Indydebi that is HILARIOUS! And SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!

And on that (original) life or death comment (not yours indydebi), no one here said it was life or death did they? No one is sitting on the floor of the shower with their clothes on, sobbing as the water cascades down their face because they're peeved by something on CC. Just fun venting. It's good to clear the air sometimes and let loose with a little rant. No names have been used, no one is gonna cry, it's ok to voice an opinion, we're all big girls and guys!

LOL hey I don't feel like a outcast if someone can help me and wants to help they will...if they can...I so understand when there really isn't anybody on to help. I in fact try to find posts that will help the poster with their problem...sometimes I can find their answer sometimes I can't and sometimes I just don't have the time. When I started coming to CC and had a question to ask I pm'd a lady who seemed to fun around with a lot of people on here...I got a totally horrible response..." I don't give my secrets away and please don't pm me anymore" (the first time I used pm in fact)

I asked what colors they used!!?!!! LOL There aren't any secret colors I thought...maybe there is...and I don't know about it...time to call in the detectives....SOOOOO.....I stay away from that poster. I so agree that it is their right to keep their "secrets" BUT A COLOR???? Come on give me a break..

ok, I'll chime in.....I hate it when I see a thread asking a question and someone comes right along with 'search the forums and you'll find the answer'..... icon_confused.gif I, for one, always search for the correct answer before asking but more often then not, either it's not there or I couldn't find it.

Also, if no one would EVER post a thread if we never asked the same question twice icon_smile.gif or 14 times or whatever. I realize it's tedious to us regulars when someone asks about cake box vs. scratch icon_lol.gificon_cry.gif but sometimes it's nice to get a fresh perspective, IMHO, of course. icon_razz.gif

I dont mind when people post pictures of their cakes in the forums. I dont guess Ive ever thought of it as them trying to get people to put their picture in their favorites...(What does that do? Really asking...do you get points for having people put your cake in their favorites? I've never read anything about what that does...) I just assumed that they wanted feedback on their cakes or were just really proud of their work. I know that anytime I've asked anything about a cake I'm planning everyone who contributes asks me to come back and post a picture when I'm done.

I know for me at least, Cake Central is really SLOW to load, so having to go through pages and pages in the gallery is sometimes hard. So, I dont mind either way. icon_smile.gif I guess the only pet peeve I have is that when someone posts asking for advice, and someone's advice isnt what they wanted to hear and they come back and jump on them for it.

Ok now that I'm out of the shower and have stopped crying lmfao icon_wink.gif

My biggest pet peeve is when people take the time to post their picture in the gallery, will name the picture, but will not put any information at all! about the picture, and won't put in search words so that it is searchable...

My next biggest is the "save" "bump" thing..

But mainly I think if you can take the time to upload a picture you should be kind enough to take the time to give a little info about it or at least put in search words for people to find it. If you're uploading it you're doing so to share it with the community, but how can we enjoy it being shared if we can't located it again because we had a internet explorer crash and the page closed and then it disappeared and couldn't be found again icon_cry.gif

O...M...G... THANK YOU!! I hate that! I mean, if it's been a couple hours pop in and say something like "Still hoping someone can help me..." but why does it have to be a snotty... "HELLO??? ANYBODY??? What, no one wants to help me?!?! icon_eek.gificon_confused.gif " That irks me a bit as well.

I have to admit I am sometimes also irked by someone starting a thread for "Look at this cake I did!" because they didn't feel it got enough views in the gallery. That can sometimes come across as egomaniacal. BUT, I will add, in certain instances, it is appropriate. Like, if you had received a lot of help from some people and want to show how they helped, etc. Or if it's a super special thing. I am clarifying, because in about a week I am going to start a thread to show off a cake, (but it's because it's a special circumstance, you'll see when the time comes) and one of my other peeves is a super hypocritical person! Hahahahahaha!!!!

