wow wow wow! Lots of news I missed! Katie your daughter is a beauty!
I have to ditto the 3:45!?!?! I thought I was punishing myself getting up at 5:00. For me the hardest part is putting my feet on the floor. By the time I am in the bathroom, I am usually 75% awake. I am ALWAYS glad I exercised (once I am done!) This might give you a chuckle... for me exercising, church and sex all have something in common. Sometimes I am not sure I want to do it, but once it is overwith I am glad I did...LOL LOL LOL.
I have gotten myself into a good exercise routine of 4 days a week. I think I am going to try for 5 days now that it is becoming more of a routine habit. I guess I really need to get real about my eating though. I don't feel like I am eating all that much, but I am not losing weight and actually gaining a little despite my exercise. I must be doing something wrong. I think consistency is a problem for me. I am a little too much on and off. I did have a doctors appointment last week and all of my blood work was great. My cholesterol is at 174 and all the other stuff she indicated was good too. So at least I know I am healthy (blood-wise anyway!). With the knowledge that I am healthy I am feeling like the only thing stopping me from losing weight is me.
Hello, everyone!
Sounds like some good changes are going on with everyone.
I also can't even think about getting up any earlier than I have to. 5:30 every morning. My weight seems to have stayed stable for the past several months.
Work is going pretty well recently. I am taking home between $75 and $115 per day, so that is good. I can't believe that I am actually able to do this job. There is a new waitress that has started and she is having a hard time. I have been trying to encourage her and have also been able to help her a bit. She does have some waitress experience but nothing so fast paced as the IHOP.
Hope everybody has a good day. Talk to you later.
Karen ~ You must be exahusted by the end of your shift, that sounds like a tough job. Do you wear a pedometer? I bet you'd be surprised at many steps you take.
Merissa ~ I can't believe it! You and I have the same attitude on church and exercise...I NEVER want to do either, but am always glad I did once I've finished. Now sex...as a single woman without any prospects, I have a bit of a different attitude about that!
I like Curves...I've only been 2x but it's a good workout in a compact amount of time. I'm not checking my weight daily yet, but I'm going to start soon, I just can't bare to see that I've gained like 10 pounds, so I have to lose a bit before I step on the scale!

LOL, well you are starting your new life, so hopefully you will find your special person soon! I actually have a lot of single friends. I guess I am not sure where all the good men are?? Well if I were single I would be hitting the weight room. If you go at the same time you usually see the same people. The guys are always willing to help out with the machines, adjusting etc. I have met some nice guys in there...not that I am looking...but if I were...
Karen, glad to hear that your job is going well. I was a TERRIBLE server. I couldnt remember who ordered what or sometimes what table it was for! I spilled a drink on someone once. One summer was quite enough for me...and the customers. I would probably be better at it now that I am used to serving three kids and multitasking.
Susan, I've tried wearing my pedometer, but I keep resetting it and by the end of my shift it reads in the hundreds. If I could find a pedometer that I wouldn't bump the reset, I'd try again. I've often said that I'm going to lose 50 punds working there.
Merissa, I haven't spilled anything on anybody yet, but I do tend to drop some things, and a couple weeks ago I broke an entire tray of glasses with water in them. My manager cleaned up the mess while I reseated the customers that were seated at the table.
Hi all,
Well, I didn't lose any weight this week
I have occasionally nibbled on something I shouldn't have, though, so it's my own fault.
About your KA Susan......I've had mine for 12 months now, and I am slightly disappointed that I need to scrape the sides down all the time. I don't have a problem with small mixtures though, because I always triple my recipes. I've been thinking about getting one of these http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_lSWHgVZEA&NR=1. They are not made by Kitchen Aid.
hey there, im mandy, and i am totally in need of some help on this whole weight thing. how in the world are there skinny bakers. it doesnt make sence to me. im a frosting freak, which sucks because usually i end up eating too much and then i get sick. but i cant stop its like my mounth has a mind of its own when im baking yummy stuff.
anyways thanks for the invite to this group i think its really nice to have people who know what im going through.
