It's kind of embarrassing so I just delete it. icon_redface.gif Maybe we should see if they can get rid of that feature that shows how many views something got.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! icon_surprised.gificon_surprised.gif

I look at every view as a high compliment!!! That little thumbnail was interesting enough to attract their attention for a closer look. WIth all the cakes posted on here, that is a great compliment to me, that they took the time to even pop in and see it! It's not embarrassing that you only have 2 comments ..... it's a complimment that you had 200 people look at it!

I guess it depends on if you are a half-empty or a half-full kind of person.

Without the number of views, you'd REALLY have no idea or no feedback on how your cake looks to other people!

To me, comments don't count, but views are a victory! I'd rather have high views than lots of mundane comments.

My vote is DON'T lose this feature!!

I agree with you on this one. Give people a chance to find your message, read your message, and then decide if they can help you with your message. No one is on a campaign to NOT answer your questions, just give them time. icon_biggrin.gif

Especially if it's on a Thursday/Friday or Saturday ... when most of us are busy finishing up cakes for the weekend.

indydebi- I am sooooo with you on the views thing. I don't usually get many comments- but I love getting at least the views. It means they were interested enough to look at it closer. I have one cake in my pics with 25 comments (for me that is ALOT) but 1500 views. Love the views!

I would say that my pet peeve would be the "save". You get an email saying that someone has posted to a few really great threads that you've been following. So, you get all excited and you go get yourself a nice cup of coffee and get all comfy in your chair thinking that you're going to be intrigued with all this great info and you click on the thread and it says "save" icon_cry.gif
For the ones that do post the sizes of their cakes, I hope they continue. I haven't made enough cakes to be able to identify the sizes just by looking at the cake. It helps me to determine which size pans I need to create a certain look.

Holy cow! icon_surprised.gif I thought when I posted this yesterday that everyone would want to kick my a$$ icon_lol.gif

OK, so after reading this whole thing, I have to say I'm GUILTY!! Of a few things, lol!!

Hello everyone my name is Jessieb578 and I'm a CC addict. I'm guilty of posting a question and then bumping myself up icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I guess we all do things that annoy each other that we don't even realize!!! BUT - there's always a but....can I just compliment all of us on here - I mean look at the 7-8 pages of pet-peeves and we are all amazingly nice to one another! This truly is the nicest place on the web...we're here to help each other and learn about something we all love!!

Thanks ladies and gents - who's better than us! I'm happy to be a part of this community!

GE978 mentioned the thing about the OP coming back and saying "I know that" etc. and I agree about that... but on the flip side I have seen this happen a lot of times... (and this is an exact, real example) a person comes on and says she is making her own wedding cake because it is really important to her to do this and she just wants to know how long in advance she can make certain features. Then 15 people come on and say "Oh no, don't make your own cake, that's stupid!" The OP politely says that she is defnitely doing her own cake because it's really important to both her and her DH-to-be, and she just wants some feedback on the timeframe, but instead of being helpful and answering her actual question they continue to try and talk her out of doing it. She did not come on and post a thread that said, "Should I do my own cake?" I think that is indicative of people not really reading clearly and understanding what the OP is asking for. Maybe they are trying to read between the lines. Hard to say. icon_wink.gif

I think this thread has been really fun, to see people's opinions on certain things, and yet it's been kept very light and relaxed!! Awesome!

And I'm going to throw in there... I'm guilty of plenty of these things!! Even some that are my own peeves! icon_lol.gif

I'll admit it to, I can sit here for hours and look at the pictures. And yes, I wish too that some ppl would put some more description in their subjects, especially sizes. I can't tell just yet what they all are. And as for what Melvira said about the bride...I agree! Some ppl are just looking for some advice not to be put down or turned away from what they really want to do. I'm doing my own wedding cake in the spring. I'm sure I'll be looking for some input then!

I agree!!! I'm doing my own wedding cake for when we remarry in June and I've had a few ask me if I was nuts lol but sometimes some people don't know all the details... like this is our 2nd marriage TO EACH OTHER. He's been married to two other women before me and I've never been married before him. Every time he got married was at the court house, ours was a little different the first time and was done nicely on the court house lawn with a few family and friends with us. But this time we want it to be special and have a semi big dealy lol. We're doing the cake and all the food ourselves and no DJ no photographer just a bunch of friends with digital camera's snapping pics and dad with his video camera lol.

But yes it is very upsetting to have someone smash your dreams of creating your own wedding masterpiece icon_wink.gif

My pet peeve is the people that just post pictures on here.....they never leave any descriptions, never say thanks for the comments, never say a bleeping thing to anyone....but post their pictures!!

That annoys me because it makes me feel like they are just posting thier pics to show off what they can do, or how great we'll never be....but don't want to help, share, or be a part of this community....um, isn't that what your personal/business website is for?? What's the point in putting your pictures here at all?? Just the pats on the back?? Not Sure.

Okay.....that's my pet peeve. I must say I am guilty of a lot of these things listed. And, I'll second the earlier post about thinking listing the flavors was what we were"supposed" to do!!

Since I'm the one that originally brought up the flavor issue, I'll admit, when I first got here I thought it was common practice to do it too! It's not a big deal if you do it, it doesn't really make me mad or anything, I just think it ends up making me troll the kitchen for snacks more than I'd like to! Hahahaha! Puh-leeeze, if it's not that, I'll come up with another excuse, right? Hehehehe.

