I worked really hard on this cake and I was bummed when I posted it at a bad time and it didn't get much notice.

I think this one is kind of cute, it ended up in the garbage . We ate the small 6" I made with the left over batter. After 5 days of nobody cutting it had to say goodbye.

I posted this cake late last night and noticed that it never made it to the homepage, and was not included in the "Newest Cake Decorating Photos". This has happenend several times before--I've uploaded a photo and it never gets shown on the homepage, therefore it gets little if any views. When it first happened a few months ago, I thought I missed seeing it. Then it happened several more times, so last night I ended up sending an email to CC to inquire why this is happening, and this was the reply:

So, I guess this is why many of us get so few views on some of our cake photos. Glad I can post them here instead. This cake took a long time because of all the colors and hence, all the cleanup (mixing bowls, spatulas, etc for each color). Thanks for looking!

I can't believe I read the whole thing!!!! Wow, and looked at all the pictures. While going through all the posts on this forum I was thinking two things:
1. Perfectionism must be a required character trait for all cake decorators.
AND
2. Comments and recognition mean so much to all of us because we are not just cooks creating food. An earlier post said that we pour our heart and soul into our cakes. That is so true but I think there is even more to it. We are creating beautiful works of art on a canvas of cake and they are a reflection of ourselves.

The best way I can think of to describe it is to use the example of your children. No one knows how much heart, soul and sweat (not to mention morning sickness and labor pains)a mother has invested in her child and therefore no one loves a child like a mother. Others can say the child is pretty or sweet but we feel so much more.

So many of us make cakes for loved ones and friends, not only customers and I can tell from the postings here that some of your favorites cakes always seem to be the ones you make for those you love. So don't feel underappeciated if no one comments or think your cakes aren't noticed. All of mine have had at least a few people peek at them and I'm thinking that one of the best things about this site is that you can search for ideas. My daughter wants a cow cake for her birthday so if you've ever made a cake with, about or including cows you can be sure I've looked at it. Your pictures may help someone some day. I know many of your cakes have helped me.

Wow, this kinds of sounds sticky sweet Hope no is weeping uncontrolably now.
I didn't mean it to sound that way. I just want everyone to feel confident and secure in their cake making even if your pictures get missed. Loved the forum though and all the cakes.