Hi there Mandy, and welcome!!
I think it's only possible to be a skinny cake decorator if you hate cake! I've put on weight over the last 12 months, which have been my busiest 12 months for cake orders. It's not frosting for me, though, it's the warm crunchy top that you cut off the cake when it's freshly out of the oven!
We used to weigh in every Thursday and report our progress, but have been a bit slack of late, with many of us not having internet access, or being too busy, but most of us are back here posting again now!
Hi Mandy welcome!
Yes, as sonia said we have been slacking a bit with our structure here. We used to write and report goals, weigh etc. Feel free to do whatever you like. Come often or a little, someone will be around for support!
That said, I think it is time (again...sigh) that I have to give myself a fresh start. So I will reintroduce myself. Hi, I am Merissa and I guess I must be a cake/food addict. I am 33 and weigh more than ever! I am up over 160 pounds and I am 5'8". I am growing out of my clothes, but I refuse to by any more (bigger) ones. So I have been wearing like the same 3 pairs of pants for the last month or two. I have a pretty good exercise routine going (3-5 times per week). I didnt think I ate THAT much, but apparently I must! I am perfectly healthy otherwise. I was at the doctor the other week and all of my routine blood work came back excellent. She did my BMI and I was slightly in the "overweight" category and it really freaked me out. Even though I thought I could stand to lose a few pounds before, I was never actually "overweight" according to the charts. I feel like I am always giving myself excuses either to eat or why I must not be losing weight. I have to get real with myself. I feel like a broken record, I have said it so many times before. While I would love to weigh 135 again, I think I will settle for 145 at this point. I have to do something or I will just contine to gain weight since it has been the pattern for the last 3 years. Sorry for my rant. As you can tell this has really been bothering me lately. I find that I am thinking about it a large portion of the day.
So anyhoo I am going to write some goals for myself this week. Maybe I'll even report weight and progress again. Feel free to join me if you like!
1. Drink at least 60 ounces of water daily.
2. Exercise 4-5 days a week, with at least one session of weights.
3. Cut the carbs! (at least the sweets, white breads etc)
4. Aim for a 2-3 pound loss, but don't get discouraged if it doesnt happen.
5. Just do it! No more excuses.
BTW, sonia, that paddle looked cool! I saved it to my faves on amazon.com. Let me know if you get one and if you like it. I love my KA, so I am sorry you are having trouble susan! Do you have a bowl lift or the other kind? I have a 5 quart, I wish for a 6
.
Oh I forgot one more goal....Easter candy is for kids.
Hi Mandy and welcome!
Sonia that beater looks SO neat!!!!! I have the Professional KA (thank you father in law
)
Well, THE party that I have been planning and attempting for 'firm' up for is THIS FRIDAY! OMG I can NOT believe it's here!
I'm making NFSC today and start baking the cake tomorrow all while cleaning up the house and keeping the kids corralled AND keeping DH in the dark about his party!
I did do my 200 crunches yesterday, didn't get to them today BUT I have swept all the front and back patio's -does that count for anything LOL.... I'm getting so nervous. I HOPE I look good in my pin up outfit and I PRAY more than anything that people show up or dh will be so upset (he's a VERY sensitve man ![]()
I can't wait to hear all about it! I know you have been talking about this party for awhile now. Remind me, is it a birthday surprise? I can't believe it is still a surprise after all this time! How are you keeping it all from him? It is at your house? WOW...good luck with it all!
Well I know a lot of us have been slacking here lately (maybe not ALL of us
) but I know I have. BUT right now I am EXCITED! I admit I don't know how long it will last, but I could use some reinforcement ladies! Who's with me? I have been to the gym 3 days in a row. I did 6 miles Sunday and 5 miles today on the treadmill and weights yesterday. It felt good to have burned off 600 calories this morning before a lot of people even got out of bed! I think I will go to bed early tonight so I have no excuses not to go tomorrow!
Welcome, Mandy!
I can't believe your party is already here, Connie. Hope you have a great time.