Melvira: I totally agree that happens...someone will break from what the OP was saying in the first place and go on tangents...

But I guess I was more talking about the threads that say specifically..."what do you think I should do" or "I need advice" and then you try to help them with their problem and you get arguments from the original poster...or they say "I've already tried that, blah blah blah"...Its just irritating because people take time out to try to help and the help is not welcome. I will say it happens alot in the Lounge as well as the cake sections.

But I don't have many gripes, so i thought i would list a big one I have icon_biggrin.gif

Okay, I'm one of the people who stopped putting the key words on uploaded photos. icon_redface.gif

I added tags to my first photo uploads because I thought it was used in a key word search; however, a few weeks later when I saw a photo and tried to use the key word link, e.g. "whimsical," I was simply directed back to the main gallery. Zero help that was. Also, when I put in the same key word into the Search feature it only gave me four photo results, some of which were not exactly what I had in mind. I also got a bunch of topic results, etc. So.....I thought "why take time to put them if CC hasn't got the technology right to make use of them!"

THEN, I did a forum search on how to use the Gallery's Search button!! NOW I know how the tags work and that they indeed DO work.

Just thought y'all would want to know why one guilty person didn't use the key word tags. --Marianne (a former non-tag putting member)

THat's just what I was talking about with the whole maroon/red thing I wrote yesterday (which was like what, 8 pages ago?!?!?) It is SO irritating when people do this!!! I find myself being VERY detailed in my posts asking for help lately because there's always someone who will twist what is asked and almost make it about them or something. Its like they just have too much time on their hands or one of those people who just talks to hear themself talk (although in this instance it would be .... type to hear themselves... read???)

I thought of another super annoying thing.... there's someone who 'answers' a lot of questions and instead of helping with a technique, they give a very short response that they did it recently and their answer has no detail, and when she's asked for more info on it, she talks about some uber-expensive thing she bought to do it.... Which hey, it's great if you desire to spend lots of money on gadgets that do every technique, but not everyone wants to do that!! Especially since it can be done without those gadgets!!! I personally enjoy learning new techniques, and doing things the old fashioned way sometimes. And I think that's so unhelpful, I'm not going to drop a load of cash to make this one thing for one cake order when I'll never get use out of it again. I mean, I love hearing about new gadgets, and have been known to buy something because of something I read (Melvira, Home Depot loves you because I know I was right there buying my roller along with thousands of others!! LOL!) but in general, for many techniques, you just need to practice and have the right products, you don't need some whoosywhatsy that costs a fortune!! I've read this specific person do it SO many times this summer, I know some of you will know just who/what I mean!!

I just have to say, this thread is SO FUN! I'm so happy it's being kept light and humerous.

P.s. I agree that views of a pic are a compliment. I see a thumbnail that looks interesting and view it, if I didn't think it looked neat I wouldn't do it. icon_biggrin.gif

Thought I'd chime in on this educational thread.
It's kind of been metioned in this thread but my pet peeve is when you do post a topic starter to get help (like I have recently done) and you get great feed back and suggestions then someone chimes in and says "oh I was wondering about something like this, I'm making such and such how would I do such and such?" What?!! icon_cry.gif
It has nothing to do with the orginal question and now I have cc'ers helping this person out on my thread so I get a message telling me someone has posted a response to my question and I get there only to find someone answering someone else's question. Does me no good. Why couldn't they just start their own topic? Ok, got that out of the way, I also get annoyed when we assume that someone stole an idea from someone else on here with out even asking them. I know that 9 times out of 10 that is the case but I do know that I myself came up with an idea for a cake, hadn't seen a picture of it, hadn't even heard of anyone doing it before, I drew it up, I worked out the details then I was browsing the gallery and saw the exact same cake. I didn't steal it from them, but obviously we had the same idea. I never did make the cake but if I had and posted it I wouldn't have given credit to that person because it was my idea yet I know I would have been accussed of stealing because we assume so quickly. So that irritates me, ok I'm done, I know people will probably disagree but it's my opinion and I certainly don't want to force that on anyone. I love this site and always try to give the proper credit and thanks to those who help me.

Oh Oh Oh, I just thought of a GOOOOD one!!!!!!!! This has happened so often! I posted a question a few months ago and the thread was titled something like "how do I take good digital pics of my cakes?" and it was such a great thread, so many people contributed, I learned SO much and my pictures are so much better than before (thank you all!) Well three or four days later (my thread was STILL circulating, still on the front page of posts) someone ELSE posts a thread asking the SAME THING!!!!!!!!! That happens SO MUCH! Someone actually posted an answer to that one telling them there is an exact thread open right now. I don't get why people do that!! If anything it makes it harder to get one solid thread with good answers. I think probably all threads duplicate at some point with there being new members, and old members trying new things, but when two are going on at the SAME time on the SAME forum, a couple days apart!!!???!? That's just crazy!! If I dont' have time to do a search, I at least glance at the current page of posts before I post a question incase it's been asked!!

Uploading a beautiful cake picture, and being too lazy to remove all the mess around it. It takes, oh I don't know, One Minute to clear off a table! It ruins the whole photo, and looks very ameturish, and slovenly.