One thing that I love is that we can get together and rag a little bit without it turning into a cat fight!! Just because something can annoy is if we're in a certain mood doesn't mean we hate the people who have done it in the past, and it doesn't make us mean people. Some days you just have a thinner skin that others. thumbs_up.gif

Edited to add: I also second (or third) the 'add some info' request! Sometimes, depending on my mood, it comes across to me like they think they are so good they don't have to give you any info on what they did. I KNOW THATS NOT WHAT THEY MEAN, just sometimes it irritating! icon_wink.gif

wgoat5, I agree with everything you have said. It does seem like some decorators get all the attention and it is disappointing when you have done what you think is an awesome cake for your talent level and it does not get noticed. I have not posted a cake in a thread to get it noticed, but I will admit to seriously thinking about it with one of them icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif . And, while it is time consuming to read all of some threads - IMHO if you are going to comment that is what you need to do thumbs_up.gif

I enjoy the "story" of the cake. Not interested so much in the how's and sizes and matl's, (interested .... but not the main interest) but I LUV hearing how it was made for a lady's 95th birthday and it was the first birthday cake in her whole life, etc.

I'm so in agreement with you Indydebi, for me it's how do you expect me to comment on it, with no information! Sometimes I feel like, if you can't be bothered to write a little about the cake, I can't be bothered to comment on it! I don't want comments on my cakes saying is that fondant or buttercream, I want comments that say wow that is so smooth for XXXX whatever it is! And absolutely, please, please, please fill in the keywords, there are times when I'm looking for a specific idea theme, and it's frustrating to see 10 cakes show up in your search when you know there must be 10 times that!

Hmm, that's good to know. I don't always know what to write, not sure what people want to know so I do end up writing what kind of cake it is, and really. . . . doesn't seem important in the end, but I just figured I needed to give some info. ( I'm new hehe) But I will try to remember that next time I put pictures in icon_wink.gif

and being that I'm new, I dont' really have any peeves yet. . .

so does this mean I shouldn't have posted here icon_confused.gif

I don't have big issues with people posting a finished cake thread. A lot of times they don't get noticed and a lot of times they don't get a lot of feedback in their photos. By posting the photo in the forum people tend to be more real about the feedback.

You don't win anything by having your photo put into people's favorites- and I think it's a little unfair to assume that that's why people may post pics of their cakes in the forums in the first place.

I don't like it when someone posts something honest-- not neccesarily mean but honest and people jump on them about it. If it's an advice/input thread why do people expect others to be so sugary sweet that everyone on the site needs to go see a dentist?! As long as it's not mean but constructive I view criticism as a positive thing.

Oh I love that you said that Nikki....I love constructive critisism...that is the only way anybody can learn!!! I look at my pictures and know that the pro's here HAVE to see all the bad points but nobody tells ya.....and if they do hey I take it as I need to work on that area...and who wouldn't want to know that they kinda suck at something and need to practice more.

Oh goodness... I have to jump in here... I also LOVE hearing the 'why' of the cake. I adore hearing how this is the cake someone did for their little old grandma, or their baby's first b-day etc. but you know what information I am NOT crazy about seeing... (oh god, don't slap me) "flavors". Firstly, the flavors that you chose have nothing to do with the pic I am seeing, I can't see the flavors, but more importantly if you list what they are... I might have to come harass you for recipes... not to mention that when they are GOOD flavors, I am forced to prowl in front of the fridge and desperately try to convince myself that I DON'T need to get out the Hershey's syrup and drink straight from the bottle! icon_wink.gif Aren't I awful! I especially hate when flavors are the only information that someone leaves. Ugh... kill me now! I know nothing about how you made your cake, but I do know I'm going to be on your doorstep for a slice of it! icon_lol.gif

I think I did already cause no one here gets to taste the cake so only the people at the event really care, right? We just want to see how pretty it is and how did you get it to look like that?!

I vote no more flavors unless it is really exotic.

I am guilty of the cake flavor thing. icon_redface.gif guess that's not very helpful. I always try to leave key words though.
I guess one nice thing about the "look at my cake" threads is that you do get to hear the stories benind the cakes! (good or bad).
