I understand trying to figure out what to fix for supper. DH just switched to day shift so not only do I have to fix his breakfast, pack his lunch, I now have to figure out what to fix that he'll eat for supper. He's not a big veggie eater .... so decisions are harder.

DaltonAM:

Yeah, I try to have dessert about twice a week. I didn't used to, but then I think my husband started with the "male menopause" thing a couple years ago. Yeah...he went from a guy who "didn't like sweet stuff," to "Ya got anythang sweet 'round here?" icon_twisted.gif

It's not all it's raked up to be, though. First of all, I've gained like SERIOUS weight since starting up with having a dessert with dinner (and) of course the CAKE DECORATING!! tapedshut.gif

My drug of choice just happens to be frosting. And, when the dang stuff's just sittin' there in the Tupperware in the fridge, well... thumbs_up.gif

Dang.

Yeah, so tonight, I'm makin' crockpot bbq ribs and some kind of vegetables.

Oh, and yeah--we'll be havin' the strawberry shortcake we were supposed to have the other night. The old man evidently stuck my whipping cream up in the freezer instead of the FRIDGE!! Men... thumbsdown.gif

I had hot dogs cooked on the George Forman grill. Have you all ever tried that grill? I dont know if I can live with out it. I love that thing.

Anyway i dont know whats for dinner tonight. Mom is picking up my neice & nephew & going to let them decide. So maybe I wont turn into a ramen noodle after all. icon_lol.gif

I had my first cake decorating dream last night. All I can remember is that I was piping something (it was not icing) onto something. icon_confused.gif Weird i know but its a dream what can I say.

Ok I know I am rambling!!

4Kids, your dinner sounds really healthy (and tasty, too)

Monica, I've heard people raving about the GF grills. Does it do something special to the taste? I had seen a girl do hamburgers off one, once...didn't get to taste 'em though.

What features about it do you like? Do tell!

OOO.... I know this was addressed to Monica, but I just have to rave about mine! I love my GF grill. I love that it drains the fat as it cooks and you can actually push the top down harder to squezze out what's left. I also like that it is easy to clean. I don't like that I have a large family and have to cook 2 hamburgers at a time, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. (And it totally beats trying to clean the big grill.)

Monica, so sorry for butting in! You share your opinion to. icon_smile.gif

4kids, You do not but in. at all!! I love it for the reasons thats is easy to cleanup, cooks FAST, drains the fat, and warms the bun all at once. I cook hamburgers on it & cooked hambugers on the grill the GF is faster & I believe it taste lots better, therefore cheaper. The hotdogs cooked on it are to me just like no other. YUM!!

Oh & if you forget to clean it icon_confused.gif , no not me, icon_lol.gif its STILL simple to clean up, just turn it on for 30 seconds & I use a damp paper towel.

Cool!

I may just have to get me one of those...I have to be careful with buying appliances (mixers, choppers, blenders, etc.)

My kitchen is about the size of an apartment kitchen, so there's not any room!

I still mix up all my cakes & cheesecakes with a hand mixer for cripes' sake! BUT--I WILL BE GETTIN' A K/A FOR X-MAS!

Done made up my mind...

Hello,

I love my GF grill too. I have a larger one that can cook 4 burgers but still want the bigger one with the dishwasher safe grill icon_biggrin.gif . Eventually (like when we move) I'll get one. We're moving closer to hubby's work withing 6 months. Fun Fun.

Tonight we are having spahgetti with homemade sauce (dh doesn't like finding onion and garlic bits in it from the store bought sauce icon_mad.gif ). Garlic toast with cheese will be made too.

I'm glad my hubby's not hard to please with food--he'll eat about anything!

But--his partner's the exact OPPOSITE! He won't eat any vegetables mixed with meat, no "chunks" in any of his food, etc.
Example: Must have meatloaf completely made without veggies...must use onion and garlic POWDER, and bread CRUMBS (not bread) so it's smoooooth.
Deviled eggs: No relish...just eggs, mayo, seasonings.
Salad: It's all ok, because the vegetables are raw.

GAHHH! I can't imagine trying to cook for him!

I understand completely Knox. Hubby only eats corn and potatoes. No other veggies will he eat and he's not really much of a fruit eater either. It definitely makes it hard to fix food for him icon_cry.gif. At least my kids aren't that way yet. Their favorite is fried squash and okra.

Lots of good ideas in this thread. I've been in a rut this week and DH is craving stew. What else can I do with beef stew meat? I still have a bunch in the freezer - we get a side of beef to save money over the long haul. Any ideas?

Cakebox,

With that leftover stew meat you could make some Beef Strogonoff (sp?). Have you ever made that before? I have a recipe at home so it would not do you any good icon_redface.gif , Sorry.

Good luck!

Thanks Monica - I haven't made stroganoff in ages (kids' allergies) but now that we are starting to reintroduce dairy and eggs - that sounds wonderful. I have gotten so used to doing without that I can barely remember what I used to make. (I swear I've lost too many brain cells from sleep deprivation. LOL) It will be like learning to cook and bake all over again. thumbs_up.gif

Homemade pizza with cheese sounds good for this weekend too. Right now I've got to make waffle batter for tomorrow AM (for the first year I started doing this I was ok with it - now I'm like the Dunkin Donuts guy, "Gotta make the waffles...". Thanks everybody.

OK. So I decided to marinate the steak in Italian dressing, Orange Juice (just a splash) and different spices. It was awesome. I saw the juice there and thought... hmm..... I bet that would be good. I'm weird... I know! But... it turned out great. Hope everybody else had a good dinner. (Or will have... I keep forgetting about that whole time zone thing!)
