Hi Girlfriends~
This will be my last check-in in Italy, I'm off on a plane tomorrow and my laptop is packed (I'm at work). I'll check in later in the week once I get settled at my parents' house. "See" you when I'm Stateside!

what amazing friends you have Susan~ BE SAFE tomorrow and we'll see you when you are in Texas country LMAO... You will be like 4/5 hours from me...(for some reason I'm thinking you said you would be in San Antonio - hope I'm right and not in total left field)....

Well, this is Tabitha's last week of school (my dd).... I am in charge of making cookies for the party on Friday and bringing a craft. I'm so excited I've never go to help w/ school parties and stuff I am SO excited (did I mention that LOL). THIS is why I want to remain a sahm, so I can be involved in the school activities. My son will be at my grandmothers house (his great grandma) he's very excited about that.
THEN the rush of holiday baking. I have like 8 types of cookies I get to make for Christmas day PLUS potato candy, pine bark AND help my kids decorate gingerbread men (that's what they make for Santa). Then they also get to decorate a gingerbread santa sleigh and reindeer - that's the centerpiece for my parents house Christmas meal... Plus ya know cleaning for when my in laws come over for Christmas also... Should be fun I like being busy

I HOPE that I keep up my decent eating habits I know that I will fall off track some but that's ok I won't beat myself up over it BUT I will get back on the horse so to speak!

So how are we doing out there?
I can feel the blues STRONGLY this week. I just don't handle stress well, I guess is the problem b/c I just feel so down. I don't want to say depressed b/c I don't think it's THAT bad (I Hope anyway) but if it were up to me I'd stay in bed all day just can't do that w/ kids though....

Anyway, I did do my 200 crunches last night. Today I have to go to the storein a little bit to buy the stuff to make NFSC for my dd's school party. So that will give me something to do and MAYBE occupy my mind...

I'm speechless, Susan! What wonderful friends!!

Alaina, the holiday baking is my downfall, too. I always make a million cake balls for teachers, neighbors, etc. and I always swear I won't eat any...then I do.

Hang in there, Connie, this is such a stressful time of year it's hard not to give in to the blues. I've had a tough couple of weeks worrying about finances and trying to make a nice Christmas for the kids when we're running short, and it makes it really hard to focus on the great parts of the holiday season. I have to force myself to count my blessings every day.

I'm sorry, I'm falling down on the cheerleading job again! Here's my suggestion for us for tomorrow... make one small change. Just do one small thing differently. Instead of a soda, grab a bottle of water. Instead of a snack, distract yourself writing holiday cards. You get the idea. And stick with that change for the rest of the week. Let's see if we can form some new habits!

Wow, what a great present, Susan! Hope your trip went ok and you're settling into your new home well.

Connie, I've had a few days like that too lately, when all I want to do is cry all day! I understand what you're going through. I hope you're feeling a bit better by now!

Well, Ive been soooo busy with cakes/cookies etc. The craft class I run finished for the year yesterday, and I made each of the ladies a small cookie bouquet (25 in all!) I was up till 3.30am doing it, then had to be up by 6, so was feeling pretty washed out. But the ladies really loved them, and today one of them rang and ordered 4 for Christmas presents!!

Well, we need a new cheerleader roster and I haven't made it up yet, so I was thinking maybe we should give cheerleading a miss over Christmas time, and start fresh in the new year. We're not gonna eat right anyway, are we??!!!??!!!

Morning Ladies. It's official, Christmas is one week from today and I am in my usual last minute tailspin. Will finish gift baking today, i hope. Have 2 cakes for the weekend and DH birthday and DS hockey christmas party both on Sunday. Neighbors all coming for cocktails on Friday, OMG thats tomorrow. and will not finish shopping till Tuesday.
Now that it's in black and white, it seems managable. We all need to remember (especially me), that we can only do what we can do.
Anyway, lets all try to not stress out too much and enjoy the season.

Thanks for the boost ladies... I am just stressed and I know it's just that I need to learn to manage it better. Normally I am fine over the holidays but just like everyone else this year is different, with my husbands company having already done 2 lay offs since October and a 3rd one looming overhead I am so worried and stressed. I know that no matter what happens we will make it thru it's just the HOW part that is scary..
BUT on a positive note, I have finished my daughter's cookies for her school christmas party tomorrow. Need to pack a tin to mail to my friend in NY (ya I know probably won't make it in time OOOPS)... THEN we are going to make our gingerbread Santa sleigh today - totally cheated and bought the kit - the kids only care about the decorating part anyway and no one will eat it anyhow it's the centerpiece.

I haven't started baking cookies for Christmas yet - I always wonder what day to start on , I want to give myself plenty of time but still want them to be fresh KWIM.... I won't have ANY time on the 24th to bake so I have to be done by the 23rd.
Anyway, I am rambling and sorry I always do loooong posts. Have a great week/end...

Wow, all that cooking!!! Well, I'm finished my Christmas cooking, just working on gumpaste flowers, as I have 2 wedding cakes for 3rd Jan, and I'm on holiday between 26th & 31st! I'm beginning to feel a bit stressed about them.

On my way to work right now so I have to go. I'll check back soon, and read up on all I"ve missed.

Hope everyone is doing well for now.

Karen, nice to see you again! You'll have to catch us up on your life...

I arrived in San Antonio after a very long flight with many weather delays and missed connections. I'll be here for the holidays with my family, then move to Houston on January 2. I have no idea when my stuff will arrive, hopefully by the end of the month.

