!
I know exactly what you mean about getting in the middle of a job and realizing that it was a BIG mistake. That happened yesterday, the boys froze the Wii and that led to me dusting shelves, washing stuff and rearranging stuff! Took a ton of time and wasn't even on my 'to-do' list. Sometimes I'll decide to clean out a closet, get half way through it and want to close the door and walk away.
Ok, just sharing with y'all has made me feel better. I'm going to go finish putting my laundry away and then do some exercises! Thanks for listening!
Melissa
Hey everyone...this thread is so long that I only read it here and there so I don't know if anyone else is quite as bad off as I let myself get. First let me say I run an at-home bakery in Michigan, I am married and the mother of four wonderful kids. We choose to homeschool because even though we live in a very nice and "safe" city, there have been a gun threats at the school this year it happened twice back to back in the junior high my kids attended so we got out ducks in a row and started homeschooling...too scary. The police said they were hoaxes, but the school was in lockdown and for the parents it was tense.
I was overweight after the birth of my last daughter 5 years ago (I got my tubes tied the same day) and weighed 160 lbs. Over the past five years it has crept up until I stopped weighing myself until last August and I was at my very highest...254 (it hurts to say that). I worked hard and lost 25 pounds then my husband was laid off among other things and gained some back. Now I am determined to get it off I know it's a long hard road, but I think you guys are just the support I need. I started back into exercise and calorie counting on Monday and my weigh in on Monday was 142.5. I weighed this am and was 141 so I am on the right track. I weight train every other day on our home machine and elliptical every other day for 30 minutes so hopefully that will help. I keep a journal on Liveright's website and it tracks what I eat, that's the plan I had last time I got it off.
I hope to get to know you all better in the future and work together to get where we need to be!!
