I recently tried Whip n Ice-LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!! Personally, I think it tastes way better than Richs bettercreme..it has no aftertaste and is simply yummy. Best of all I can pick it up locally at a wholsale outlet. Try it and you wont go back to Richs bc.

Yeah! I have been on a mission to find Bettercreme or Frostin Pride, to no avail. But, the Whip and Ice rep said they'd deliver me a gallon tomorrow. I'm so excited to try it out. Thanks for the suggestion!

It is made by Instantwhip out of Ohio. My distributor said that a grocery store and a Dairy Queen were the stops on the route that I was between.

Thanks for that great info! Let us know what the distributor says. I too would be interested in it, for the same reasons everyone mentioned. I can only get Pastry Pride/Frostin Pride here and I cannot stand the weird chemically taste. Rich's only comes in Chocolate around these parts, and it's just OK imho. I am sure distributors have different policies but it would be great to know what some of them say to you all when you call! For those of you who can get it from a distributor: do you have to have a business in order to do so?

No because the lime flavor is gelatin. I am pretty sure they don't make lime pudding. But they DO make lemon, so yes, you could add that!! You will want to add a little regular milk though to keep it from getting too heavy and thick! And man-oh-man will you flip for it. It's gooood! It's an instant quick-n-easy mousse!

I cheated since I couldn't find any key limes at the store, and used the Philly Cream Cheese Mix that was Key Lime Flavored. I whipped it up and folded it into my Bettercreme. It was light, very flavorful. Not sure how Shelf Stable it would be since the mix was in the refriderator section, but we ate the cake for dessert the same night. Now I mix cream cheese and Key Lime Juice that I've found together and then fold that into my bettercreme. I also add a little green food coloring too just for a hint to the flavor.

Due to overwhelming interest in the versatility of Bettercreme, (and by popular request!!) I have compiled some instructions for how I use it. All three versions are pretty much interchangeable, use whichever version suits your tastes. The amounts Iâve given will fill and ice approximately 2 dozen cupcakes, give or take. (Depending on how much you like in/on them.) If you cannot get Bettercreme, there are some âmockâ recipes going around that everyone says are awesome, so give those a try!

For a lighter icing or cupcake filling:
Whip 2 cups liquid Bettercreme with a dash of any flavor extract or flavor syrup. Try using different flavors of Torani Syrups, (typically used in coffee shops to make fancy drinks. There are many brands, Torani is just an example!) Hersheyâs syrups, anything liquid that has flavor! (Use as much flavoring to your personal taste. I like a LOT!)

If you want something richer:
Whip 2 cups Bettercreme with 1 small pkg. pudding and 1/2 cup milk. You can also add extract to enhance flavor.

For something completely sinful, and decadently rich:
Whip 8 oz cream cheese until soft, whip in 1 small pkg. pudding and 1/2 cup milk. Set aside. Whip 2 cups Bettercreme to semi-stiff peaks, fold into pudding mixture. You can also add extract to enhance flavor.

Add-ins:
If you want to make a âchunkyâ filling/icing you can stir in just about anything! Crushed cookies of any type, crushed or chopped dried fruit, nuts, candy bars, etc. Go wild and use anything you have on hand!! Mix and match to make it fun! Garnish with candy, sprinkles, cookies, anything that matches the flavor you are making! Be creative!

Here are just a few cupcake flavor suggestions and examples. As I said, you can use any version with any flavor, these are just some that Iâve found to be popular. You can use the same thing as both filling and icing, or you can change it up by using different flavors or textures.

Try These:

Chocolate Malt Cuppy: Devil's Food cupcakes. Lighter version made with Hershey's Chocolate Malted Syrup. Iced with same, or chocolate ganache. Garnish with malted milk ball.

Peanut Butter Bliss: Devil's Food cupcakes. Lighter version made with Reese's peanut butter syrup. Iced with same or chocolate ganache. Garnish with peanut butter cup or peanut butter malted milk ball.

Raspberry: Vanilla cupcake. Lighter version made with Torani (or other brand) raspberry syrup. Iced with same. Garnish with a fresh raspberry.

Mounds Cuppy: Devil's Food cupcakes. Richer or Sinful version made with coconut cream pudding. Iced with chocolate ganache. Garnish with a dollop of filling, or an almond to make "Almond Joy" cuppies.

Butterscotch: Vanilla cupcake. Richer version made with butterscotch pudding. Iced with same. Garnish with sprinkles, etc.

Dulce de Leche: Vanilla or caramel cupcakes. Lighter version made with Hershey's Dulce de Leche syrup. Iced with same. Garnish with Betty Crocker caramel sprinkles.

Amazing coconut: Coconut cupcakes. Any version for the filling made with coconut extract or coconut cream pudding. Iced with same. Sprinkle with toasted coconut.

