OMG!!! icon_eek.gif That is absolutely amazing. Two questions: 1). How close to your kitchen is this room? the only room I have available that I could set up a cake room is the bonus room upstairs over my garage. It's huge so it would work, but I would have to bring baking supplies down (pans, tips, etc.) each time I use them. 2). How long has it taken you to collect all of these items??!!! I thought I had a lot of decorating supplies, but after seeing this, I feel like a small fish in a large pond!! icon_surprised.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Because you are so organized, and don't have to waste time looking for things, you had time to do this GREAT tutorial for the rest of us icon_wink.gif , and I for one am very thankful...excellent job! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

LOL< me too, Ithought I had a lot until I saw this too. I mean, all and I mean ALL my decorating stuff still fits in two 1/2 base cabinets (top 1/2 with pull-out I use for other things, bottom half for baking tins and supplies). Then one 2 36 inch shelves for any sort of baking food supply (including sprinkles, but also chocolate, powdered sugar, crisco, and the like).... Hmmm... now that I say that, that would take most of a tool cabinet! LOL

Wow, I so wish I could be that organized. I have no organizational skills what so ever, but it drives me crazy not to have things organized. Not a good combination. Do you want to come teach me?

WOW!!! I thought I had a lot of stuff but all mine manages to fit into two wooden cubbies stacked upon each other in a nook inside my pantry and then all my books on a book shelf above that! I dream of having a room solely for all my cake decorating. Someday!!!!!! icon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gif I'm a stickler about organization as well, it has to be convenient!!!! You have done a supurb job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing!

I just barely inventoried all my cake decorating stuff and organized, but I do not have near what you have. I only have a couple of boxes full. I love the craftsman idea though and my DH has one out in the shed. I wonder if he would notice it missing, HMMM icon_evil.gif . Great organization though.

this is similar to what i have done... but i used some old dressers we had in the guest bedroom... my husband won't DARE let me touch his toolboxes!!! i just seperated all my pans, tools, ingredients and everything into the drawers and labeled them all so i know where to go when i'm looking for something. my cake mixes, powdered sugar and all that other good stuff is in my kitchen in it's own cupboard so i won't have to run in the other room for it icon_smile.gif

Wow. Thanks for sharing your photos. I was thinking about getting a similar craftsman cart I saw at sam's but was wondering if it was practical. Looks like it works great! I also like the way you've organized your cake boards.

I think this is the best job I've ever seen. Wonderful! I just wrote down Craftsman tool chest and label maker on my Christmas wish list. I have all my stuff in plastic boxes. They take up lots of room (that I don't have) and I can't find anything unless I did through them. The label maker will be a dream come true. The chest makes everything very easy to find.

Now I just have to find room to put the chest.

That looks great! I have been in the process of creating a craft room out of my third bedroom since I moved last November. I have a pile of scrapbook & stamping stuff, painting stuff, cake stuff, and my daughter's crafty stuff, but right now I can only really get to my cake stuff! I will definitely be using some of your ideas!! My only problem with organizing Is....I have so much trouble keeping it that way!!

Wonder how many husbands are going to receive Xmas wish lists with a rolling Craftsman toolchest on it....

I know I never imagined I needed one!!!

alaskanmom,

You are The Bomb

(My son was stationed in Alaska for several years, and while he loved the area - I couldn't send him anything large as the postage was horrible, but neither could I get any major retailers with local stores to deliver anything... I applaud your resourcefulness!!!!!)

I want to come over and play!! That is my idea of being organized, everyone thinks I am so anal because I love to keep things tidy and cleaned up. How on earth did cake making fit into this "tidy" category, because when I bake my whole kitchen gets flipped turned upside down! I thought I had a bunch of stuff, I only have one pantry filled with it. I had it in about 3 or 4 cabinets and it was driving me crazy, if I needed one thing I would have to pull everything out! So I spent 3 hours taking everything out of all the cabinets and switching them all around. Works much better! Good Job!

I'm just sitting here shaking my head. I suck! My cake pans are in the garage on top of the camper, my cake rounds are on the top shelf in my closet, my tips in my Wilton box behind a chair in the living room, my colors are either in my Wilton box or in a box in the kitchen....I could go on but I would only embarass myself more.

I'm turning off the computer and off I go to orangize.

my goodness, you are all so sweet! Thanks for the positive feedback. I will try and answer the questions that have come up. First of all, my fanci foils are propped up on the corner of my table... I would never put them on the floor, you are right, that would have been a health hazard. as for the tips in the container... it is a plastic cabinet that has little pull out drawers. I labelled the edges by tip category ie; round, star, pedal, drop flower, leaf, etc then put the tips in the category by number, starting at lowest for smallest hole and then on up. It is very nice to be able to just grab what you need without searching. Before i did this it was overtaking my poor kitchen. Now all that's in the kitchen is the food ingredients (meringue powder, colorflow, gumtex, flavors, etc) and as i said my baking pans are all stacked in the laundry closet in my dining room right next to the kitchen (lots of shelves). As for how far away is that room? not far. just down a hall about 15 feet so i carry my iced cake to the room, put it on the table and can sit to smooth my icing and decorate. great back saver! And, it's in a room where i can shut the door and no one will disturb it if i need to stop and do something (or if i did it the night before delivery). So here is a close up of the tip rack... so you can see better

wow! That's amazing! I wish I could be a little bit as organized as you! I too have a little space in our house with a small kitchen, but no matter how hard I try to organize and keep space, hats off to you! That is awesome! I loved how you use the crafsman too chest to put all your stuff in that- I would never have thought of that! Good job!

Thanks for the pics, I too am a neat freak and enjoyed looking at your stash. I had a thought the other day about pan storage. At the hardware store you can buy a sheet of metal flashing and screw it to your wall and with heavy duty magnets stick your pans on it. Just a thought I've been working on.
