Man, you guys really are an inspiration. But once again, I need to take a break from my weight concerns and concentrate on my back. I haven't been around as much lately, because I've been swamped at work and can't stand to sit in a chair when I'm at home. Sitting is the absolute worst for my back.
It's worse than ever now and I have another appointment with my surgeon on Aug. 22 and he's already told me that he'll order another MRI and then schedule another surgery. I stopped seeing him for a bit to see a pain management dr., but he's done all he can now and he's recommending surgery to avoid nerve damage. Trying to lose weight is making me do stupid things like trying to work out when that just hurts my back. I'm stubborn like that.
So anyhow, I am going to continue to try to make smart food choices and exercise when I can, but I have got to concentrate on getting my back better. It's been a year now since I hurt it and I'm starting to go a little crazy. I can't even remember what it's like to not hurt all the time, I've been on some kind of pain pill almost all the time since last November and I'm starting to lose my sense of self because I'm 'high' on painkillers half the time and having terrible mood swings, not to mention that being in pain makes you quite cranky and hard to live with.
Sorry for that little vent, a little self-pity is sneaking up on me today. I am taking a little break, but I'll continue to pop in here from time to time to be inspired.
You take care of yourself. Don't let the weight thing make you hurt yourself any more. It will keep for a while. Best of luck to you.
Thanks Karen! It's so frustrating because my weight has ballooned because of my back injury, both because I can't work out and because of all the steroids I've been on. I just have to tell myself that there's plenty of time to work on that after I've healed.

Shellie, you're so right - you'll have plenty of time to exercise after you're feeling better. Don't make it worse now! I can imagine how frustrated you're feeling, especially with having to take the steroids again
Focus on making good food choices - which will help! - and worry about adding exercise at some point after you've recovered from surgery.

Shellie (insert motherly tough love voice) Take care of yourself. Back problems are not something to take lightly. My FIL still has involuntary spasms, his right arm shakes uncontrollably, all because he thought he could be tougher than the pain and didn't take care of himself.

First Shellie, you take care of yourself for you and your family. where would they be without you? They are your 1 st priority, that means taking care of yourself is taking care of them, isn't it? And would you neglect them, no of course not. Fat melts and you can ALWAYS loose some but you only get 1 back and no 2nd chances on it you know? Plus we are having this awesome little bbq place cater our meats and breads for our party...this is the best bbq chicken and pork you have ever had melt in your mouth! Their rolls they make to put on sandwiches is to die for also!

But a good friend is coming in from chicago to help me set up and get things going through out the day saturday, thank goodness.

I ate 2 cupcakes over the weekend so I really need to take my own advice and get back on that treadmill!! Yesterday was my day off, but if I do it today, tomorrow, & Wednesday, that'll be 6 days of exercise this week. I want to get to the gym to lift, but with DD's dentist appt. tomorrow & my FIL's birthday on Wednesday, I don't know if that'll happen.

Wow, sounds like everyone is doing so well! What an inspiration for a Monday morning! My DH and I decided we are going back on the body for life program for awhile and do it together, starting today. Though I think I am going to combine the SBD with it a bit to meet my needs. But I got my lazy butt up this morning and went the the gym. Now I will pretty much need to get up early every morning to work out.
I had a so so weekend. I didnt eat anything horrible. I did have a mini birthday party for my mom and youngest turning 2 last night. Just a bbq with the family and of course cake! I cant get my parents to take any leftovers home because my dad is now diabetic. So I guess I am going to throw it in the freezer. With the body for life program you get a day off to eat whatever you want...so I will have some saturday! But I cannot cheat what so ever!!

Hi all!
I know I've been MIA for quite some time. It's been a rough weekend. Hubby got that new job on the first and had to wait until Friday for his first pay and then they didn't get his direct deposit started so had to send it and couldn't tell him (of course) when it was sent and what time it would get there. On top of that they shorted him $300! That was a whole week's wages at his former job but it is hard to go a month withut a pay and then not get the entire thing. Top that off with having to pay for a month's car rental and we are flat broke once again.
I haven't been thinking about my diet. I don't really think I did too badly but I am positive I've been shorting myself on water. And I was supposed to get my "good food" out of this pay!
Well, time to start over. My water bottle is full and I have all day to work on drinking it.

I am hoping ot have a better week this week. I can tell I have lost a couple of pesky pounds. i dont think it will be enough to meet my 10 pound goal by next week, I think I would literally have to stop eating until then...which I wont do obviously. But I am going to try my best to get in the "zone" again!!

I am making sure I don't over clean and over stress over this bbq at my house saturday.
I am focusing on my out of town friends that are coming and just doing a little bit every day so I am done but well rested and calm until then.
So my snacking hasn't been bad, except I fell off the diet wagon last night and had 2, count them 2, hostess orange cupcakes. Why? I have no clue, they weren't even good tasting... ![]()

So I guess I learned that lesson, just because DH and DK are gorging on pre-made ccs doesn't mean I have to nor does it mean I want to.

I used to LOVE those orange cupcakes! I havent had one though since starting to do cakes. Now sometimes when I go back and eat that stuff it doesnt taste as good as my stuff. But it still sounds yummy to me!

So my weekend camping...ate like crap but my friend and I did go on a 3 mile hike, not always with a path and the walk to the bathroom was probably as far as it could be and uphill all the way back!
So no more negative talk. We rented a boat and dh kept making remarks about his big stomach and man tits (
) and I realized how terrible it sounds when you're constantly putting yourself down (something I do a lot) so no more of that. I'm ready to live in a size 8 world...I just couldn't do it before.
I'm still struggling with finding time to exercise...still can't get my a$$ out of bed early enough and dd has stopped napping so that's not happening.
I guess my best bet is after dinner!!!
I'm out of my slump and ready to start back up that hill and am so glad I have all of you to accompany me!!!
No cheat wednesday!!!! I'm doing pretty good. I've had fruit and veggies and a little bit of steak. I've raked mowed and cleaned up my back yard.
I've decided to change my diet drastically ( and hopefully stick to it! ), I need to fit my dress for my step-sisters wedding.