Merissa, I have been one of the slackers, but I still have lost some weight. Went to the doctor today ($80.00 I didn't need to spend). The scale said 146. Down about 6 pounds since last weigh in. Total of about 20 pounds since I started. Or something like that. I am still counting pant sizes, which also has gone down but only about a half size or so since I moved to Florida.
The doctor told me to start eating several small meals per day, so that should help to get me back on track and get my blood sugar evened out again. I just don't know yet how I am going to manage several small meals daily, working like I do.
Hope everyone has a great rest of the day!
Karen
That's awesome Karen! maybe by a small meal it could even just be a healthy snack instead of finding time to actually sit down with a plate! You know light cheese stick, banana etc.
I think that's what he was talking about, Merissa. He just wants me to eat more than once a day. He said it is not good for me to just eat one big meal.
I'm just glad that all of my fears of "what could've been" were not brought to reality. I was expecting an expensive drawn-out process and to have to miss at least one day of work.
my dad was always on the "one meal a day plan." He wouldnt eat all day then he would get home from work and eat a huge meal. Now that he has diabetes, he is much better than he was. He has cut out a lot of sugar and eats more regularly now. I don't know how people can make it all day without eating. It gives me a headache if I don' eat something. I could skip breakfast, but that's it. I guess maybe your body can get used to it.
I went to the gym again today. I did another 5 miles on the treadmill. I did my first 3.1 miles in under 30 minutes for the first time ever! (29:51 to be exact! LOL. I track that because it is a 5K) I did do a lot of grabbing onto the treadmill though. I don't know why I do that. IT is a mental thing I think. oh well 615 calories burned...yippee!
Good morning everyone.
Sorry I have been missing. Not slacking just missing from here!!!
I sure missed you guys and so glad that we are together again, supporting, encouraging and kicking tail when needed!!!
Connie have a great time with the party, I also cant believe you kept it a secret that is awesome!
Karen, so glad you are busy at work and things are looking up!!
Merissa, I am with you and below is my recommitment to this thread!
Mandy, welcome and post anytime about anything. Questions, encourgement, tail kicking as needed....what ever!!!
Well girls I got GREAT news from the doc yesterday! As you know I am diabetic. I had my 3 month blood tests and my A1C came back at 5.6 (goal was 6 or under)!!!! My doc has decided to let me try going off of my meds for a while to see what happens. If I can keep it undercontrol by diet and excersize I can stay off them for good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been religious about my workouts morning and afternoon, and have lost (according to her scale_) 13 pounds. I will see on Friday what I have lost, that is my weigh in day at home.
Hi, I am Michelle. I am 43 years young, and according to the charts I am still obese. I however do not feel it, nor look it (to me anyway!!!) I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 years ago and have finally started to make the changes I SHOULD have been making 2 years ago. I am watching what I eat and working out and feel really good, so onward and downward (scale wise anyway!!!LOL)
OH and DBF has decided he wants to loose, so this helps with having junk in the house to eat. He doesnt want it there so we dont have it any longer.
My goals for the rest of the week:
1- drink my 10 glasses of water a day
2- do my workouts as scheduled (no missing)
3- do not over eat on Easter Sunday
4- leave the candy alone
Ok gotta run and get some work done!
That is so great Michelle! I am proud of you! Your weight loss and exercise are a big inspiration for me!
I feel so silly that I have gained 10 pounds in the last two years of "membership" here.
I still have time before summer, and I don't want to have to buy more clothes (unless they are smaller
)
OMG, you gals are so inspitational. I am ready to jump back in. Hi, my name is Alaina, I am 50 yrs young, 165 and 5'6", which means I need to lose a min of 11 but rather 21 lbs to be in th right range.
I will drink my 64 ozs of water daily.
I will start walking daily. I will begin to work on a plan for my workouts. Ok, I know that sounded lame. DH is having a knee replacement tomorrow am, once he comes home he will have a physical theripist here daily for a while. So yes I am a stress wreck, but plan to work out with him.
That party will be so much fun, my family just had a suprise party for me last weekend. I had no idea and was so touched. 50 + people, the works. I know your DH will probably be blown away.
