Through the rumor mill. . .I just got a call that Mt has put in for a transfer to another division in the company!!!!! Same office, just a different project!! Know what that means?????????? No more BS from MT! We'll see. My office buddy said she was wanting to expand her experience and try something new as this job is just too stressful(has nothing to do with the cake thing). This rumor has been swirling for a couple months that she MAY put in. I hope the hell this isn't a hoax! Life would be so much more pleasant without her in the office! A little more about MT. . .She claims to be a call it like you see it kind of person. I would say that about myself. In no way am I a shrieking violet! But you can be outspoken without being a biotch about it and being offensive! I think she's just being bit@chy and that's her excuse! Keeping my fingers, legs and toes crossed that this is true! It just keeps getting better!!!!!!!

Elle McG
(Pronounced like the letter L, MT and one of her clonies called me Ellie for weeks when I first started! (Pre-cake issue hahaha)

No truer words. That is what SO many people get wrong about using the excuse "I'm just honest!" Why does honest mean you have to be rude? It doesn't! People can be honest and polite!!!!

I just read this whole thread and am ROTF!!!! AuntieElle, you keep on trucking with those cakes! Sounds like MT has either a dowel support rod or a very large spatula up her rear (probally both!). You go girl! icon_biggrin.gif

This is the funniest saga, this person is truly a trip.

And I am with the rest who have said something about the cream cheese icing. Love the stuff but it is a pain to work with.

And to put a little of the icon_evil.gif in the situation. I would take a look at her portfolio and order a cake from her (blame it on anybody you want as a reason to need it), but tell her that you want something really special and would rather get it from a professional. Choose one from her book, it would be worth the money to me just to mess with her.

Sorry I said the icon_evil.gif.

I'm new to this but I had someone ask me to make their cake with only cream cheese frosting. I'm going to have to do some research but can someone show me pictures of cakes decorated in only cream cheese?

I mean how much can one really do with cream cheese?

goodness.....i just quickly skimmed throught this entire thread.....and it was too funny.

It's so sad that a person is that insecure about their own work that they can't admit when someone else is a good decorator!

unfortunately, this is not the first time i'm hearing of a situation like this. i know of at least two others that this has happened to.

instead of aligning themselvesf with the other decorator to get together and share ideas, learn new things, pass on business, they say get upset. instead of being helpful they say hurtful things.

you tried to reassure her, but she was too hard headed to really listen to what you were saying. pooey on her.

Here is a link to one I did, by the time I got this little bit of work done it had to go back to the fridge to keep it from melting off the cake

Edited: I forgot to put the link in icon_redface.gif

I just spoke with BFF a bit ago, I understand it as she feels cream cheese icing is "her specialty". When BFF called she said she kind of copped an attutude when she made he "you can't taste the cc in the icing comment" she was gunning for her from the get go. I think she (MT) didn't want to deal with BFF. Thus the sorry. . .I can't help you. I think she prefers cream cheese because she said it was her specialty. . .Anyway.....In the event that she gets the transfer. . .I'm thinking of a nice Good Luck on the New Project cake ideas. Give me your best cream cheese icing and accompanying cake recipes. I am gonna blow the door off! I am watching Ace of Cakes right now...and Duff Golfdman called Colette Peters for advice on how to do horizontal pleats on a wedding cake. Colette seemed very cooperative (we never heard her speak, just saw Duff on the phone with her) and gave Duff two ways to accomplish the task. Thank you, ma'am!

This makes me go hmmm....

How is it that two top-of-the-heap-megabucks-earning-decorators like Duff and Colette can get along so well, while a behind-the-times-decorator-with 20-years-experience-who-only-uses-cream-cheese-frosting can't even be nice to a coworker who only brings cakes to work to share, not to sell?

Makes one wonder, doesn't it?

To mis-quote Henry Ford, "you can have any color you want, as long as it's black."
You can have anything you want as long as it's cream cheese icing with CCI roses.
Whatever.
How about a big sculpted cake in the shape of a boot?
