I'd love a link to your photos, Connie, and would love to see DH's birthday cake too!

I fell yesterday and sprained BOTH my ankles, so no exercising for me for a couple of days!

I'd love to see the photos too! Glad it went so well!!

Sonia: How did you fall!!? Sorry to hear you are hurt, that is terrible! Hope you feel better soon.

I did pretty good this weekend. I don't think I GAINED any weight at least! I did have a few Easter candies and I did try my desserts last night. I pretty much stayed away from the appetizers and I didnt have a huge Easter dinner. My MIL put a mustard glaze on the ham icon_sad.gif I have a mustard phobia LOL! I did take one piece but only ate up to about an inch from the edge of the ham for fear it might be contaminated with mustard! I know, I am wierd.

I got up and did my 5 miles on the treadmill this morning too! I am still feeling excited!

So glad the party was a suprise for him. This is something he'll always remember and cherish I'm sure. (speaking from my experience, and still blown away, lol).
Sonia, OMG, both ankles? How on earth are you manageing? Do you have any cakes to do?
Wow, 5 miles, 2 miles, I wimp out at 1 mile. HMM, once DH has to start walking we will be hitting the track at our neighborhood park. I gonna have to step up my game.
Didn't do too bad on the holiday eatting. My daughters both cooked everything and brought it over so I could take care of DH. I was wonderful, and the 1st time I haven't had to cook since I was 1st married, uh, 22 years ago. I did make a cheesecake that was posted by a cc'r, so had to try that, but I made just enough for everyone to have 1 piece, so no leftovers on purpose!

Hope your ankles get better soon, Sonia.

Guess what I did for Easter? Worked, of course. I didn't get home until after 5. Had a light meal. No Easter candy in the house, but I did make some cupcakes for dessert.

I sure wish my DH would lose some weight. Maybe when he goes to the doctor on the 20th he will be told to lose some, too. I talked to my mother and she lost 20 pounds. That made me happy because I've been worrying about her. She is doing a walking program in the house.

Not sure when I will be able to weigh in again. I have been eating during the day and DH has been making me breakfast in the morning before I leave for work.

Tal to you all soon.

BTW, Connie, I'd love to see your pics, too. Glad the party went off well.

This morning after getting back from the gym my DH was making his breakfast...toast and about 3 or 4 girl scout cookies. I said, "It must be nice to be you. Especially when I did 5 miles on the treadmill yesterday and still managed to GAIN a pound overnight." Arg..he makes me sick! (okay I am very happy that he is a thin, healthy person, but STILL! Give me a break, will ya?) I did however get an email from Bob Green (Oprah's guy I think?) and it said that you can't always rely on the scale from day to day because it depends on what foods you've been eating, liquids in your system, what's digested, what's not etc. In order to actually gain a pound you have to consume an extra 3200 calories. So in all reality I probably didn't actually gain a pound. This is why I shouldnt be weighing myself so much. It gets frustrating.

Connie, your party looked awesome! Looks like you all had plenty of fun. Thanks for the link.

I injured my ankles by stepping down off the decking into a hole newly dug by the dog! Unfortunately the second leg was well on its way to the same place before I had time to stop it, thus 2 injured ankles! That was over 48 hours ago, and they still hurt! I think they might cope with a bit of exercise tomorrow. Just to make things worse, I had the flu that day too!!

Merissa, I have a brother who snacks on lollies and biscuits all day, and NEVER puts on weight!!! It's just so unfair, isn't it!!

Well done to those who showed self-control over Easter! I wasn't TOO bad, but could have been better!

Hi everyone! I have a funny story to share on this subject. I have quickly scanned through the thread and am just joining in. I am 35 and mother of four. I have been trying for about a month now to eat healthier, get more exercise, drink more water, and cut out sugar (this is the hardest part).

On Easter Sunday we had family over for dinner. My 6 year old son heard me say that I was trying to watch my sugar. He turned to our family and said "I am trying to watch my vegetables. I am keeping them as far away from my mouth as possible!"

Now I have to go back and read the last few pages and see if I can catch myself up.

Connie, that looked like a great party!!! Glad it turned out fun. So I am going to assume there were adult goodies in the pinate?!?!?!

Tonia welcome. Join right on in. We are here to support each other and give the occasional push to those who need it.

I did well today, and we had hot dogs for dinner, I had one and some chees=itz, love them. I am having a hard time right now because I start my friend tomorrow so I eat everything in sight right before, glad it is tomorrow!!!

Have a great evening, and talk to you all tomorrow.

Welcome Tonia! Just feel free to jump right in...no need to worry about "catching up!" We used to be a little more "structured" here...weigh in's, goals etc. We've gotten a bit more relaxed and just come for the support and friendship. Just go ahead and do what feels right. I have decided to get back on track and start up with weekly weigh in's and writing out my goals. I am trying to get more focused again. I am so on-and-off that I havent gotten anywhere (except added 5 pounds from last year icon_redface.gif ) I am mostly doing it for me, but there are no requirements!