Keep up the good work everyone
And welcome Mandy.
Happy 50th Birthday Alaina!
That's awesome about your party! I'd love to plan a surprise party. I might have to wait until my DH turns 40...so I got 6 years. LOL. I laugh now, but it will probably be here before I know it! My dad turns 60 next year though! I would love to hear all about your party.
I am glad were are jumping back in here. I feels good to be excited about this again. The question for me is how to maintain it? I always get geared up for 2 weeks...a month...maybe 2 months then I fall off the wagon.
I got a big slap in the face the other day watching the biggest loser. Did anyone watch where they had to eat what was under the tray? Anyway they had cupcakes on there (not even lavishly frosted) and they said they were over 500 calories!! I guess I am wondering just how many calories I have actually consumed eating cake scraps, testing cake and icing recipes? I think when I KNOW how many calories are in things I make better choices about how much to put in my mouth. I guess I was in the dark about cake! I will bet it was really more the icing. I think I will be much more careful from now on.
I weighed in the morning (since it is our traditional weigh in day) at 161. I think I might be down 2 or so pounds from monday. New goals for this week:
1. Drink at least 64 ounces of water daily
2. Exercise 4-5 times per week with at least one day of strength training
3. Weigh in below 160 by next week!
4. Eat a sensible amount on Easter. Leave the candy for the kids. One teeny tiny dessert (since I am making, I have to try it)
5. Keep excited!
Have a good day!
It's so great to see the renewed enthusiasm!! I have lost another pound this week, and your enthusiasm is encouraging me to keep it up. I will re-introduce as well.....Hi, I'm Sonia, I'm 36 (GASP!!), 5'6" and weigh 169 (another GASP!!) I've also put on quite a bit since being part of this group, and I blame it on the extra cake orders! AND my lack of self-control! My goal weight is 140, but I'm wondering if I'll EVER get there again! I've decided my Mum was right.......once you hit 30, your figure disappears!! Of course, I know it's because your metabolism slows down around your 30's, but I really wish your appetite was supressed to go along with it!
My goals for the next week:
1. Exercise every day (that's going to be hard, as my kids are now on 2 weeks holiday, and they don't enjoy being dragged along on a fast walk)
2. Drink more water
3. Cut out the sugar (I was getting headaches from going completely off sugar when I started my elimination diet, so I was just having a little each day, but that amount has been increasing!)
4. Lose 2 lb
I have been doing this elimination diet for 4 weeks now. I've done a few tests, by purposely eating something I think I'm intolerant to, to see if I react. It looks like dairy was causing me to fall asleep any time of the day! And wheat OR gluten (haven't tested thoroughly to decide which one yet) is causing bloating and a pain in my hip. That means some major changes in my long-term eating habits!! I'm looking into Indian cooking. I borrowed a book from the library today and bought some ingredients and plan to cook Indian tomorrow night. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Indian, and would really enjoy having it for my lunches, much healthier than bread!
The only reason I haven't bought the beater blade yet, is because I hadn't seen any here in Australia and I was going to have to order from America. When I looked on ebay, it gave the measurements and it didn't seem to be the right size for my machine. Anyway, the other day I found a real authentic Kitchen Aid one here! My sister gave me a voucher for my birthday in Feb from that store, and I'm going to go in and get one (as soon as I find the voucher.......it seems to be momentarily missing!)
Connie, waiting to hear how your party goes. Hope it's a huge success, and people have managed to keep the surprise for you.
Sorry my post is so long.....it's my first day in 5 days that I've got "free" time with no cakes to do, so I can relax for a couple of days!!
CONGRATS Michelle on your A1C # that's awesome! I hope that you are able to stay off the meds!
OMG the party is TOMORROW! AHHH so much to do! Yes this is a surprise party for my dh he turns 30 on Monday! I have been planning this for a year and a half and he still has NO CLUE!
Today is going to be one busy day for me. I have to decorate 2 tiers of the cake already have the bottom tier/dummy cake decorated, decorate cookies PLUS do another run thru on the house ALL while keeping my 4 and 5 year olds entertained LOL. I hear a movie day coming ![]()
Even though tomorrow was my purpose for all of this exercise I would like to remain in the group. I like how I feel when I work out and y'all make me stay accountable. I don't need to lose weight really but I want to be a healthy more toned person....