Banana Flipsy: Banana cupcakes. Lighter version made with banana extract. Iced with same. (This is also fantastic if you torte a cake into four layers and fill with it. It's so light and amazing!!)

Boys in Blue-berry: Blueberry cupcakes. Lighter version made with boysenberry Torani syrup. Iced with same. Garnish with fresh berries.

These are just a few ideas to get you going... there are so many more!

For those who have trouble whipping the Bettercreme, I know your frustration! It seems like itâs just not quite stiff enough, then three seconds later, WHAM⦠itâs overwhipped! Ergh! Well, go ahead and stop whipping when it just doesnât quite seem done⦠not still soupy, but when itâs just a little bit soft. Lift up your mixer and use a clean finger to test it. It may actually be stiff enough even though it looks like it isnât. Now, if you do go just a bit too far, simply put a little splash more Bettercreme liquid in the bowl and stir by hand. This will bring it back to life.

If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to add them here! Good luck, and enjoy!

I am wondering just how much the rich's bettercreme makes. I can get it in 4 pound and 8 pound frozen packages. I need to figure out just how much I need to frost the monster cake(s) I am going to be making for my mother-in-laws 65th wedding anniversary cake I am making.

I just bought some pre-whipped when I visited a Sam's w/ a bakery (ours doesn't have one icon_sad.gif ). But I lucked out & it's perfectly smooth & actually tastes better than what I've bought & whipped myself. The only down fall is that container is HUGE--like a 5 gal bucket. But I can't complain since it was only $19.62!!!! I love it b/c I can experiment w/ it w/out having to whip. I just bought the Sweet Almond Creme creamer & am going to mix some in w/ it. Then try making some lemon & orange mousse as well. And yes, I'm eating it myself. Ha ha ha!!!

Sparkels, I've read that it triples in volume, but I've found it's closer to just over doubling in volume (like whipping cream does when whipped)

You might want to PM Melvira. I know she's been busy but she could answer that for you. I buy the 8 lb cartons and there's 4 cups liquid in each but I'm not sure how much it makes. I would say maybe 8 cups but I'm not exactly sure. It usually fills half my 4.5 quart mixing bowl.

Been reading this thread from the beginning, but only just managed to get my mitts on some Bettercreme. (Bakemark in Buffalo, for those in this neck of the woods.) icon_biggrin.gif I cannot wait to try it ...

Then the next day, I visited the little town I grew up in for a maple festival ... planning to buy our yearly jug o' real maple syrup ... hmmm ...

Ladies and gents (we do have some gents on here, don't we?), I hereby submit for your approval: Bettercreme whipped with a bit of real maple syrup drizzled in ... on spice cupcakes, perhaps ...

Doesn't that sound good?? Has anyone tried this?

Also, I've heard that people have been able to find Bettercreme at Sam's Club. Has anyone found it at BJ's Wholesale, which is similar to Sam's Club? I'm not sure how widespread the chain is.

Since I can now only find Bettercreme in the pre whipped form, I have a question. Can I add flavorings to it such as maple syrup without it making it too thin? Or will it change the consistency too much to be successful? Thanks guys!!

Thanks so much Melvira. I can get it for 2.99 lb at Farm Fresh so I'm thinking the big pail at Sam's Club would be lots less expensive. I guess I can just split it up and freeze in seperate bags. Any suggestions anyone on what is the best to freeze it in?

Yah, I'd say you could use freezer bags, that would be sufficient. Or a lot of people use smaller containers, etc. I think the freezer bags would be nice because they don't take up a lot of space.

Melvira, if the darn stuff were more AVAILABLE, at this point you would be SWIMMING in bettercreme for the rest of your life! icon_biggrin.gif This thread has probably been the single most successful marketing campaign that Rich's Products has EVER had, and they don't even know it! The only reason you've only been able to get ONE million people to try it instead of TWENTY million people is because we can't FIND the darn stuff anywhere! Hmmmm........maybe you should send this thread to Rich's......what do you think? I mean, if they only KNEW how many of us would like to buy their stuff, they'd be swooning, right? And YOU'D be golden. They might even hire you. Tee hee. icon_smile.gif

I live in the city where Rich's world HQ is located. Our football stadium used to be Rich Stadium, and many people still call it that. I attended a wedding last year in the beautiful Rich atrium (with a wedding cake iced in Bettercreme, although I didn't realize that at the time!)

I wonder if I could put a bug in someone's ear about this phenomenon if I looked hard enough? icon_biggrin.gif

On another note: I finally got my hands on some Bettercreme and my local supermarket (Tops) has stopped carrying the chocolate malt syrup! icon_cry.gif I was really looking forward to trying those. Anyone around here know who might still carry it?

On the good side, it did have the chocolate peanut butter syrup, which I thought didn't exist around here. icon_razz.gif DH is thrilled.