I have strep...and am a bit miserable. Two of my young nephews and my sister have it, so I should've known. I went to a clinic this morning and got antibiotics, so hopefully I'll feel better by tomorrow. I don't want to be sick over the holidays!

Karen Welcome back to the states!!! Hope you feel better very soon!

Well I will be very busy from now until the new year. We decided to go with the family (about 20 or so of us) to Vegas for the new year. It should be fun, there is a family member with a house there and we all plan on staying with him so it will be full and noisy!!!

Hello everyone, so much news I missed. I hate not getting the notifications anymore and i sort of let cc slide for awhile. I was so busy finishing some cakes and cookies.

Susan, welcome to the usa! Sorry to hear you are sick, but that shiny new KA must help keep your spirits up!

I know everyone is probably feeling some last minute holiday stress or excitement. Hopefully we don't eat too much. I know though in a week or 2 we will all be back on our "resolutions"!

We keep having blizzards here and I am getting tired of sitting around the house. I'd like to finish up my shopping!

In other news, we have begun the construction on my new kitchen. Unfortunately the contractors (plumber, HVAC and electrician) is about 1/2 the total cost of everything!! My DH and dad are doing most of the work though.

welcome back Karen!
Glad you made it safely Susan....

Well, my morning has NOT started well!!!!!!! My dd woke me at 5:30 w/ a fever/headache and tummy ache. I had ran out of meds for fever a few days ago. So I woke dh to tell him I was going to the store and to cuddle w/ dd. I get to the grocery store they don't open until 6 (GRRR that's like 10 minutes dude you can't open 10 minutes early I even told him why I was there - IN MY PJ'S). No they won't so I go across the street I see a gas station thinking it will be expensive but I'll have meds! NOPE the doors are locked the clerk just stared at me. Then I'm RUNNING back to my car thinging &*(&*&(& I have to go to the super walmart! Then BAM! I dripped on some metal box thing and hit my chest on some poles (you know the HUGE poles they have in front of gas stations and the pumps to keep cars from hitting them?) Well, I hit that FULL FORCE w/ my chest! I just lay there I CAN'T get up! I'm tryingto breathe (knocked the wind out of me) takes me a minute to get my breathe then go OUCH hurt my knee too! SO I STRUGGLE to get up all while the clerk is doing that I'm starring at you but don't want you to think I am thing from inside he didn't bother to come out in the 30 degree weather to help me! SO I get in the car and get to Walmart get the meds and get home all in the 10 minutes it would have take for the grocery store to open. I give my dd meds and right now she doesn't have a fever PHEW took awhile for the meds to kick in.... But oh man my chest is KILLING ME! It hurts to move and breathe sometimes even too.... I'm sure I bruised my sternum or something but OH MAN this hurts! SO um ya thinking NO crunches for me for a bit!
Well, now I have to try and clean house, bake cookies, make candy AND tend to a sick kid! FUN FUN FUN

I hope y'alls day is going better than mine!

I am ALMOST positive it's just a bruise (obviously I can't be positive) but he is freaking out so I MIGHT have to go get it checked out (although we can't afford the medical bills UGH DUMBASS ME)

Holy #$%^ Connie, keep on top of this. I am so sorry this happened to you. What a sorry state this world is in that the clerk (JerK) probably didn't feel safe to come out, but jesh, he could of at least come over the PA and asked if you needed help. Glad DD is feeling better.
Merrisa how fun to be actually in the stages of setting up shop.

Hi Friends~
I'm sorry I haven't posted in such a long time. I'm feeling better, only have 1 more day of strep meds, and I'm glad that's over.

I'm finding that staying with family and living out of a suitcase makes me feel quite disorganized and I really do not like that feeling. I like hanging out with my sisters and other family, but I'm very ready to be settled in. I've been without my household goods for almost 5 weeks now and it's very disconcerting. My things are supposed to arrive this week, but honestly, I don't think they'll be here til the end of January.

My sisters are taking me to Houston on Friday, and that's where I'll stay. It'll be the next step in my getting-settled-in-journey. I'll get to see the apartment where I'll be living and I understand I can stay there until my things arrive; apparently there's a bed there. I start work on Saturday by attending an all day training.

One of the reasons I'm so anxious to get settled in is to restart my healthy eating and exercise. I haven't been practicing either lately and I'm ready to get back to it, ready to recommit.

So you may not "see" much of me in the next weeks because of my schedule and challenging computer access at wherever I happen to be staying. I miss you! I'm ready to start again!

Poor Connie! Are you OK?

Happy New Year to All!

Hey Susan, ya I'm ok sore as hell but ok! I bet you are SO ready to be all settled into your place. I imagine it's hard living out of a suitcase...

Well, since I'm still sore exercising is not working for me - although I did clean yesterday (took down all the Christmas decor) tha should count for something right LOL.... Sucks when it hurts just to push a darn vacuum....

I got a gift card from my parents for Christmas w/ the THREAT that I better spend it on me and not anyone else.... UGH so hard to do I have bought some frames which is for me in a way I'm the one that wants everything hung up LOL... SO today I might hit up Old Navy or something and look for a top. I have already looked at Macy's and Cato w/ NO luck! UGH everything either fits weird or looks to old for me that is in my price range (I'm cheap)...

I hope y'all have a great rest of the week and if I don't get a chance to get on (will be helping my dh remodel my bathroom tomorrow) have a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!
