I am a hobby baker. It started because i just couldn't afford the prices of cakes and i wanted to make them for my children. i bake for family and friends. Would love to be good enought to do it full time, at least in the summer when i am not working.
Well.... I have managed many fast food restaurants, worked with donuts, waited tables, and worked at a dry cleaners. I get bored with jobs way too quickly. I went to Johnson and Wales to get my degree in pastry arts and worked at multiple bakeries. However the bakeries I've worked at were all about the $ and wouldn't put a limit on how many orders we took so I would have to do 5 wedding cakes plus regular cake orders on a Saturday which I just didn't feel was right since I couldn't take the time to do them the way they should have been done.
Currently I am basically a SAHM. I plan on going back to school soon to go into nursing to hopefully work one day in a pediatric unit. Children and cake have always been where my heart is.
Director of Sales for a hotel, and mommy of a 5 y/o girl and 3 y/o boy. I bake nearly every day, but my stuff's not pretty like everyone elses. I can make BC roses like nobody's business, and that's about it!
I am the billing manager for a home health software company that oversees the billing for nearly 13 different home health agencies...as well as being a girl scout troop leader and a mother of two - 8 year old girl and an 11 year old boy. I get my sanity from baking.

Administrative assistant for a major transportation company in Orlando. I am the mother of 4 children, 27, 25, 22, 15 and 3 grandchildren, 5, 1 1/2, and 1. I love to bake and because I loved baking, I decided I wanted to learn to decorate the things I baked, so I took the Wilton classes 4 years ao when I lived in Texas.......I mostly just do it for fun, occasionally I get a order to do a cake, but I call it a hobby.....everytime I bring something to work they ask me why I'm there and not doing cakes full time......cause I have to pay the bills of course. LOL
This is a fun topic. I am currently disabled due to work injury. I was on patrol with the Sheriff Dept in California until I hurt my back. So 3 back surgeries later I am a housewife. I do cakes for family and friends as a hobby.

It is so interesting to see how cake decorating is a passion for such a diverse group of people. I work full time as a biochemical engineer/scientist for a major pharmaceutical company, but my true calling has always been in the art field. I stumbled in to this when I saw my $800 wedding cake and thought that I could do better than that! After having two sets of twins (3 year olds and 1 year olds), life is finally getting into a routine where I can do this more. I just applied for a license and hope to one day decorate full time and give up corporate America! Probably wishful thinking with 4 little kids, but miracles happen![]()

Took a year off and went back to school to get my teacher's certification. Went back to work as a special education teacher, mainly working with children diagnosed with autism, got pregnant again. had my baby finished off the school year and relocated to west texas and stayed home again. Until a year ago I found the perfect job , except for the pay, but my kids get to go with me. Well, now my oldest started kinder, and I love it. I only decorate for my kids, family and friends.
