LOL TexasSugar.. it's either the power that goes out on me or I hit the wrong key on the key board & everything deletes! Just my luck~

I do remember saying that the lap band surgery isn't for everyone. I'm a stick to the rules person so I'm doing good on it. Whatever the dr says do I do it. If you don't listen to your dr about what foods to eat you might as well not even consider lap band.

I also thought it was going to be very easy! Boy was I wrong. It is very hard to make myself eat meat at every meal. I'm not a big meat eater. I haven't had any cravings for junk which is amazing! That part I am thankful for. The best thing about lap band surgery is that when I go to the gym to work out I see changes in my body & see the weight loss. Before the surgery I would diet & exercise & the weight just wouldn't come off (I would loose up to 25 or 30 lbs & then no more)! I would get depressed & go back to my old eating habits. Lap band has helped with the hunger part of dieting too. Don't get me wrong, I still have hunger about 4 to 5 hours (not 2 hrs after a meal like before) after a meal but I can drink water or eat a snack under 100 calories to tide me over til it's time for the next meal.

I'm feeling great! No complications. The healing time was very fast. I was walking 2 miles a day the day after my surgery! Working out is fun when you have success!!

A negative thing.. I am weighing myself all the time! I know that my shoes & clothes make me weigh 3 lbs more! I know that when I weigh after 5pm I weigh 1 lb more. It's turning into an obsession! I have to work on staying away from the scales! BUT then again... I'm not putting food in my mouth so this could be a good obsession icon_biggrin.gif

You just have to decided if surgery is for you. It took me 5 years to make the decision to have surgery. I will be 39 in Aug. I'm very involved in the Fire Dept. I don't do a lot of training because of my weight. My weight has held me back from doing a lot of things, my weight has caused some health problems too. I want to be healthy & happy the rest of my life! This decision was the best for me at this time in my life. Yes, I'm afraid of gaining weight back. That's another bad thing. Being afraid will hopefully help me from ever gaining it back!!

Ok, now that I opened myself up to everyone I'll close this book!! Sorry it's so long! If anyone has any questions just ask. This week is 2 months after my surgery!! Good luck to anyone interested in surgery. Research!!! Research!!! Research!! & find a GOOD DOCTOR!! That is very important!!

Ya'll have a nice evening~ icon_biggrin.gif

TC, I have been weighing myself atleast 4 times a day. It's bad. I don't get upset if I have gained through out the day since I know that happens. I also don't get mad if it is better one day than the other. I have a set weigh in time/date and that is when I do my official weigh in. And that is the number I go buy until the next week.

So know you aren't alone in the obsession!

Mind if I join all you ladies............I want to lose some weight and I have not been very successful.

I started gaining weight around 35 yrs (I am now 41) and have not been able to lose it! I use to weigh around 125 but now my weight has gone up to 159 and I am only 5'2". Over the last 3 yrs I have lost and gained the same 9 pounds. This year hubby and I would like to start trying for a baby but I am soooooo worried about my weight.

I'd be happy if I could lose 20 pounds before getting prego so the weight that I do gain due to pregnancy won't be so devastating.

My hubby doesn't eat anyting that is 'healthy' or 'diet' and doesn't exercise either. So, of course, I eat what he eats and I don't exercise either (except walk the dog about 4 blocks 4-5 times a week).

I'm assuming your husband doesn't have a pound to shed???? Why is it that men can eat whatever they want?!?!

Welcome!!!!!!!!!! Today is our weigh in day and socake keeps track of everyone on an excel spreadsheet, I believe. Good Luck on losing the weight and getting pregnant!!!

TexasSugar, I don't get upset either. It's so funny too. I was worried I would get upset but I never have. I will weigh on Monday, get that weight written down. Then all the other times I weigh I will remember them. I won't write another weight down till the next Monday. I usually figure out how much I'm gonna weigh on that next Monday sometimes in the middle of the week. But this week was a surprise. I didn't think I lost 4 lbs. Too funny. As long as it's a loss I'm GOOD!! So glad to hear I'm not alone!! LOL!! As long as food isn't going in my mouth it's a good thing right!

I forgot... I had a question..

I am a substitute school bus driver. I've been blessed to be allowed to sub on the same route every day (started this past Monday) that will go through the end of the school year (about 16 more days)!!!!

I get up at 5 am every morning icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif (which kills me!!) then I'm back home by 8 am. My problem is that I'm soooo sleepy when I get home! I eat breakfast & I'm back in the bed by 8:45 am!!! I sleep till
11 am. Get up, take a shower, eat & then head back out to do my PM route at around 1:45 pm.