I got some new shoes last night. I had been wearing the same running shoes for more than 2 years! They looked okay from the outside, but were looking pretty bad inside, the heel was all torn up. I was reading in a magazine that you really should replace shoes after 350-500 miles in them. I KNOW I have done a lot more than that (I also use them for walking around in sometimes). They said otherwise you could be setting yourself up for injuries. I have noticed some new aches and pains in my feet and legs, but I don't know if it was the shoes or my increased exercising. Anyway I was excited to get up and try them out today! Well excited my be a strong word... icon_lol.gif They did feel better though.

I hope to meet my goal of under 160 tomorrow at my weigh in! I really need it to stay focused on my goal!!

Welcome Tonia, Im Sonia, so it could be a little confusing icon_lol.gif

We had a very bad storm here yesterday morning, and we were without power for 24 hours, as well as about 3 other towns. I was supposed to be cooking a cake last night! The power just came back on and this is the first thing I've done - - back on the internet!!

Sorry to hear of the bad storm sonia. Hope all is okay...at least you can get back on the computer!! yay!

Well I am weighing in and reporting this morning.

My goal was to get under 160....drumroll.....I was 159.8. LOL. I was hoping for a bit more (about 1 pound loss from last week) but I am trying to remain positive. At least it is a pound down instead of up! I met my exercise goals of 4-5 times a week (I did 5 days). I stayed pretty well on track with diet and water, but i had a few slip ups with Easter cake and candy. At least the leftovers didnt come home with me.

Last night we took the kids for ice cream and I was able not to order any. It really felt okay. DH was being supportive so he didn't get any either. I told him he could because there is no use being jealous that he can eat what I can't. I can't change the fact that he can eat a lot more and not gain weight. I just need to get over it.

New goals:
1. Exercise 4-5 times including lifting weights
2. 64 ounces of water daily
3. Maintain healthy eating plan
4. Stay positive and focused on my goals.
5. Lose hopefully 2 pounds (lets say 158 by next weigh in)
6. Get over the fact that life isnt fair and just do what needs to be done!

Have a great day!

Well done, Merissa!! A pound is a pound!

I've had a bit of a shake up - I've been on this elimination diet, but although I have cut out a lot of foods, I haven't cut down on the amount I'm eating.....well, my DH decided to join me on the diet. He's been working away and just coming home on weekends, and I saw him again today.....he looks SO much thinner! Ahhhhh, I need to get more serious!

I've also been pretty restricted with my exercising while the kids are at home. They have another week at home, but I think I'm going to go buy some dumbells this afternoon so I can workout anytime.

Happy Monday everyone! Well I forgot to set my alarm this morning so I missed my workout this morning. Yesterday we had friends over and I made lasagna, and we had chips and salsa, and we had dessert....so I am not starting the week off that well! I will be good from here on out!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! It was sunny and warm here on Saturday...we got a couple of sunburns! But now it is back to cold and rainy. Oh well, I have a few cakes this week, so at least I wont feel guilty about staying in!

Good morning everyone!!
I had a great weekend away, in the mountains. It was very cool and relaxing!

I am doing great so far I believe with my glucose readings. My evening numbers are still higher than my morning numbers and that was where my Doc said to keep a close eye, as this is a sign that I may need to go back on my meds. So......SO FAR SO GOOD!!!

I hope you feel better soon Connie
Karen that stinks, but at least you have it and are not starting out behind!
Keep looking for those dumb bells Sonia, they are great for adding a boost to the workouts.

OK gotta run, my boss said we are very busy today!!!

Big day here. DD and her hubby came by to tell us we are going to have a new grandbaby in Dec. About 3 yrs before they had planned (Married just 1 1/2 yrs.) but I am so excited. Then within the same hour got an email that I had gotten a job I was hoping for. WOO HOO! justin time. but that's another story. Anyway DH has lost 15 lbs since his knee replacement. Me, yea I gained 2 lbs this week, WTH! Been pretty stressed out thou, in my defense, so I know where my faults are.
Sonia, I know it stinks, men have the "easy to lose gene" or something.
Melissa, keep up with those numbers, and good for you.
Connie, hope you feel better.

Alaina...congratulations! congratulations! I wasnt married long before I got pregnant either. My mom was really surprised, she had to go lie down! Congrats on the new job too! wow, what a big day!

My week isn't going as well (diet and exercising) I am determined not to go back to my old ways though. I missed a workout monday because I forgot to set my alarm and today because DH is out of town and I can't leave the kids at home obviously! Plus I ordered pizza last night (since Dh was out of town...) Need to get back on track here. It's not too late! DH birthday is saturday, so there will be cake too! But I think I will send a bigger cake to work with him (it's tradition to bring stuff in for birthdays...they are like children there) and just a small cake for home, no leftovers.

I did though run my fastest 3.1 miles yesterday (29:40) so I felt good about that!

CONGRATS Alaina very exciting on both accounts!

Sorry haven't been on much I wasn't really up to par if you know what I mean. I passed one big kidney stone Saturday and then had to have IVP yesterday to ck to see if there was any damage today is the best I've felt in awhile. I'm still really sore (and frankly laying on an xray table for 2 hours KILLED my back OMG that was painful) but so much better than I was. Thanks for the well wishes....

I have obviously been slacking since getting the baby to watch during the day and the stones I'm HOPING once we get a routine for the lil baby I can get back on track right now it's a lil difficult just fitting time in for my children and the house cleaning- well get there just new for everyone

Keep up the good work ladies and those of use that have slipped up we'll lets just get right back on track!