SO HELLO, I am Connie I am 28 years old and I weigh anywhere frp, 135 to 140 lbs I seem to flucuate alot. My goals are to continue to exercise 2 to 3x a week and avoid the desserts late at night and IF I'm lucky take 5lbs off BUT that isn't a must mainly just want to get right of the 'mommy' belly I rec'd after having 2 kids back to back...
Also I see that myself getting into a exercise routine has made my dh workout more often and he does need to lose some weight per the doctor (he's perfect in my eyes though
) SO I want to continue if for no other reason than to help my husband be a healthier him...
OK well off to my BUSY BUSY day! Wish me luck girls I'm terrified that no one will show up tomorrow
Hi everyone!! I love the renewed enthusiasm!!!
Of course Connie we would love to keep you with our family!!! It wouldnt be the same without any of us here!
Just like I felt a void when Susan was missing, and when karen was missing!!!
Having a great morning. Hope everyone has a great day.
Afternoon, all.
Good to see everyone here.
I have had breakfast the past two days and have also eaten something during the day. It is really hard to eat during the day while I am working. There seems to be not time while I am running around all day. I
My goal this week is to eat several small meals per day (just like the doctor ordered) and also not drink as much Coke (also doctor's orders).
Michelle, it is very nice of you to say that you felt a void when I was missing. I certainly felt a void when I was missing, also.
Karen
I have had a stressful day! phew. My eating has not been good. I have had a cup of coffee, a scrambled egg, piece of turkey bacon and 4 mentos. LOL. The kids have kept me out of the house and I don't have much to make a good meal. So I am throwing in a frozen pizza for dinner. My plan though is to just have a piece and make myself a salad. I am done with excuses though, so I realize this probably isnt my shining moment this week. Tomorrow is another day!
Good morning everyone.
I got up and did a 5 mile walk with Walk Away the Pounds. It was great!!!
Have a great day everyone!
DH just came home the hospital with a brand new knee. Dr. told him to lower the colesteral (SP) and lose some weight. I'M ON IT DOC! since he is at my mercy, he'll have to have what I fix right. Salad. Then I will have to eat right for him, right? Wish me luck, he is soooo picky.
Don't despair, Merissa, we all have our bad days!
Connie, how did your party go??????????
Well done on your eating, Karen!
Michelle, you're doing great with your exercise!!
Alaina, there's no better incentive to get DH to lose wait than doctor's orders!! Good luck!
I didn't get a walk yesterday, but I spent the afternoon on the roof painting the cedar on the second storey, so that was a bit of a workout!!
Good evening everyone!
Yes Connie how did the party go??? I am excited to hear all about it.
Alaina, glad to hear that DH is home and doing well. It is easier if everyone is eating better in the house. That way you dont have to cook two meals. I am in the same boat, my DBF is so very picky as well. I am at the point that I tell him what I am going to make and he either eats it or makes his own. His uncle just had a triple by pass so that has scared him into wanting to loose weight and get into shape, so things will be easier for me.
Alaina glad your dh is home and good luck on getting him on track as wel..
THe party went AWESOME! We had SUCH a great time, not as many showed up as I was hoping so I had a TON of food and liquor left. Dh was pretty surprised. He did say he had a feeling something was going on but he wasn't sure what and he DEFINITLY didn't expect what he got!
I uploaded pictures onto shutterfly but w/ how everyone was dressed I don't want to just put them online kwim.... I'll pm y'all w/ the link of pics if ya'll want ***WARNING there is over 100 and that was JUST w/ my camera not counting my aunt, cousin or dh's coworker**
Now, I'm waiting for my best friend to get here w/ her 3 month old lil boy I'm doing a 'dry run' for her today. She starts back to work Wednesday and needs to time the drive and how she'll do and he'll do w/ me..... SO I get to play w/ baby today but send him back home w/ momma later LOL