After I get home in the PM I go to the gym. I eat at around 6pm. Take a shower around 9pm, go to bed around 9:45 or 10 pm (so I'm getting plenty of sleep for a normal person... not for me!! thumbsdown.gif I have always been a big sleeper! I love to sleep so I know that's what my problem is!!)

My question... Does anyone have any advice/suggestions to help me get used to this routine & not want to go back to sleep in the AM? Before anyone says this.. I'm taking vitamins already thumbs_up.gif I guess I'm just gonna have to make myself stay awake. My fear is that I will go through the rest of the day in a zombie state! dunce.gif LOL! I love sleep!!

Ok... getting off here to take my AM nap!!! icon_lol.gif

tcturtleshell - wish I could help here, but I have a hard time getting up in the morning too. 6:30 seems early for me!! But that's when we all get up to get the kids moving for the day and ready for school. I think your body just needs time to adjust to the earlier time. Just think, when the 16 days are over, your body will probably be used to it and then you won't have to do it anymore!!!!

mmdd - our weigh-in is tomorrow - Thursday

I'm 210.5 this week, that's up .5, but I'm ok with that. I was eating crazy this week with the big celebration we had at work with all the food and cake you could eat. I even ate some fast food which was a no no, but to only gain .5 is pretty good. It will go down next week!!

Good morning all
I am down to 212, which I believe I have lost 2 pounds total since we have started this, is that right SoCakes?
I may not be loosing fast, but I am making some choices that make me happy. Last night we had dinner with my boyfriends family. We grilled hamburgers and had chips, vegitables and dip. I had some chips, vegis and dip, but only had one burger. I usually have 2. baby steps.
I am also having problems with my heel again. I thought the shot the dr gave me would work, but after working the trade show last weekend and standing for 3 days it is back to hurting. I am afraid to walk on the tread mill for fear of causing more problems. I go back to the dr on the 21 so will see what he says, and how it is doing since I have 2 more shows before then.
Speaking of the shows I am off to Orlando tomorrow for another one, so will not be posting much until Tuesday when I return.
Great job everyone!

I'm at 150.6 this morning. This is up about half a pound, which is better than I deserve for what I've been eating. I will have to be more diligent in weighing my food and writing down what I eat.. These are the only things that seem to keep me in control. I need to drink more water too. We pretty much don't do fast food, I already don't drink soda, and I'm already exercising, (though I could exercise more) I've been gardening and doing Jazzercize which is, I'm sure, all that kept me from gaining more. Sigh.......it sure is easier to gain than to lose....... icon_smile.gif

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven't been on lately. Have yet lost anymore weight (160lbs) but then I haven't gained anything either. I have started up with the exercising again. Only now I work out around 5 in the morning (3 or 4 times a week).

keep up the good work everyone. baby steps are indeed the name of the game.

I have a little question and i hope some of you might have tried this "miracle " machine.
It is called power plate. Here we all talk about it and the girl who brought this machine in is booked for few months already while she even doesn't have the gym up yet. I don't think it is such a new thing in the states. For us it is. Have you heard of it? has somebody used it and does it really make your cellulite dissapear if you do it properly and as many times as needed? I have researched the net but i would really like some comments of the girls who have tried and tested it.
Thanks,
Liis

Hey Friends!!
Congrads on your accomplishments for this week!!!!! Be proud!!
I usually weigh in on Mondays but I had my 2 month post surgery appt today so I thought I'd post. I had a 4 lb loss. I've increased my exercise for the past 2 wks. I'm pushing myself to work out harder, it's good to have my daughter there exercising with me! She's a huge motivation!! My dr has added a few more foods to my menu! Salads!! I have been wanting a salad so bad lately! He also said I would probably have a larger weight loss for the next few wks because salads/veggies are made up of mostly water so people loose more weight! So I had to share that news with ya'll!! It makes sense doesn't it? I am so motivated when I read your posts! I'm so glad I started reading in this forum! I hope everyone has a wonderful week!!

Carla, don't get discouraged! Just get back in the saddle!! thumbs_up.gif
Cindy, sorry you've been sick! I hope your feeling much better now!!

I don't think this will be a good weight loss week for me.

I have been constantly looking for snacks. I don't feel bad but I keep looking for comfort food.

I hope I can get myself back on track.

How is everyone else going?

I hope you are all still going well, about half of us didn't weigh in again this week!!

Take care

Sandra