I did do pretty good only snitching a little batter and 1 bite of cake <scrap> because my recipe seemed off and that's why I have to rebake today!!!! ![]()
This weekend is going to be a huge challenge. I am making potato salad, creamy cole slaw, cornbread, green beans, pork-n beans, roasted potatoes with onions and green peppers. Then I have to boil corn on cob while DH smokes our chicken and pork meat for sandwiches, for which I have kaiser rolls and sweet rolls baking for right now! ![]()
Then there are the cakes and ccs, not to mention home made strawberry and rhubarb pies too!
I may just set up the food and put on a bathing suit so I'll feel trapped to stay in pool and not eat. I hate to walk around in my suit, too much swinging and hanging going on there! ![]()
But I did weigh in, it's 132 so that is down 2 lbs.
So my goal is actually to maintain this weekend and work a little more next week to take off more weight and keep up my water so I at least feel healthier while I am doing all this! Wish me luck and I love and am rooting for everyone of you this weekend. I'll be sporadically checking in so I will see you guys soon!

Weigh in day. I am at 158.6, that is down .2 from last week. I will just say I maintained for the week. I am having a terrible time right now. I can't afford to go to the gym (my husband was shorted $300 on his paycheck) so I can't get the transportation to go. I am still walking every day. Everything I read says 30 minutes a day, I get in about 45 minutes to an hour all depending on what I do during my lunch. So I guess I got my exercise in this week. I did this week's challenge!
Unfortunately, I am slipping into that no breakfast again. I have to start eating. And I haven't been taking my vitamins, either. It's really strange that overeating and not eating both make you gain weight.
This week I am setting myself some goals:
1) EAT BREAKFAST
2) TAKE MY VITAMINS
3) WATER (I've been doing fine with this one)
Maybe I will also set myself a couple sugar free days, too, this week. I find I am eating more sugar the last couple weeks.

Well I lost 2-3 pounds this week! Yea! The scale kept telling me different numbers, but I will go with the lowest at 151.8. Well unfortunately I dont think I am going to make my 10 pound goal for next week
! I would have to lose like 7 pounds. My 2 pound gain last week really did not help! But I am just going to do the best I can.
As for goals, I have been drinking my water pretty well, but not measuring. I worked out 5 days this week and have followed my diet since monday...snitched a few things.
Goals for this week:
Continue my SBD/body for life plan
Exercise 5 days (2 lifting, 3 cardio)
DRink my 64 ounces of water daily

Sorry about my absence lately; I was running 100 errands on Tuesday & finishing up my FIL's cake yesterday before we went over to their house yesterday afternoon. I maintained this week, which I guess I'm happy with. I snacked more than I wanted to (but not really junky food), and ate way too many cake scraps. I did treadmill 6 times & I think that really helped balance out those chunks...uh, I mean small bits...of cake I ate
So I'm still at 153, right where I was when I started the 10 pound club. There's no way I'm going to lose 10 pounds in 10 days, so I'll just do my best this week & see what happens.

Honestly I couldn't be happier to do it. Up until recently I would dread the fact that I might get nominated for the job but I'm up for the challenge and hopefully it will help me stay focused.
I weighed in at 192-ish this morning. My scale says many different things, I think .6 was the most common. Only 12 lbs to go to reach my 10lb goal ![]()
So my first challenge as cheerleader....
Eat the recommended servings of fruits AND veggies. This ones personal cuz I was thinking about my kids and they definitely eat their fruit but not their veggies and I know I don't either. Plus my sisters friend was telling her about a book about the raw diet (I'm assuming raw fruits and vegetables) so that has been the focus of my eating habits. I do still eat dinner (and tonight was not so good) but am hoping it makes a difference.

I am trying to be good. I made banana cc and whipped ganache icing to top them and now I am getting ready to go fill and ice my 2 layer 6 and 4 inch butter vanilla pound cake with fresh lemon curd and strawberries. Then ice it in french vanilla butter cream dream.

Casey, great challenge. I can already tell you that I won't be able to do it. I don't have any fruit in the house and no money to purchase with. If you don't mind I will keep that challenge on hold to do after payday. I will be working on getting in veggies, though! I have some fresh from the garden (actually, they are frozen fresh veggies from the garden). I do have an orange here that one of the guys brought in for me.

That's a challenge I think we should apply to our daily lives, don't worry about when just do it when you are able. I did good. I had a huge salad at lunch so will just have to have a vegetable with dinner. A banana for breakfast and a plum for a snack, pineapple for dessert!
Next challenge of mine:
DANCE - I know I have issues/excuses with exercising. Can't get up early enough, can't walk with 2 kids (one being way too big for the stroller), it'd be nice to have a gym membership w/ childcare etc.
So DANCE....the kids love it and they will not get in the way. Shake your booty (off) for 30 minutes for a great cardio workout. 


I've been bad today, it's almost 6 and I am just now drinking my first glass of water ![]()
I am getting up at 5 to meet my sister for a 10 mile walk tomorrow so I'm excited about that!!!

Ooh, great challenge Casey! I'm lacking in the vegetable department since I discovered yesterday that my salad stuff had taken a turn for the worse. I still have some apples & carrots to snack on today, and fresh corn to make with dinner tonight before I grocery shop tomorrow. DS polished off the last of the grapes yesterday too - I swear he is going to turn into a grape one of these days ![]()
