LiliS would you care to share the ladies username on ebay with all of us?

The aussie contingent must stick together. thumbs_up.gif

Whilst we are all chatting I was wondering what you would all think of creating a usergroup just for aussies.

i was thinking of setting up an irc chat room for us! but it would mean you would need to download a chat server and could be a bit difficult. i use it for my mac chat.
Or i can do my best to try to set up our own little forum!

Any ideas?

You can get Wilton Maggie strips. They come in all sizes. I just bought them on ebay, wanted for years but coudln't find them here. They give even bake and leveled surface.

Cheryl,

How is your finger? I have been thinking of you how you managed all those cakes ...

If 12" squire feeds 70 people desert portions, then it should be just right for 110 coffee. Isn't it? Otherwise the next size up should be plenty.

Gingerkitten79 was not sure by your reply if you realised that I actually meant setting one up on this site.

Have copied the information listed under FAQ, everyone feel free to offer your opinion.

What are Usergroups?
Usergroups are a way in which board administrators can group users. Each user can belong to several groups (this differs from most other boards) and each group can be assigned individual access rights. This makes it easy for administrators to set up several users as moderators of a forum, or to give them access to a private forum, etc.

How do I join a Usergroup?
To join a usergroup click the usergroup link on the page header (dependent on template design), you can then view all usergroups. Not all groups are open access, some are closed and some may even have hidden memberships. If the board is open then you can request to join it by clicking the appropriate button. The user group moderator will need to approve your request, they may ask why you want to join the group. Please do not pester a group moderator if they turn your request down, they will have their reasons.

How do I become a Usergroup Moderator?
Usergroups are initially created by the board admin, they also assign a board moderator. If you are interested in creating a usergroup then your first point of contact should be the admin, try dropping them a private message.

My website has a forum option if you want me to set it up. Our own area would be great where we can list suppliers, and a range of other things while chatting.

Let me know, I can have it running today if you want.

Yes Lilis, it's not as scary as it looks, you just select the background, and the pages are templated, so it tells you where to add text and everything very good for beginners.

I noticed the forum function on it when I first set it up but didn't really have many aussie cake buddies to chat with back then, now there's over 40 pages of people and discussion so what the heck.

Thanks to gingerkitten's initial post we all found each other!

Morning all, i will get over to your site tonight Nicole... i was hoping to today but i have to go into work... blah... But at least today all i am doing is packing shelves. I'm sick of workign the counter ive been up there all week because one of the managers was sick and i had to fill her shoes. Not my idea of a fun time!
But its the weekend tomorrow!! YAY! Looking forward to having coffee in the sunshine (if we get some) and playing with my motorbike figures for the wedding cake.

Also, what pan size will i need for about 110 people? coffee portions. i'm going to do a slab, glaze with a jelly or jam and cut into squares then pipe a rosette of buttercream onto it. i think that would look neater.
I am also thinking of doing 2 smaller slabs as the bride loves choc (of course) but the groom loves orange and poppyseed. then ice with 2 different icings. I just dont know what size pan i need. i know theres a thread here somewhere but my brain cant come up with the right combinations of search words to find it!

Sooooooo many pages to catch up on, if no one else has answered this, an 11inch square would do, you cut it up in inch squares you'd have plenty, 10 inch would be slightly too small.

Also if you need to do two different flavours, then 2 x 8 inch squares should give you 64 serves each.

Oh you're sooooooo sweet!!!! What a lovely thing to say, you've made me blush icon_redface.gif
I will probably put them up on my website, one is very similar to the black and white one I have in my photos here, only it's 4 tiers and much nicer, so I'll probably swap that one over, there'a one with a bride and groom and some roses which is small, but cute, and the last one, which I have yet to finish is similar to another one I've made with liliums on top and green "stems" on the sides, it's three tiers all the same size, so it's a tall cylindrical cake, again, if it comes out nice, I'll probably change it over as well. I'm sorry that I can't post them here, but like I said, I'm just so tired of sending nasty emails to people about using other people's photos I figured I needed to do something. I'm very happy to send you photos if you're that interested! Just PM me your email.

Oh Fran that stinks about people stealing photos.

I have to admit though, I have a number of photo's saved of other peoples work (only to be used for inspiration though)

Anyway last night DBF was working on our website and brochures and I came over to have a look at how it was going. Oh my god!! He had used photo's of other peoples work despite some of them even being watermarked!!! What do you think that is? A watermark. Does it have my name on it? NO. THEN DONT USE IT!!! tapedshut.gif

I have now learnt my lesson and all photo's of other peoples work are now in a seperate folder labelled ' inspiration only - do NOT print'

My God how embarrasing it would have been.

Have you tried watermarking the photos.............. would that help to stop the problem that you have.

Cheryl
